“For me the stone is a mirror, a nebulous void that searches to see what it can make of me, and therefore carves its shape and meaning from my own void” Natural Stone “Perfect material for dreaming” - holds no predefined shapes - no previous human intervention
Positive + negative Textured + Smoothed One Form or Two Forms
Void / Vortex / Portal The voids encourage the viewer to consider the possibility that it not only physically links to the other side of the work, but to a world beyond

Concept; Language and Form
Looking at surrounding environment and placing spaces in relation to each relevant fundamental
Layering
Researching into the different material types used within my sculptor's work I recognised the features and typical characteristics for each sort. Marble, for example, exhibits an obvious layering effect, which by interpreting and simplifying could be depicted through use of differing materials, ie glass and concrete
