KUSH RUGS + ROCKEFELLER FOUNDATION
We were thrilled to be selected to work with The Rockefeller Foundation, and their design team Myodo, for the 5th Avenue Building remodel last year. The work of this storied organization spans the globe and aligns with our vision to promote sustainable opportunity for our weavers and producers throughout the weaving world.
CONCEPT + COLLABORATION The concept was groundbreaking. We used satellite imagery representing the Foundation’s reach and efforts as our foundation, and built each rug design, texture and color story to merge effortlessly with the room’s other elements. Seen here- satellite imagery of a night market from above. This image would go on to inspire the largest rug of the project.
DESIGN + RENDER Our in house design team created a series of renderings to show the full layout of each rug. Each piece contained multitudes of textures and colors, conveying the rich and organic nature of the scenes they represent.

COLOR + MATERIALS With thousands of colors to choose from and sturdy hand processed rug wools as our canvas, we were able to create movement and warmth while ensuring a durable, resilient product.
SAMPLE Samples are always such fun, and so important. From the moment these samples landed they were a hot commodity, with all the deciders clamoring over them to keep in their offices.
WEAVING Each piece was hand-tufted by our top tufted producer in India- a family we’ve known and worked with for over 15 years. They reserve a special room and highly skilled weavers for Kush projects, and we love visiting them to watch them at work.
MISSION The Foundation’s aim was to fill their team with pride and motivation by highlighting the real places impacted by their work. We are so proud to have been a part.
