01. I N S T I T U T E F O R L O C A L S E L F G O V E R N A N C E I N V A R A N A S I ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN | THIRD YEAR This project was very unique in terms of it’s programme. The key was to choose a utility that would respond to what the city had to offer, which is why I chose the herittage of the region.

What played a key role in my design process was how to treat the site as a dynamic landscape. The flatness of the site was modified keeping in mind the form of the ghat. Spaces were provided for material and restoration workshops as well as a library, auditorium, interpretation centre. There was also a commercial unit that handled the media and publicity aspect of the progamme. Proposal was made for a promenade which wold be accesible from the green terraces of the workshop spaces.

A HIERARCHY WAS MAINTAINED WHERE THE STRCTURES RANGED FROM UNDERGROUND STRUCTURES TO OVERHEAD STRUCTURES SO AS TO ALLOW FOR VISTAS AND MOVEMENT TOWARDS THE GHATS.

THE AUDITORIUM

THE EXHIBITION SPACES

THE SITE PRESENTS A CONTOUR RANGE OF 14M AND EXTENSIVE TREE COVER. HENCE, THE FOCUS AND CHALLENGE OF THE PROJECT WAS HOW TO UTILIZE THE SLOPE AND YET KEEP THE STRUCTURES ACCESIBLE AND USER FRIENDLY. WITH SPACES PROVIDED FOR THE PERFORMANCE, AS WELL AS LITERARY ARTS, THE PROJECT ACTS AS AN OASIS FOR ARTISTS ALL OVER THE CITY TO INTERACT, EXCHANGE IDEAS AND CREATE. A KEY COMPONENT WAS TO KEEP THE SPACES AS CLOSE TO NATURE AS POSSIBLE AND TO PROVIDE A CENTRAL ANNEXE FOR CIRCULATION AND ACCESSIBILTY.

AUDITORIUM- THE AUDITORIUM WAS MODELLED AROUND A BLACK BOX THEATRE WITH A THRUST STAGE AND A ROOF THAT ACTED AS THE SEATING FOR THE CAFE OVERHEAD.

EXHIBITION SPACES, AUCTION ROOM AND COMMERCIAL SPACE THESE SPACES WERE LOCATED RESPONDING TO THE FUCTION AS WELL AS ACCESSIBILITY. NATURAL CONTOURS WERE UTILIZEED TO PROVIDE AN INTERESTING WALKWAY.

LIBRARY AND OVER HEAD CAFETERIA. THE LIBRARY WAS EQUIPPED WITH PRIVATE AS WELL SEMI-PRIVATE READING SPACES.

RESIDENTIAL UNIT- THIS UTILIZED THE EXISTING CONTOURS ON SITE AND ALLOWED FOR CONGREGATION SPACES AS WELL AS PERFORMANCE SPACES FOR IMPROMPTU PERFORMANCES.

03. T H E A N N E X E B U I L D I N G A T W A D A L A ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN | THIRD YEAR THIS WAS OUR FIRST PROJECT IN AN URBAN SETTING. THE SITE IS LOCATED AT WADALA, MUMBAI. HENCE KEEPING IN MIND HEIGHT RESTRICTIONS AND FSI CALCULATIONS WE DESIGNED AN ANNEXE BUILDING TO AN EXISITING LAW COLLEGE.

04. S C H O O L O F D R A M A A T J A N A V I L L A G E ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN | SECOND YEAR THIS PROJECT WAS, FOR ME, A JOURNEY THAT BEGAN WHEN WE FIRST VISITED THE SETTLEMENT AT JANA. THE ASSIGNMENT BRIEF WAS SEEMINGLY STRAIGHT FORWARD. TO COME UP WITH A PROGRAMME FOR A SCHOOL FOR THE NATIVES OF THIS VILLAGE AND TO DESIGN IT IN THE TRADITIONAL TECHNIQUE, THAT IS KHAT KHUNI.



05. M U S I C L I B R A R Y INTERIOR DESIGN | SECOND YEAR THE AIM OF THE PROJECT WAS TO PROVIDE SPACES FOR MUSIC LOVERS TO COME AND INTERAACT, PLAY THEIR OWN MUSIC AS WELL LISTEN TO MUSIC. HENCE I HAVE PROVIDED A JAMMING ROOM AS WELL AS INDIVIDUAL PODS FOR LISTENING TO MUSIC.



06. A R T I S T’ S R E S I D E N C E - S A Y E D R A Z A INTERIOR DESIGN | SECOND YEAR WE DREW INSPIRATION FROM THE ARTIST ASSISGNED TO US, IN MY CASE, SAYED RAZA AND DESIGNED SPACES FOR ANOTHER ARTIST WHO FOLLOWED IN HIS PRINCIPLES. MY KEY CONCEPT WAS THE BINDU AND DRAWING FOCUS THROUGH LIGHT.



07. S Y S T E M T H I N K I N G COLLEGE PROJECT |SECOND AND THIRD YEAR WE STUDIED TWO SYSTEMS, ONE BEING THE LOCAL TRAINS OF MUMBAI AND THE REGION OF MASJID BUNDER WITHIN MUMBAI.

09. A. N. D. C. T R O P H Y - N A S A SECOND YEAR THE BRIEF ALLOWED FOR US TO EXPLORE THE VARIOUS FORMS OF INCAPACITATION OFTEN PLACED ON US BY SOCIETY AND THE PUBLIC EYE. WE EXPLORED PROBLEMS CAUSED BY AND CAUSING A LOSS OF IDENTITY AND HOW ONE COULD ADDRESS THEM WITH ARCHITECTURAL INTERVENTIONS.

FROM FISHING TRAPS, GRAIN BAMBOO AS MATERIAL FOR SUSTAINING ALMOST EVERY SILOS, TO EVEN THE WALLS OF THEIR HOUSES. SINGLE ACTIVITY OF THE LOCALS. 11. W A R L I W O R K S H O P SECOND YEAR THE LANDMARKS WITHIN THE CITY OF MUMBAI HAVE BEEN HIGHLIGHTED ALONG WITH THE ACTIVITIES SURROUNDING THEM. WE INTERACTED WITH ARTISANS FROM THE JAWAHAR PROVINCE OF MAHARASHTRA.
