What are you gonna be? Clever and easy costume ideas for singles or groups BY ZACH MILLER | PR!STAFF

Halloween in the Bluegrass is always a special time. Sharing a Halloween costume with your roommates or group of friends can make the celebration a lot of fun. In order to prepare for Halloween this year, here are a few ideas to think about when deciding what to be: Captain Planet and the Planeteers -Captain Planet: Blue sweats and sweatshirt with red gloves and boots, and green hair; Planeteers:

All Planeteers have the same t-shirt with the Captain Planet globe logo and then casual looking clothes over top. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles- Green sweats and sweatshirt, book bag covered in brown cloth for shell, belt and respective colors for masks and arm bands; also respective “weapons” for each Turtle is a nice touch. The Village People - Each person dresses as a personality from the Village People: Biker, Army, American Indian, Cowboy, Construction Worker and Police Officer. Biker: Jeans and a t-shirt with a leather vest and chaps. Army: Camouflage everything. American Indian: Suede chaps and vest and a headdress. Cowboy: Jeans, white t-shirt, cowboy boots and hat.

Construction Worker: Jeans, t-shirt, sunglasses and a construction hat. Police officer: Blue slacks and button up, and a police officer hat. Tetris Pieces - Duct tape symmetrical cardboard boxes on top of each other to make the shapes of the Tetris pieces. Paint the pieces the respective colors and form together! A Box of Crayons - Sweats and a sweatshirt with a matching cone hat. The hat can be made from construction paper rolled into a cone shape and then have two black lines drawn at the base. Scooby Doo Cast - Shaggy: Brown corduroys and a green v-neck t-shirt. Fred: Blue slacks, white sweater and orange scarf. Vel-

ma: Orange skirt, sweater, knee socks and thick black glasses. Daphne: Purple skirt and sweater with a purple headband and a green scarf. Scooby: You can walk a real live dog or have someone dress as a dog. These are easy and fun examples that you can share with your roommates and friends. Cost is always a pressing issue when figuring out what to be for Halloween and these costumes are not expensive by any stretch of the imagination. Some of the costumes take a little creativity and small construction, while others require no more than a short trip to Goodwill. Whether you are going to a party or dressing up to go to the Mississippi State football game, Halloween will be a lot of fun.

Hollywood inspires Halloween ideas BY ABBY FARNHAM | PR!STAFF

The entertainment industry will provide inspiration for many getups for this year’s spooky holiday. Many are choosing to forego the typical themed costumes this season and instead are opting to be celebrity look-alikes on October 31st. It is predicted that Michael Jackson costumes will be very popular this year. With the recent death of the King of Pop, it is expected that party goers will attempt to mimic his pale skin, long black hair and leather and

sequined wardrobes. Another star, Farrah Fawcett, died this year. Many agree that Fawcett had one of the most iconic hairstyles in Hollywood. Her legendary hair-do can be easily imitated this Halloween with the purchase of a Farrah Fawcett inspired wig from a costume shop. With the ever growing popularity of vampires from the Twilight series as well as the new television show Vampire Diaries, countless fans will dress themselves in traditional vampire garb as well the modern day vampire like Edward

Cullen. Many couples will also wear coordinating costumes dressing as Twilight characters Bella Swan, Edward Cullen and Jacob Black. A costume that can be simply and inexpensively made is the Harry Potter costume. By wearing a pair of taped, round frame glasses, one can easily look like the wizardly character. With the summer debut of the sixth Harry Potter film, loyal fans will continue to sport the

half-blood prince costumes this Halloween season. The ever popular musical hit “Party in the U.S.A.” is currently being played on stations all over the United States this fall. With a hit television show as well as a recent movie release, Miley Cyrus fans will attempt to impersonate the teenage star by dressing not only as Hannah Montana, but also as the star herself. Children as well as adults will be dressed in sequin duds and blonde wigs while singing hit Cyrus songs all through the month of October. Lastly, a reality television star and her eight children are probably going to bring many interesting costumes this fall. Kate Gosselin, from TLC’s Jon and Kate Plus 8, has a well-known hairstyle that has made the cover of many magazines and has been the topic of many entertainment television and radio shows. The “reverse mullet” hair style of reality television star Kate Gosselin has been made into a wig and is available at costume shops across the United States.
