Heyyyyy les lovers ! New month, new issue and this time we are certainly a little (a lot) late, but it’s a new little bible that we have created, with the following program: the final clap on the European and Irish leg of the « Golden Tour », En’s Tour Diaries, an extensive focus on « What Do I Have To Do » made by Isa but also a photobook with YOUR photos to remind you of the good memories of this tour. The « Golden Tour » is certainly not over and will arrive in Australia in three months from now, before Kylie returns to Europe for a summer tour that already looks fabulous. Among the new dates added, there’s the famous Glastonbury festival on June 30th, which will be discussed more in detail in the next issue of Kylie Times! In the meantime, have a good holiday, and we’ll talk to you again next year! xx Laeti (With the help of En and Isa)

eleased on December 1st, 2008, the DVD « Kylie X 2008 » which presents one of the most spectacular concerts of Kylie at this time (I think we all agree that « Aphrodite » will remain the most impressive concert of the singer). Shot at the O2 Arena in London in August of the same year and hailed by critics, the concert features Kylie’s hits with « I Should Be So Lucky », « Step Back In Time », « Spinning Around », « Can’t Get You Out Of My Head », « Love At First Sight » but also the singer’s latest hits at the time as well as two unreleased ones : « Ruffle My Feathers » and « Flower ». An original documentary entitled « 12 Hours » is also included and gives a glimpse of what is going on behind the scenes of Kylies’s tour, from the morning when she wakes up, to late in the evening, during the ‘encore’. It also holds the bonus visuals broadcasted on the stage, conceptual designs and a photo gallery!

e know that Kylie and Chris Martin from Coldplay are very close! While the British band recorded their album « Viva La Vida Or Death And All His Friends », our Australian was invited to the studio sessions to record the track « Lhuna ». Basically, this song was supposed to be on their album, but was not selected, judged « too sexy » as explained by Chris Martin. We then hoped to see the track on their EP « Prospekt’s March », and again, it did not make its apperance. We had to wait until December 1st, 2008 for « Lhuna » to officially come out as a single for a charity and to promote the International Day Against AIDS. The leader of Coldplay also explained that he dreamed of singing with Kylie and David Bowie on this song, but when he sent the track to Bowie, he simply replied: « This is not one of your best tracks ». very Day’s Like Christmas is the third track from the album « Kylie Christmas ». The song was written by Chris Martin of Coldplay and Stargate, who also produced it. A few people know it, but Chris Martin, along with Jimmy Junior and Kirsten Gill recorded their voices that were used for choirs on the track. This is also the second collaboration between the leader of Coldplay and Kylie, after « Lhuna » which we told you about above. This song describes a love story with feelings as magical as the Christmas season: « Before you, every day was ordinary, it is true, and now every day is like Christmas ». A remix of this song by Stock Aitken Waterman was also released. The track was very well received by the press and a music video was shot and directed by David Lopez-Edwards. We’re not going to talk too much about the actual music video that contains a person we do not necessarily appreciate, but Kylie appears surrounded by this so-called person and her friends, in a house in London where she has a good time with them the day of Christmas. « Every Day’s Like Christmas » was sung live at the first Christmas concert.

hird single of the album « Aphrodite » : « Better Than Today », a track that I love too! It was written and produced by Nerina Pallot and Andy Chetterley for Nerina’s EP: « Buckminster Fuller EP » in February 2009. The song was heard by Kylie’s artistic director and the singer loved it immediately ! Nerina Pallot did not believe it until... Kylie came in person to a kinda weird neighborhood of London to record the song in the studio. Stuart Price also worked on the track adding some of his production elements. « Better Than Today » unfortunately did not have the same success as the two previous singles in the charts and ranked 32nd in England and 55th in Australia. Despite this, the track reached the top spot of the US Hot Dance Club Billboard Songs, becoming the sixth song from Kylie to reach that spot in this ranking. The music video was directed by Kylie herself with the help of her team and her friend and stylist William Baker. The singer appears on a stage surrounded by dancers and back vocalists and has several outfits during the video, ranging from a blue body with fringes and louboutins’ shoes to another white with blue fringes. This music video is very retro with the visuals in the background recalling video games. Kylie sang this track during « For Me, For You Tour » in 2009, as a gift to the Americans since it took her a while to come back to sing in the country. However, she did many TV shows to promote the songs, notably at X Factor, on the BBC One for the Children In Need, at Capital FM Jingle Bell Ball or during the Royal Variety Performance at the London Palladium. At the end of 2010, Kylie sang « Better Than Today » at the annual Jools Holland Gala.

ow let’s talk about « I Believe In You », a track recorded by Kylie for her ninth album « Greatest Hits » : « Ultimate Kylie ». The song was written by Kylie and members of Scissors Sisters: Jake Shears and Babydaddy and produced by the latter two. In this track, Kylie explains that there are many things she does not believe in but she believes in her lover. The song was rather well received by critics and ranked first in Portugal and Romania, second in Denmark, England and Scotland and third in the Billboard Dance Club songs. It has also reached the top 10 of many countries, including Australia. « I Believe In You » gave Kylie a Grammy Award nomination in the « Best Dance Recording » category and was gold-certified in Australia and England. « I Believe In You » was also released as a single, with as B-side, one of my other favorite songs: « B.P.M », which was also performed during the Anti-Tour. The music video was directed by Vernie Yeung and choreographed by Rafael Bonchela. We see the singer in the center of a colorful sphere with neon lights in a short white dress. Kylie then appears in a purple dress, with many visual effects and dancers wearing brightly colored clothing. We got to know shortly after the filming of the music video that the multicolored bulbs worn by the dancers were attached to their bodies and that they had to walk with batteries in improvised small bags during filming so that the lights would continue to light on. The costumes were created by Dolce & Gabbana. Kylie gave them to the Melbourne Arts Center in 2006 so they could join her costume collection. Let’s also add that the music video ranked first for three weeks in the MTV Europe ranking and second in the UK in the charts. Concerning the live performances, Kylie appeared in numerous TV shows such as Top Of The Pops, Nordic Music Awards, Star Wars Top Of The Pops, Star Academy, Hit Machine and more. The track was included in many tours such as « Showgirl The Greatest Hits Tour », « Showgirl The Homecoming Tour », « KylieX2008 », « For Me, For You », « Aphrodite The Folies » and during the « Golden Tour ».

t’s still Christmas to meeeeeeee! Released on December 7th, 2015 as the second track of the album « Kylie Christmas », « 100 Degrees », is a duet with her sister Dannii. The song was written by Kylie and came out on April 1st in a new version « 100 Degrees » (Still Disco To Me), without the word « Christmas ». The singer explained that she had written this track inspired by her own story, as she had to adapt to a winter Christmas in the UK after being raised in Australia. « 100 Degrees » was recorded in good conditions in England because Kylie did it in August, while the country was suffering from the heat wave! She was also inspired by the old tracks of Donna Summer, quite vintage and disco. A music video was filmed in the studio where Kylie and Dannii are seen writing, recording and having fun together. The place was decorated for the occasion with tinsels and Christmas baubles, and Dannii wears a « Disco Christmas » t-shirt while Kylie has the « Kylie Kissmas » t-shirt. The two sisters performed the track at the X Factor Grand Final in Australia, and Dannii joined Kylie in England for her first Christmas show and surprised both the audience and her entire family! This year 2015 also marks their first performance together since 2006, when they sang « Kids » during the « Showgirl, The Homecoming Tour ». Note that the song was used by Target Australia for their Christmas commercials (Dannii Minogue appears in the commercial and has made several collections for this brand). In addition, at the end of 2016, the vinyl of the track was ranked at the seventh place in the best seller of the year. 6 www.kylie-world.com

ollowing the success of the first concert at the Royal Albert Hall and the release of the reissue with the album « Kylie Christmas Snow Queen Edition », Kylie announced two dates in 2016, at the Royal Albert Hall in London again, for new concerts for Christmas. Of course, getting seats for at least one of the dates was another disaster, but the show was up to expectations. This second edition was a little shorter than the first with 26 tracks instead of 29 and six acts. « Stay Another Day » was sung only on December 9th and three guests appeared at both concerts: John Grant, Olly Alexander (from Years And Years) and Katherine Jenkins. Kylie mixed the tracks of the two Christmas albums and pleased us singing another song she was promoting at this time: « Night Fever ». Unfortunately no live DVD was released after this concert and the only videos that can be found are available on social networks and YouTube.

lways in the spirit of Christmas concerts, this time we will talk about the very first concert of December 11th, 2015. Everyone was very excited to go there and we were all very disappointed when the tickets were put up for sale and we saw this big mess. For the lucky ones who had the precious tickets for the event, it was a 90-minute concert with many surprises. Of course we had the songs of Christmas, but also some hits of the Australian singer. Chrissie Hynde played « 2000 Miles » alongside Kylie, but the best moment will certainly remain the one when Dannii Minogue appeared on stage to sing « 100 Degrees », which literally lit up the venue because no one expected to see her (even if we all had hope!). This concert was a real success and Kylie released a DVD of this first date with the reissue of the album. The show was also broadcasted on television soon after being recorded, enough to immerse ourselves in the Christmas atmosphere!
ourth single of « Light Years », « Please Stay », written by Kylie, Richard Stannard, Julian Gallagher and John Themis, and produced by Stannard and Gallagher. This track is quite disco and contains some elements and influences of latin pop music. As b-side, we got « Santa Baby » and « Good Life ». The song was rather well received by the press but had a very moderate success in the charts, ranking at the tenth place at it best in Belgium, Ireland and England. In other countries, « Please Stay » has hardly been ranked in the top 20. Nevertheless, the song has been certified gold in Australia, with 35,000 copies sold. The music video was directed by James Frost and Alex Smith. We see Kylie driving a car during the night, between other scenes where she is lying in a bed. After the first verse, we find the singer who gets down via a pole through which firefighters come down and she appears in a kind of bar with a pool table. We were hoping to have this song during the « Golden Tour », with the act where the pool table was present, unfortunately Kylie interpreted « Please Stay » only during the « KylieFever2002 » and the « Showgirl: The Greatest Hits Tour ». 7 www.kylie-world.com

ive In New York is a live album of Kylie that was recorded during the « For You, For Me Tour », a series of nine concerts in the United States, including a date in Canada. The show was, as the name suggests, recorded in New York at the Hammerstein Ballroom. To promote this opus, Kylie’s YouTube page aired the first part of the concert two days before its official release. Unfortunately, the song « Better Than Today » was not included in the CD as it was going to be released on her next album « Aphrodite ». The CD lasts 1 hour and 49 minutes and consists of 25 tracks. It was rather well received by the press, the Digital Spy even giving it five stars.

ritten by Stock, Aitken Waterman, « It’s No Secret » is a track from Kylie’s debut album. Basically, this song was supposed to be released internationally but it was canceled in favor of « Hand On Your Heart ». Indeed, after her song with Jason Donovan « Especially For You », Kylie’s producers wanted to continue to exploit this success and thus released the first extract of the singer’s second album. « It’s No Secret » was released in the United States, New Zealand, Canada and Japan. Kylie also managed to reach the top 40 of the Billboard Hot 100 in the United States at the 37th place, which is great considering that the track had no promotion. As b-side, we can find « Look My Way » and « Made In Heaven ». A music video was shot in Melbourne in Kylie’s hometown, Port Douglas. Concerning the scenario, we knew better, but to sum up it shortly, Kylie is arguing with her boyfriend who takes her money and who is interested in another girl. We see her walking on a railway line and then thinking about the situation. Namely that a screenshot of the video of « It’s No Secret » was used for the cover of the cassette of « Hand On Your Heart », with this song as b-side, as well as « Would not Change A Thing ».

The song ranked 36th on the charts in Japan and was performed on two tours: « On A Night Like This Tour » and « Showgirl Homecoming ». Kylie also sang this song on the 25th anniversary of Mushroom Records in 1998 in Melbourne, Australia.

ow let’s mention a series, « Doctor Who », in which Kylie participated in an episode, « Voyage of the Damned », broadcasted on Christmas Day, December 25th, 2007. The singer plays a waitress, named Astrid Peth. After leaving Martha Jones, the doctor strikes a spaceship called the Titanic. He decides to stay on board: it is a gigantic cruiser that aims to visit planets of primitive civilization, including the Earth. He meets Astrid who wishes to participate in an excursion on Earth. Wanting to please her, the doctor takes her with him. Their visit to London is shortened due to disturbing events taking place on the boat. The captain fired all his officers and voluntarily caused a collision between meteorites and the Titanic. He died in the accident but one of the officers, Alonso Frame, tries to guide the surviving passengers. The problem is that the engines will break up really soon. At that moment, the Titanic will leave its orbit and crash on the Earth, causing the disappearance of all life on its surface... This episode was watched by more than 13 million people and is one of the most viewed of all time. Filming took place from July 9th to August 11th in London. Kylie met with costume designer Louise Page four times before filming to discuss her costume, with the desire to find a 50s dress for a small girl - and not a long dress. Five costumes were created for Kylie and the people who did the dubbing of the singer. She also said after the shoot that this dress was one of the most comfortable she had worn in years! The episode is available on the internet if you want to (re) see!

e finish with a classic: « I Should Be So Lucky »: the track was composed and produced by Stock Aitken Waterman in London. The story is now well known, Kylie went to the British capital to meet the producers after the success of « The Loco-Motion ». When she arrived, they had forgotten the singer’s arrival, and that’s how the song was born, in less than 40 minutes while Kylie was waiting outside the recording studio. Mike Stock wrote the lyrics based on the singer’s life: although she was really successful, he knew something was wrong in her life and realized she had not found love. Kylie recorded the song in less than an hour and then returned to Australia to continue filming « Neighbours ». The track was rather well received by the critics but it is especially the public which appreciated this song, allowing it to rank extremely well in the charts, first in 7 countries: Australia, England, Germany or at the top of the European ranking (European Hot 100 Single). It also ranked 28th in the Billboard Hot 100 in the United States. « I Should Be So Lucky » received several certifications, including a platinum album in Australia, a silver one in France, and a gold record in Germany and England. The music video was directed by Chris Langman and filmed in November 1987 at Channel 7 studios in Melbourne, Australia. Another version was also shot for TV promotion, but if you want to know more, I invite you to read the full focus made by Isa.

KYLIE MINOGUE WHAT DO I HAVE TO DO ? Another Kylie MASTERPIECE alert! Three months after the release of « Step Back In Time », and a little less than two months after her new album « Rhythm Of Love » came out, another Kylie single was released and not just any single: the brilliant « What Do I Have To Do » ! Recorded and mixed at PWL’s London Studios in mid-July 1990 but only released on January 21st, 1991 in the UK, this was the third single from Kylie’s third studio album. This song was meant to be the follow-up single to « Better The Devil You Know » but was postponed in favour of « Step Back In Time ». I’m pretty sure that this is also one of your fave Kylie songs, right Lovers? It’s a timeless classic, just like all the other singles releases from « Rhythm Of Love ». But let’s face it, when we hear the song, the first thing we all think about is its promo video!
Focus • What Do I Have To Do « What Do I Have To Do » was written and produced by… (Oh come on, I’m sure you know now!) Stock, Aitken and Waterman. It’s incredible to see that 27 years after its release, this song still stands for many as one of the best songs that Kylie ever did.
As a consequence, the video for this single became Kylie’s most controversial yet and was also a major step for her. But we’ll come back to the video in detail later on in this article.
This sexy, innovative, smooth and snappy song is If you read the last edition of the Kylie Times, all about a girl basically screaming out to a guy that you’ll already know that the first mix ever made of she doesn’t know what she has to do to make him this song was the « Billy The Fish Mix » by Tony King, see and to prove him how much she loves and wants and you’ll also know that when the song premiered him. on Pete Waterman’s Radio City show in Liverpool in August 1990, it received a lukewarm response within the PWL building.
I think we all know how much this song and music video were important in Kylie’s career. Indeed, Kylie was now fully in control of her image, which changed rather drastically with this single. She didn’t completely loose her fan base of « kids » but she was definitely gaining some new fans with this look. She couldn’t please everyone all the time right? She was still growing up so this was yet another natural Maybe that’s the why the album version of the progression. The most important thing was that Kysong was then specially remixed before its single lie loved having that control and loved what she was release, by Phil Harding and Ian Curnow, who had doing. already worked on remixing « Step Back In Time » before that. This new version of the song contains Released a few months before, her third album samples from US comedian Sam Kinison as a voice- « Rhythm of Love » and its worldwide hit single, over. « Better the Devil You Know », was a major change for her style both with looks and music, it It was a more mature sound, once again, and took her out of the stifling world of teen pop that Stock, Aitken and Waterman and production facilities was turning into more dance-based song, and brought at PWL were now using a lot more digital production her into the more adult world of dance music and on their songs. nightclubs. « What Do I Have To Do » was the next giant step forward. As said it was released as a single in January 1991, and at the same time, Kylie was getting prepared for *** her « Rhythm Of Love » Tour that would start on February 10th 1991, in Canberra. The tour only visited Her relationship with Stock, Aitken and WaterOZ and Asia. man was not getting any better since the last single though - still because of the control she now had on Kylie was still going out with Michael Hutchence her work, look and music - but she still had 2 years who was still encouraging her to be herself and to to run on her PWL contract, so the team tried to up show her sensuality and sexuality wherever possible. their game and « What Do I Have To Do? » gave the 12 www.kylie-world.com

didn’t do as well as her other releases in the singles charts.
Pete Waterman later said: « There’s only one person that changed Kylie and that’s Kylie (not her managers). Kylie was managed by nobody. Kylie made that decision and Kylie made the decision when she wanted to change. When she left Neighbours she did not any longer want to be the Kylie of the « Especially For You » years. The minute she left the TV series, Kylie was not interested in that character. You’ve only got to look at the Michael Hutchence thing and the Jason Donovan thing. In reality, what we were doing was nowhere near as fast as she moved. At the end of the day, a song’s a song but going from Jason Donovan to Michael Hutchence is a bit more bloody radical than going from « I Should Be So Lucky » to « Better The Devil You Know », to make a bold statement! »
• UK: It was Kylie’s first single ever to miss out on a top 5 placing in the UK, but it somehow remains one of her most popular hits of the era over there. It entered at #11, peaked at #6 and stayed 8 weeks in total in the charts. It was a success, but deserved so much more if you ask me. • Iceland: Peak 6. • Ireland: Peak 7. • Finland: Peak 10. • Australia: It missed the top 10. It debuted at #27 and peaked at 11, staying there for two consecutive weeks. • Belgium: It peaked at 15 and stayed in the charts 8 weeks. • Germany: it peaked at an outrageously low 48. • France: It peaked at number 50. • Netherlands: The song debuted at #99 in the ‘Single Top 100’, and peaked at #81 for one week.
THE ICONIC VIDEO I don’t even know where to start to be honest, so I’ll introduce you quickly to the video director, that’s a good starting point. David Hogan is an innovative pioneer director of hundreds of music videos, as well as commercials and films. He is American and has worked for stars like Diana Ross, Rod Stewart, Shania Twain, Lionel Richie, Cock Robin, Prince… After the « What Do I Have To Do » video, he would work again on two other Kylie videos (for « Shocked » and « Finer Feelings »).
He also recalled : « Everyone wanted to be Kylie Minogue, except Kylie Minogue who wanted to be Madonna, and on top of that I think she was getting embarrassed with her past because it was part of her growing up. She had to reject her past so that she could find her own identity ».
CHARTS The song went number one worldwide in pretty much ALL dance charts! But - even though this is one of the coolest singles Kylie released back then - it

these rumours weren’t true. Moreover, Kylie had just written « Love Traffic » for Dannii’s debut album. In case you didn’t know, Dannii wears a short blonde wig in the video and makes a cameo appearance in the nightclub images. ***

The fact that the video is partly monochrome is done on purpose of course, and adds even more glamour to it. In the video she was wearing a mixture of new and vintage fashion (all of them being super sexy). The new outfits were from Azzedine Alaia and Thierry Mugler (French maid’s outfit) and the famous black and white dress (below) was a vintage find.
The video was filmed in London in December 1990. It was really cold (nearly snowing) when it was filmed - Kylie went from the steaming streets of Los Angeles right into the British winter. And as you know there are some scenes where she is outside so our poor Kylie must have been freezing. Kylie said that the video was a really fun to work on and full of hidden meanings. It was hard work to get every image right and even though the public only sees some images very quickly in the video, it took two 18-hours days to film it. She felt like she’d done everything imaginable in this video, from the cold streets to a warm bed and onto a swimming pool. The shots were done in slow motion which means they had to be filmed at high speed so that in the video they come out slow. Kylie had asked Dannii to come along to the filming. At the time, the media were all saying that the Minogue sisters hated each other so the fact of asking Dannii to feature in the video was to confirm that all

hard as if she had belted me around the face with one of her Manolos. I loved every second of the video and the song. The imaginary fusion of Joan Collins meets Liz Taylor with a tattooed panther on her back perfectly expressed the playful seduction, flirtatious charm and kitsch glamour of the girl that I was soon to meet. With that video, she unwittingly cornered every conceivable member of a pop audience: her gay fans admired the drag sensibility, her little girl fans dived into their mothers’ make-up bags, her straight male fans wanted to bend her over the ironing board, and older girls wanted to nip down to the wig shop and reinvent themselves ».
William Baker in Lalala : « The video evoked the glamorous images of the starlets of Hollywood’s heyday, Kylie’s eyebrows were heavily pencilled and lips more clearly defined in the manner of a movie star. Her looks became increasingly dramatic, almost to the point of caricature… David Thomas was dispatched to Paris to raid the showrooms of Azzedine Alaia and Thierry Mugler… Kylie’s drag-queen impersonation in the video leapt out from the screen at me and in those 3 and a half minutes, her whole future and its infinite diversity of possibilities opened up in my mind’s eye. Kylie pouted, flirted and flaunted her novel drag elegance, teetering on her new staple item, stilettos, and from that point on, she was never without them ». « The shot where she is ironing, dressed in a Mugler version of a French maid’s outfit, hurling the iron back and forth with more make-up on than Boy George, Marilyn and Pete Burns put together, remains my all-time favourite image of her, glamorising the most mundane of household chores. Not a fraction of an inch of those eyebrows melted as the steam rose from the fifties iron and from that moment I became a Kylie fan. I never assumed that was how she looked when she ironed her tiny G-strings, but it was the fantasy element, the escapist dream of this pocked Bardot housemaid that hit me as
*** The music video begins with clips of the dance scene intercut with Kylie emerging from a steaming swimming pool and her crush seeing her with another man. The crush in question is played by Zane O’Donnell, a model who would also appear in Kylie’s next video (we’ll talk about him more in our next focus). Kylie then goes outside on a balcony to overlook a fairground and, of course, her crush follows her. In the next scene, we see Kylie’s crush watching her dance (she’s wearing a black short hair wig) in a nightclub, and doing some lesbian canoodling with another girl. Then we see Kylie waking up in his bed as he prepares to leave the bedroom. After that, Kylie sings on the bed and then we see her singing and dancing with her long vintage dress in front of a white backdrop. The video then goes back to her and her girlfriend

Finally, she is wearing another wig and we see her with the black panther tattoo on her back and and she goes to show it to her lover. The video ends with all of the different scenes intercut with her doing the ironing (and let’s admit it Lovers, no one can make ironing look as sexy as Kylie did).
30th best track of 1991. • Very recently, in May 2018, Cameron Adams from The Sunshine Coast Daily (the only daily newspaper specifically serving the Sunshine Coast region of Queensland, Australia) chose « What Do I Have To Do » as one of Kylie’s 50 best songs. He wrote : « Stock Aitken Waterman’s not-so-secret weapon was taking dance music of the day and shoehorning it into a killer pop song. And this song invented Club Kylie - it was her very own « Ride On Time », an absolute rave pop masterpiece (that piano line and built-in ecstatic rushes) that suffered only from the fact it was released in the first wave of a Kylie backlash - a growing sense of Minogue fatigue from an unavoidable string of smiley Kylie pop. SAW even allowed her to grow up lyrically, with references to her bed that didn’t involve sleeping. Play this alongside any of the same club pop hits of the era (Madonna’s Vogue, Deee-Lite’s Groove is in the Heart) and it fits in perfectly ».
CRITICS • It wasn’t so much the single made waves within the media but the video. The sexual undertones running through the clip actually proved too much for Saturday morning TV shows which aired a censored version of the video. • The single received many positive reviews from most music critics, who said the song was an instant rave classic. • Chris True from Allmusic highlighted the song as an album standout on « Rhythm Of Love ». • While reviewing « Ultimate Kylie », Mark Edwards from Stylus Magazine gave it a positive remark, saying that it was a great song and made Kylie suddenly a little bit cool.

Some of the photos taken during that photoshoot would be used for the famous i-D magazine « The Love Issue » later in March 1991 where Kylie was the cover girl. For this photoshoot, Kylie was styled by David Thomas. Just to give you a bit of background, David Thomas in 1991 was 25 years old and became the youngest fashion editor in the world for British Esquire Magazine. He is now a world-renowned and well respected fashion stylist with over 23 years of experience in the fashion world. He is considered one of the original pioneers of the celebrity stylist title. He has worked with various clients such as: Oasis, Sting, Liza Minelli, Jack Nicholson, Angelina Jolie, The Spice Girls, David and Victoria Beckham, Robbie Williams, Dita Von Teese and Usher and currently works with clients such as Puff Daddy, Chris Brown, Britney Spears and Avril Lavigne. This is what David remembers from this i-D photoshoot: « My first i-D cover was styling Kylie Minogue in 1991 and it marks one of my favourite sessions. Judy Blame was art directing, I was his
his assistant, and it was my first shoot with Robert Erdmann. Kylie Minogue was really big at the time. She’d just finished Neighbours, released « I Should Be So Lucky » and was about to change her image. That was a real turning point for her. She wore a black PVC bustier, long black gloves and it was just a really cool shoot. The PVC corset was from Rigby & Peller. I still have Polaroids. My most vivid memory is of Kylie armed with a pair of scissors, reviewing contact sheets of a previous shoot of hers. It was before photographers owned the rights to their pictures. She was basically cutting out all the pictures she didn’t approve or didn’t like of herself. I liked her style. Any picture you ever saw of Kylie was approved by Kylie; nothing ever went out that wasn’t. I’ve never seen anyone have so much control or be so into their image. She was way ahead of everyone else. Kylie was brilliant and we’re still friends now. I went on to style two videos for her and I still see her. She’s great ».
LIVE AND TV PERFORMANCES Contrary to her previous singles, Kylie didn’t perform « What Do I Have To Do » that much on TV. Probably because she was working hard on rehearsing for her « Rhythm Of Love » Tour. She performed it twice on French TV (and to be honest she’s more dancing than singing as she’s lipsynching), but not before March and April, at these 2 shows: • Live Balthazar • Zapper n’est pas jouer Funny thing about these performances is that she is wearing the same PVC outfit as the one she wore for the i-D magazine pics. She would also wear it later when performing « Shocked » on some TV shows and she also wore it during the « Rhythm Of Love Tour ».

• People were asking more and more Kylie if she was trying to be Madonna, and things would get even worse during and after her « Let’s Get To It » Tour. Kylie always answered that no, she was concentrating on being herself. • Kylie had a hard time doing the show, she was starting to suffer from a loss of voice.
• Kylie Minogue sang « Your Disco Needs You » in the ‘encore’ with lyrics in German.
• She took up a little girl on stage to dance with her on « Especially For You ».
• The « Kylie Minogue Live In Berlin » sign was back.
• The sign « Kylie Minogue Live In Hamburg » was there.
#9 - KOLN
• The audience sang « Your Disco Needs You » a capella hoping that Kylie will go on, but the singer did not sing the track, her voice was not at the top that night, so the audience sang it for her !
• Kylie performed again « Your Disco Needs You » in the ‘encore’ with lyrics in German following the public demand. • Kylie apparently did the rehearsals of « Sincerely Yours » but did not sing it on stage. • She was a little lost with the setlist and announced songs titles different from those she sang. • She took a fan on stage who had a sign asking for a « Golden Hug ».
#13 - DUBLIN • Kylie was back on stage with the old setup and the catwalk. • The costumes were the same as for the tour in England, the first being the long pink dress. • The sign was back. • She performed the old setlist with « Get Outta My Way » but without « I Believe In You » and « Radio On ».
• No sign « Kylie Minogue Live In Koln ».
• The 20-minute break between the two parts was back.
#10 - AMSTERDAM • The sign « Kylie Minogue Live In Amsterdam » was back. • The stage was quite high, much more than usual. • She sang some notes of « Timebomb ». • Kylie has also performed « I Should Be So Lucky » following public demand.
#11 - COPENHAGEN
• Kylie sang « Let It Snow » in the ‘encore’.
#14 - BELFAST • Same facts as for Dublin concerning the stage, the sign, the break or the setlist. • No change of dress at the opening of the concert, Kylie sang with the pink dress that made the whole tour in the UK.
• The concert was seated. • The atmosphere was shitty, people did not know the tracks and asked us for most of them to sit and shut up except in the first three rows where the audience was really enjoying the show. • The venue (an opera) was so small that the front rows 38 www.kylie-world.com

REVIEWS
#7 - FRANKFURT https://www.regioactive.de by Erik Winkes The first tour in eight years in Germany is like a come back for Kylie Minogue. New elements that put music at the center of the show without giving up what made her iconic: her hits. The first part of the concert presents Kylie Minogue very different from the previous performances. Even the opening of the show is surprisingly not spectacular. The musicians and dancers are already in action when the two-winged door on the right under the sloping ramp opens and Kylie Minogue begins to sing as she enters the room. The song « Golden » of the new album is a first indication that music should be in the foreground - and not the show. Change and adaptation is an understandable response from Kylie, especially in recent years. After the incredible success of the album « Fever » in 2001 with over 6 million copies sold and the super hit « Can’t Get You Out Of My Head » followed by some tubes and albums really successful, Kylie came back with the album « Aphrodite » that started to mark this downward trend. The next album, « Kiss Me Once » was a flop. In addition, the insolvency of their former tour promotor agency led to the complete cancellation of the planned tour in Germany in 2014. Since 2010, she only had appeared headlining the Melt! Festival in 2015. After such a long absence without a real success, it is logical and normal to take the current tour to smaller venues in the early 2000s. The Jahrhunderthalle in Frankfurt was not sold-out but well filled. Significantly and much more than before, music is more important than the show. In close contact with her ever-loyal audience, she delivers two old hits with « Better The Devil You Know » and « In Your Eyes », frantically sung by the audience. This is the new song « A Lifetime To Repair », surprisingly cool and whose melody is immediately memorized by the audience who brings the best atmosphere. « Stop Me From Falling » is another new track that fits perfectly with this modern country style. The fast pace is very well received. Many spectators get up, clap their hands and dance. It’s not a coincidence if Kylie chose to go in this direction because we know how much modern pop country is booming in the UK. The new album « Golden » produced in Nashville is per-
fectly in tune with the trend. It’s a lot better for her than the unsuccessful attempt to reduce her voice to electro-pop. At other times, the sound is much more rocky some moments, which is fine with her voice. One of the highlights of the concert is the new version of « Slow ». Kylie, in a skin-tight leather outfit, immediately reminiscent of her nickname Sexy Kylie, shows her sexy mega stance and her rock side over the now-intense sound of guitars and drums. The energetic version of « Kids » she has already sung with Robbie Williams brings back a really good mood in the venue. The spectators have been carried away and make a lot of noise. For the first time, the audience is really relaxing. The closer the end of the show approaches, the more Kylie’s style we know since decades has been coming to the surface. In other words: the tubes are making an echo to many people and are adored by fans. The concert consists of a good catchy pop sound, with lots of dancing, confetti and glitter, which sounds obvious - otherwise it would not be a

Focus • Golden Tour Europe and Ireland Kylie Minogue concert. Beautiful melodies such as the duet « Especially For You » , that she has already sung with Jason Donovan, are taken in chorus by the public. This track is quite minimalist, reduced to the voice and the melody. Thus, even « All The Lovers » begins slowly before being more intense, thanks to the explosion of several confetti cannons. The disco style of the 1970s allows to revive the singer and her shows. The combination of « New York City » and « Raining Glitter » fits perfectly to the famous hit « On A Night Like This ». With a slight irony, everyone dances on « The Loco-Motion » and the big explosion follows with « Spinning Around ». Unfortunately, Kylie forgets one of her most famous songs, « Your Disco Needs You ». Not only the song would have been thematically perfect and still generate huge public excitement - at other concerts she sometimes sang the song at the fans’ request in the ‘encore’. Too bad the audience in Frankfurt can not enjoy it. The concert ends with « Love At First Sight » and « Dancing », but it lacks the final emotional push that « Your Disco Needs You » would have guaranteed. Overall, Kylie Minogue sometimes has surprisingly low tones - and offered what was expected of her only in the second part of her disco concert as we like it. The mix of hits and new tracks should give her a viable concept for the future, with which she will also be able to impress the public during her festival appearances in 2019 (for example, at Rock Werchter). https://www.op-online.de/ by Stefan Michalzik There is no doubt: when we talk about a glamorous production, an ageless pop princess that has just celebrated her 50th birthday, it is definitely Kylie. On the music side, in 2001, when her famous song « Can’t Get You Out Of My Head » was released, everyone agreed that « Kylie » was part of the international scene, even the independent scene. The album « Fever » was a real success created by her great producers. Minogue, who began as an actress in a soap opera and was known for her disco tracks created by the English trio Stock-Aitken-Waterman, had managed to reinvent herself with talent. Unfortunately it is no longer possible to count on it. The current album, « Golden », whose songs make up about a quarter of the concert’s setlist, is characterized by its country style - and especially by a lot of cheap disco songs. Of course, the show is very well staged. Five musicians, two singers - and above all: eight dancers, who first appear in the outfit of cowboys and cowgir-
ls, then in biker band with leather outfits. A set of images is broadcasted on stage and with cinematographic references of the United States, with bars, cars and mythical objects of this kind. The show is produced as a musical with choreographed scenes. Everything, of course, is perfect. A real treat for the eyes. The most appealing part on the musical side is the final part with a tribute to the famous New York club around « Studio 54 » and more particularly to Nile Rogers and his band Chic. And Minogue walks casually in her shimmering gold dress. « Where The Wild Roses Grow », the duet with Nick Cave dating from 1996, is performed by Minogue only in short a capella. Why ? The songs always treats a lot of love, in a naive way, mixing the mature woman with the eternal girl. It makes sense that she wants to stay « Kylie » simply, without her last name, as a young star. It’s possible, but since the music is far from what was done previously, it seems complicated. #8 - BERLIN https://www.rbb24.de by Susanne Bruha Kylie Minogue has been in business for 30 years and her greatest successes are already a few years old. But the Australian has loyal fans, especially in the gay community. The pop diva stopped in Berlin on Monday night. There are mountains on the screen behind the stage and a starry sky above. While the band and the singers arrive on stage in a brown suit with the beginning of the music, the guitar starts playing slowly and the day comes up on the screen. Just above the silhouette of cowboys and cowgirls - as in an old advertisement on cigarettes. This country setting is perfectly in accordance with the style of Kylie Minogue’s new album, with the singer herself coming through a door on the side of the stage. Kylie Minogue wears a blue-black ruffle dress and cowgirl boots with stiletto heels of 20 cm high. The concert begins with « Golden », the name track of the new album. In fact, she should have entered on the bike on the left, but the Tempodrom scene is too small for such adventures. Apparently, the scenography was once intended for larger venues: the eight cowboys and cowgirls are dancers and they have to sneak onto the rather tight stage with a small gap that separates them from the audience and be careful not to fall. The choreography is like a cheap peasant theater,

sion or on « All The Lovers », where people who sit start dancing. During the evening you will get used to the many excited dancers - or the tight stage. And the fact that Kylie does not sing all the parts of her songs, but that her choristers catch up pretty well. Five changes of outfit later, the concert turns into a huge party with confetti and glittering streamers. At the end of the show, the singer bids farewell to the audience with the track « Your Disco Needs You », where she says in German: « Deine Disko braucht dich! ». https://www.morgenpost.de/ by Sören Kittel Berlin. At one point, Kylie is on stage and slams her buttocks. In front of the public. She does that smiling, with self-mockery. The 50-year-old artist is trying to reinvent herself with a country album called « Golden ». It makes you want to put on a tight black pants and encourage her. Already crazy, but in a way very charming, especially when you realize that she has a lot of fun. It was during the song « Stop Me From Falling », perhaps the best song of the album. She sings live and it does not matter if her voice sounds like Mickey Mouse for a short time or disappears. She has to go through there. All the others too. And unlike many stars, she asks « Are you having fun? », not only in the direction of the fans, but also to her team. In 2014, her European tour in Germany had to be canceled because too few fans bought seats. It’s different this time and she’s almost back. The Tempodrom is apparently not complete, but after a quick look in the arena, it feels like it’s almost full. Plus, Kylie Minogue does a lot to flatter Berlin fans. She wears a white cowgirl jacket with an embroidered « Berlin » on the back. She also said that she came to the city on a personal basis. This concert is her fourth in Berlin. And in April, she made people talk about her by presenting her album at the Berghain, the dark facial expressions and exaggerated gestures are not heart of Berlin clubs. chian heartache? Somehow she made this unlikely new direction work at a concert that doubled as celebratory hoedown. Future-shock smash « Can’t Get You Out Of Me Head » was repurposed as ZZ Top-style rock out and material from this year’s « Golden » album blossomed under the spotlight like cacti in the desert. Typical was « Shelby’68 », which surfed a pop chorus while serving largely as an excuse for Minogue to lead her hoofers through a high-concept line-dance. She clearly loved every cheesy second – and her fans (curiously subdued for much of the evening) – appeared mostly won over too. Kylie is both a gay icon and one of the last great Eighties pop stars not to become their own glorified tribute act. Looking back, it is a towering irony that she was initially dismissed as a puppet of producers Stock Aitken Waterman and derided for her musical talents. She will, it is true, never be an Adele-level powerhouse. But Kylie is a magnetic performer with a star power that twinkled brightly in Dublin. There was some glancing over her shoulder, of course – a winking « Better The Devil You Know » and an appropriately dizzying « Spinning Around ». In acknowledgment of the season, she also belted out an impromptu « Let It Snow, Let It Snow, Let It Snow ». Yet it was the new material in which Kylie was clearly most invested and she pleaded forcefully that, three decades in, the dead claws of the nostalgia industry still don’t have her in their grip.
Just like Madonna, she has always reinvented herself musically during her career, which began in the 80s with the series « Neighbours » and the song « I Should Be So Lucky »: what will Kylie Minogue offer to her fans during her concert at the Mehr Theater? A giant screen depicting an arid landscape of meadows, cowgirls and cowboys dancing on stage, beards guys playing guitar and bass. Between the two, the little singer, aged of 50 years old, is still beautiful and ageless. On the program, Western romance, of course, with her new album « Golden » Minogue discovered her love for the country. That, thankfully, you do not have to share unconditionally. In the second track already, « Better The Devil You Know », a piece dating back to the 90’s clearly shows that the Australian invites you to a wild ride through the scenes and pop decades on this Saturday. Her highlights, especially her old hits, are: a casual version of « Can’t Get You Out Of My Head », the song that catapulted Minogue to the top of the charts in 2001. Or the seductive « Slow » of the album « Body Language », which infuses a Minogue in skin-tight outfit in front of the microphone. « So sado maso » whispers a man in his partner’s ear - but do not worry, under Kylie’s jacket, it is only wrote « The Lovers United ». Focus • Golden Tour Europe and Ireland cowboy hoedowns as she commands the stage, rolling from covers of « Blue Velvet » and mashing up « Can’t Get You Out of My Head » with Fleetwood Mac’s « The Chain ». A smaller production than her 2011 « Aphrodite: Les Folies Tour », which was big, feathery and fierce, the « Golden Tour » is an intimate interaction with the star who usually plays the ultimate showgirl. Sitting with her legs crossed on a pool table, she raises a drink to « health, happiness and love » before explaining how she was « on the floor in tears » when she had to cancel the original October date for this show. Not one to dwell on the sad times, she picks herself up and launches into an unstoppable celebration of life. By weaving her new country sound into her hefty back catalogue, songs like « Wow » lose out on the synths and unfortunately lack momentum but her taunting 1994 single « Confide In Me » evolves into a brooding rock song. She oozes charm as she chats with the crowd and recognises fans from previous tours but then camps it up for « Slow », slinking around in head-to-toe skintight leather, grinding against her soon-to-be-topless male dancers. « The One », taken from her 2008 album « X », begins as a soft ballad but soon picks up the pace and grows into a song of pulsating and blind infatuation. Although it’s a dizzying pop song, Minogue plays her vulnerability as a strength in songs like « The One », something she has perfected for each decade of her career. She’s committed to providing a good time, and her respect for her fanbase beams through every beat of the fevered « Spinning Around » and every swelling verse of « All the Lovers ». As laser beams bounce off a giant disco ball, a flurry of rainbow confetti and gold glitter descends on the crowd for a ramped-up performance of « Love At First Sight », a song she says was written in Dublin, and « On A Night Like This ». No energy is spared on these songs, and just as we have a Kylie for every mood and era, we also have Kylie for every season. Noting that it’s the start of December, she throws in a last-minute performance of « Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow! », her first Christmas song of the season, bringing on a white confetti snowstorm. Concluding with « Dancing », the lead single from her new album, she wraps up 30 years of pop music at its best. In 30 years, Minogue’s message has never changed. She takes the sadness and hardship she’s experienced and turns it into something positive. In
her music, she asks us to love hard, dance harder and share the fun around. Instead of looking for the silver lining, Minogue finds the « Golden » lining. #14 - BELFAST https://www.irishnews.com/ by Jane Hardy Yee-haw’s the only possible reaction to Kylie Minogue’s rescheduled « Golden Tour » gig that packed out the SSE Arena last night. Some in the audience cleverly wore Stetsons. Her on-trend country music tendency fired up the first section which borrowed from Ms Minogue’s most recent album, « Golden ». Arriving onstage in glam pink, this diminutive Dolly Parton produced some disco pop with a country twist. Vocally, she seemed to be a bit Stateside. Numbers like the title track examine the usual heartbreak and disasters but remain poppy, even upbeat, because Kylie isn’t a woman to mess with a winning formula. Of course Ms Minogue, now implausibly 50, ran through the different stages in her career. The outfits changed too and in the course of a wide-ranging setlist, we got post-Neighbours girly outfit Kylie, and even experimental Kylie. The latter popped up in the famous early ‘90s murder ballad « Where the Wild Roses Grow », originally performed with fellow Australian rock star Nick Cave. Even without him, it chilled the auditorium as she propped up the bar in serious rhinestone decorated boots. To the disappointment of some, there was no hotpants Kylie but we got music from the era, including arguably her most famous no 1 (and she’s had 7 while selling over 10 million singles in the UK) « Can’t Get You Outta My Head ».

The GOLDEN tour
On the road with En:
(European and Irish leg)
Oh dear, how do I even start… You all follow Kylie on Instagram and other social medias, so you all already know what happened earlier - the most amazing thing ever. I was invited backstage with a full AAA photographic pass to work at a couple of the Golden tour concerts and snap the most of them on my tiny little lomo cam. Words will never be able to explain how f a b u l o u s it all was, and as promised, I am going to talk about it a little. Don’t get too excited - I’m not spilling much tea, but I will tell you what it feels like when dreams come true. In fact, I will do a little comparison between working at a Kylie show and losing your shit in the front row, but let’s save that bit for later. So, to kick off the European tour diaries, imagine yourself in my exact situation: you dream your whole life about creatively working for Kylie. Like, literally… when I purchased my first iPhone and created my account, one of the security questions was “What’s your dreamed job?” and I answered “William Baker” - if that doesn’t sum it up I don’t know what could. By the way, I only remember this because I recently blocked my apple ID and spent a good hour on the phone with their support service and they pointed it out - lol. Anyway, back to the topic… so yes, your dream comes true, pretty much out of the blue. You never ever allow your clients to see your non-edited pictures, and when shooting film, you obviously not let them get the film processed and have a look at the outcome before you get the chance. Of course, when there’s the one time you make an exception, it’s for your idol… so yeah, you spent two weeks in a proper photographic anxiety panic, absolutely out of your mind, because once your creative brain starts hating you, that’s that. Then they finally get to you, you get to look at them and it hits you. Let me tell you, first hour of editing, I was taking crying breaks… Once that’s done, it’s time to pack for another show - as a fan. After all this.
I knew I was gonna be a mess. I was SO excited, in fact, I don’t think I had been this excited for a Kylie show in years. It had me counting down the hours. My co-workers banned me from talking about it about three days prior to my departure and so I just kept on repeating “It’s FRIDAY, it’s FRIDAYYYYYYY” the last day I was at work (which was actually wednesday). I took an overnight coach and arrived in the city at 5am in the morning, supplied my body with a significant amount of caffeine and pretty much just started to queue. My friend Ilse arrived about an hour after me and Laeti shortly after, and that’s about when it felt like we stopped queuing… We started running away to warm up in the hotel lobby where we were not even staying, random shops, and then at one point we went to get cash out... We needed to beak a fifty euro note, and so we walked into this random bar agreeing we would have a glass of wine each, you know, just because we HAD to get something… They figured we were Kylie fans and also the only customers in there at that moment, and so they started blasting Kylie’s hits for us. What a way to queue! More and more friends started joining us later that afternoon, including Mathias, who brought in a bottle of Cava. We even got the non-drinker Laeti to have a glass (well, a plastic cup) of that - that’s how much of a good day it was! Little did we know that Mathias actually had another bottle that he accidentally brought inside the waiting room for early entry ticket holders. I mean, what kind of security check was that? He obviously couldn’t have opened it there, and so he walked out with it to give it to me and Ilse who had regular tickets for this show. I wish I could describe the faces of everyone around when he took it out of his bag, walked out with it and passed it to us through the opened door, right where the security was stood up. Lol. And so me and Ilse and a couple of other people popped another bottle… Then we quickly ran away for another glass of wine. By the time we were getting in, we were slightly intoxicated, but to be fair, it was more of the actual excitement built up than the alcohol. Once we got in - second row in the middle, behind our friends, we immediately became loved by the people behind us who were probably way drunker than we could dream of, and hated by the quiet ones (ooops…). And oh well, it was minutes before Kylie would walk on the stage when I started crying. I don’t even know what was the thing that triggered it, but as I said, I KNEW I was gonna be a mess, I KNEW I was gonna cry a lot, I KNEW I was gonna go absolutely crazy and I was looking forward to it. I don’t even know how to explain it by words, I’m just going to have to hope that you’ll get me. I mean, it WAS my biggest dream coming true and being
back felt like looking back at it all and just whoah…. And as for the actual show, I can’t say much, I barely saw any of it though all the tears - lol. At the end of it, I had absolutely no voice, energy or brain capacity for existing left - I was so excited to jump onto our coach to Paris and just sleep. On the way out, we bumped into Tom Eerebout and I was literally like “OMG I fucking LOVE your work, that’s all I wanted to say, baiiiiiii“… my voice came out as some broken scream so he probably thought I must have been a complete freak, but well worth it. Another lol. And the biggest lol was still yet to come. They cancelled our coach. Yet again we ran into a lobby of a hotel we were not staying in, trying to sort out the situation, but luckily they automatically sent us tickets for another bus. Only that one wouldn’t go for next hours… And so we sat there ordering more and more coca cola till the time came, and then we just passed out in the bus and woke up in Paris. We headed right to Laeti’s place to sleep some more. In fact, we slept until it was time to get ready for the show in Paris. No queueing that day for us, no energy or willpower for that. Somehow we ended up in the front row anyway. Not your typical front row, but a front row! The stage was really wide there and the sides of it were accessible for the audience as well, and since it was a bit far from the centre of the stage, everyone seemed to be avoiding it but the view was actually pretty good and so we went for it. Our friend and “co-worker” from Kylie World joined us and we had a GREAT time all together, screaming on the top of our lungs (or whatever some of us had left of them), and we of course all jumped into the glitter at the end of the show. It was really enjoyable, but compared to my emotional rollercoaster the day before, it was very plain. I don’t think any show will ever be as emotional as Brussels for me, ever. I literally got everything out of me there and as it seemed after this one in Paris, I was ready to fully enjoy all the others on a very calm note. Zurich was, of course, the day right after. In other words, we ran into bed after the Parisien show, got our two or three hours of sleep and jumped onto the first morning train. We got into Switzerland at twelwish, and by that time it was too early to check into our hotel - so we went to check into the queue first. Queue is actually a very strong word - it consisted of exactly four people, including us. That is one thing to note - no one ever queues in Zurich. Should have slept for a bit longer and taken the next train, huh? It went the day go by fast though - and thank god for that, because it was a pretty boring one. Once we were able to check in, we went, got food on the way (18 euros for a sandwich……………), and slowly made our way back, and by that time it was nearly time to check into the early entry queue and get inside the waiting room.
For once I had the opportunity to get warm and be inside for an extra hour, which is something I had dreamt about all these times I didn’t have early entry… But a plot twist: my friend Chezzy, who was on a spontaneous Kylie-work trip that day, messaged me saying he’s outside with booze. A good friend wouldn’t let him drink all that alone, right? And I’m a good friend… Funny how before the second London show, I said I had never been even tipsy for a Kylie concert and at this point I had trouble staying sober. YOLO… We got front row right side of the stage spots, and we absolutely loved it (they also had really good quinoa burgers in there - that made everything even better). I was really exhausted but once Kylie walked on stage, it was all gone. Kylie’s bodyguard had our back when an annoying guy next to us was trying to fight, and the whole atmosphere was just great. At the end of it, me, Laeti and Chezzy went out for a little bit… Trying to get cash out was a challenge as well as the currency was so strange. “How much did you get?” “I have no idea but I hope it’ll pay for a whiskey”. My flight back to London was at 10am the next morning. When I got home, I slept and slept and slept and slept... I was exhausted, but ready for another part of the tour in about two weeks, which was meant to be even better.
It was even better. In fact, Amsterdam might have been one of the best days of my life, despite the slight hangover I had… So yes, we got shitfaced again, this time me, Laura and Ilse. Ilse lives in Netherlands and me and Laura flew over the night before and crushed over her place (you can’t blame us, she’s got three cats that we really wanted to hang out with). She is that kind of a friend that picks you up from the airport and has a bottle of wine ready for you at the passenger’s seat… It didn’t end with just one, obviously. In fact, from what I remember, we were all lying in bed with the third opened bottle at crazy o’clock in the morning, causing we barely got any sleep again. We somehow managed to wake up early and yet again start the queue. We did have to make a stop on the way because Laura was sick and all of us needed a big can of red bull. Not everyone was having such a great time, though. Laeti’s morning flight took off as usual, got half the way from Paris to Amsterdam and then turned it around and flew back to Paris for technical issues. She had to wait hours for another… I mean, what are the chances? Anyway she did make it alive at the end, just forever later. Anyway, let’s get back to why that turned out to be one of the best days of my life. I was shooting the show again - and this time, it was just <3 After the show, we went to something that was meant to be an afterparty, but it was pretty confusing. It was a different floor of the venue where a live band was playing everything but Kylie, and each person with an early entry ticket was given a card with “tokens” for a free drink. Pretty fab. It didn’t last long though, and so all of us, a group of at least ten people, headed over to the bar next to our hotel. That place was to shut down soon as well, and so the strongest ones followed us to our hotel’s bar, where we continued for a bit longer and where the weirdest stuff was happening, such as a random german girl coming to me and trying to kiss me… I mean, what?? After that one, we really wrapped it up. I woke up in the middle of the night, dying for something to drink, and the nearest and ONLY thing around me was hours long beer… That sums up this whole trip. I kept on waking up every three seconds, and it turned out that Ilse did as well, and so we agreed to just stop trying to sleep when it would obviously not work out and walk into the breakfast the minute it opened. I was still wearing my crew top, looking absolutely disgusting, and Ilse didn’t even bother putting her shoes on. We sat there for hours, not even eating anything, drinking litres of juice and being tragic, and all the people from the previous night were passing by and stopping for a quick chat, and it turned out to be such a funny morning. Its whole highlight was Laeti being so tired and done with life, she thought her cup of water was apple juice and complained about it tasting “just like water“… When we somehow fully woke up from the breakfasts agony, put out make up on and just humaned up, we threw all of our stuff into Ilse’s car and headed off to the airport with literally the passports in our bum bags only. We were supposed to be in Copenhagen for about 9 hours only, anyway… The show was seated and we had the third row. The tickets were two hundred euros, but we knew it was gonna be so worth it. We landed, took a bus to the middle of the city and then walked for about half an hour pretending we were doing some sightseeing… We didn’t really get that much of the actual cities this tour. At all, actually… When we got at the place, we were left in shock. Our third row tickets were not actual third row, just a row called “3” that was actually the 10th row, somewhere in the middle. For two houndred euros. “Hot seats” as they said… Let me tell you, there was absolutely nothing hot about them. They were the same like all the ones around us, and what’s worse - majority of the ones in front of us were for about seventy euros. What made our hot seats the hot seats,
I really don’t understand, all I can think is that VIP Nation fucked up big time. It was not the only let down of the day, though. The people were, as well… A guy next to me spent his entire time on Facebook and only got up and looked at what was going on the stage during Can’t Get You Out Of My Head. That was the better case: a woman seated next to Laeti was starting a fight with her for being too loud and too into the show. I didn’t really give a single fuck if you want me to be honest, I was making maximum out of the tragic situation and during some songs, I was the only one standing up or dancing. Not to mention Slow which felt like a duet in between me and Kylie (one of us was singing beautifully and the other sounded like what a front sounds when they‘re getting murdered - I will let you guess which one was which). I mean come on people, she literally says “Will you sing it for me?” TWICE, so why won’t you just sing it for her? :) The atmosphere picked up a lot in the second half, but you could still tell that 90% of the people were there to be able to say hey I saw the La La La girl… When the show finished, we sprinted out of there to get a cab and get to the bus station FAST. We did make a quick stop in our rushing when we bumped into the opening act DJs and requested certain songs that were added to the playlist in Hamburg and kept for the Irish shows as well (aren’t they FAB!!). Right after our short conversation, we seriously ran out, jumped into the car, got to the station and to our biggest surprise and delight, we realised we had about twenty minutes left to our departure. I continued my race with myself and ran into the nearest store to buy water… And then we were off to Hamburg.
We arrived at about 6am and went straight into the hotel where we were meant to stay, and asked for an EEEEEEARLY checking. Obviously it wasn’t possible, at all, and so we just crushed at the lobby and waited for our friends Ilse and Anita to get there… And then we stayed in their car for the entire day. All we dreamt about was a nap, but once we all met up the mood was up and the energy was flowing, and so none of us actually fell asleep. What we did though, was parking in front of the venue and right by the queue. We were the first ones in there. The original plan was to stay in till the first person would come, but later on we realised there was absolutely no point in leaving the car, and so we just queued in. Funniest. day. ever. We drank wine from our Early entry mugs, sang Radio On while literally rolling the windows down and just had the best time. By the way, we did spare all of our yoga mats and gloves and blankets and everything warm we had with the people queuing outside, we are not that cruel :). We got so lazy over the day, we literally only left the car when absolutely necessary. We went for the left side of the stage this time, and it was fabulous to be all together. I said I wasn’t gonna get emotional at any point after the Brussels show, but I did when Laeti got the rose. <3 Kylie was terribly sick, she said so herself at the beginning and apologized for possibly not sounding her best. We can’t even blame her because the scheduling of the tour was very intense, so there was no surprise there yet still, it was one of the best shows of the entire tour for me. Irony, isn’t it? But for real… I don’t think I had seen Kylie be so “herself” since the Anti-Tour. It felt like she gave in, wasn’t trying to deny the fact that she was feeling so bad, and somehow enjoyed herself despite all that. She even cried at the end… As you’d expect, we all went to get drinks after that. We sang Kylie songs all together and enjoyed the last moments (the rest of the bar was totally judging us :)). It was, after all the last show… Or at least I thought so. Little did I know I was going to end up in Belfast. I don’t even know what to say about that one. My fifteenth show on this tour, WHAT EVEN. I am out of control and I myself declare me crazy. Lol. It was a super super super last minute trip, and a fun closure to the tour. I nearly got killed at work the day after because my flight was delayed and I was running late, two hours, in fact… but oh well. YOLO.
And now, are we all robbing the bank and flying to Australia?
Kylie world on the road:
Frankfurt with Laeti
For this show, I went alone, Nicole could not take a day off or find a flight that would get her back to work on time. I really wanted to do it because this concert was ideal for me: on a Sunday (no day off work to ask) and Frankfurt is not too far away from Paris so it made it easy for me to arrive on time at work on Monday morning. I booked everything, the train and the hotel and I chose a spot not far from the station because I had to leave at 5am to take my train. And of course, you know us now, not everything went as planned. On Friday, two days before my arrival in Frankfurt, I receive an email in a not really good English and I understood that my hotel is moved. Moved how ? You are going to tell me... Well, I apparently booked a night on a cruise ship (lol, probably because it was cheaper), and there was a bomb threat in the harbor and it forced the boat to be moved to check the place... It started well. I arrived in Frankfurt at 1pm on the day of the show, since I was alone and with Early Entry ticket, I did not want to go to the concert hall too early - I only knew a few people who would be at this show and I did not want to wait in the cold, we did it enough on this tour. The hotel having changed of location and being now 5 kilometers away from the station, a shuttle service had been set up: I had to send a message 20 minutes before I arrived and they came to pick me up. This service was incredibly useful and saved me a lot of times - I basically had a personal driver for free. I arrived at the arena around 4.30pm. Well, to be specific, arena is a big word - it was totally in the middle of nowhere - and I was very surprised to see that there were only about ten people at the spot. To my delight, I was 5th in the EE queue - this number has also followed the entire tour. I saw Nicole (the other Nicole, not En), met Maria and some other fans, including Jonathan, Isa and Olivier, French who had been there since the morning. We had already met briefly at the Café de la Danse in March when Kylie presented her album « Golden » and it was great to be able to spend some time with them especially since we speak the same language, which makes things easier. They showed me what was around the venue and that’s how we bumped into the dancers of Kylie and Sean and we were able to say hello to them. We waited in the cold (and it was REALLY cold) to get our passes and bags that we could leave in a locker room during the time of the concert. At 6:30pm, Sally came to pick us up to get us into the arena. Sally was an angel - her professionalism throughout the tour and respecting numbers on our hands we put on in the queue - just wow!. Most of the EE arrived at the last moment,
but we all ended up at the front row. I tried to keep some space for Isa, Jonathan and Olivier, but only Jonathan managed to be next to me, Isa and Olivier were two places away - but at the front row anyway. The venue was super small and I was really surprised: the pit was only 10 rows standing, everything else was in seating. Nevertheless, the atmosphere during the concert was there. Kylie was amazing and really gave it all, Frankfurt is to this day one of my favorite shows on this tour. She really enjoyed herself and the audience followed her and sang with her. During Slow , I face-timed Nicole so she can see this song live. Of course, no one sang Yeaaaah Slooooow and if you know us, you know that we ruin all the concerts with that. The arena was so quiet at that moment (and Nicole was so into the song) that the whole audience could hear us both. It was pretty funny! I had the fan in the face the whole evening, I complained at first cause I was afraid I would take a sore throat, but when it turned out I realized it was really useful ! I do not even talk about the number of confetti I ate, a record. But I never felt as alive as in that moment. At the end of the concert, and at the end of each concert, we tried to collect some dollars that had fallen between the stage and the pit. Those dear idiots of security screamed at us saying NO, before another one took them to give it to someone else. LOVE. I left the venue with Isa, Olivier and Jonathan, and after rolling in some glitter and probably a lot of beer, we went to the bar for a drink and a little chat. They then suggested very nicely to take me back to my hotel and therefore to make a detour. We played Kylie’s album in the car and we remembered that we saw posters arriving at the concert hall: an idea came to us: to get three posters, one for each of us. Isa who is doing sewing wanted to use her material, which worked: we ended up breaking her scissors and taking the posters off with our hands. It was so funny to stop, get out of the car running and cut posters in the night! Once I arrived at the hotel (well at the boat), the poster under the arm, I could not fall asleep right away, I looked at all the photos and videos that I had made. It was really a great concert. I put my alarm and slept 3 hours, to wake up at 5am to take my train. And you have to know that I looked very ridiculous with my Kylie poster under my arm in the taxi, the train, or even at the office... But it was well worth it and we had a blast!
PS: The night on the boat was great anyway, the cabin was amazing and thank you to Isa, Olivier and Jonathan for making this day as fabulous!
What we HATED about the Golden tour Obviously, we LOOOOOVED this tour, probably more than any other, Kylie seemed to be the most relaxed on stage since…maybe the Anti tour? And everything about it was great, but nothing can be perfect and so we thought we’d highlight the things we hated as well.
The ticket mess It wasn’t the first time getting Kylie tickets turned out into something like a third world war, in fact, this year was all like that… It started with Golden presents tour that magically got sold out a minute before the sale even started, but little did we know what was about to come… Day before the sale started, the prices went up. Until the Kylie-sale eve, the amount doubled. Early entry tickets, that were meant to have access into Golden circle, were just a few more pounds more expensive than the actual Gold circle, and the Gold circle’s price increased by nearly 100% from Kiss Me Once, the previous tour. During the afternoon of the first day of sale, after all the hard die fans had already purchased their tickets, the description of the packages changed - Early entry were no longer in the Gold circle, they were out of it and according to several arena’s map, the stage was meant to look very similar as Les Folies tour one. This way, the Golden circle could be compared to the splash zone, Early Entry tickets would have access to the front row of the catwalk and general access ticket holders behind them. The crazy amounts of furious fans started calling Ticketmaster and Live Nation and many of them actually managed to get their tickets swapped for the ones they actually wanted, since it was them who caused the mess at first place, and for a bit everything seemed to be OK. Yet again, we still didn’t know what was about to come… The stage layout started changing at different arena websites. Each map now looked different, and so we ended up having no clue what type of tickets we actually bought, at least until the first show in Newcastle. Funnily enough, not even the staff of the venue there knew about the sections and so we stood there for a good hour listening to everyone yelling that if we had VIP tickets, we’d need to get into another queue, but no one actually knew what VIP tickets were… We finally got to know what the stage looked like when we walked in - and we felt truly heartbroken for all the fans with Early Entry tickets who paid crazy amount of money to be front row, and ended up being meters far from the end of the B stage. 56 www.kylie-world.com
En, December 2K18
As the shows were going by, the mess was even worse. For example London gave out the same wristbands to people with Early and Golden circle - if it wasn’t for the fans who travel to multiple shows who pretty much argued their way through, the Early Entry ticket holders would take the whole of Golden circle front row before the actual Golden Circle would even get in. And biggest joke was when they started upgrading Early Entry to Golden circle minutes after the door got opened - meaning that they paid about the same amount of money, got a goodie bag and got in even in front of Golden circle ticket holders. Mess, mess, mess, mess, MESS… The most annoying part was when two of our friends purchased Early Entry tickets because Golden Circle tickets were not advertised on the website, later they couldn’t swap them and so they emailed VIP Nation asking if they’d upgrade people (like they had been doing at each show), and were advised to buy Golden circle as well if they really wanted to be there. So they did (paid about 180 pounds extra) and ended up standing in the Golden circle next to an Early Entry guy who, as you’d guess, got upgraded at literally the same time they were let in. I am fully aware that this whole mess isn’t on Kylie’s team, but on VIP Nation, but it causes a lot of stress (and in many cases money) of us fans and leaves Kylie’s name with not the best reputation… Get it together VIP Nation.
The tour book (and the merch) I wasn’t even going to mention this originally, but over the months I got tons and tons of people coming up to me and complaining, so I realised I am not alone and it definitely deserves a notice in here. The tour book. The pictures are on point, Kylie looks gorgeous, styling is flawless… But that’s about it. The tour itself is so detail-oriented, while its tour book looks like it was composed of great pictures that were randomly thrown into a layout, 5 minutes before it got sent into the print. Sad. And same applies to the whole of merch…
The social media activity And last but not least, the problem that probably bothered us all the most - the tweets, retweets, backstage selfies, funny videos that did not happen… I heard people in the queues saying “the kylieminogue account posted,” not “Kylie posted” and that I’d say describes it all. I didn’t personally realise it would, but it seemed to have influenced the whole mood of the queues and the fanbase… Less people would dress up because what was the point since “she wouldn’t see it,” less people would make funny signs or fan projects because they wouldn’t get a like on Instagram from her anyway… This kind of feedback and fan engagement we all lacked - thanks to that it didn’t even fully feel like Kylie was on the road. It seems to me that the tour was so crazily detail oriented (as i’ve already said above), but the details weren’t promoted enough, which left many of them unnoticed, and that is such a pity… And the cherry on the top is the disaster that Kylie’s social medias activity is, were, of course, her tragic, non-centred, over-saturated and blurry posts… I personally tried my best to ignore this whole matter as I am (as you’ve probably realised already) a bit obsessed with pictures, but then yet again I couldn’t not mention it thanks to the messages I got from other lovers… I had fan pages asking me daily for pictures from each concert I went to as they “couldn’t repost hers because they were so bad,” and that, again, says it all. 57 www.kylie-world.com

A little bit about En‘s AAA experience... So, let’s just say it all started with my 35mm pictures and one phone call. Everything went down pretty quickly after that… I was invited to do my lomography thing at a couple of concerts, both backstage before the show would start and then photograph the actual concert. Obviously, it has always been (a part) of my biggest dream, and so the few people who knew freaked out BIG TIME for me. In fact, way more than I did myself. I was losing my head too, but not fangirl-wise. What bothered me was the fact that everything was so last minute, I had absolutely no time to get ready the way I would want to - camera wise, film wise. Never would I ever go on a pro-film shoot without a backup camera, but it all started with my old school lomo that has been years out of distribution, small enough to pass the security checks at the venues. It had never let me down, but somehow I knew that was exactly what would happen if I had just ONE at a Kylie show when on the other side of the barrier, and I had absolutely zero time to get a back up. Same for the films, the ones I’d usually go for were sold out so I had to improvise a little. Ugh. So while my friends and fellow Kylie fans were fangirling over me being invited to do such a thing, my brain was on fire trying to figure out everything I had to photo-wise and didn’t even have time to process the fact that I would ACTUALLY be backstage at a Kylie show. So no, I wasn’t nervous, nor panicking, nor fangirling. Quite the opposite, actually. Thinking about it back, it’s actually interesting to see how my brain automatically switched to this mood from the crazy-lover one. When I walked through the soundcheck to have my first look at what the stage was like that night, my only thoughts were “Wow, the main one is high, ok, this will be a good angle, fine it will not be possible to get this and this in one shot as this and that will be too deep in the stage and I won’t be able to see, blah blah…”. If you asked me what Kylie was wearing there, I wouldn’t even know… I did enjoy my little “fan tour” though - Kylie’s team was fab enough to answer all of my questions and take me wherever I wanted, and showed me literally everything I wanted to see, including everything under the stage… Let me tell you, experience like no other. First twenty minutes of the show, I realised how unprepared I actually was. When shooting film (on ONE cam) without an assistance, you have to think twenty minutes in advance at least. First few shots of a new roll are not certain to come out and same for the last few, and there was plenty of moments I really wanted to capture, and these moments I had to be absolutely sure I wasn’t in any of these uncertain frames, yet at the same time, if there was another moment I needed to take a pic of to follow, I had to be sure to have enough frames left for that, and then also find the time for rewinding and re-loading, which is no fun in the complete dark either, especially with an old and very non-perfect camera. Sometimes the film gets ripped if you rush it too much, sometimes it gets stuck… Oh, and another thing: the stage was so high I didn’t actually see what I was taking pics of. Fun, right? As both photographer and lomographer, I always thought lomography was the easy peasy fun one because it doesn’t require you to think - you basically just snap. Photography, on the other hand, has you managing lenses and aperture and time and iso and priorities and composition all at the same time... That’s why photographers judge lomographers quite a lot (myself included sometimes). But then, as a photographer, you can just snap on a better lens and you’re good to go. While I was out there jumping up to see how deep Kylie was into the main stage, trying to figure out if I would even manage to fit her into a pic… Obviously, I loved it anyway. And I mean LOVED it - it felt like something I was always meant to do. Once I found my flow and got into it a bit more, I had an absolute blast... At least until the moment when my camera 60 www.kylie-world.com

broke down at the next show, basically in the middle of it. H U H. I knew it was gonna happen… That was about the worst moment of my life. So yes, I stayed very calm during this whole experience, but once I started working my way with the pictures, I bursted out in tears and couldn’t stop for long. And then I cried my way through in Brussels, as I’ve already mentioned… For the next show I got invited to, I made sure I was going to be as ready as possible. I got a new cam (the same one that let me down the previous show had to get it shipped from Japan, lol), back up cam, correct films, little light for changing the rolls in the dark, and a 5 pages long list of notes I’d need for the show. I did go through another 2 little heart attacks: first one when I saw the stage and it was SO HIGH again, even though I was requesting to shoot a show that would have a low one this time (and literally every single other show in Europe did except for this one, that was picked as the most “pic friendly” one by the production team), and second heart attack came when my camera strap opened and the plastic lomo with an external flash fell on the ground from a good meter and a half, and broke down into pieces, but the heavens must have had my back because once I put the pieces back together, it worked as if nothing happened. That is just me, though… Blonde, stupid and clumsy forever. Anyway, once I overcame this little disaster, I experienced the best two hours of my entire life and I don’t even think I’m being overdramatic. It could have been a bit better, if the stage was lower and I actually saw what I was taking pictures of (yep, I’m still not over it, excuse me), but even without that, it was pure bliss. And the outcome has me way happier this time as well - excited for you to see! 61 www.kylie-world.com

FREE BEER FOR ALL IN irEland !
t was Kylie’s gift to us after canceling the Dublin and Belfast concerts. Each person with a ticket to see the singer in Dublin or Belfast was offered the entrance to the Guinness House museum and a free beer. A great opportunity to enjoy the city and celebrate the concert and the rescheduling shows - and Kylie even went herself !
KYLIE WANTS TO BE A spice girl !
K
ylie posted a photo of her wearing a sweater that says « I Wanna Be A Spice Girl », created by the band. It’s not just a marketing thing, the Spice Girls decided to sell these (t-shirts also) for a good cause! They went on sale to support gender equality and women’s rights. Research confirms that, although there has been progress, women and girls are still significantly more at risk of violence, earn less, have fewer options about the jobs they do, and are less likely to be making the big decisions about how our country works. Unfortunately the campaign is over now and you can not get this merch anymore, but we notice this great action and we are glad to see that Kylie is participating in the communication campaign.

A NEW CASSETTE FOR CHRISTMAS
fter the cassette, the autographed cassette, the special cassette for the tour, here is now a new collector cassette: « Christmas Collector » ! Available on Kylie’s website, this new version is sold for 12 euros and is limited. Unlike the previous edition, the exact number of copies is not known and the tape is still on sale if you have not bought it yet. You can find the twelve tracks of the album inside, it’s a totally silver version with the same package as the golden version and an AAA pass giving access to an exclusive message of the singer for Christmas. If you do not have the cassette or have not received it yet, Kylie’s message is available on our social networks: it is a little video of about ten seconds in which she wishes us happy holidays and thank us for the support on « Golden ». Another version of « Music’s Too Sad Without You » is also available as a bonus track.

A GOLDEN YEAR ON Spotify
s every year, Spotify allows everyone to see which artist and which song they have listened to the most, and the same goes for artists. Thus, Kylie has been streamed 143 million times this year, which represents 7 million hours, has more than 19 million fans and is heard in 65 countries. On this occasion, the playlist of the singer was created again on the streaming platform to also coincide with the holiday season. We thus find the greatest classics of Kylie with Christmas tracks such as « Santa Baby », « It’s The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year » or « Christmas Wrapping ». The song with Sigala, « What You Waiting For » is also added to this playlist, what to put the atmosphere during your meals with the family!

LOVE MADE ME DO IT
W
e did not mention it last month, we catch up this month! For those who do not know it, Cheryl Cole’s new single « Love Made Me Do It » was written by Kylie and should have been featured on her own album. Unfortunately, it was not selected and was picked up by Cheryl Cole as probably the first single of a new album. And if you want to know more about the lyrics of this track, the singer talks about her previous relationships that have not worked and about the fact that she falls in love very easily. We let you listen to the song on the streaming platforms and tell us what you think about it and if you think it would have been cool if Kylie kept this track to sing it !
ountry Club Martini Crew, official remixer for Katy Perry, Janet Jackson, Jennifer Lopez or Demi Lovato posted a photo on Instagram on December 13th with an audio production software and as caption: « When In London »... In hashtags we can find #kylieminogue and #golden. A few days later, the remix was posted on social networks and it is the song « Lost Without You » in a much more rhythmic version, a good opportunity to play this track on your New Year’s party!
A NEW remix !
K
ylie was scheduled to perform at the Magic FM Christmas concert on November 25th, alongside Boyzone. Unfortunately, the singer had to cancel it after a new throat infection (the third one this year). Kylie played six concerts in seven days and unfortunately her voice did not follow, between shows, the cold outside and being tired. The night before in Hamburg, the singer hardly finished the concert to not disappoint anyone and also apologized on stage for not being at her maximum at the vocal level, even crying at the end of the concert. Kylie took care of herself and did the last two concerts of her tour which had already been postponed for the same reasons, in Dublin and Belfast. 107 www.kylie-world.com

KYLIE SUMMER NEW DATES !
fter announcing several concerts this summer in different cities in England and Europe, new dates are added to the many shows already scheduled. This will include a second concert at the Eden Project on July 3rd and the addition of the Lytham Festival near Manchester on July 12th. As we told you, according to several rumors more than 20 dates in total are planned and the first names in the headlining festivals are only beginning to be revealed ... By the way, Steve Anderson has confirmed to several fans that the concerts of this summer will be different from the « Golden Tour » and that we should therefore have a change of setlist and costumes! It remains to be seen whether the spirit of this tour will remain as it was for the « Kiss Me Once Tour » during the « Kylie Summer ».

The tickets are already on sale but beware, these concerts are not like in Europe or England in the sense that all the tickets are sitting. Laeti, December 2K18
Live Performances • December 2018
O
n November 24th, an episode of Michael McIntyre’s Big Show was broadcasted on the BBC One and Kylie took part of it. For those who are not in England and don’t know this show, this is a tv series presented by comedian Michael MyIntyre which brings different artists together with comedy sketches and musical performances, all at the Theater Royal Drury Lane in London. The audience at the recording of the show is also involved into various sketches, such as Alison and Carl who went to the karaoke a few time ago and sang « Especially For You ». They were filmed by the production without knowing it and it is at this moment that Kylie enters on stage and that they explain that the singer will sing « Especially For You » as a duet with them, with the filmed scenes at the karaoke... Fabulous ! Other people were trapped in the same place, including Darien. This fan chose to sing « Can’t Get You Out Of My Head » and that’s… How to say it... Well, let’s say that if you listen to Darien’s version, it is not 100% guaranteed that you will actually recognize the song! But it’s worth it, he was able to hug the singer and do the choreography with her on stage! What a way to give hope to all of those who can’t sing, such as us (we also have a problem with rhythm to dance but oh well…). And we continue with two adorable gentlemen, Mark and David, who performed « Spinning Around »... At the end, there is only one of them who sang the track totally out of the rhythm and in a depressed version while the other left him on stage... What a great friend ! And we end with the super energetic Tracy who danced like crazy to « Love At First Sight »... which totally prevented her from singing, she was only able to catch the breath and sing out about one word out of 10! Kylie confessed to being a little similar at the end of her concerts and gave her the advice to breathe! (Thanks Kylie). Tracy then went on stage to dance while Kylie finished the song.
MICHAEL MCINTYRE’S BIG SHOW - NOVEMBER 24TH UK Kylie went back on stage with Jack Savoretti later to sing their own single, « Music’s Too Sad Without You ». No major change to note compared to the previous performance at Jonathan Ross’ show, the configuration of the stage being the same, with as always - Jake on the guitar and the two artists on the high chairs. 110 www.kylie-world.com

It’s late, I know. But when I’m on tour, my only focus during those days is to recover before the next evening show. I wake up in silence or I turn on the TV really low, just to keep up with the news. I try to have a healthy breakfast like avocado toast, grilled toast with almond butter - much lighter than peanut butter - with poached eggs. And tons of coffee!

If we don’t arrive too late, I take the time to exercise and to do some stretching. But I spend so much energy on stage that I prefer to save my strength. At the beginning of the tour, I sometimes went to the hotel to have a 20-minute sleep, but today my body is used to this crazy pace so I don’t need a nap anymore.
6:00 pm
It’s time to get familiar with the concert venue. We test the acoustics, we do the voice tests, the scales... Once the technical details are all set, comes the moment when I need to refocus on myself in my dressing room. I’m always a bit tense; I have a knot in my stomach before I go on stage. And I always say to myself « People paid for their ticket, they organized their evening, some even hired a babysitter for their children or drove from far away, just to come and see you ». I have to make sure I’m good!

Crazy time! Before launching myself in the arena for almost three hours of
madness, I concentrate. My whole mind focuses on the choreographies and the songs. To cool down I use ice cubes that I rub in my neck and on my face. I am very happy to come to Paris. I love this city with its multitude of exhibitions to see and restaurants to discover. I chose to perform at La Seine Musicale, a more intimate venue than the AccorHotels Arena where I sang in 2014. I still love the beautiful extravagant costumes and the « american » staging but I want to be myself on stage now and not play a character or only be doing a performance. For example, I keep the necklace with small pendants that I wear every single day; it’s my « lucky charm ». Do you say « grigri » in French?

What do I do after a concert? Well, nothing crazy. I go back to my hotel, my team and I get together, and the pressure goes down. After a nice hot shower, I lay on my bed. Far away from the paparazzis and the media, it’s actually the nicest aspect of this job to be honest!
