The Portneuf River V ision Study is a col laborat ive effort by members of t he community of Po catel lo to revive a long-neglected and mistreated river. Working closely wit h t he lead ing members of t he V ision Study group, we planned how t he improvements to t he river can fit into t he overal l growt h and development of t he city. Our focus area was t he Nort hwest Reach of t he river, an area characterized by large industrial build ings and wide expanses of undeveloped land. After mont hs of inventory (includ ing site visits and conversat ions wit h city officials and residents), analysis, and design development, w e presented our plans to t he V ision Study group, city officials and stakeholders, and hosted a community open house. Our proposals were received ent husiast ical ly and wil l be used to shape t he future of Pocatel lo city.

PROVIDE F OR DIVERSE USERS

It is important for the latest evolution of the area to respect and build upon the past, while giving equal regard to each aspect of its past.

As river health improves and the native landscape returns, the city will benefit from the rising tide of excitement surrounding these important community assets.

Improvements to the area should focus on nature and recreation. This will help people grow appreciation for the river and motivate them to maintain it.

The establishment of an uninterrupted park and trail system, running the length of the river - and connecting to major nodes throughout the city - will provide for the much needed connections.

As new developments provide for a wide range of users, many people will be attracted to the area and be enabled to create a strong community.

LOFT SIX FOUR INTERNSHIP S a n d y, U t a h

Loft Six Four is a design stud io focused on connect ing people wit h t he places t hey occupy. The opportunity to be a part of t heir team during t he summer connected me to t he reasons behind my interest in t he profession. My passion, purpose, experience, and at tent ion to detail grew substant ial ly as I was involved in producing construct ion documents, 3D models and details, 3D visual izat ion of outdoor spaces, presentat ion graphics, and concept design. The rooftop plaza space shown was designed by WOW Atel ier and Loft Six Four. The rendering is my own work.
