Grading Criteria The way to grade you responds to the achievement of three competences: Saber Hacer, Saber and Ser. Each competence implies a specific evaluation method. Here are the details. Saber Hacer The Saber Hacer competence is the one that is weighted with the highest value. It is 50% of your final grade and it consists of a written exam. Depending of the amount of units of the course it will be the amount of written exams. Each of them has to been solved by your own. In the case that you fail the exam (less than 8) you will have to complete a full remedial exam. Saber The Saber competence is your performance at the Language Laboratory. It is weighted with 20% of your final grade. You have to complete the lab tasks at the lab room. We have one lab session per week. If you miss a lab session you have to complete the requested activity for the next session and it will cause a penalty of 20 points less unless the exception policy applies. EXCEPTION POLICY: The only exception to the penalty is that the reason that made you miss the lab session was a medical or emergency issue. If by the end of the unit you miss this 20% you will have to complete the LAB section of the remedial exam. Ser The Ser competence is about your book. It consists of the overall performance using it. It is weighted with 30% of your final grade.
It will be used during class and as homework. If you only have the Student Book
you can use separate sheets of paper or a notebook to copy the entire exercise and solve it. If you have the Workbook, Activity Workbook or Activity Worksheets, any of those will count towards the book usage grade (Ser). Each day that you deliver late your homework will cause a penalty of 10 points up to a maximum of 3 days. After those 3 days I will not receive your homework unless the exception policy applies. EXCEPTION POLICY: The only exception to the penalty is that the reason that made you miss homework was a medical or emergency issue. If by the end of the unit you miss this 30% you will have to complete the BOOK section of the remedial exam. Note: If you want to get the grading sample file please send a request by email.
