Hi lovers !
New month, new Kylie Times! We’re back with a little encyclopedia/bible (I’ll let you imagine what my brain feels like after making these hundred pages) that includes all the questions and information about the « Golden Tour » that started in Newcastle a little more than a month ago and will go through Europe shortly. Of course En tells you everything about our adventures on tour (well, we had fewer disasters than expected, except for Melanie and me as we were supposed to attend Dublin’s concert - sad) and teaches you how to do your make up when you go to a Kylie’s concert. Isa goes back to a song that appears on the setlist of this new tour: « Better The Devil You Know » and also did some awesome Kylie Reactions, « Golden Tour » special. I hope with all my heart that you’ll love this edition and do not hesitate to tell us your thoughts - that would make us extremely happy ! And until the next issue is out, you’ll be able to see us at a lot of the European shows so of course, do not hesitate to come say hi if you meet us, we are always super happy to meet you!
xx

Let’s have a look back at the most important events in Kylie’s career through the years and that took place in october.
K
ylie’s eighth studio album, « Fever », released on October 1rd, 2001 around the world, except for the United States where it arrived on February 26th, 2002 and is the singer’s second album to be released on US territory after « Enjoy Yourself » in 1989. On this opus, Kylie collaborated with many authors and producers like Cathy Dennis, who co-wrote two tracks on the three that she co-produced, or Rob Davis, Richard Stannard and Julian Gallagher. « Fever » takes part of the « Light Years » lineage being a very current pop-dance album, with a focus on the theme of love. It was recorded in several studios around the world, including Dublin, Chicago and London. Four singles were released : « Can’t Get You Out Of My Head », which remains the biggest success of the singer, « In Your Eyes », « Love At First Sight » and « Come Into My World ». All these tracks have been very popular, and Kylie still sings most of them during her live performances. In support of the album, there was the « KylieFever2002 » tour, which began on April 26th in Cardiff with 49 dates in total.

WHERE THE WILD ROSES GROW
OCTOBer 2nd, 1995
ne of Kylie’s classics for fans which comes back to life in the « Golden Tour », « Where The Wild Roses Grow », the famous duet with Nick Cave who found its place on the album of the singer « Murder Ballads » released in 1996. The track was written by the artist and produced by Tony Cohen and Victor Van Vugt. It’s after hearing the song « Down In The Willow Garden », the story of a man courting a woman and killing her while they were together that the song came. He rearranged this story in a b-side with two songs: « The Ballad of Robert Moore & Betty Coltrane » and « The Willow Garden », both released on the maxi version of the single. The track ranked second in Australia and third in Sweden, Norway, Iceland and Belgium. He got certified gold in Australia and Germany. In 2012, the NME ranked this song among the « 100 best tracks of the 90s » in 35 position. The music video was shot by Rocky Schenck and produced by Nick Verden. We see the character of Kylie who was obviously killed by the one of Nick Cave. We can spot Kylie in a ghostly form in a river, in a pose reminiscent of Millais’s painting, Ophelia. The video ends with the singer putting a rose in Kylie’s mouth and closing her eyes. The track never found its place on a studio album of the singer, but it can be found on the following compilations: « Hits + », « Greatest Hits 1987-1999 », « Ultimate Kylie » and the orchestral version in « The Abbey Road Sessions ».

ere is a big congratulations to the lucky ones who could have seen this concert! « The Disco In Dream » was Kylie’s first tour, which began on October 2nd, 1989. Even though Kylie was the headliner, other artists produced by Stock Aitken Waterman performed before she hit the stage, such as Sinitta and Dead Or Alive for Asia and Big Fun and Sonia for Europe. The name of the tour has evolved in Europe and was entitled « The Coca-Cola Hitman Roadshow ». Kylie did 14 concerts and performed eight tracks from her first two studio albums « Kylie » and « Enjoy Yourself ». It was also at this time that her relationship with Michael Hutchence, the singer of INXS, began.

ou’ve probably all forgotten this track (and so did we), but Kylie once lent her voice to « God Only Knows », the Beach Boys song, as part of a BBC project. The song, which dates back to 1966, was picked up and broadcasted simultaneously on the BBC television and radio stations for the launch of BBC Music on October 7th, before being used as a single for the Children In Need charity event. A music video was shot by François Rousselet where we see the presence of various artists including Kylie, surrounded by One Direction, Sam Smith, Florence Welch, Jake Bugg, Pharrell Williams or Elton John.

e’re continuing this October calendar with Kylie’s second studio album, which is celebrating its 29th anniversary this year : « Enjoy Yourself ». If it was released on October 9th, 1989 all over the world, it was in 1990 that the album made its appearance in the United States, under Geffen Records. All the tracks were produced and written by the team at the time: Stock Aitken Waterman, with the exception of « Tears On My Pillow » which is basically a song of Little Anthony And The Imperials. The album, consisting of ten tracks, was recorded in the United States, Australia and England and four singles were released : « Hand On Your Heart », « Wouldn’t Change A Thing », « Never Too Late » And « Tears On My Pillow ». Once again, these songs are very popular with fans and are still sung in concert, such as « Would’t Change A Thing » on this tour. « Enjoy Yourself » ranked first in England and became a double platinum disc with more than 600,000 copies sold in pre-sales! It has reached more than one million sales in less than ten weeks. In support of the album, the « Enjoy Your- octobeR 9th, 1989 self Tour » where the first show was early February 1990. KIDS
octobeR 9TH, 2000
e now move on to a track that you LOVE (but do you) ! I’m obviously talking about « Kids » ! If we thought we could finally get rid of it on this tour, it’s a fail ! One day we will have, as you guys have called it « a kids-free tour », but today is not that day. It’s true that we’ve heard it a lot of times on Kylie’s last shows, but we do have to admit that for people who are not fans, it’s always a bomb and it somehow works… And for the singer, it’s THAT track that gives her the perfect room to introduce the band. Let’s go back to the main topic, the track. This is a duet with Robbie Williams who has been released as the second single of his fourth studio album « Sing When You’re Winning » and the third single of « Light Years » for Kylie. The song, co-written by Robbie Williams and Guy Chambers was originally for the singer only, but Robbie loved it and made it a duet. FYI, there is also a sample of « Give Me Your Love » by The Sisters Love. « Kids » had a great success even though it was not ranked first in England but only second and appeared in the video game Grand Theft Auto V, in the fictional radio « Non-Stop Pop ».
I
still love youuuuu je ne sais pas pourquoi ! Fourth excerpt from the album « Kylie », « Je Ne Sais Pas Pourquoi » was released on October 10th, 1988 and was produced by Stock Aitken and Waterman. This is a pop ballad inspired by a title in French (Je Ne Sais Pas Pourquoi : I Don’t Know Why) but this same name is different all over the world. In Australia, the United States, Canada and New Zealand, the song was renamed « I Still Love You - Je Ne Sais Pas Pourquoi », while in some parts of Europe it’s « Je Ne Sais Pas Pourquoi (I still love you) ». Despite these small differences, the song remains the same. Apparently, there is a very different demo version, with an introduction that has nothing to do and a tempo and a rhythm more intense than the track we know, but it has never leaked. Note
also the b-side of this song is « Made In Heaven ».

ylie’s fourth studio album, « Let’s Get To It », was released on October 14th, 1991 in England and on November 25th the same year in Australia. This is the singer’s last album with Stock Aitken Waterman, and by the way, Mike Aitken left the trio at that time, so Kylie only worked with Mike Stock and Pete Waterman, as well as a few other producers and authors. Four singles are extracted from this opus: « Word Is Out », « If You Were With Me Now », « Give Me Just A Little More Time » and « Finer Feelings » but unfortunately the album did not have the expected success ranking 13th in Australia and 15th in England. The artwork, quite original, was done by the German photographer Jürgen Teller. Kylie is wearing a Nobuhiko Kitamura dress from the Hysteric Glamor brand, which was donated to the Cultural Gifts Program of the Melbourne Arts Center by Kylie herself in 2004. A promotional tour, « Let’s Get to It Tour » was launched on October 25th, 1991, only in Europe.

et’s be back a little longer on the second excerpt of « Let’s Get To It », « If You Were With Me Now », which was written and produced in particular by Stock and Waterman and which is a duet with Keith Washington, a American singer of R&B. Both artists recorded their part separately in the studios of Stock Aitken and Waterman in London and have never met before the filming of the music video. This is quite strange because they don’t appear next to each other in the video and we have no real indication that they were in the same place at the same time. So you may be wondering why such a choice for a second single, and the answer is simply because this track was acclaimed by radios! And « If You Were With Me Now » ranked pretty well on the charts fourth in England and top ten in Ireland and South Africa, as well as the top 30 in Australia.

tep Back... I want to step back! Second single of « Rhythm Of Love », « Step Back In Time » is a track written, arranged and produced by a team we have been talking about since the beginning of this throwback calendar, Stock Aitken and Waterman. The song was recorded in London and mixed in California and is in a way a tribute to the sound and culture of the 70s. This track wasn’t originally meant to be the second single because « What Do I Have To Do ? » was supposed to be one. The song unfortunately never ranked number one but that did not prevent it from being certified gold in Australia. A music video was shot and directed by Nick Egan in Los Angeles and this is also the first video she shot outside of Australia or England. Kylie seeks to pay tribute to the culture and personalities of the 70s because this era celebrates disco music. This track is still sung at concerts, and the last time she sang it on tour dates back to the « Kiss Me Once Tour ».

IMpossible princess
e now go to an album that most fans love and one of the most personal that Kylie has created: « Impossible Princess », which was re-titled « Kylie Minogue » in Europe following the death of Lady Diana the same year (which also delayed the release of the album). The singer had signed under Deconstruction and had just started a relationship with the French photographer Stéphane Sednaoui, who embarked her on a journey across North America, Asia and Australasia to help her find the inspiration for her future album. Encouraged by him and Nick Cave, Kylie decided to write the lyrics of this opus and move towards more experimental content that mixes genres with themes based on freedom of expression, relationships and emotions. She recorded her first demos in Chippenham, alongside Dave Seaman and Real World Studios in Box Wiltshire, England. Four singles are from this opus: « Some Kind Of Bliss », « Did It Again », « Breathe » and « Cowboy Style » but unfortunately the success in the charts never really happened, the album reaching the top 10 only in Australia (where it was certified platinum), Scotland and the United Kingdom. The cover was photographed by Stéphane Sednaoui and inspired by Japanese pop culture and especially the work of Nobuyoshi Araki. The name of the album is inspired by Billy Childish’s book « Poems To Break The Harts Of Impossible Princesses ».

nother track that brings us back to distant memories (or unknown memories for the younger group that I’m part of) - « Never Too Late », the third single from the album « Enjoy Yourself ». This track has not been performed in more than four tours of the singer, the latest, the « Kiss Me Once Tour » where Kylie did a medley of her biggest hits with PWL. The song ranked number one in Ireland, fourth in England (and still certified silver with 200,000 copies sold), and in the top 10 in many other countries, including Australia. Of course, a music video was filmed, by Pete Cornish, where we see the singer in different outfits, some pretty cabaret ones, others more cowgirl or Japanese girl. et’s go back to the pop dance Kylie that we know with the track « The Other Boys » by Nervo, a duet between Kylie Minogue and Jake Shears with the presence of Nile Rodgers... In short, a dream poster! The track is included on the Nervo’s album and has never been released on one of Kylie’s opus, the singer has never performed it live. Miriam Nervo, one of the two sisters, said, « These guys [Kylie Minogue and Jake Shears] are such strong artists that they put their creative stamp on everything, so I think it was a real creative thing, very natural, that just worked really well. I love Nile’s guitar bit! It’s amazing, it just brought it to a whole new level, it was the icing on the cake ». « The Other Boys » ranked first on the US Hot Dance Club Songs Billboard.

eleased October 24th, 2012, « The Abbey Road Sessions » is a compilation of the Kylie’s best songs recorded in orchestral version. Released for the 25-year career of the singer, this album was built with the help of Steve Anderson and Colin Elliot. The sixteen tracks were totally reworked to offer a unique version and were re-recorded in the legendary studios of Abbey Road in London with the band of Kylie and a complete acoustic orchestra. The album was apparently recorded in two weeks and allowed Kylie to give life to her songs differently. The first excerpt was « Flower », originally written in 2007, which Kylie had premiered exclusively in her new version at the BBC Proms In The Park in September of the same year. « On A Night Like This » was subsequently selected as the second single on December 17th. The singer performed some of her tracks live in several tv shows whether in France, England or even the United States! « The Abbey Road Sessions » missed first place in England ranking second but was however certified gold by the British Phonographic Industry.

KYLIE MINOGUE BETTER THE DEVIL YOU KNOW « I was longing for choice and there wasn’t really a part in the Hit Factory’s machinery or ethos for this. Out of the studios and confines of PWL, I started to experiment where I could: with image. I wanted to develop, to experience different things and express myself beyond primary colours and a shallow set of TV answers. I was bound to and did make mistakes, but I believe that if you don’t allow yourself to make mistakes then you’re not making much. I was 21 and I was growing up. My own sexual revolution...». (Kylie, LaLaLa Book). « Better The Devil You Know » is a mix of all these things: #CareerHighlight #WoahWoahWoah #Anthem #Banger #Reinvention #TurningPoint #MasterPiece #Classic #Iconic #Timeless #Raunchy #SuchABop! #PopPerfection and many more…
To cut a long story short, « Better The Devil You Know » is one of the most hugely significant songs Kylie ever recorded and is the first major milestone in her career. Lovers, welcome to my favourite Kylie era!
Focus • Better The Devil You Know
BACKGROUND Early 1990 : Kylie was 21 and was dating INXS singer Michael Hutchence. They had turned up together for their first public appearance as a couple at The Delinquents Premiere in December 1989 in Australia, but had already been together for a while. Michael gave Kylie confidence, he helped her among many other things - to stand up for herself and to take things further. But also, even without Michael having anything to do with it, Kylie was rapidly Nicole Bonython growing up. She wanted to move away from her innocent girl-next-door image, because she just wasn’t that girl anymore. Kylie and fashion met at the same point. It was like she was the right person, right body, right product, right fashion moment, and there was a wonderful serendipity. I think that together we started a ball rolling that she continued and developed and expanded upon ».
In addition, at the very same time, Kylie had become close friends with Nicole Bonython, who was the wife of photographer Grant Matthews (Kylie had already worked with him a lot at that stage). Nicole is a stylist (and also fashion Editor of Australian Magazine Follow Me) and had created the « noughts and crosses » So basically, Stock, Aitken and Waterman had no dress for The Delinquents Premiere in OZ. choice but to grow up also, and they did: « Better The Unlike the other stylists that Kylie had worked with Devil You Know » was their most dramatic change in until now, Nicole helped her to develop her style direction yet. a heavy bassline, intoxicating vocal hooks and a killer chorus. We can still recognise the stuttering vocal tricks of previous material but the beat is clubbier, the track is - like Kylie - more mature. The songwriting is stronger, the production is dynamic and Kylie is more confident vocally. The song was recorded at PWL London Studios in early March 1990 and released as a single on 30 April 1990 (to coincide with the « Enjoy Yourself Tour »).
SAW came up with this idea when they found out that Kylie had stopped dating Jason and was going out with Michael Hutchence. They didn’t like Kylie and Michael’s relationship much, and Waterman commented how it was « better the devil you know » (basically meaning she should have stayed with Jason) because they feared their lives were going to be hell as a consequence. I wonder if Kylie knew this when she recorded the song …
It was influenced by D Mob’ and Cathy Dennis’ hit « C’mon and Get My Love » (just listen to the first In short… few seconds, you’ll recognize…) Although Stock Aitken and Waterman were used to marketing their early Hi-NRG successes to a gay market, they had never experienced anything like this before. This song clearly marked a new phase in Kylie’s career, but at the same time, it was kind of the beginning of the end of her relationship with SAW… They were still going to work together for a few years, but, it would never be like it was before. Kylie was not a puppet anymore. As of that moment, Kylie’s control of her looks expanded into gaining final veto over which songs made it onto her next albums. With « Better The Devil You Before « Better The Devil You Know », most of Ky- Know », she was not satisfied with PWL’s version so lie’s fans were pre-teenage girls, who’d never even requested that it be remixed to suit the sexy « athlestepped in a night club but this song had a momen- ticism » she wanted to project in the accompanying tous effect: it was adopted by the gay audience and video. SAW disapproved, but she was right and it was being played in the hippest clubs (especially the worked wonders. « Mad March Hare » remix), so all of a sudden, Kylie became a gay icon and had gained credibility in the William Baker said : clubs! « The track transferred well onto the dancefloor and heralded a long reign for Kylie as Add to that the promo video, and all of a sudden it the new queen of disco... a pop princess ». became clear that Kylie was no longer that « cute and shy » little teenage popstar, she had become sexy CHARTS and sultry. Basically it means that when you are facing two options, it’s better to choose the more familiar one, even if it is undesirable. When it comes to people, it means that it’s better to deal with somebody bad or difficult (…) who is familiar than to make a change and perhaps have to deal with somebody even worse. 13 www.kylie-world.com

Focus • Better The Devil You Know The single was a commercial success (although it deserved much more chart success if you ask me), and peaked inside the top 30 of most countries’ charts: • UK : It became Kylie’s 5th non-consecutive Top 2 single. It never managed to hit the top spot as it was blocked by Adamski’s song « Killer ». It stayed at #2 for two consecutive weeks and spent a total of 10 weeks in the charts. It was certified Silver (Over 200,000 copies). In May 2018 (officialcharts.com) said it was one of her 40 top UK sellers of all time. • Australia : it peaked at #4 and was certified Platinum. • Ireland : #4 • Belgium : debuted at #28 and peaked at 5 (it is one of Kylie’s most successful singles in that country) • Finland : #7 • Spain : #11 • France and Sweden : #13 • Netherlands : debuted at #96 and peaked at #16 • Switzerland : #21 • Germany : #24 • Austria and New Zealand : #27. Even though it was a number one club chart crack, the single failed to gain American recognition.
Kylie. He added the song was « absolutely perfect for the unknowing ». • Tim Sendra from AllMusic did not highlight it from her 2012 compilation but said « it's nice to hear 1990's « Better the Devil You Know » next to 2010's « All the Lovers » and realize that Kylie has never been less than a perfect pop star ». • Jason Shawahn from About.com said that « « Better The Devil You Know », « What Do I Have To Do » and « Wouldn't Change A Thing » are nothing if not pop masterpieces ». • Hunter Felt from PopMatters said « There are pure pop moments, such as « I Should Be So Lucky » and the gorgeous « Je Ne Sais Pas Pourquoi », almost soulful rave-ups such as « Better the Devil You Know »».
THE ICONIC VIDEO It was the first time Kylie had the final say on how she presented herself on video.
CRITICS/REVIEWS (OF THE SONG) Most music critics loved the song! They acclaimed Kylie’s new provocative persona, as « Better The Devil You Know » destroyed her girl-next-door soap image and introduced a sexier Kylie to the world, and they complimented the song itself, feeling it was one of her best songs.
« There are the videos from the start of my career and then it goes to « Hello, what has happened? There has been a big change in this girls’ life » and it was him and it’s just one of those little things that you do. I wanted to get my little personal think in there. That song, that video, that time was a big turning point for me, and the song has become an anthem ».
Here are some of the reviews I found: • Smash Hits Review 1990 : This is the single performed on « Going Live » a couple of weeks ago, although it’s only now been released. It’s by far the best thing both Kylie and SAW have done since « Wouldn’t Change A Thing », and by miles the best pop song out of this fortnight’s « choice » selection. Apart from the basic fact that it’s a classic tune (a chart-topper if ever there was) what really makes it is that Kylie’s voice is in absolutely tip-top shape - there’s no doubt she’s a much improved singer these days. If half the songs on her next LP are half as good as this then it’ll be completely brilliant.
The video was directed by Paul Goldman, who is • Chris True from AllMusic highlighted the song as an an Australian director who has worked on over 200 album standout, as well as a highlight from Ultimate videos for various artists including Silverchair, Berlin, 14 www.kylie-world.com

Crowed House. It was filmed in Melbourne in early April 1990 : the apartment scenes were filmed on Beaconsfield Parade, the shot in the see-through raincoat on St Kilda Beach near Port Melbourne. In the video there are several different scenes of Kylie: • running away from someone down an alley in a plastic see-through mackintosh and nearly falling over ; • dancing in a tiny black dress with the straps falling down (oops!) against a backdrop of flames ; • relaxing in a naked embrace with a big muscular black man, playing the role of her lover ; • dancing with a red wig and her first pair of metallic hotpants and a lycra bra top ; • dancing (with dancers around her) in the same hotpants and this time, a grey hoody crop-top.
Kylie was looking for a reaction and she certainly got one. The video caused a stir and grabbed the headlines ! • First of all, because it features Kylie dancing suggestively and showing a sexy side that no one had ever seen before ; • Then because she’s writhing provocatively in the arms of a naked black man almost twice her size ; • But the media’s main issue was not that the man was big, it was that he was black (it shouldn’t have caused such a fuss but it did) – how shocking (not!).
In the video she also sports a chunky ring with the letter « M » on it, a reference to Michael of course. « There was a story with the ring I have on my finger in the video » Kylie said later « It was a ring that was Michael’s and I think a fan gave it or made it for him. It was just silver and it had an M on it and he – and I – used to wear it. We had just started going out then and you see the difference ». Kylie said this is one of the most important clips of her career, because that’s when she seized control of her image after a series of cheesy videos for her early singles. She recalled years later : Number one magazine wrote « Raunchy appears to be the current Kylie buzz-word - and have you seen « In the early days, I would sit there and that new vid yet ? Wow ! » Kylie has often referred it would be like, « Kylie would you like to to the fact that she grew up in front of her audience; see your record sleeve » ? « They gave me a lecture, it was very patronising. I flew back to Australia to make the video, we pushed it even harder. They were really upset about her being in the arms of the black guy, where she was kind of topless. Just to annoy them we did one take of her singing the entire video in the arms of the black guy and sent it to them saying it was the B-side. They really struggled with the video ». Isa, October 2K18

THE Golden Tour HAS STARTED ! The first show happened in Newcastle on September 18th : Kylie Minogue officially started the « Golden Tour », her fifteenth tour, in England before going through Ireland and Europe a little later. Nobody knew what to expect due to the little information that we had before the start of the tour and during the ticket selling, but the singer did not disappoint and delivered a show lived up to its reputation, with new versions of songs, amazing outfits, and of course, the glitter we all expected. And what’s better this month than to dedicate our edition to a special focus on the first leg of the « Golden Tour », with a return on the milestones on the different shows, merchandising, setlist, press reviews and all you need to know if you have not seen the concert yet!

THE TICKETS ON SALE
hortly after the announcement of « Kylie Presents Golden » (and the success of this promotional tour), the singer put a smile on the faces of many fans who did not manage to have their tickets by announcing a tour in England and Ireland, with a total of 13 dates. Pre-sales for the fans were organized, everyone knew the price of the packages and tickets and everything was rather well managed until the day before the sale - the prices of the tickets increased (by nearly 100%) and the Golden Circle was no longer included in the Early Entry package. It was the drama that everyone remembers, the purchase of Early Entry packages believing to be in the Golden Circle while this pack only included a standard ticket. Fortunately, Ticketmaster was quite responsive on the subject and offered the exchange or refund to people who were not satisfied. Note also that at that time, many thought that the scene would be like for « Aphrodite », which means with a Golden Circle in the center of the stage, and that the Early Entry would be on the outer sides. We will come back to this a little later when talking about the actual stage. After a few days, Kylie announced that she was adding a new date, the fourteenth of this first part of the tour, at the London O2 Arena on September 28th. Here is a summary of the different tickets and packages with a visual of them.

THE STAGE
H
ere we go with the first real subject: the stage... And for once, the surprise was kept until the last moment, which may be an advantage adding up to the experience, but as we have mentioned, it was a huge disadvantage when booking tickets. Indeed, different plans were shown for different dates on Ticketmaster and it was impossible to know what to expect as so many options were possible. We had everything: Golden Circle in the middle, Golden Circle on the side, Early Entry at the front row, same stage as « Aphrodite », same stage as the « Kiss Me Once Tour », no catwalk... In short, a big chaos, which evolved over the months, without ever having an answer or an official drawing of the stage. In the end, it was the plan of the O2 Arena (which has also evolved over the days) that was closest to the truth... And we remember that we had a good laugh when we first saw it, looking for the person who added the catwalk probably using Paint... 29 www.kylie-world.com

A
nd the day of the first date, panic on board, nobody knew what the scene looked like, even at 5pm. We even realized that no one from the arena’s staff knew that there was meant to be a category Golden Circle, even better. I’ll let you read all the details of this great moment in En’s Tour Diaries, but imagine the panic, one hour before the opening of the doors. It was finally by looking at someone’s security plan (who was probably wondering what he was doing there because of his interest rate), that we realized that there was a catwalk that had more or less the shape of a snake on the map. Nothing too specific, but it did make us feel better at that time. The surprise was real we arrived in the arena (let’s also not talk about the details of how people in Golden Circle were treated in Newcastle with a lamentable organization as rarely seen - so cool to have waited a whole day, to make us run right, then left, then right with the same answer every time: no no it’s on the other side - I think we
don’t need to tell you that the people who came at 5pm did not hesitate for a second and jumped in front of you in the queue even when they knew some of us had been there since 9am, and they easily got along with it…) WELL. After having been escorted into a small hall, the tickets were checked and taken and a wristbands were given to us. WE WERE FINALLY IN. The space was immense. Almost a third of the arena was reserved for the Golden Circle. To be honest, we did not go around too much at first, we just ran to be front row. It was after that we decided to observe the stage a little better. It obviously consisted of a main stage, a catwalk on the right side and a center at the end of it. After seeing photos taken from the seats, we easily guessed that the shape of the stage represents a G, like « Golden » ! And in the end, everything seemed more logical and the plan of the stage of London drawn on Paint was finally the most faithful.
THE STAGE THE ELEMENTS
T
he stage is composed of many visual elements and obviously, as soon as you arrive it is the first thing that you see: • The golden glitter. Everywhere, shaping the « G » even better. • A giant screen at the back of the stage with six other screens on the sides and lights that light up according to the acts to separate them.
• A disco ball above the stage, in the middle of a circle that changes color depending on the songs and where different lights are hung. Another disco ball is located above the regular pit. • On the left we find a kind of phone booth. • In the middle the material of the musicians is installed. • A huge door that makes it obvious that Kylie will walk out of it at some point

hanks to the space in the Golden Circle, it was quite easy to find a good spot to see Kylie, it all depends on what you want to see and what are your favorite tracks. • The main stage is probably the best place you can choose. Kylie spends most of her time there, so this place is highly recommended if you want to see her a lot. On the other hand, when she leaves for the end of the catwalk, you will have to either turn around or look at the giant screens but know that the dancers stay very often on the main when Kylie is at the catwalk, which allows you to interact with them. • The catwalk very clearly is the part of the stage where it is quite complicated to interact with Kylie, especially if you are on the right side of it. The singer stops very rarely, so you will see her just passing by there but not stopping much. We never did this spot, but we also have some doubts about the visibility of the concert on this side of the stage since it’s pretty high. • The end of the catwalk is a very good spot because you have a global vision of what is happening. Kylie is there for some tracks including the opening with « Golden ». However, we found that the show focused more on the main stage than on the end of the catwalk, so if you want to really see her close for a long time, it’s not the best option. But then, if you absolutely totally crazily adore « The One », catwalk is the place to be.

bout the Golden Circle... This space is reserved for people wanting to be the closest to the stage, obviously, and it’s AMAZING and BIG, actually it might be a little too big depending on the fill rate. For example, 20 minutes before the start of the Newcastle concert, the Golden Circle was empty. Two rows of people at the main, not much more at the catwalk (actually I did the show with no one behind me). This part being the one that Kylie sees the most, it was decided to get people in Early Entry and standard to fill it, which seems normal in itself to not have the first part of the arena empty. This is a Bournemouth : great idea in that situation, but let’s remember that people in MAIN STAGE Golden Circle paid more than £165 for their ticket, whereas EARLY ENTRY people in the normal pit paid £79 for it to end up at the 3rd row or even at the front row as a lady next to us managed to get. So next time, maybe they should put the concept of having Early Entry in Golden Circle and having regular Golden GOLDEN CIRCLE GENERAL ADMISSION Circle ticket, and maybe adapt it based on ticket sales so that people who pay £100 less are not at the same spot as those who paid more... Golden Circle was perfectly calculated in Bournemouth (where the catwalk was way smaller), concentrating people only on the left side of the stage, with the Early END CATWALK Entry at the front row of the catwalk. THE OPENING ACT
A
t the beginning, no opening act was planned (we had also been informed by email that Kylie began at 8pm on the stage), however we got to know the day before that the boys of Sonic Yootha were going to do the warm up before the concert, from the opening of the doors until Kylie comes on stage. The « band » is composed of three people and yes, I put band in quotation marks. Indeed, they organize parties mainly in Liverpool which brings together the heteros, the homos, the drag queens... It is a melting pot of young, older people and all kinds. The boys decided to create these nights because they had no place to go and listen to the music they wanted, including real pop, like Kylie, Pet Shop Boys, Patti Smith. Every month, you can find a Sonic Yootha party at 24 Kitchen Street in Liverpool, all below a huge disco ball. If you are from the city and a fan of Jake Shears, they were also doing his opening act for his concert. Very little information is available about their career on social networks and internet but know that the DJs were able to put an awesome atmosphere in the arena before the arrival of Kylie on stage and this is the first time that we see an opening act to please so many people. At the beginning, they were announced only for the Newcastle’s show, but the boys followed the singer on the whole tour. For the moment, there is no information on whether they will open the concerts for Kylie in Europe, but we really hope that they will be present !

THE LIVE SHOW
THE LIVE SHOW THE STORY OF THE SHOW
B
efore talking directly about the main subject, let’s put things in context. Kylie was posting teasers for a few weeks on social networks, to get us in the mood for tour and to start up our imaginations. We did not know what to expect, new music video, introduction of the « Golden Tour », surprise for the interval between the two acts ? In the end, it turned out that the videos were a perfect illustration of what we would have on stage, with the outfits, backdrops and note also the phone booth. For this tour, Kylie wanted to do something rather narrative, thus staging herself during the acts of the concert.
The first point to note is the poster that the singer unveiled early in the day, which refers to the movies of the 60s. Remember, Kylie had spoken about the soundtrack of « The Good, The Bad and the Ugly » by Ennio Morricone in several interviews, that inspired her for the beginning of « Golden ». Well if you look at the poster that the singer put on her social networks and you compare it to the poster of the movie, you will see many similarities! Another point that we could see in the teasing video, the jacket of Kylie with « Miss Pearl » written on it, somehow the character of the singer during this tour.
The Good, The Bad and the Ugly The global story describes the journey in the life of a woman who was heartbroken and who leaves to escape reality and tries to find herself. Divided into two acts, the first recounts the loss of the person and her search for
Kylie Golden Tour escape while the second act speaks more about reconstruction and finding happiness. In each of the acts, several sub-parts take us in her story, and make us think of a play by the similarities on the acts, scenes and the interval.

W
e start with the first scene of the first act, « Desert Sunrise ». You need to know that the screens are already lit when you arrive in the arena, with a picture of the night broadcast in the background. The musicians start to play the introduction of « Golden », which we could see in the video teasing. There’s an image of a desert where the day begins to rise in the background, with flashing red lights. The dancers also enter the stage, then the silence. This is the moment when Kylie comes on stage, at the end of the catwalk (surprise for the people who are at the main by the way), sitting on a mountain of luggages. We do not see her face, we have to wait for a few seconds before the lights focus on her, lights that can be interpreted as the rising sun especially with the words « Don’t you feel that sun in your face ? ». The singer continues with « Get Outta My Way », where she is joined by the dancers before singing the first notes of « Better The Devil You Know » where Miss Pearl hopes that her love will recontact her even if everything was not going well anyway. Kylie then leaves the stage for a quick costume change and a video starts on the giant screen, which leads us to the second scene, « The High And Dry ». We see the singer in a bar that
joy with «In
brings us once again to the western and she sings a cover of « Blue Velvet » by Bobby Vinton. At the end of the song, the singer reappears through the big door on the right side to sing the last words of the track before starting with « Confide In Me » with subdued lights and an incredible intensity in her voice. In the story, this part can make think of the sadness of a separation. There follows « I Believe In You » which brings some hope. Kylie steps on the catwalk to sing the track before offering her rose to someone in the audience and singing a few words of « Where The Wild Roses Grow ». After this rather sad part, let’s go back to the 34 www.kylie-world.com
joy with « In Your Eyes » : Miss Pearl has just found someone who likes her and does not hesitate to say it loud ! (This new version is also fantastic, we will note the moment when the lights are lit at the same time as the « boom » and where Kylie and the dancers strike a pose). Then we move to « A Lifetime To Repair », a track that talks about break-up and depression if you’re getting hurt again by love. For this song, the singer is standing on a pool table, which drive us once again into the world of the western bar which is a nod to the country atmosphere of this album. Laeti, October 2K18
Focus • Golden Tour Miss Pearl then leaves the bar and jumps into a Shelby 68‘ as it can be seen on the giant screen behind the stage, and which opens the third scene: « Nothing’s Behind Me, Everything’s In Front Of Me ». Kylie comes back to sing the song dedicated to her dad’s car, « Shelby 68 ». She then begins « Radio On », a song about the power of music in our lives, especially when things are not going well. The lights go from red to blue, with a new version of « Wow » a little more naked than usual but which retains all its energy especially when it comes to the chorus. Kylie is clear for the following song : « Do you know this person that you can not get out of your head ? » And here we go for « Can’t Get You Out Of My Head », in a slightly more rock - country version where acoustic guitars are present, with a mix of the track « The Chain » Fleetwood Mac. In the background, there is a projection of a very 60-70 atmosphere with people lining up to access to a telephone booth. While the band continues to play the track of Fleetwood Mac, Kylie and a dancer head to the left side of the stage, where the singer puts on a denim jacket with the name of the city where she is in. Then we hear a phone ring, before Kylie says « I’ve been waiting for this call », before leaving the stage. Thus ends the first act of the concert, with as message an alert for Miss Pearl to wake up and go forward in her life. During the interval, no changes happen on stage, only the backdrop screen changes showing garage images. That most people probably did not see because they went to pee or buy beer for the second act (we can relate). 36 www.kylie-world.com

Laeti, October 2K18
Focus • Golden Tour After 20 minutes, the singer is back for the fourth scene, « The Bike Rally », in a very sexy outfit as this new version of « Slow », a mash up with « Being Boiled » of The Human League, starts. We are suddenly in a garage, with three motorcycles and leather clothes. Miss Pearl has regained her confidence by dancing with strangers, and continues with « Kids », saying clearly that she has no regrets and that she is moving forward. Then there’s « The One », a song about a person you’d like to conquer and a future love... This is perfectly linked to « Stop Me From Falling », where Miss Pearl is totally in love with the person. It is also now when we get to know the name of her alter-ego because it is written on her leather jacket, with other badges including « 68 », her year of birth. The fifth scene, « At The Picnic After The Bike Rally » continues with « Wouldn’t Change A Thing » and elements of « I’ll Still Be Loving You ». It’s like a goodbye to the man she really loved and broke her heart. When you listen to the lyrics (and it works with all tracks at the show), you can feel the continuity of this story. For example, at that time, Kylie wishes him only the best : « I hope you find someone that will love you like I do, I’ll be strong inside, but I’ll still be
loving you ». Then we go to « Especially For You » where confetti in the shape of tree leaves fall from the sky. In the background, the forest. Miss Pearl wants to be lost to find herself. This is how she goes on with « Lost Without You ». The lights make the room completely dark and light up only on Kylie. In the end, many lasers light up on the public, green, yellow and red, which suggests an aurora borealis in the night. This scene ends with « All The Lovers » where we note the presence of an explosion of rainbow confetti, which represents joy and love. Life is made of dreams. And the sixth scene is one. By the way, do you remember the name of Kylie’s first tour ? The « Disco In Dream Tour »... A nice wink ! This sequence, simply entitled « Studio 54 » is a tribute to the extravagant evenings that it was. Miss Pearl arrives in the club with a golden glitter dress for a night she is not ready to forget. If you look at the dancers, you can see Jenny who is dressed as Andy Warhol and who perfectly fits that role by throwing fake money into the audience. And what better to start this session than « New York City » (a track that has never been released and that was played live only... In New York !), before moving to « Raining Glitter » where
39 www.kylie-world.com
again, we get covered in golden confetti. The medley keeps going on with « On A Night Like This » where the dream of a perfect night continues : « I wanna stay forever ». Kylie returns to the main stage to perform « The Loco-Motion », with bits of « Bad Girls » by Donna Summer... Toot Toot... Aaah. Beep Beep! This part ends with « Spinning Around » where Kylie’s alter-ego proudly proclaims that she has found her way. For the Encore, a part simply titled « The Nashville Rider » : the singer comes back inspired by her disco dream and decides to go out dancing. The night is projected on a city on giant screens, « Love At First Sight » begins and can be considered as a letter of love to her new man. Miss Pearl concludes her story with « Dancing », the track that reflects the show we’ve just seen, with the ups and downs of life but above all the conclusion that we must continue to celebrate the things we live for no matter our age or hard knocks. It is also there that she finds that all these events made her live a real journey through her emotions and feelings. At the end of the concert, the night becomes new day and a new destiny awaits Miss Pearl.

THE LIVE SHOW THINGS TO CATCH AT THE CONCERT
A
s a good collector we are sure you are, you certainly think of merchandising but no ! There are other items and collectors’ masterpieces that you can pick up and take home for free ! Do not expect to leave with a piece of the stage, it is not possible, nor Kylie herself, but here is a detail of the objects that you can get during shows : Confetti in the shape of tree leaves There are two types, brown and red ones, and you can get them if you are standing on the right side of the main stage, next to the catwalk during « Especially For You ».
Kylie’s denim jacket No, unfortunately, Kylie does not throw her denim jacket into the crowd, so you do not have to kill anyone to get it. In general, after each concert, you can find a message on social networks from one of the local radio stations in the city where Kylie sang saying you can try and take part in a contest the next day to win it. Nothing complicated, either you have to register on social networks and comment on a post or call them. Know that the denim jacket is signed by Kylie herself !
The rose
After performing « I Believe In You » and going back to the end of the catwalk, Kylie takes a break to talk to the audience a bit before giving out a rose that is placed on her mic stand. She usually chooses the left side of the end of the catwalk and sings a few lyrics from « Where The Wild Roses Grow » to the lucky person she picks. Good luck for the conservation of the rose until the end of the concert, as it is a little before the break, we advise you to go buy a bottle of water (do not try beer as En would probably recommend) to be able to bring it back home in a not too bad condition.
Rainbow colored confetti « All The Lovers » ends with a lot of confetti in the colors of the LGBT flag. To have a chance to get a confetti of each color of the rainbow, you must be in Golden Circle. If you cannot catch in the air, do not panic you can go for a search of the colors that you miss at the end of the concert, by digging on the ground (and you will probably find a lot of beer glasses and other objects or things unknown and with a little luck some money).
Polaroids Polaroid photos of Kylie are taken during « Can’t Get You Out Of My Head » by the dancers. To have a chance to have one, go to the main stage again. 42 www.kylie-world.com

Banknotes Ok be careful, you cannot pay your shopping with this and it’s a shame when you see the amount written on it ! These banknotes are thrown into the crowd by Jenny, dressed as Andy Warhol, during the introduction of the « Studio 54 » part, at the end of the catwalk. To be honest with you, it is quite difficult to get some because they tend to fall between the stage and the barriers and you have to ask the security people to get it to you (and god knows it’s a real mission when we see their interest for the fans and what happens). Even if a very few banknotes are thrown each time, know that it is not worth buying them for the inappropriate prices on the internet. Two types of notes are available: dollars and Dutch banknotes. For this to be clearer, you can find pictures illustrating them below. And yes, they are very pretty and see the head of Kylie on a banknote, it’s super cool.
Glitter Yes, what better than golden glitter that fall on us... Well this obviously occurs on « Raining Glitter » ! Kylie is at the end of the catwalk when she sings this song, so get ready to be covered in it completely (it gets everywhere, into your bra, your shoes... Chances are good that you have it everywhere in your bag and your house after). These confetti are of course only available in Golden Circle (sorry for people with normal tickets or sitting...). Know that it also falls in white version at the end of the concert and « Dancing » (and there they do not go slowly, avoid opening your mouth at that time you may choke, especially if you open your mouth to «sing» in front of the confetti-machine at the exact time they turn on - tested for you). Golden ribbons To finish the collector section on a good note, let’s talk about the last thing you can bring home : the golden ribbons that fall down during « Spinning Around ». There are two possibilities for you: either a dancer (or Kylie herself!) throws it your way and far enough for you to reach it, that’s the way you can get it without too many problems. Option two is that it gets stuck on the stage and you have to wait until the end of the concert to be able to ask a security to grab it for you. Know that if you have one, you can share it with your neighbor - the ribbon alone is about 4 meters long and you will not need to bring the whole piece back home with you - unless you want to use it as a curtain or to mummify your husband / wife, obviously.
The little Golden Glow poster But what is it ? This is the beer that is consumed by the musicians and dancers on stage. Actually, we have no idea how to get this little sticker unless you get very lucky and someone from Kylie’s team hands you one.

#1 - NEWCASTLE
chroniclelive.co.uk by Simon Duke Kylie Minogue delivers Golden performance on opening night of new tour in Newcastle While she teased fans that she’d be singing a mix of classics and new tracks, there were no « Golden tour » setlist spoilers ahead of opening night, meaning every single song was a surprise. And I’m pleased to report that there were plenty of welcome shocks. While early 90s banger « Shocked » sadly didn’t make the cut, there some unexpected tunes dusted off from Kylie’s now massive back catalogue that must have shocked a few people with their appearance. Looking an absolute vision in hot pink, Kylie cut a stunning figure as she rose to her second stage at the end of a catwalk to make her grand but rather understated entrance, much to the delight of those who forked out for gold circle tickets. Kicking off as you might well expect with Golden’s title track, Kylie dazzled in front of a set with visuals that looked like they’d been lifted straight from a picture perfect postcard of the Wild West. There was an early trip back to her much celebrated 2010 album « Aphrodite » for the second song of the evening - the anthemic and vastly underrated « Get Outta My Way ». It was back to 2018 then for « One Last Kiss » but it was PWL classic « Better The Devil You Know » which really took things up a notch and got many people in the seats on the side up dancing. The archives were utilised again after a costume change with Kylie emerging in a striking and very sultry and sophisticated white trouser suit to perform a very mean and moody « Confide in Me », complete with thrashing drums and guitars, and then « Breathe » - taken from her « Impossible Princess » album- which was one of the opening night’s setlist’s most surprising additions. Kylie’s much publicised and much envied perfect posterior night not have been in hot pants but it looked amazing in a pair of high waisted jeans as she brought Golden’s « Shelby 68 » and « Radio On » to the live arena. The first half of a bumper two part show left the Geordie audience wanting more as « Wow » paved the way for one of the biggest hits of Kylie’s il-
lustrious the edgy and earwomningly excellent « Can’t Get You Out of My Head » at the end of which Kylie donned a denim jacket with « Newcastle Golden » emblazoned on the back. Country Kylie transformed into Biker Chick Kylie in time for the start of the second half which arrived in blazing style with a rocked up « Slow » and a raucous rendition of « Kids ». Giving fellow Aussie Olivia Newton John a run for her money in some tight leather pants, Kylie then delivered « X » favourite « The One ». Things briefly became a French affair for a quick burst of « Je Ne Sais Pas Pourquoi » before a first foray into the Newcastle stage for one of Golden’s trump cards « Stop Me From Falling ». Kylie then hopped into a time machine to take things back to the days of perms and stonewashed denim for a back to back of « Wouldn’t Change A Thing » and « Especially For You », with the Newcastle crowd being Jason Donovan for the night. The arena was treated to an exclusive first live performance of « Lost Without You » before the Metro Radio Arena became Studio 54 for a high octane medley of « New York City »/« Raining Glitter »/« On A Night Like This ». There was even a place for « The Locomotion » before « Spinning Around » strutted into proceedings in all its sequin glad glory. The « Kiss Me Once Tour » was good but the « Golden Tour » is AMAZING! When it comes to divas and gay icons I’ve always been more of a Celine and Whitney boy but Kylie Minogue put on of the best pop shows I’ve ever experienced. With confetti in abundance, well executed and deliciously camp choreography and so many Kylie classics, the « Golden Tour » is a must see. And she looks incredible!

Focus • Golden Tour sunderlandecho.com by Katy Wheeler Kylie Minogue proved she has the Midas touch yet again as she opened her « Golden Tour » at Newcastle Arena last night. This was the opening night of her new tour in the year she celebrated turning 50 (she still doesn’t look a day over 35) and there was plenty of surprise tracks as she treated fans to a pick’n’mix of her pop hits. The visuals were equally as varied as we were taken on a tour-de-force of Kylie through the decades. In homage to her current album « Golden », which was partly recorded in Nashville, we began in the Wild West with a pretty-inpink Kylie encircled by the gyrations of cowboy hat-wearing dancers as she performed the album’s title track against a desert backdrop. This was current day Country Kylie, but it wasn’t long, three songs in to be precise, before we were treated to Pop Princess Kylie as she dusted off « Better The Devil You Know » which led to an early doors mass sing-a-long in the packed arena. There were hints of her Indie Kylie phase as she passed a rose through the crowd with a brief rendition of « Where the Wild Roses Grow », her collaboration with Nick Cave, before breaking into « Confide in Me ». But on the whole this was an upbeat foray through the ages. As images of Kylie hitting the open road in a Shelby 68, for the track of the same name, flashed up on the screen, you get the impression that this is a woman that has finally found herself. She’s a performer not afraid to embrace her past, much to the delight of her fans as she treated them to « Especially For You ». Newcastle sang along in gusto, despite there being no sign of Jason. After a fan request, a brief acoustic of « Je Ne Sais Pas Pourquoi » also took us back to the glory days of the post Charlene and Scott era. With no support act, Kylie was on stage for two hours, twenty minutes, with a short break, and she certainly cranked up the arena’s electricity bill with the second half as the doors opened to Studio 54 and the arena became a giant glitter ball. Strobe lighting showered the crowd for « On a Night Like This », while Disco Kylie’s energetic dancers donned a rainbow of sequins for « Locomotion ». « This is the biggest disco I’ve been to in a while », said the pint-sized star who seemed genuinely excited at being back in the spotlight. An embroidered cape was whipped off for the finale to reveal a glittering green jumpsuit as modern day anthem, and perfect set finisher, « Dancing », rang out and the arena danced along with the golden girl. metro.news by Mark Lindores THIS has turned out to be a vintage year for Kylie Minogue. As well as returning to the top of the charts with her unexpected country detour « Golden » in April, she is marking the 30th anniversary of her debut single and album.
Clearly in a celebratory mood, Kylie kicked off her « Golden Tour » in Newcastle on Tuesday night with a 24-carat showcase of why she has managed to sustain three decades of pop stardom. Divided into two ‘acts’, and with Kylie looking resplendent in a succession of stunning costume changes, the twohour show took her from country hoedown to leatherclad biker rally to the glitzy disco excess of 1970s Studio 54. While the bulk of the first act showcased Country Kylie, the amped-up second act was packed with the hits and fan favourites that have seen her endure. « Slow », « Can’t Get You Out Of My Head » and « The Locomotion » were all given sonic makeovers to fit their respective settings, while the unexpected treat of an a capella rendition of 1988 hit « Je Ne Sais Pas Pourquoi » earned the biggest crowd sing-along of the night. With the exception of countless confetti drops and a superb laser show, the gig was pared down in terms of Kylie’s previous theatrical spectaculars, which was no bad thing as she has never appeared more relaxed onstage. With reports at the weekend suggesting she has been lined up for the ‘legend slot’ at next year’s Glastonbury festival, on the basis of the « Golden Tour », there is no more worthy recipient.

#2 - NOTTINGHAM
nottinghampost.com by Gemma Toulson The princess of pop may have celebrated her 50th birthday this year but there’s no sign of her crown slipping. Kylie Minogue brought the house down at the Motorpoint Arena on Thursday night with a mix of classic hits and tracks from latest album, « Golden ». She sang and danced her way across a stage which had been adapted into a runway in the shape of the letter « G ». Supported by a troupe of dancers dressed as cowboys, Kylie delighted a packed arena as she took to the stage against a Western themed backdrop, in keeping with the country inspired tracks on the new album. A seasoned live performer, she brought the crowd to its feet belting out the title track from the album, before bursting into an energetic performance of « Get Outta My Way » from 2010’s « Aphrodite ». Before you could take a breath she had moved on to one of the stand-out hits from the earlier stages of her career, « Better the Devil You Know ». After an interlude in which Kylie was shown performing a version of « Blue Velvet » on the huge screens behind the stage, she reappeared with a brooding version of « Confide in Me » - a fan favourite from her « Impossible Princess » era. Dressed all in white, « I Believe In You » was up next. The upbeat pop song has been given a Western twang for this tour. An a capella version of 80s ballad « Tears On My Pillow » was followed by « In Your Eyes » - a song that was a hit for the Australian songstress in the early noughties. More songs from « Golden », her recent number one album which she told the crowd is full of « personal stories », came next. « A Lifetime to Repair » she sang sitting, then standing on a pool table in the middle of the stage. Then came « Shelby 68’ », a song inspired by her dad’s car. Then it was « Radio On », a song she told the audience is about « how music can save you »... Things then livened up with a rendition of « Wow », the pop hit from her « X » album. A rousing « Can’t Get You Out Of My Head », which included a mash-up with the classic guitar riff from Fleetwood Mac’s « The Chain », closed the first set. It was during this that Kylie put on a denim jacket with « Nottingham » on the back, something she is doing for every city on this tour.
You », her hit duet with Jason Donovan which got all the audience singing along. It started to feel more like an old school Kylie concert towards the end of the second half when the stage was transformed into a disco and she performed « New York City » followed by « On A Night Like This ». With the audience already dancing along, it was time to bring out the dancefloor big guns and do the « Locomotion », then « Spinning Around » (although there wasn’t a pair of hot pants in sight). All too soon it was the encore, which began with « Love at First Sight » and ended with her recent hit, « Dancing ». By the end of the performance she seemed to have brought the vast majority of people in the Arena to their feet. While it may not have had as much glitz and glamour and over-the-top sets and costumes as her previous « Showgirl », « X » and « Aphrodite Les Folies tour », the « Golden Tour » stands alone as a great spectacle. This felt like a more personal performance; It was also great value for money as I counted that she got through at least 26 songs. Kylie did what Kylie does best; she gave a performance that was both emotional and energetic, engaging the audience in a way that felt authentic and sincere, at the same time putting on an entertaining and at times breathtaking show. The inclusion of tracks from her recent album meant the show felt fresh in a way which keeps her relevant but there was also enough of the older material for it to have an authentic Kylie feel.
After a 20 minute interval, she was back with « Slow » from her 2003 « Body Language » album, dressed as a biker and surrounded by dancers draped over motorcycles. Her two backing singers joined her to belt out the duet she recorded with Robbie Williams, « Kids ». Things slowed down for the intro to « The One », another hit from her « X » album. « Stop Me From Falling » was next, the stand out track from « Golden », a catchy tune which is even more impressive played live. It was then back to the early days of her career with « I Wouldn’t Change A Thing » and fan favourite « Especially For 55 www.kylie-world.com

Focus • Golden Tour #3 - BIRMINGHAM
birminghammail.co.uk by Adrian Caffery A rollercoaster concert showcasing 30 years of Kylie failed to disappoint; YEE-HAW! Kylie treated her fans to a foot-stompin’, rootin’ tootin’ show filled with cowgirl boots, leather chaps and Stetsons. After 30 years of « Pop Kylie », « Goth Kylie », « Indie Kylie » and « Dance Kylie » it was time for the latest incarnation of the pint-sized Aussie star - « Country Kylie ». Her latest album, « Golden », was recorded in, and inspired by, Nashville, Tennessee, and that set the template for the show, the third night of her UK tour. As a recording of Dolly Parton’s « 9 To 5 » faded away, Kylie sprung up in understated fashion from below a small stage in the shamefully sparse ‘golden circle’. Looking pretty in pink, she opened up with Golden’s title track, then her dancers gave « Get Outta My Way » and « Better The Devil You Know » a country feel. There was more denim on stage than you’d find at a B*Witched concert. Then « Lifetime To Repair », « Stop Me From Falling » and « In Your Eyes » were turned into hoedowns. I think Kylie missed a trick by not playing her 1997 song « Cowboy Style », but it turned out there was much more to the concert than the prevailing country theme; She wore a white trouser suit for a thumping « Confide In Me », the song which always shows off her soaring vocals like no other. Reworked versions of two big hitters followed, and while a clubbed-up « Wow » failed to.. er... wow, a rocking « Can’t Get You Out Of My Head » was worth the ticket price alone. After an interval, Kylie reappeared as a leather-clad biker and continued to experiment, with a successful mash up of « Slow » and The Human League’s « Being Boiled ». A funky « Kids » got us out of our seats and everyone joined in « Especially For You », taking the lines originally sung by Kylie’s « Neighbours » co-star Jason Donovan. Despite the show being two hours long there was no room for her equally cheesey breakthrough single « I Should Be So Lucky » (thankfully - she’s better than that). Finally, we got to see the greatest of all the Kylies, with « Disco Kylie » transporting us to legendary New York club Studio 54 for a Friday night boogie. « The Loco-Motion » was given a radical makeover and had never sounded better, while I was left wondering how on earth « New York City » hadn’t made the cut for her latest album. In truth, there was a lot less spectacle than in previous Kylie concerts, with the extravagant stages we’ve become used to replaced by giant video screens. There were confetti explosions (during « Raining Glitter », of course) and a stunning light show for « On A Night Like
This », recycled from her previous tour. The show ended back in America’s Deep South, with some serious barn dancing to accompany « Dancing », her lead single off « Golden ». You wouldn’t think it to look at her but Kylie turned 50 this year, and on this evidence it’s clear she still has the Midas touch.
#4 - BOURNEMOUTH
www.visitbournemouth.com (Photo Review) When one of pop’s biggest names comes to Bournemouth we know we’re in for a treat, and Kylie Minogue at the Bournemouth International Centre didn’t fail to deliver. Kylie played Bournemouth on the 22nd September to a full BIC. The main floor was set out with no seating making one giant dance floor, with the stage extending in to the middle with a gold circle (to match her latest album, Golden) surrounding for serious fans. The capacity crowd lapped up Golden’s title track, then her dancers gave « Get Outta My Way » and « Better The Devil You Know » a country feel - foot stompin’ fun. She wore a white trouser suit for « Confide In Me », the song which always shows off her ability to hit the high notes like no other. Packed with hits, the first half was completed by « Wow » and « Can’t Get You Out of My Head ». After a 20 minute interval, Kylie came back to the stage as a leather-clad biker with a mash up of « Slow » and The Human League’s « Being Boiled ». « Kids » proved a crowd pleaser and suited the leather look, however unwelcome at the party were « The Loco-motion » and « Especially For You », too cheesy by far. Everyone was pleased that « I Should Be So Lucky » stayed away. Confetti cannons were on standby for a number of highlights including a shower of rainbow colours in « All The Lovers » and we were mesmerized by a laser light show during « Lost Without You ». The just over 2 hour show ended back in America’s Deep South, with some well-choreographed barn dancing to accompany « Dancing », her lead single off « Golden ». Other new tracks from « Golden » went down brilliantly with the crowd, particularly « Stop Me from Falling » and « A Lifetime to Repair ». It’s almost two decades since Kylie was last in Bournemouth and we hope to see her again soon.

#6-7-8 - LONDON
www.standard.co.uk by Gemma Samways Kylie Minogue at the O2 review: Pop queen shines on golden year victory lap With three months still to go, 2018 has already been a vintage year for Kylie Minogue. Since topping the charts back in April with 14th studio album « Golden », she’s celebrated her 50th birthday and the 30th anniversary of her eponymous debut, and is now embarking upon a stadium tour as a victory lap. On the opening night of her O2 takeover, Minogue proved a gracious host, repeatedly thanking the crowd for embracing the new material that peppered the greatest hits set. Complementing the country-tinged songs from « Golden », she appeared framed by video screens depicting rolling prairies and arid grasslands, and was joined by a team of Stetson-clad dancers. For « In Your Eyes » they even conjured a saloon feel — complete with pool table — and the song concluded with Minogue sipping whiskey, toasting to « health, happiness and love ». This being a Kylie gig, there was a healthy helping of glamour too, from the glittering gowns to the giant disco ball and metallic streamers unleashed during a triumphant outing of « Spinning Around ». But amidst the razzle-dazzle, there were endearing reminders of Minogue’s humility. She joked that an « I heart Kylie » scarf thrown on stage was « an antique », and later reminisced about her 14-year-old self, who could only dream of « a stage made of glitter ». Diverse standouts included the Giorgio Moroder-esque electro of « I Believe In You », the brooding R&B of « Slow », incorporating the synth line from Visage’s « Fade To Grey », and an outing of the unabashedly saccharine « Especially For You », performed as a duet with the audience. Overall, tonight’s performance served as a welcome reminder of Minogue’s generosity as a performer, and of the refreshing lack of cynicism with which she has always embraced all eras of her career. Long may she continue. The TIMES by Lisa Verrico Rather than show skin, Kylie put her personality upfront, leaving most of the movements to her dancers. Kylie left most of the moves to her dancers and chatted to fans as though they were old friends. Whoever convinced Kylie to go country deserves a gold star. Here rhinestone-studded reinvention, launched to coincide with her 50th birthday in May, has breathed new life into a career that had been on the slide for some time. Her latest album, « Golden », topped the charts in the spring and has since gone (suitably) gold. Bookies have
her as a favourite to headline Glastonbury next year. By her own sky-high standards, her two-part, two-hour show is an intimate affair. Of course, it was arena-ready – costume changes, rainbow-colored confetti, glitter everywhere from the floor to the lighting rig, a second stage at the end of a walkway, lasers worthy of an EDM DJ. However, compared with Kylie’s previous extravaganzas, it was pared down. The reason had to do with hotpants being hung up. Kylie has decided to age gracefully on stage, unlike her rival Madonna. Hence no butt baring. Rather than show skin, she put her personality upfront, leaving most of the moves to her dancers and chatting to fans as though they were old friends. inews.co.uk by Sarah Carson Kylie Minogue, O2 Arena, review: a glittering, country-pop nostalgia fest. After 30 years in British music, and a line in syrupy ballads and synth-heavy electropop, nobody expected Kylie Minogue to go country. So « Golden », her 14th studio album released in April, was a surprise: Dolly Parton-inspired tales of heartbreak, fiddles, banjos, and rhinestones. It just about worked – imitative, yes, but catchy, and brimming with Minogue’s sugary charm. It was less of a surprise, then, that her « Golden Tour » is, for the most part, a tribute to Nashville. Last night, the tiny Minogue emerged onstage at London’s O2 draped in hot pink chiffon and flanked by cowboy-hatted male dancers, each with « KM » embroidered onto their protruding, gyrating back pockets. Well, of course. Opening with the album’s hopeful, sunny, title track, Minogue was delightful. All night, in this show in two acts, she beamed, twirled, line-danced, and shimmied through a bejewelled parade of costumes: biker leathers, ballgowns, blue jeans. It was all pleasingly, predictably camp. When any artist reinvents themselves, there’s a sense they are craving a renewed sense of authenticity. There is certainly that feeling with Minogue, but it remains difficult to truly see her in a new light. Her country songs are pleasant – if mostly indiscernible: she celebrated the healing power of music in « Radio On », and shared with the game crowd the overwhelming reaction she’d had to the (admittedly quite irresistible) « A Lifetime to Repair », a world-weary singalong about hardships of love, which she sang while draped across a pool table. The problem is, with all this theatrical conjuring of the American south, it’s hard for it not all to feel a little like pastiche. It doesn’t always feel like we are connecting with Minogue herself… Minogue has an admirable back catalogue of party-pop bangers which… Last night, people came to dance, and the most free, spirited elation arrived when the arena transformed into a nightclub – albeit a bit of a naff

Focus • Golden Tour « Spinning Around » was dizzy with lasers, rainbow confetti, and disco balls; « In Your Eyes » was thumping, sexy, and suggestive; « Love at First Sight » was breathless and sing-your-heart-out. « Kids », Minogue’s flirtatious duet with Robbie Williams, was a rousing highlight – Minogue alone channelled enough charisma for the pair of them. But what should have been the pièce de résistance was a misfire. The video to 2001’s inescapable « Can’t Get You Out of My Head » was iconic – Minogue’s slinky white hood, zooming sportscar, much-parodied dance routine. Here its full jaw-grinding, infectious club night potency was lost in an ill-advised country arrangement, which felt like a loss. The « Golden Tour » is an entertaining night with a star this country holds dear, I only wish she’d showcased more of her vocal, musical best. metro.co.uk by Katie Baillie Kylie Minogue’s golden era takes over London’s O2 with a shower of glitz, glamour and nostalgia. It’s her golden year and the golden era for Kylie Minogue’s music. As cheesy as that might sound, it’s actually true – this year marks Kylie’s 50th and she hasn’t let it just pass it simply pass her by. She’s gone big, and is not ready to go home. Kylie released her countrified album « Golden » in April, and followed that with a huge arena tour that saw her take over London’s O2 for three nights. From the outset it was pretty clear her gigs were a massive « thank you » to the room full of fans who have followed her career for 30 years as she opened with « Golden » and quickly moved into « Better The Devil You Know », then razzle dazzled us for the next two hours. The setlist was a gentle blend of old as she acknowledged both her old school Kylie fans who only know the golden oldies, as well as her die-hard ones who’ve been there throughout. The audience became very much part of the gig – she was there for a big old duet, not some solo performance. The visuals were striking; dramatic black and white for « Confide In Me » with Kylie as a lounge singer, dancing on a pool table in a dive bar for « I Believe In You », and a hoe down for « Stop Me From Falling ». The themes changed from cowboys to Hells Angels to Studio 54 as the singer transitioned through her musical career, although with such a swift pace the stories that seemed to be going on amongst the dancers were hard to follow. But who cares, our eyes were firmly on Kylie anyway. She moved through the genres as she paid homage to her 30 year career, from disco to cheese to country to sexy R&B to pure unadulterated pop. Kylie nipped off for incredible costume changes throughout – she was a cowgirl, a 70s icon, and disco glam ready for a night at Studio 54.
The entire show had a strong 60s/70s era vibe, paying tribute to the singer herself, who was born in 1968, and the nostalgia ran throughout – naturally performed her hits like « Slow », « Wow », « Spinning Around », « Can’t Get You Out Of My Head », even « Locomotion ». « Especially For You » was a special moment. While we’d hoped Jason might appear on stage, it quickly became clear that the audience were to take on his part and the whole O2 sang the two parter with Kylie. Quite frankly, she was breath-taking, and I say that as someone who’s not as die-hard a fan as those around me who knew every single word and came clad in their Kylie t-shirts and face glitter. « I’ve had the best year! » she told the crowd at one point and it shone through on her face, her smile never once faltering. I heard someone say « she did amazingly for 50 », but that has nothing to do with it. Partly because Kylie is absolutely ageless. Partly because this woman is the epitome of what hard work and giving the fans what they want can get you. dailystar.co.uk by Jack Hardwick KYLIE Minogue brought her « Golden Tour » to London last night, proving she’s still at the top of her game. Playing to a packed O2 Arena, the superstar wowed fans with a stellar set-list of her biggest hits and a healthy smattering of new album tracks. While the « Golden Tour » is nowhere near as lavish as her 2011 « Aphrodite: Les Folies Tour », if anything, it shows Kylie doesn’t need to rely on larger-than-life sets and jaw-dropping water spectacles to put on a killer show. That’s not to say « Golden » isn’t packed with props and more campness than Christmas. Within the first few minutes Kylie Minogue ascends to her golden glitter stage in a bright pink dress and is flanked by gyrating, buff cowboys. Meanwhile, at the interval a giant silver glitter ball lights up the stadium in a move that wouldn’t be out of place at The Eurovision Song Contest. Vocally, Kylie is still faultless and at her strongest on a dramatic rendition of « Confide In Me ». With just a single spotlight on her, the pint-sized pop princess rocked an allwhite jumpsuit as she gave a powerful and haunting rendition of the stripped back 1994 hit. Similarly, with just a couple of backing guitars and a bar stool for company, « Golden » album track « Radio On » lets Kylie demonstrate her Aussie-twanged vocals gimmick free. Apparently about the collapse of her engagement to Joshua Sasse, by her own admission the song is about Kylie’s lowest moments and how « music literally saved her life ». Speaking about her number one album « Golden », Kylie said: « It’s like a little dream come true. The album only just came out earlier this year and you embraced it so much and I can only thank you enormously for that and

making it your own – it means the world, honestly ». Meanwhile, before singing « Lifetime to Repair », Kylie admitted the not so discreet lyrics raised more than a few eyebrows behind the scenes - with many people coming up to her and telling her « they get it ». During the break-up track, Kylie sings: « Too many nights I wish I never cared/ Been torn and twisted, oh I swear ». She later adds: « Too many nights, crying but it’s not fair/ If I get hurt again... I’ll need a lifetime to repair »… Kicking off the second half of the show with beat-heavy « Slow », the 50-year-old starlet dons skintight black leather as she struts down the stage towards a group of motorbike-riding men. Joined by a couple of female backing dancers, Kylie then launched into 2000 Robbie Williams duet « Kids ». Ending the show with a nostalgic trip down memory lane, Kylie belted out back-to back disco classics in the form of « On A Night Like This », « The Loco-Motion », « Spinning Around » and « Love at First Sight ».
#9 - GLASGOW
thescottishsun.co.uk by Rachel Macpherson Kylie Minogue toasts Glasgow’s SSE Hydro with a dram as she reigns as queen of pop with stellar FIVE-act performance. The pop legend entered on stage in a shimmering pink dress and continued to dazzle crowds throughout the night. POP princess Kylie Minogue enjoyed a « wee dram » as she got the party going at the SSE Hydro tonight in Glasgow. The singer shone like a diamond during her stellar performance which left fans dancing in the aisles and singing their hearts out. It’s been a spectacular year for Kylie – who celebrated both her 50th birthday and the 30th anniversary of her debut album. And it seems like she’s ready to shine through the rest of the year – as she kicked off her first Hydro gig in four years with « Golden » in a pink shimmery dress. Kylie said: « Who’s feeling golden tonight ? So excited to be here. I know tonight is gonna be one of these nights
here in Glasgow ». The singer hit the road with her new album « Golden » earlier this year – and she wasn’t shy about bringing her country-fuelled tracks to the Glasgow party. « Confide In Me », « A Lifetime To Repair » and « Shelby’68 » went down a storm with fans – who screamed along with the singer. But old favourites like « Better The Devil You Know », « Wow » and « Can’t Get You Out My Head » had the crowd jumping and grooving along with the singer. Kylie was all smiles with flawless dance routines, five costume changes and a troop of dancers. And singer was full of banter as she toasted the audience with a dram, and gifted one lucky punter a rose. Kylie pulled no punches, going from ballad « Radio On » to punchy pop with Kids to oozing sex appeal in « Slow » – the crowd in the palm of her hand the entire time. She rounded off a better of a gig with « Spinning Around » before returning to encore with « Love At First Sight » and « Dancing » – and Scots left on a high. Once again Kylie reigned as the Queen of pop.
#10 - MANCHESTER
manchestereveningnews.co.uk by Daisy Jackson Kylie was back at the arena for the 32nd time, this time with her « Golden Tour ». A sparse desert. The twang of a guitar and the sound of howling wind. A dozen menacing cowboys stroll out onto the landscape. Then Kylie Minogue, sat atop a pile of battered luggage in floral cowboy boots, rises up on to the stage. This is actually a much more low-key entrance than we’d been anticipating – which is saying something - but it doesn’t stay low-key for long. As she springs into « Golden », the title track off her latest album, her cowboys are hoedowning and heel-tapping... This princess of pop doesn’t hold back from here on. Over the course of two and a half hours, we’re treated to a back catalogue that spans three decades and goes from the pop-rich days of the early ‘80s right through to the country-tinged 2018.
Focus • Golden Tour While wardrobe shouldn’t necessarily be a defining factor in a woman’s performance, Kylie’s is superb – she flits from floaty pink chiffon to tough leather to a shimmering golden cocktail dress as she flies through her seven (yes, seven) acts. She’s small in stature but massive in presence. The stage is compact and she keeps her band close to her, lending a surprisingly intimate feel to such a mammoth venue. A lot of that latest album sneaks in early, and her sugary sweet Australian lilt lends itself well to country music. « Stop Me From Falling », with full line-dancing choreography, is a highlight. Then she goes spinning back through the decades quicker than Cher’s face - earlier songs like « The Loco-motion » and « Better The Devil You Know » make their presence felt through frenetic keyboard playing and Kylie is as bouncy and joyful as she was in her 20s. « Confide in Me », a song that surely should have been a contender for a James Bond soundtrack at some point, is so firmly planted in the 90s that we half-expect the young cast of Cold Feet to appear on stage, but it’s the early 2000s that are the crowning glory. « Can’t Get You Out of My Head », « On a Night Like This », and « I Believe In You » are all given the big band treatment. « Kids » becomes an all-girl affair in the absence of Robbie Williams and it’s fiesty and glorious fun, but she holds her own for hers and Jason Donovan’s love song classic « Especially For You ». She closes out act number six with a huge Studio 54-inspired performance of « Spinning Around », firing gold ribbons across the audience. Neatly bookmarking the show with another « Golden » track, she skips away to « Dancing » and seems genuinely overwhelmed by the rapturous applause she’s showered with. We’ve travelled back and forth through the decades and while the result is a bit of a patchwork, with a confusing narrative from her dancers (are they… drunk? Lost? Why are there cowboy hats and bucket hats and Polaroid cameras on the same stage at the same time?), the mood is jubilant, and Kylie is the one consistent – timeless, ageless perfection throughout.
#11 - LIVERPOOL
liverpoolecho.co.uk by Jamie McLoughlin Nights like this prove it’s impossible to dislike Miss Minogue. MADGE Bishop’s youngest has nothing to prove these days. Her 31st year in the music industry (and 50th on the planet) means there’s no point in laughing at Kylie anymore… there really is nothing to hate and everything to love
about the Melbourne-born singer. Which made the « Golden » Tour’s stop in Liverpool’s ECHO Arena an evening of nostalgia from different decades. When you’re in the enviable position of your entire list of single releases being too long for the length of an arena show, few hardcore fans are going to be disappointed by what’s included, regardless of the stop where they embarked on the Kylie bus. It’s always good to remind the crowd why they’re there from the off. Rising into the heart of the Echo Arena in a hydraulic platform in a vision of fluttering pink chiffon on a pile of suitcases which wouldn’t look out of place on Hope Street, Kylie belted out « Golden », title track to her latest album. It proves just how impressive her vocals are that such a tiny figure can fill a hall with a booming vocal. The country-tinged track encourages her backing dancers, cowboys all, to flock down the catwalk for an obligatory hoedown and the Western theme for the opening section of the evening was established. Unlike previous Kylie tours, there’s a strong thread running throughout the show to link the action. The backing band are huddled at the back in matching suits straight out of the Grand Ole Opry in a performance space which is at turns a stage and something resembling a remote bar on an Arizona roadside. It’s here where the backing dancers come to play, dressed in the sky of gear which suggests a raggle-taggle band of outsiders who come together to support Kylie on her adventures. It’s a clever touch of performance art which suddenly makes the Minogue songbook sound rather grown-up. Every stop on this tour features a bespoke denim jacket bearing the name of the city on the back. One of the biggest cheers of the night came when Kylie showed off her Liverpool version. She also mentioned the four-year gap since her last visit as being far too long. There were plenty of voices in the crowd which agreed with her. Best song: « Kids » has always been one of Kylie’s most infectious anthems, arriving at a time when her career was peaking again in the early noughties. Here, it’s performed by her band and backing singers decked out at as a biker gang in pitstop-style black leather catsuits. It shows how good a composition is when you’re enjoying it too much to realise the other, equally famous, half of the duet, isn’t there. Who needs Robbie? If you’re not a fan of Kylie’s dip into the country sound of late, this may not have been the poptastic night you expected but if you’re happy seeing a true star unafraid to present material old and new in bold and experimental ways, there’s a seat on that Kylie bus just waiting for you.

Kylie world on the road:
The GOLD(En) tour Newcastle/Bournemouth/London
When we asked about what articles you’d like to read in this issue, “Drunk En’s tour diaries” was a common answer. Even though I have no clue why, here I am with an opened bottle of wine (to keep the authenticity, of course - you’re welcome). No, now seriously, let’s hit the road together! It feels so weird to even think about what happened in Newcastle as that seems about million years away at this point. It’s literally monday night, yes, the two-days-before-the-Kylie.Times-release-date monday night, which makes it four weeks since the opening concert and two weeks since the last UK show, and my life has twisted around about three times since. You might think that we get to see Kylie often - at least recently - and a little bit of everything can make you sick, you know, not literally, obviously, but does the sparkle ever dissapear? Well, let me be brutally honest, it does sometimes. I can imagine there is many who will judge me for these words, but I will say them anyway, because after all, this is my tour diaries… I was so deep into my boring life, trying to adult and make something out of it, that I completely forgot about the crazy and spontaneous part of existing that Kylie had always represented for me. By the Hyde Park show, I was thinking “How the heck are we going to be back on the tour?” All the money spent, barely getting through, the traveling, coaches and flights, endless queuing, sleepless and homeless nights, running to work late, terrible diet, zero social life… Just how? I was stuck in the most terrible phase of my life and deep down I was hoping the tour would get me out, I just had no idea how I’d survive. I booked my coach from London to Newcastle a week prior to the show, and let me tell you the real shock came when I realised it would take nearly eight hours. Stupid of me to think it would be about three, but you all already know that it’s just how chaotic and blonde I tend to be. Also, what is the thing about two Newcastles in England? I mean, REALLY?? I had to leave work early, sprint to the station and pray to the higher powers that I would make it - and I did. At this point, I would usually be dying of excitement, fully on the Kylie wave… But not this time. I couldn’t get into the mood even though I really wanted to. My miserable feelings only disappeared when I made it into the town and discovered that my fave Kylie stan ever Ilse happened to be staying at a hotel one minute away from mine and Laeti’s. Laeti was still on her way. And Ilse’s hotel had a bar… Twelve shots later (split between the two of us - we ARE alcoholics, but not that crazy), it finally felt like home.
Seven in the morning, I got a text from Ilse… “I’m already by the venue.” I jumped out of bed instantly, spent about a minute wondering whether I should bother changing from my pyjama, but then I came to the conclusion that putting on a bra would be enough, grabbed an umbrella and ran out of the room. I left Laeti yelling “FUCK YOU ALL, IM SLEEPING, KEEP ME A SPOT” behind. “YOU ALL ARE INSANE” I screamed as I was approaching the queue of six people, looking fresh as ever at about half past seven. And I mean it about my looks - one of my friends spent quite a bit of time thinking I was someone else and then finally recognised me by my VOICE. Lol. When Laeti finished her beauty sleep and joined us, I went back in to actually dress up, get food, and all that stuff, and if you want me to be honest, I don’t remember much until the point where me and Ilse were drinking wine for lunch. The day was going pretty fast and before we knew it, we were all lined up, ready to be escorted to our entrance. Some BBC interviews happened that day but we don’t talk about them because they were a hundred percent against our free will, the reporter wouldn’t shut up - and since I live and work in this country, I try my best to avoid cameras at all costs. The crazy chaos began when we realised no one knew where we were meant to stand, and the ultimate joke - they weren’t even aware of Golden Circle’s existence. Basically, we spent a good hour constantly being told that whoever has got VIP tickets has to move to another entrance, but when we asked if GC was considered a VIP, no one was able to reply, they’d just repeat that IF we have VIPs, we need to move. Fun… The speculations about stage were also fully on at this point, every person running around would present us a different version and everything was a nerve wracking chaos. And we didn’t even know what was about to go down… After Amanda, a super-nice lady from VIP nation, cleared the VIP situation, they opened the gates, but out of many, it was the latest ones that let people in first. A disaster. All of us who had queued since the morning were behind people who got there five minutes ago, no one seemed to be concerned by it and a literal war was about to go down. Yet we still had no idea what was about to happen… Then they finally opened the actual arena’s door. A crazy-ass crowd of people tried to push in all at the same time, no respect, no organisation, no clue what was going on. “GOLDEN CIRCLE IS RIGHT SIDE” I hear a security guard behind me saying. Alright, right we run… “This is not the entrance, you have to go through the other side” we get told the second we get there. FUCK YOU, I thought. Imagine a hundred people trying to jump over each others heads. Left left left left left…. I SPRINT along with the others. “You have to go to the other side” we hear when we get there. ??????!!!!!!!!!!! ksjdhfkajhdgf. FUCK YOU. At this point, I don’t even know. Did I run, was I just pushed around? No clue. All I remember is that I was number seven in the queue and somehow I ended up having “only” about fifteen people in front of me, at the spot where we were originally told off. Now, let’s talk about something that really bothers me… When random fans who aren’t too deep into the bubble try to jump the queue, I kind of understand. I mean, I really don’t but right, it’s their only show, they aren’t gonna travel, they just want to have a good spot and enjoy their show… BUT when stans that actually go and see billion other concerts like we do try to get through? Seriously? Somehow, through all the chaos, we made it in. I saw Seany standing by the entrance and watching us panic, looking rather amused, and right after noticing him, my eyes laid down on THE REST. The stage… W O W. Heading straight to the end of the B stage, I tried to collect my friends around before someone would take their spots, but it turned out to be pointless. All the panic turned out to be pointless. The stage was MASSIVE, we were ALL front row (even the queue jumpers, was it worth it sweethearts?).
And then.. oh well, you all know, you all watched the live stream. We “sang” our hearts out, danced, and had the greatest time, I personally cried about 6 times starting when the lights went down. The next day, we only prayed that Laeti’s flight wasn’t gonna get cancelled because it was so windy. As I said, if I hadn’t been left bald the day before, my wig would have flown - lol. Functioning in a low form of Hangover, I somehow made it through a few days until I added my first extra-Kylie show. It’s a thing. Every time we see the opening night, we get so blown away and just start buying tickets we were not going to get at first place, paying with the money we don’t even have anymore. I got myself London… Of curse, I live here now so I secretly wanted to do all of the three, but at the same time I couldn’t take days off at work, because I had to go through an induction and training that fell exactly on these days. My plan was to get seats and just chill… Well guess what, I ended up with three golden circles (let me prepare my surprised face). I got all of them on Stubhub but since I never can not have problems, my account got blocked and I couldn’t download the tickets I had already paid for. It actually took an hour and a half in the middle of the night on a live-support chat with the assistant and no one could figure out what the heck happened. They called up their technical team and not even they could unlock it, so the poor lady had to download the tickets and email them to me herself. Let me prepare my surprised face again. It would be fun and jokes if I wasn’t waking up super early the next morning to get onto the coach for our next show - Bournemouth. Laeti took an overnight bus from Paris again and I was to meet her at 7:30am at Victoria.

running through my veins again and I was so happy. It’s funny, isn’t it… We always get asked why we “still fangirl” about Kylie at our age, why we spend @del1997 and @i_am_gregg all this money to see the same show so many times… but it’s so much more than that. I am had had literally the shittiest year ever and NOTHING could bring me back to being me. Then Kylie walked on stage… The night after was rather adventurous as well. We, of course, ended up in a bar with Ilse and Anita. Wait, did I mention the wine that happened in the queue in the afternoon????………. Then me and Laeti took a coach back in the middle of the night. Made it to London by 7am, fell asleep by 8, and I have absolutely no clue when Laeti left my flat to get onto a flight back to Paris, nor what the heck was my life from then until the London shows. The O2 was to be the most exhausting time ever. There was no way I would survive working, knowing that everyone else is in the queue already, and so I decided to be very extra and START the queue at ridiculous o’clock in the morning, then leave for work (as I work basically ten minutes away) and then just come back. I knew how mad tiring that was going to be and so my only wish was to go to sleep really early on tuesday. Boy, I was so wrong about that… Ilse, who had unexpectedly went to Cardiff and never boarded her flight back home, ended up in London a day earlier. And somehow she happened to be right next to my work when I was finishing, ready to go to sleep straight after. “What are you up to?” “I’m at Canary Wharf at Waitrosse rn.” “WHAT?!!! OK, see you there in two minutes.” And so I just naturally picked her up by the alcohol section… As the classy women we are, we chugged three bottles of wine from starbucks cups in the park. Our other friend, Charlotte, joined us later on with Gin and you want to know howlieortowhat time the I gottime, home, havebetosoask someone I honestly don’tif know why she doesn’t me about my you’d life would much easier if she always else… What I do know is that my alarm went on at 5 in the morning. The Kangover tookwas something lowered it by half an hour. Yes, I was running late. Not completely by my fault though, there andline I energetically Charlotte queue… Somehow, I made it to sleep as wrong over with hangover the District and I made itdragged just on time. We everyone else is in the queue already, and so I decided to be very extra and START the queue at ridiculous o’clock actually headed straight to the All Bar One - the good old All Bar One. That’s where in the morning, then leave for work (as I work basically ten minutes away) and then just come back. I knew how all the gigs in the O2 end anyway. They successfully managed to mess up our order mad tiring that was going to be and so my only wish was to go to sleep really early on tuesday. Boy, I was so
wrong about that… Ilse, who had unexpectedly went to Cardiff and never boarded her flight back home, ended up in London a day earlier. Our other friend, Charlotte, joined us later on with Gin and if you want to know how or what time I got home, you’d have to ask someone else… What I do know is that my alarm went on at 5 in the morning. The Kangover took over hangover and I energetically dragged Charlotte to the queue… Somehow, I made it through work and got back, covered the whole queue in glitter and was ready to see Kylie again. Of course, something organisation-wise must have happened. They gave the same colour of wristbands to the early entry people not realising they weren’t meant to be in Golden, and so we were going to be f u c k e d. And we were not very happy about it… Imagine paying the same amount of money, not getting a goodie bag, queuing and being let in after these people. Madness. As always, it took an hour to manage it and we were promised they would NOT take our spots. A few of them did, of course, because they didn’t manage to notify all their staff. O2 used to be the best place for concerts but this time it was a massive let down - not to mention how rude they all were. Me, Charlotte and Shannon got a spot by the side of the catwalk because we love The One and mainly wanted to see that song from as close as possible, and wow, it was SO WORTH IT. And then the day just repeated itself. Waking up early, going to the O2, going to work, back to O2, glitter on, organization madness, the show… The second day had its own special part, well, actually two. However surprising it might be for you, I had never done a Kylie concert drunk, not even tipsy… I did drown quite a lot of Absinth in Ibiza once but I felt none of it because it was my first photographic Kylie experience as well and I think the nerves killed the alcohol. And I had never done a show standing next to Ilse (at least we thought so)… of course, the two idiots that we are decided to go for both at the same time. “we’ll get wine” “small, medium or bottle?” “BOT TLE.” Let me tell you, I don’t know where we always get these awesome ideas. We had some EXTRA fun that night. And since the Kylie high was real, we didn’t feel like sleeping after the show. We actually headed straight to the All Bar One - the good old All Bar One. That’s where all the gigs in the O2 end anyway. They successfully managed to mess up our order and instead of beer and white, we ended up with beer, white and extra red for free. I like both beer and red, I thought, at this point I might just chug both… Little did I know Kylie’s dancers were having their after-party there as well and before I managed to realise what was going on, Ilse was talking to Katie and asking her for a pic with her friend (me). “Where is your friend?” I heard Katie asking… Ilse pointed my way, and there I was, with a pint in one hand and a glass in other, drinking both at the same time…. Typical. Third night was yet again very special in its own way, and that was Laeti. I persuaded her to come last minute even though she isn’t a big fan of the London shows. We also got Chezzy (the time bomb guy) on board and we were in for another awesome experience. It was honestly the best queue and best group of people ever. I was dying at work that day because my induction was at its peak, and I couldn’t FUNCTION. I was too deep in the Kylie bubble and running on 2-3 hours a sleep a day, hangover and kangover, but I somehow made it, and I have to shout out a big thank you to everyone who easily let me get back to my spot in the queue even when I was gone for hours.

After the show, you’d expect us all to drop dead, but we certainly weren’t planning on doing that. We went straight to the after party!!! Let’s just say a lot of shots happened, me and Chezzy did Jason and Kylie spin in the middle of the club, Chezzy dropped me down and the bruise on my knee is still there (would do it again though) and I got home at about 8am in the morning. Laeti was already on the bus home back then, she actually had to get the keys to my flat off the drunk me, go pick up her stuff and then leave the keys hidden in front of the entrance…………… A good night. I have been in a constant Kylie bubble ever since, not being able to fully adapt back to the normal life. Maybe because my “normal life” that I was trying to live before was an absolute nonsense and for once again, Kylie saved me from becoming a boring adult. Some of you who are very observant might wonder if I am going to speak any more about a certain insta story, and I’m sorry to disappoint you, but no, I’m not. The only thing I am able to say is a massive THANK YOU that goes along with an unbearable amount of love. Thank you to everyone who made these days so special, and thank you to Laeti for being the best friend, always.
COME AT US EUROPE, WE ARE R E A D Y!
Kylie world on the road:
Dublin with Laeti and Mel
I planned to do the concert in Dublin because I have never been there and I thought it was an opportunity, especially since it was on a Sunday, which suited my work schedule. Melanie wanted to see one show out of France and she decided to do the same concert as me. Problems started when we were booking the tickets: my credit card had got hacked a few days before (yes thank you Ticketmaster). So I had to wait to receive a new one to book the tickets and the plane in July. Of course, when I clicked through everything and came to the point of paying, my brand new card got blocked by Ticketmaster again. I thank my boyfriend for saving my life and buying me the tickets... Let‘s not even talk about the fact that the flights got over 100% more expensive within this time... Long story short: a big mess from the beginning. Both me and Melanie were pretty excited, and I was really happy to do the concert with her because had not seen the Golden tour before and it was her first time abroad. I felt like a teacher, annoying her all the time with the plans on where we should stand, about the day‘s organization and lots of details for Kylie World and the Kylie Times. We met up at the airport on Sunday morning to go together. Detail you do not know, Melanie is extremely scared of flying, so the fact that she was about to board a plane was a bit of a miracle and extra extra effort for her. She was meant to go to New York once, she never got on the plane because she was so scared. See ! Sunday morning at the airport, everything went smooth except for our flight being delayed - it ended up being just 30 minutes thought, could have been way worse. Melanie managed to stay sane and beat her fear rather well and she didn‘t even break my hand, I was delighted. When we landed, we decided to take a taxi and hoped to find a driver who‘d give us tips on where to go to visit the city and the cool spots to see. Anyway, what mattered to us was more the concert than to go sightseeing, but in the end, the information ended up being very useful. We arrived by the arena around 1pm, we took our numbers and went to say hello to Jodie and Kirstie who were doing the concert with us. A few people were in the queue but it was very cold and there was a lot of wind so we completely understood that it wasn‘t too overcrowded. We went to get some lunch at a restaurant next to the arena and we thought we would stay there until 2pm before going to join the coooooold queue. A few minutes before leaving, I was on my phone... and I got THAT twitter notification. I‘m not going to lie to you, here‘s what happened in my head :
1 - She never tweets before a concert = there is a problem 2 - The green heart: it‘s the color of Ireland, so she‘ll talk about the concerts we‘re doing 3 - „Sorry“: this is the only word I saw when I tried to read tweet. So it was clear, Kylie was canceling her concerts, not only the one in Dublin, but Belfast the next day also because of a throat infection. Well, so it was 2pm, we had just arrived in Dublin, we had not booked a hotel thinking we‘d just crash at the airport after the concert and we had nothing to do for the whole day. I‘ll let you imagine Melanie‘s face when she saw that, her who finally fought her fears and took a plane. We also realised that people from Peru, New York, Mexico... and all around the world... had been on their way for the concert as well, and suddenly we felt a little less alone in this. I was panicking but also trying to be rational and decided we would have to book a place to stay, because what else would we do until our flight at 6am the next day?... I checked if we could change our flight, of course we had taken a low cost one so the answer was quickly known and we could not afford to book another one on the same day. The hotel was in the end the most economical way to spend the day in Dublin now that we were there. So yes, we would have preferred Kylie to announce it at least earlier in the morning and not 6 hours before the beginning of the concert and 4 hours before opening the doors. It would have helped a lot when it comes to managing our whole trip, we would not have flown and we would have lost only the price of the flight, no additional expenses. But it‘s life, she tried as much as she could have to make this concert happened and if she had the voice broken and couldn‘t sing, we would have heard it and we would have been disappointed anyway, so you know, we understood. We found a hotel near the airport, I called almost all my contacts to tell them my sadness and Melanie was in a proper depression in front of me. We took some photos with Kirstie and Jodie in front of the arena just to keep a great memory of this beautiful day (lol) before going back to the taxi driver‘s advices and visiting the city. The walk through the city was super fast, Dublin is very small. At 4pm, we had no more to do so we decided to go for another walk. As we already spent a lot of money, let‘s just WALK, we thought. And there, coming out of a random shop, I bumped into Jenny, dancer. I saw three other dancers with her, I did not hesitate and I went to talk to them directly, shouting „MEL COME ON“. We talked a little bit about the concert, I explained to them that we probably wouldn‘t go to the rescheduled dates (sad) but that we would be in Paris. Jenny asked a random person in the shop to take a group photo with us and all the dancers (yes I did not realize they were all there actually), before telling us that they were going to drink beer and that we should do the same as well (I think we must have looked really depressed then). This moment was the real ray of sun of the day, at least we had some „Kylie connection“. We then went back in front of the arena where the stage was being dismantled (and where confetti were flying on the floor) before taking the bus to go to the hotel. In the end, we fell asleep early, and Melanie who had not seen the concert decided to watch the videos available on Youtube. Sad evening. We then left the next morning at 5am, we missed the shuttle which was only 3 euros cause it was late, we took a taxi, and I think Karma was at least being nice to us by not putting any children behind us on the plane, because there was at least 10 of them in total, screaming the whole time, but NOT NEAR US. AMEN. I slept like a baby, Melanie was not too scared either and we went to work when we arrived. Of course, the first question at work was: How was the show? ..................

LOVERS’ STORIES

My wife and I flew from Denver, CO USA all the way to London for our first Kylie concert. We attended the show at the O2 on 27/09/18 and managed to find ourselves upgraded from our seats in the back to SRO in the Golden Circle. The experience was absolutely surreal. We had the time of our lives - it was so amazing! We snapped a few photos (attached)...there are a few hundred more where those came from, ha ha.
On the 22nd September I went to Kylie’s « Golden Tour » in Bournemouth and it was my first ever Kylie concert. It was amazing; kylie’s voice was outstanding and she looked so gorgeous ! Me and my dance partner had standing tickets to get as close as we could and we got into the 3rd row ! The concert was so good that for a few days after I was so sad because I wanted to be back there. If you’re reading this Kylie, then please release « New York City » as a single!!! And stay GOLDEN !
Me and Sarah Sansam have been fans of Kylie for over 30 years. We didn’t know each other as I live in Newcastle and Sarah lives in Hull. We both won a competition in July 2018 to meet kylie in London to learn the dancing choreography with herself and Ashley Wallen. We both met on that day and had a great day with Kylie. Since then we have become friends and went to the opening night of Kylie’s Golden Tour together at Newcastle. We are now great friends so thanks to kylie we formed a friendship.
KENNETH Mine’s short : Ticketmaster messed up my tickets but thanks to Ilse who I have only known online for quite some time now I still managed to be front row for my 27th Kylie show ! #TheFansWithAHeart
AREK It was quite special day seeing Kylie in Leeds on my birthday 4th of october with my niece which she is expecting her first baby. It was special night for 2 of us.

My name is Jo I’m a lover. I knew all of the people online but on the 28th of September I got to meet them all for the first time in five years (apart from Anika). I was also lucky enough to be able to see the best disco in town on that day for my 19th birthday too.

MAGNUS I didn’t expect Kylie to come to Norway for this tour and was scared she wouldn’t come to Scandinavia at all (though she is going to Denmark). So when the UK/Ireland tour was announced I decided I didn’t wanna risk anything, and decided to get a Golden Circle ticket for The O2 in London. It’s easy and not too expensive to get to London from Oslo, also I had never been to London before, so I figured it would be the easiest of all the UK dates. I was so excited and nervous going all alone to a new country and city, but it all went really well. The general trip was easy and safe, and as I can speak English at least there would be no language issues. I travelled to London on the day of the concert, and got to the venue at about 14:30. I met up with someone I’ve talked to on Instagram in line for the concert, which was super nice. We talked about Kylie and all the other pop stars we love all day. It felt great to get to experience the concert with someone who was just as excited about Kylie as I was. When we finally got into the venue, we were row 2 from the barrier, right in the middle of the main stage. I’m pretty tall so being first or second didn’t matter much anyways. I couldn’t believe my first Kylie concert was about to happen, and I would be SO close to her. I have of course known about her for a long time, but my Kylie-journey began with Timebomb in 2012, so after about 6,5 years, it was finally happening. When she came up from the stage and started singing « Golden », I felt so happy and excited. It’s one of my favourite Kylie songs, so I was happy it was the first on the setlist. It felt unbelievable. « Get Outta My Way » was next, and I couldn’t contain my excitement as it’s my #1 Kylie song. I got to hear a lot of my favourites that night and it felt incredible. Her energy was so great. She was singing so well, dancing and smiling the whole night. When I tell people about it I say she was super personal, yet super professional. You really felt her energy in the crowd, she interacted with her fans and let her personality shine through. She was just the sweetest ever. The stage being so minimal put the focus just on her, and that’s all that matters when you can captivate a crowd like her. The crowd was really nice in itself that night too, no pushing or yelling, everyone respecting each other. I’m 21 so I was probably on the younger side of the crowd, which of course was just a positive experience! The tour versions of songs like « Wow », « All the Lovers » and « Confide In Me » were so good. I can’t wait for the DVD release. It really is one of the greatest concerts I’ve been to, and one of the greatest days of my life. I was so happy and emotional for many days after the concert, and unless I have other plans I will try to see her again in Denmark. It was worth all the money and time spent travelling, and I would definitely do it again!
mark So our story is myself and husband also called Mark both bought 4 tickets for Kylie... We had friends who wanted to go also. Sadly a friend couldn’t make it so I popped the ticket on a kylie group to which someone answered. This gentleman had seen her in Glasgow after flying home from his new home in Vietnam. He drove down from Glasgow and drove back the same night. I think it’s amazing how kylie and the group’s bring all the lovers together… And what a night it was !
AUDREY AND SYDNEY Since she saw the music video for « Dancing », my daughter Sydney has been a crazy fan of Kylie, and since I am one myself, and have been since the release of « Fever », it is great sharing the passion with my daughter. She’s singing Kylie’s songs all the time, talking about Kylie at school, to the family and friends ... she’s even doing a « Kylie performances » at home! So I decided I’d bring her to see Kylie in Glasgow on September 30th. She was so excited: « Am I going to see Kylie for real, is she going to lend me her costumes, can I sing on stage with her ? ». She loved every second of the show, danced like crazy and simply enjoyed herself. I’m now allowed to make her hot chocolate ONLY in her beautiful Kylie cup every morning. I never thought that I would share these great moments with my four year old. Thank you KYLIE !!!

KYLIE MINOGUE AND SIGALA
K A
mong the good news this month, there is (finally!) the release of the Sigala track « What You Waiting For ». As soon as it was released, the track ranked very well on iTunes, reaching the top 20 in the single charts. The singer is back to her basics with a very electro song that matches Kylie’s DNA. Sigala greatly teased the collaboration claiming to have been influenced by the 90s, so working with Kylie was pretty natural. We have no idea if this track will be used as a single from the DJ, but it is highly possible as Sigala admitted that it was his favorite one from the album : « I had a version of the song for ages that was a really obvious Sigala-sounding thing. It was too obvious – a real balls-out pop song - so I completely changed it up and reproduced the whole thing. I went back to the chilled summer songs I was listening to a few years ago - Duke Dumont’s I Got U, Alex Adir’s You Make Me Feel Better – so the song has a real nostalgic feel for me. It has a special place in my heart ».
He was also asked for the singer’s reaction: « She loves it. I didn’t work with her in the studio, but I met her on Sounds Like Friday Night in her dressing room. She hadn’t heard the new version, so I played it to her over my phone. She was dancing around the green room and I was like, ‘what is happening in my life right now?!’ ».
To promote the track, Kylie shot a short video with her dancers and backing vocalists behind the scenes of the London O2 arena where she sings the a capella song, and it sounds pretty amazing !
A CASSETTE COLLECTOR
ylie talked about it in several interviews, it was finally her online store and not in the merchandise of the tour where we found the collector cassette of « Golden ». Collector’s edition cassette with gold foil inner ribbon, wrapped in a card slipcase and sealed using a luxury gold mirror board finish with matt UV and uncoated inner; all completed with a gold foil sticker seal. Regarding the tracklisting, nothing changed from the normal cassette which contains twelve tracks (and which is also the most sold cassette in 2018!). However, there is a surprise - an AAA pass which is included in the small kit: using Shazam, you will have access to exclusive content that has not been seen or heard yet... Congratulations to the lucky 1500 people who managed to get their copy, the cassette (sold at 11.99 euros) as it was gone in less than an hour.
T
his year, there’s no Christmas concert planned for the moment, but Kylie will perform on stage as part of a Christmas concert for Magic FM and their event: «Magic Of Christmas». In association with Nativity Rocks, the singer will perform alongside Rick Astley and Boyzone on Sunday, Nov. 25, starting at 3 pm at the London Palladium. Ronan Keating and Harriet Scott will host the concert again this year. When asked about it, Kylie said : « I can’t wait. What are we wearing?! I’m very excited to be joining everyone for this special show. So excited to see everybody, we want Christmas sweaters, we want Christmas hats, we want dress up! » The event is now sold out and more names have been added to the show : Gabrielle, The Shires, Alfie Boe and Katherine Jenkins.

R GREATEST HITS ?
V
ery little information is available at the moment, but Kylie said in an interview that a new « Greatest Hits » is under discussions at the moment. The singer considers this idea as very interesting, but no information has leaked yet so we don’t really know if it could happen... Let’s wait and see !
emember, last month we told you that Kylie would love to perform Glastonbury, as she herself said in an interview. And this month we are coming back with some extra news: Kylie could be booked for real! « The Sun » started spreading rumours that Kylie is to perform in the slot « Legends » at the festival, on the Pyramid Stage. When asked in July for the Glastonbury « Legends Slot », organizer Emily Eavis said : « I can’t tell you, but I’ll give you a clue: it’s a female. She is not British, but I can’t give you any more clues because it will get me into trouble ».
Tickets for this event have already been on sale, and every year it is almost impossible to get them ... Let’s see if Kylie will sing there in 2019! 83 www.kylie-world.com

STEPHANE SEDNAOUi
I
f you are a fan of Kylie’s old-school photos, or actually any old school photos, do not wait any longer and go check Stéphane Sednaoui’s Instagram account! The photographer (and former boyfriend of the singer) has been posting a photo report made in 1995 during a roadtrip in the United States. It is composed of (so far) 24 photos which show the singer in intimate moments of her life, when she was putting together the album Impossible Princess and looking for inspiration. It is very rare to have access to this kind of content, so do not hesitate and head over to Stéphane Sednaoui’s social media to admire his work and see Kylie from a different angle!
ew single of « Golden » that is also the last one according to several sites, « Music’s Too Sad Without You », the duet between Kylie and Jack Savoretti. We know the classic version that the two singers performed during their respective concerts, but a new mix has been chosen for the radios. If I tell you that we are nearing the end of the year, you certainly see what I want to talk about... The Christmas mix! No real difference on the track apart from a bit of bells added in, which could help it become a new winter anthem ! This new version is already played on BBC Radio 2, available on iTunes and several promotional appearances are planned, to be specific we know about X Factor, The Jonathan Ross Show and Michael McIntyre’s Big Show in November. The two artists also revealed the music video for the track on October 15th. It was shot at the theater La Fenice in Venice, when Kylie came to sing with Jack Savoretti last July. Kylie looks stunning in it, wearing a white dress and a black and white suit and walks around the theatre, while Jack is in a room playing the guitar. Unfortunately there is no scene of the two artists together.

# ALL THE HATERS (Act 15456464)
Alright listen, if you have said, or even just thought something bad about Kylie after she cancelled the shows in Ireland, you go get into the trash can and make sure you close the lid as well. In this house we don’t accept bullies.
Some words of love...
First of all, nearly every artist on tour ever had to cancel shows for some reason, and there can be plenty… Being ill is the absolute most basic one ever, and I personally do not understand how so many people on social media could have even dared to open their mouths and let the words they used out. Remember « Kiss Me Once Tour » ? I never got back my 100 euros for the Berlin’s show ticket that was cancelled because someone somewhere messed it up - we will never know details, it was some agency’s bankruptcy or whatever, and that’s how it is, it’s showBUSINESS after all. Was I mad ? Yes. Was I mad at Kylie ? No - because I am not a dumb idiot who has to find a victim to throw their blame at, knowing that it in fact has nothing to do with her personally, not even any close. It wasn’t her who woke up in the middle of the night and though « Lol fuck it, I don’t feel like doin’ Germany anymore, let’s cancel ». In this case, she obviously probably woke up in the middle of the night thinking « Well crap, this isn’t gonna work » but I highly doubt that she had run around the cold place in her bikini to purposely catch the flu because she didn’t want to play Ireland these days she was meant to. IT JUST HAPPENS, PEOPLE GET SICK, OK? Nearly every single person at my work got sick because of the rapid weather changes. I got sick as well. So did Kylie. Simple like that. Maybe it will shock you, but she is a human being, you know ? If you can’t get over your self-pity to that level where you shower her with hate on instagram to make you feel better, then I obviously I can’t help you. And as I said, get in the fucking bin. Thanks for coming to my ted talk. 86 www.kylie-world.com

MEMO To: Kylie Minogue From: Live Nation Investigative Department RE: Golden Tour We have scoured the SayHey forums in order to get reactions from fans regarding your « Golden Tour ». The following points summarize discussions that can be found online. 1. Your set list needs to feature big hits in order to please casual fans. You should definitely perform « Can’t Get You Out Of My Head », « Kids », « Love At First Sight », « Better The Devil You Know », « Slow » and « Locomotion ». Reinvent them in some way; your fans appreciate that. But do not reinvent them too much: the fans don’t appreciate that as much. Also, you should definitely not perform « Can’t Get You Out Of My Head », « Kids », « Love At First Sight », « Better The Devil You Know », « Slow » and « Locomotion » because you play those too often. Unless, of course, you don’t reinvent them. But you should reinvent them. But just a little. If you play them. But don’t (Do). 2. Always play « All The Lovers ». People like « All The Lovers ». Except for the people who are tired of hearing « All The Lovers ». Skip « All The Lovers ». 3. No one seems upset about your performing « Breathe ». Unless you ruin it. So don’t ruin it. Okay? 4. « Sincerely Yours » is a revelation, a true masterpiece. Your performance on the underplay shows of it stands out among your best. Do not sing it on the tour at any cost. To do so would ruin everything and 75% of the audience will walk out and give interviews to the local news about how mean you are for not singing that one song they really wanted to hear. 5. Your costumes are basic. We don’t want you to wear feathers and « Showgirl » costumes. Please show more of your costumes on Instagram. But make sure they include feathers and « Showgirl » costumes. So they aren’t basic. 6. Do not do a disco set. Fans feel you have done that « to death ». But don’t just do country music. Because your fans hate it and think it’s your worse sound ever. Apart from the people that loved it. So do a disco thing. But don’t. Or everyone will be sad. 7. Do not repeat yourself. Ever. Do not use any arrangements you’ve used on previous tours. Unless, of course, it’s to do something that fans absolutely love. 8. Speaking of which, fans love the idea of an enormous stage set that transforms into a massive city-wide performance piece « just like « Aphrodite » and bigger than « Kiss Me Once » » in which you perform « Cowboy Style ». You’re doing that, right? Fans know beyond a shadow of a doubt that you are doing « Cowboy Style ». So that’s all good. It would be even better if you could include a hit in that section. « What Kind Of Fool », maybe. 9. You should create a narrative and express your artistic vision any way you want. You are an artist. Just don’t create the narrative too much. We want more of a narrative than on « Kiss Me Once Tour ». But make it feel hot and sweaty so we jump up and down for 2 hours like « Showgirl ». But less than « Fever Tour ». As casual fans didn’t like that. Shoot for « On A Night Like This » level of artistic expression. Or « Fever Tour », but only if the set list is better (see above). 10. Oh. And while you can create a narrative do not perform « Kids ». 11. Consider performing « Kids ». 12. Add a show in every city on the planet. Sell them all out immediately. Especially in Brazil. Don’t ever get tired. Don’t have technical issues. If you have technical issues, then don’t. Look like you did 20 years ago. Avoid Brazil and Argentina at all costs. Because the meltdowns on Facebook are hilar. We are sure you will find this information helpful and that you will craft your show accordingly, no doubt pleasing every single person who has ever heard your name before.

Raining glitter:
How to golden up!
Things you will need: 1. Glitter glue If you’re (unlike me) fancy, you can grab a high end one from TooFaced - I was given this one ages ago and been using it ever since, especially for eyes because I’m extremely allergic to literally everything… not even this one is a 100%, but it definitely works better than any other. If you aren’t allergic to anything, grab literally any from superdrug and you’re good
Another common request for an article this month was Glitter tutorials and ideas! We have tried it all for you... It’s a Kylie time and that means it’s glitter time as well! Even though the topic of the album is Golden, it is STILL a Kylie show and I believe you are free to use any colour your heart desires to shower yourself with, just like I did.
2. Glitter All the sizes and shapes you can find!!!!!!!!!!!

Glitter lips:
am saying. Works like hairspray but with glitter! The effect is not as strong as you might expect though. Glitter hair gel: This one will include a little bit of Walk into a stacionary and get yourself some craft DIY. You’ll need a bit of hair gel, you know, the transglitter. It’s the cheapest option you have, and it parent disgusting thing that we all used in 2008, a works wonders. All you need to do is apply a long- spare container and glitter of your choice. I would -lasting matte lipstick, let it dry, a small layer of gli- personally recommend the bigger one, the same tter glue, and then dip your eyeshadow brush (or one you’d use for the highlighter, because it will be even your finger if you’re lazy like me) into the con- a bit more obvious than craft glitter, but once again tainer of glitter and by gentle touches, apply it onto it is completely up to you. Mix these two together the glitter glue. Yet again, let it dry and you’re good in a spare container, get a brush you’ll use to apply to go. Tip: if you have a fixing spray, spray the hell it on with - the best one would be the one we use to outta it to fix it forever. If not, it’s still fine, it’ll last apply hair dye on. and you’re good to go! Make sure for the duration of the show anyway. you don’t go too crazy on the gel though, do equal amount of gel and glitter otherwise you’ll end up like a member of O-Zone.
Glitter highlighter:
What you’ll need: Golden dust from Primark, any type of bigger glitter (our recommendation is Superdrug where a container of star-shaped glitter costs about 3 pounds) My personal fave that I have been doing at all the shows so far. If you’re applying any other make up, make sure you leave this step as the last one. Grab your highlighter brush, the primark three pounds worth golden bust, and do what you’d normally do. And then double it. Once you’re really really golden, it’s time to sparkle it up: grab glitter glue, don’t even bother with a brush, just tap it over the golden highlighter with your fingers and again, apply glitter over it fast before the glue dries.
Glitter under-eyes: Same like the highlight, but do it under your eyes!
Glitter eyes: This is the tricky part with allergic people like me - I have not been able to jump onto the board of glitter eyeshadow, but if you’re allergic-free, go crazy! You can get glitter eyeshadow literally everywhere, if running on a budget, head over to any drug store and simply pick the one you like the most!
Cherry on the top: Glittery eyelashes: Yes, be that extra. Primark has Princess Jasmine themed ones for 3 pounds right now, and they have a bit of golden glitter mixed in the bottom line which makes it look absolutely AWESOME and just perfect for the theme of the album.
Glitter hair: Still got some craft glitter leftover from the lip-part, everyone in the queue is already sparkling as well? Either add a Kylie show and do it all again, or just take the container and spread it E V E R Y W H E R E in your hair. No glue needed, just do it. Obviously, you’re gonna be covered in glitter for days but I’d say its worth it. Want to be a bit more sophisticated than that? Ok, there are two more options. Glitter spray: pound shop, one pound, that’s all I 93 www.kylie-world.com
