Exquisite Corpse

Exquisite Tooth

Exquisite corpse, also known as exquisite cadaver or rotating corpse is a method by which a collection of words or images is collectively assembled. Each collaborator adds to a composition in sequence, either by following a rule. The technique was invented by Surrealists and is similar to an old parlour game called Consequences in which players write in turn on a sheet of paper, fold it to conceal part of the writing, and then pass it to the next player for a further contribution.

The project is composed with four different programs: Eames’ furniture store, parking garage, art gallery, and youth hostels. With the respect of Exquisite Corpse concept, all the programs collaborated each other in senses of unhindered circulation, transition between programs, and transparency of exterior facades that reflected the relationship between pedestrians and visitors with respected existing site context.

The atmosphere of concept furniture store and installation art gallery fits perfectly with the reviving Film Row. The youth hostel provides affordable place for selected tourists who are willing to explore downtown OKC using public transportation. furniture/gallery cafe hostel

Puyang Eye Hospital fall 2011. OU

team work program_hospital location_Puyang, China size_30,000 sft height_52 ft (3 floors)

The design was inspired from the traditional Chinese courtyard houses, where the multiple living blocks surround and form the common and private space for the family. The atrium is designed primarily for the staffs, where their offices are aligning along the atrium. Each office has its own balcony, giving staffs refreshment from natural light and sky. The building site is below ground level, giving the sense of protection from mother Earth. The outdoor garden on the south side provides refreshing and private space for the patients. The community space on the north connects the residential spaces. The community outreach space is also in that area, giving the locals opportunity to understand the knowledge and information about LASIK/eye surgery.
