Design Ethos

My interest in sustainable community design was founded during my undergraduate studies where I gained a deep appreciation for the spatial relationships between society and ecology. Since beginning my landscape architecture studies, I have strived to incorporate ecological principles into community design throughout my studio projects and extracurricular activities. I hope to contribute my techinical skills to a collaborative design team which takes on a broad range of projects with a multi-disciplinary approach. Thank you for your consideration,

Reduce Input - 250’ buffer zone: new construction must be LID 382 Acres of LID added - 500’ buffer zone: ban use of organic chemicals 7,000 lbs/year reduction of pesticide use

1

Increase Capacity - Create series of pools and check dam 78,000,000 gallon increase in water capacity*

Flow Control Storm gates will open in flood events

2

3

Treatment Large filtration system in void space below highway Infiltration Green infrastructure in the low-lying areas of the golf course

4

5

Education A public school and library are at the interface of the existing canal and proposed canal. This area will feature green infrastructure practices, and will have educational elements about the Ala Wai watershed and the project.

6 7

6

Extension Canal infrastructure will be constructed below streets Recreation The canal will daylight near an existing events venue on parkland, and become an attractive feature.

7 8

- Currently, water rapidly drains from watershed into canal, then is trapped in stagnation - Concept aims to promote healthy flow of water through watershed planning and infrastructural improvements
