NEW

2014?

Of the several projects that occurred on South Campus this summer, you will immediately notice a few changes, especially if you are returning to South Campus. First, new flooring and carpeting were installed in half of the apartment on Winding Ridge Road. These new floor consist of a wood entryway and a carpeted living room, stairs, hallway, and bedrooms!

Second, parts of the Slocum Heights community received new balconies. These balconies will help increase building appeal and create a safer living environment. Finally, new curbing and parking lots were added in parts of Small Road, Chinook Drive, and Lambreth Lane. Take a look around at the new landscaping around the bus stops, parking areas, and apartment buildings! This new curbing will help direct traffic, identify clear parking spaces for residents, and provide a separation of the road from the parking area.

Passengers with visual impairments or requiring the use of a wheelchair or other mobility aids are encouraged to contact parking services more information on transportation and bussing.

THE Campus bus service is coordinated through Parking and Transit Services and serviced by the Centro bus system. On South Campus, bus service throughout the apartments operates using an 8-minute schedule. As a result, there should be a bus stopping at the bus stops about every 8 minutes during peak class time usage. While this provides a bus service that is convenient, with frequent pick-ups, it is important to plan accordingly based on your academic schedule/transportation needs, inclement weather, and the usage of other riders. It will be unlikely that you can ride the closest bus to your class time as other residents may be on the bus, causing it to be full. The primary South Campus bus numbers are the 144, 244, and 344. See their schedules so that you are familiar with the pick-up and drop-off times. The complete bus schedule is available on the Parking and Transit Services website as well as on the Centro website.

Information regarding road closures, detours, and current weather conditions that have an impact on transportation will be distributed through the Parking and Transit Services’ Twitter Account: @suparking Be sure to follow them today!

In the event of an emergency, the emergency contact number for bus related issues is 315.443.4652, option #7 (Parking & Transit Services). Please report all incidents promptly via phone or email (parkmail@syr.edu) within 24 hours, and state all pertinent information (i.e., date, time of day and bus number if known) in order for incidents to be resolved in a timely manner. Take some time to ride the bus at different times to learn what works best for you and your schedule.

Winding Ridge Apartments

ON South Campus is primarily a residential area, although several offices and departments are located here. For the safety of our community, please abide by all posted speed limit signs and be cautious when driving near buses as students, faculty, and staff may be exiting the bus and crossing the street.
