Hiiiiiyyyyyaaaaaa lovers !

Surprise! We were only meant to be back end of September, but considering Kylie has been up to a lot this summer, we are back early with a special summer edition. Between the end of the summer tour, the Brighton Pride, the Magic FM secret gig, the different radio interviews that Kylie gave and all the latest news, we had enough content to make a magazine, so of course, we were up for it (we love challenges here at Kylie World) ! The upcoming year already promises to be busy for our favourite Australian singer, and we hope that this new issue will enable you to forget the difficult return to reality after the holiday season and the summer tour #Kangover. xx Laeti et Isa

#11 - LYTHAM FESTIVAL

show by show

#8 - OPEN’ER FESTIVAL • It was extremely cold for this show so the singer asked a fan in the audience to come up on stage to give him a hug and warm her (what’s more normal than that?). • The mirrors were not present: due to the fact that the singer was doing a performance the next day in Barcelona, the mirrors did not make the way to Poland for logistical issues. Only the big screens were present behind Kylie. She arrived on stage from behind the scene.

#9 - CRUÏLLA FESTIVAL • It was sunny all day in Barcelona but the rain started pouring down a few minutes before Kylie came on stage, during the performance of Years and Years. • The singer gave the rose to Laia, who even went on stage because Kylie could not understand her name and called her up. She got a big hug from her and sang the chorus duet with her. Laila whispered a few words that really moved Kylie to the point of tears - we have no idea what Laila said though, as that was personal, but what we can say is that it was a memorable moment.

#10 - MANCHESTER • Sonic Yootha DJs, who made the opening acts during the « Golden Tour » were invited as opening act for this show. • Kylie was particularly happy during that show and loved playing and interacting with the audience throughout the show. • She took a vinyl from someone in the audience during « I Should Be So Lucky ». • She also took the camera of the person who records the videos for her social networks and filmed the audience (you can see the result in the Manchester video). • Kylie was waving to all the trains that passed right over her and their passengers. • She gave her rose to a little boy she brought on stage to sing « Where The Wild Roses Grow ». • She danced with Shaun Niles during « Kids » by clinging to the neon lights / mirrors that turn at the opening of the concert.

• DJ Ana Matronic and Sophie Ellis-Bextor performed as opening act of the show. • A gentleman translated ALL the concert (Kylie’s words and when she spoke) into sign language. This is the first time we’ve seen this, and it was amazing. Respect for this gentleman and thank you for doing this for the people who need it. • It was very cold and there was a lot of wind, which meant that when the confetti were thrown off, no one in the audience could actually have it cause they flew directly backstage because of the wind. • The « Y » when there are letters that spell Kylie on stage felt down because of the wind. • Kylie gave the rose to a little girl who must have been 5 or 6 years old and was in the front row. • A firework at the end of the concert happened, it was quite short and when you were in the front rows it was impossible to see it because it was behind the tent under which Kylie was singing.

#12 - EDINBURGH CASTLE • The opening act was provided by Nina Nesbitt, a native of Edinburgh. • The mirrors that turned were only 3 instead of 5, the stage was too small to accommodate more. • The concert was totally seated. • Kylie handed the rose to someone in a wheelchair. • No confetti due to the fact that we were in a historic place.

#8 - OPEN’ER FESTIVAL https://muzyka.interia.pl by Daniel Kiełbasa 30 years on stage, a lot of hits, hundreds, even thousands of gigs, and when you look at Kylie Minogue, there’s no sign of burnout. The concert in Gdynia during this year’s Open’er has clearly proved that. Kylie still has this « something » and continues seamlessly connecting generations with her tubes. The Australian pop star, who debuted more than 31 years ago with the single « The Loco-Motion », came to Poland as part of her short « Kylie Summer 2019 » concert tour. The singer promotes her compilation entitled « Step Back In Time: The Definitive Collection », which contains 42 songs of the star. Each of them has had more or less success, each of them had its fans. The singer and her team had to have a very bad headache when they had to compose the setlist. What to throw, what to keep, which track deserves the most to be included? The singer presented a setlist consisting of 18 songs, cuts in four separate acts. In the first act, the artist dressed in a white jumpsuit warmed the audience with hits such as « Love At First Sight » and « I Should Be So Lucky ». A moment later, with the act number two and in a translucent black dress the singer began to dance. However, Kylie’s stage grace remained unchanged as she walked around the stage with grace, talking almost constantly to the fans and enjoying every surprise from them. We could even say that the enthusiasm of the public has been passed onto the star herself. The Polish fans of the Australian singer managed to surprise their idol twice. The first time was when she saw the shirt of one of the fans wearing the inscription « Poland Loves Kylie ». The star showed the t-shirt to the public, then kissed it and sent it back to its owner. « I love you too », she said. The second time, Kylie invited one of the fans on stage, who first kissed the singer, then showed her what he had done on several pages. Minogue glanced at it, gave him a hug and greeted Michael (probably Michal). This one will probably not forget this evening so soon. The meeting with this fan took place during the third part of the concert, when the star - at least in

my humble opinion - presented herself in the sexiest way. The track « Slow » left a great impression to the public and the hit played acoustically during the half of the song « Can’t Get You Out Of My Head » was superb. The star dressed in a red jumpsuit tried to seduce the audience gathered around the stage while having fun. The last act of the concert began with a wedding scene. The singer could show her more romantic side. In preparation for the concert finale, she also sang her oldest hit, « The Loco-Motion ». The Encore of Kylie was made thanks to the first single of her album « Golden » and the tube « Spinning Around ». The 51-year-old Australian bid farewell to fans with a huge amount of white confetti. Minogue achieved the basic goal of this concert without any mistakes - it has made us go back in time and reminded us why millions of people around the world appreciate her. While some people remembered the existence of certain songs when KM was on stage, others may have discovered her songs for the first time thanks to the Open’er. http://trojmiasto.wyborcza.pl By Małgorzata Muraszko It may sound pretty incredible: the pop star who debuted in the 1980s was announced as « co-starred » at one of Poland’s most popular music festivals. Some saw it as a joke, others - as a reason to buy a ticket for the festival, and others wondered how Kylie Minogue’s concert would fit into the fairly modern Gdynia program. And it integrated perfectly. Because those who came especially to see the Australian singer and the young people who « ironically » listened to music from the ‘80s and ‘90s had a lot of fun during her concert. Kylie herself seemed to be at a very good moment in her career - she released an album containing her greatest hits, summarizing her 30-year career, where she feels very comfortable. It was obvious that playing in front of the audience was a lot of fun for her. And the weather did not interfere, which, despite the lack of rain, did not spoil the high temperature. At the very beginning of the show, Kylie showed she had a great distance from herself and her initial work. The

tube series began with « Love at First Sight » and « I Should Be So Lucky », one of the first big hits of her discography, which is the essence of her 80s pop incarnation. « You were not expecting that right ? » Kylie asked the audience, who encouraged them to sing and dance together. As you can guess, for a long time she did not have to, because the audience did everything the singer asked her to do. « I’m very cold ! Oh, the fan with a colorful sweatshirt, come on stage » - she said by inviting a fan into the audience. She took him in his arms, signed the poster and the CD, and let him go saying, « These hugs warmed me ». Minogue’s performance was obviously a perfectly prepared show. The singer and her dancers changed clothes several times, creating an appropriate show, each of the songs having a distinct visualization, and Kylie finally invaded the audience with rainbow confetti and streamers. Her performance was simply a big pop show, filled with the greatest hits sung by thousands of spectators.

#9 - CRUÏLLA FESTIVAL https://elpais.com by Luis Hidalgo Kylie Minogue sang the first song of her concert, « Love At First Sight », and the entire esplanade of the Forum began to dance and sing. At that time, Kylie Minogue had no more competition on the festival stages than the band Cala Vento, which strengthened her audience and confirmed that she was the star of the last night of the festival Cruïlla. We can say that the 23,000 people who attended

the last day of the festival on Saturday were present for her and after the first song, they continued to dance on the song « I Should Be So Lucky », the second track of the concert. Dressed in a white jumpsuit with her blonde hair exposed to the humidity of the night and a mic matched to her clothes, Kylie wanted to show that she still had so much energy and managed to entertain the crowd with a colorful concert that recalled the tingling caused by soft sparkling drinks. They do not feed you, but that’s fun. Kylie Minogue is not in her hour of glory and she must probably defend her position rather than aspire to improve it. The pop has evolved and the dashing air of the seductive blonde has been replaced by more inappropriate attitudes, which are not necessarily made for her. It’s more complicated now for dolls, pretty girls, and Kylie has always had in her that non-provocative side probably from her education that gives her some professional sympathy with a white smile, teeth aligned and a touch of naivete. And that’s what we saw in Cruïlla, a pop figure doing many choreographies, with musicians on removable mobile platforms and a catalogue with the tracks that helped her build her success. It was a concert made to dance, with tubes to make people smile and bring them back to eternal memories: « Get Outta My Way » and « Can’t Get You Out Of My Head » win the gold medal of the night, with the finale and « Dancing » and « Spinning Around »; a concert based on confetti and bright colors on stage, four costume changes with a star accustomed to smile as the hostesses do during the reception of events. At the Forum, she was so happy that she may have hinted that she lacked the

affection of a mass audience she had been able to receive today. This public at Cruïlla with people who are not dressed uniformly following the fashion because they have a budget limited was reinforced on Saturday evening by a significant presence of the gay public, a phenomenal audience to party at concerts, who brought Kylie to the center of a night that was meant for her.

and Kylie preferred not to tell us. Total emotion. In the last act, no ballads, lots of dance: « The loco-motion » (with a « choo-choo, beep-beep » very « Bad girls » by Donna Summer), « All The Lovers », « Dancing » and « Spinning Around » led to a last frenzy between explosions of confetti and two-way love currents.

#10 - MANCHESTER https://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk by Katie Fitzpatrick

https://www.elperiodico.com By Juan Manuel Freire In her recent appearance at Glastonbury, Kylie Minogue was not the headliner, but played in the middle of Sunday afternoon, in the slot known as « Legends ». In Cruïlla, however, she received all the honors of a star (still relevant) and played for a party evening on the biggest stage of the festival. After her intimate visit to the Bikini in March 2018 (800 people in the audience) the singer marks her big comeback, with a number of incredible successes and a greater sense of the show. To get in the mood, we hear Rick Astley’s « Never Gonna Give You Up » in the speakers, another former student of the producers of Stock Aitken Waterman. Far from any kind of remorse, Minogue embraces and celebrates her past: from the beginning of her career with SAW with easily interchangeable choruses that could give sparks of magic and even perfect songs. On Saturday, she sang, with the same voice as three decades ago! Some of them, starting with « I Should Be So Lucky », in which her dancers spelled her name in giant letters, followed by the track « What Do I Have To Do » chained to « Never Too Late ». This step back in time was not chronological. Kylie alternated freely between all eras, establishing links between the (super) pop of the 80s and the cybernetic or neo-disco reinvention of modern times; transformations she has always undertaken with a strange elegance, without launching desperately into different tendances. Divided into thematic and aesthetic acts, the concert had an inspired part of « Berlin » in which Kylie danced on « Je Ne Sais Pas Pourquoi » and « Hand On Your Heart » (her best song of the SAW era) with a lookalike by legendary artist Klaus Nomi, another act marked by clocks, in reference to the desire to step back in time since the release of her last compilation and this summer tour, but it is not here that she has chose to « Step back in time ». She preferred to accelerate « Slow », with the riff of « Fashion » by Bowie, to calm down the rhythm with « Confide In Me », and to sing the futuristic track « Can’t Get You Out Of My Head ». An act, let’s say, « romantic » included more nods to the 80’s (or early 90s): « Especially For You » without Jason Donovan and the medley with « Shocked », « Step Back In Time » and « Better The Devil You Know », as well as the song that convinced Nick Cave to ask Kylie if they could duet with « Where The Wild Roses Grow », whose chorus was sung by the artist last night with a young fan, Laia, invited to go on stage. Laia told Kylie something intimate

After a 32 year career in music, Kylie Minogue’s barnstorming performance at Glastonbury this summer was undeniably a defining moment for the pop princess. The precious moment she surveyed the 100,000-strong crowd at Worthy Farm as she made her entrance has been immortalised as a gif and she went on to show us exactly why she’s always been so well-loved since her days playing tomboy Charlene in « Neighbours ». She cried as she told how she was meant to play Glastonbury in 2005, but watched from home instead after being diagnosed with breast cancer. Now, here in Manchester, the affection for Kylie is palpable. The honorary Brit has the ultimate feel-good back-catalogue spanning the decades with pop triumphs including « Can’t Get You Out Of My Head », « All The Lovers », « In Your Eyes » and « On A Night Like This » as well as nostalgic 80s gems « The Loco-Motion », « Never Too Late », « Je Ne Sais Pas Pourquoi » and, of course, « I Should Be So Lucky ». « Do you know this one? » she chuckles.

Focus • Kylie Summer 2019 Kylie, who unbelievably is 51, didn’t just get lucky. She’s a grafter, a living icon who’s proven that a sparky soap star from the Stock Aitken and Waterman hit factory was meant to last. « How good do you look? » she compliments nine-yearold Isla held aloft on the shoulders of her mum Cathy Im from Mossley, who had been a fan since she was 11-yearsold. Fans lucky enough to be living opposite the venue crowd onto their balconies to watch and passengers wave from passing trains passing thorough Castlefield give us an enthusiastic wave. « To be fair, we go back a long way don’t we? » said Kylie, taking in all the adoration. She brings out her hot red racing driver outfit from Glastonbury to perform her pulsating « Slow » mash-up with David Bowie’s « Fashion » and the sultry « Confide In Me ». The duet Kids, even without Robbie Williams tonight, is still a super cute rock ditty almost 20 years on, with Robbie’s lines performed by Kylie’s backing singers. The opening bars of Angry Anderson’s « Suddenly » take us right back to the moment we crowded around the telly at teatime 1987 to watch Charlene marry Scott Robinson, before she duets with us all on « Especially For You ». And Kylie picks Jamie from Urmston from the crowd to serenade her fan with another ballad, « Where The Wild Roses Grow ». Multi-coloured glitter rains down as as she brings out the uplifting disco and country tracks « All The Lovers » and « Dancing ». « Can you believe the rain came, it went away and we had a rainbow? » she asks, after waving joyfully at a train passing through Castlefield. With Kylie in town, you definitely can. She says goodbye with another banger, « Spinning Around », mixed with Cheryl Lynn’s « To Be Real » and we all disco dance into the night. « Canal Street is empty tonight », said fan Adam Zane before the show started. And it’s sure to be packed again now and raising a toast.

#11 - LYTHAM FESTIVAL http://www.totalntertainment.com/ Having recently made her return to the UK with an appearance at the 2019 Glastonbury Festival where she wowed fans on the Pyramid Stage, Australian pop princess Kylie Minogue made her way to Lytham where she helped the Lytham Festival celebrate its tenth anniversary with a hit-packed set to an unsurprisingly sold-out crowd. Now, considering this is a hit-packed set that contains material that is almost thirty years old, some of the Lytham crowd can’t even have been born when the pop princess first burst onto the music scene after making her name in hit Australian soap opera « Neighbours ». It wasn’t long as well before the pop princess starting breaking out the hits with « I Should Be So Lucky » making an early appearance in the hit-drenched set. It wasn’t all just about the hits though, with Kylie making a number of costume changes throughout the show as well as throwing in a few covers along the way including « Kids » by Robbie Williams and « Especially For You » by her fellow « Neighbours » and Aussie pop star Jason Donovan. As the hits continued flowing, the crowd needed no excuse to get up on their feet and dancing as « Hand On Your Heart », « Better The Devil You Know », « Locomotion » and more had this Lytham crowd celebrating not only the festival’s anniversary but some of the finest pop of the last thirty years. By the time the celebration had reached Friday, it’s fair to say that this pop legend made sure they continued with a night the town of Lytham and the thousands of fans that poured into it will be remembering for years to come and it will be on the festival is surely going to find difficult to top. Supporting Kylie was British singer/songwriter Sophie Ellis-Bextor who spent an hour warming the crowd up with a set full of dancefloor anthems including her hit « Murder On The Dancefloor » and, by the time her set drew to a close, Ellis-Bextor had certainly made sure the crowd were warmed up for possibly the biggest pop party night Lytham has ever witnessed.

Laeti, Summer 2K19

https://www.blackpoolgazette.co.uk By Shelagh Parkinson Friday night at Lytham Festival has always been party night - so who better to invite along when you’re celebrating your 10th birthday than the princess of pop? With three decades of showstopping hits under her belt, there could be no more ultimate performer than Aussie rocket Kylie to mark this special landmark. Her material ranges from rock to electronica to dance, and be sure the beat and choruses the audience sang along to will be ringing through their heads for days to come. Kicking off with 2002 hit « Love at First Sight » set the tone from the get go - catchy, get up on your feet feel good music. It was followed in rapid succession by her breakthrough hit « I Should Be So Lucky », the song which catapulted her from soap star to international icon, before she launched into « On A Night Like This » (I want to stay forever, which probably everyone did!). It was a bit breezy up on the stage - warm up act Sophie Ellis Bextor had only just retained her modesty in a chiffon micro dress - but Kylie had at least four costume changes to cope with as the wind blew in from the Irish Sea. First up was a white jumpsuit, followed by a glam lace number, a trademark red boiler suit and a pink flowing dress. This was a slick performance, with props ranging from panoramic video backdrops to crazy inflatables flapping across the stage, while a team of energetic dancers syn-

chronised every step with the music blasting from the stage. And all this happening before our eyes on Lytham Green which just a week earlier was home to dog walkers but now was hosting the same setlist more or less with which Kylie entertained the tens of thousands at Glastonbury (without Chris Martin of course!). « Hand On Your Heart » took the crowd back in time to 1989 and Kylie’s Stock, Aitken and Waterman era, with its stripped back sound delivering a throwback to the tunes of their youth for many. By contrast the slightly hypnotic « Confide In Me » brought the tempo down as dusk began to fall over Lytham Green. She also delivered her David Bowie tribute, mixing her hit « Slow » with Bowie’s « Fashion ». « All the Lovers » felt as fresh in 2019 as when it was released in 2010, and its highly produced mix from slow to fast as the song reaches its climax matched the euphoric mood in the arena. Dance heaven was achieved as the show raced on to « Better The Devil You Know » and « Locomotion ». Throughout her show Kylie smiled and laughed with her fans, and one touching moment saw her hand a rose to a little girl at the front of the crowd. The star appeared to enjoy every moment along with the thousands gathered on Lytham front - this was someone enjoying their music not just churning out a back catalogue. There was time for an encore - the disco hit « Spinning Around » before a blast of ticker tape and fireworks heralded the finale of a night which won’t be forgotten in a long time. Earlier Sophie Ellis Bextor had helped build up the excitement with an hour long set culminating in her class chart toppers « Murder on the Dance Floor » and « Take Me Home », while Radio 2 DJ Ana Matronic kicked off proceedings. Next up is Rod Stewart on Saturday.

#12 - EDIMBOURG CASTLE www.thescottishsun.co.uk by Simon Houston POP sensation Kylie was Queen of the Castle on a night to remember in sun-kissed Edinburgh. And the Aussie superstar, 51, was blown away by the sensational setting on one of the hottest days of the year. She even stopped her greatest hits show for a few moments just to take in the breathtaking scene. And she told an adoring crowd: « I’m calling a time out so I can look at your faces before this beautiful sun sets. Wow you’re bathed in it and you all look so beautiful ». To be fair, it was hardly typical weather round these parts. We should be so lucky. The crowd were on their feet from the minute she got things going with classic « Love at First Sight ». And three decades of hits came thick and fast including the breakthrough belter « I Should Be So Lucky », which announced the former soap star to the world as a music icon.

Kylie, who just secured her seventh UK number one album, was in dazzling form on the first of two sell out dates at Edinburgh Castle. Tomorrow night’s second show in the outdoor festival tour was added after the first one sold out in just 15 minutes. Still basking in the afterglow of her spectacular 75-minute segment at Glastonbury’s iconic Pyramid Stage, she looked and sounded phenomenal. And the old Castle rocked and bounced along to « Can’t Get You Out Of My Head » and « Better The Devil You Know ». Five costume changes included a plunging white printed jumpsuit, a glam two tone silver and black lace dress with a see through lower half and a hot racing driver style red boiler suit. She was no doubt inspired by something special that caught her eye in the crowd, when she declared: « Oh I’ve just had my first flash of tartan ». Energetic dancers and striking stage backdrops added some extra glam to a barnstorming night. Fans favourite « Spinning Around » brought the curtain down on a special night and sent her fans spinning off into the warm Edinburgh night. https://www.scotsman.com By David Pollock As if the two-night visit of Australian pop royalty Kylie Minogue to the prestigious surroundings of Edinburgh Castle – this first one bathed in sunshine for the occa-

sion, no less – wasn’t enough, it came on the heels of her appearance in the Sunday afternoon « legends » slot at Glastonbury, a moment reserved only for those with a substantial back catalogue and the ability as a performer to bring it to life. The reasons why she had earned this honour were brought to life once more before us here, through a set as diverse and crowd-pleasing as that of any contemporary arena pop star. Surrounded by an ensemble of dancers, our ageless host cycled through the subtly retooled nostalgic kitsch of « I Should Be So Lucky », « Je Ne Sais Pas Pourquoi » and « Especially for You », the latter jokily reworked as a theme for the synchronised wedding before us, and the finely-aged, house-tinged disco of « Love at First Sight », « On a Night Like This » and « Can’t Get You Out of My Head ». There were gauche diversions for the elder hipsters in the crowd too; not so much the by-the-numbers rock of Kids, but more the appearance of her Klaus Nomi-styled dancer during « Hand On Your Heart »; the techno-infused riff of David Bowie’s « Fashion » underpinning « Slow »; the brief foray into Minogue’s Nick Cave duet « Where the Wild Roses Grow » (without Cave’s presence, unlike Glastonbury, just one acapella verse to serenade a fan in the crowd); and the merging of Grace Jones’ « Bad Girls » with the butter-wouldn’t-melt « The Locomotion ». Given her roots in the purest bubblegum, Stock, Aitken & Waterman chart pop, there might be those who still see Minogue and her music as some sort of nostalgic pop hobbyist’s fascination. On the evidence of both Glastonbury and now Edinburgh, as if her hardcore fans needed it, she remains one of the musical entertainers of her generation, as vibrant and chameleonic a presence as Madonna or Taylor Swift.

#13 - EDIMBOURG CASTLE https://www.heraldscotland.com by Keith Bruce TEAM Kylie knows that a setting like the Castle Esplanade in Scotland’s capital is a gift to acknowledge. With a backdrop second to none, Australia’s ageless pop princess simply popped a perfect proscenium arch theatre show in front. Step back in time? We were TRANSPORTED, darling. If the immaculate, precision staging – presented in four acts, with a costume for each and an inevitable cheeky gold number for the encore – would have sat happily in the Festival Theatre, most of the capacity crowd for her added second night in Edinburgh would have been left outside. On their feet for much of the 90 minutes and demonstrating a varied vocabulary of moves, there can be few audiences of the age-range, and other manifestations of diversity, at a Kylie show. Youngsters whose parents were unborn at the time of the « Neighbours » wedding recollection that set up act Four, were welcome at the reception, more than 30 years on. After « Especially For You », the nuptial sequence included a superbly reworked The Locomotion and pleasingly pitch-perfect « All the Lovers ». This was a production that rewarded careful audience

attention as well as some serious hip-shaking, with many references to the passage of time in the film and animation projected behind the seven-piece band, and those stage pictures skilfully cropped and coloured for the images on the big screens on either side. Act two’s gallery may even have included Vettriano’s Singing Butler, while the tireless eight-strong dance-troupe dropped a momentary reference to the choreography for The Gap Band’s « Oops Upside Your Head » onto the disco dancefloor. The cover of Kraftwerk’s Man Machine, meanwhile, gave the inspiration for the superb mash-up of David Bowie’s « Fashion » and Kylie’s 2003 chart-topper « Slow », opening a scarlet jump-suit featuring act Three that culminated in « Can’t Get You Out Of My Head », via a crowd-pleasing « Kids ». Last year’s Nashville-inspired « Dancing », an upbeat musing on mortality from her 14th album « Golden », and an ecstatic « Spinning Around » closed a show that was a diminutive diva’s compact demonstration of portion control.

#13 - SCARBOROUGH https://www.hulldailymail.co.uk/ by Sophie Corcoran After dominating the British pop charts for more than three decades, Kylie Minogue proved just why she is still the original pop princess in her gig in Scarborough on Thursday night. A performance at Scarborough Open Air Theatre brought together a whole mix of people, who all have their « own » Kylie. Whether it was 80’s Kylie singing « Especially For You » (not with Jason Donovan unfortunately - although she was just as brilliant on her own), to 90’s Kylie belted out « Better the Devil You Know », to the noughties Kylie in her ico-

nic white outfit for « Can’t Get You Out of My Head », to today’s Kylie with her amazing number « Dancing », there was a Kylie for everyone. The 51-year-old managed to dance the night away with fans who have followed her through her career, from « Neighbours » sweetheart right up until the very day where she proved she is still the nation’s adopted sweetheart. Belting out dancefloor bangers and emotional ballads in what was an essentially a greatest hits set she had everyone, no matter their age, up on their feet dancing and singing with her. After being thrown a rose, she gave it to two young girls in the standing audience and called them her « wild roses » - something that got a massive cheer from the audience. Three costume changes, a hell of a lot of brilliant dancing and she still hit the high notes live. She even had the audience in laughter when she told them the staff at Peasholm Park in Scarborough kept the train open for her team to ride on - and they even gave an impromptu performance of her classic song, « Locomotion ». She tweeted the video after her performance. It was her first time in Scarborough and boy, did she make an impression. It seems Kylie, with an impressive career already behind her could teach some of the newer singers on the block. She proved why she deserves the word « iconic » to be added before her name on just an hour and a half set in Scarborough, and people love her no matter what she does. Although she’s pop’s original princess, she’s been here long enough and with performances like that in Scarborough, she deserves a higher accolade. Here’s to Queen Kylie, and long may she reign.

T

T o finish off the Kylie Summer, what better than a special concert ? Special indeed since it was for the Brighton Pride. After Britney Spears last year, Kylie was announced as the headliner for the 2019 edition. And one thing is for sure, the singer clearly didn’t disappoint with her colorful performance and outfits made especially for this show. Let’s have a look back on this concert. A SHOW WITH MORE THAN 55 000 PEOPLE

Everyone knows Kylie’s songs, especially the LGBT community, so we can’t see any better way to end this summer tour than with a concert at the Brighton Pride - one of the most famous pride in the world - as headliner. If the crowd was « only » half the crowd that was at Glastonbury, with more than 55,000 people in the park, it is still one of the biggest concerts that the singer has given during this summer. If you took your tickets as soon as the show was announced then you could only have a « normal » access, the VIP packages offered to the public were put on sale later. Even if you could get a refund if buying VIP tickets, many of you decided to keep their tickets, which I can understand given the relatively low prices of these tickets compared to other dates. You had an access to the stage until the front of catwalk - the front of the stage was reserved to the VIPs - in short, a nice view anyway, especially since the singer did not have a catwalk until now on the shows of her summer tour. If you took the VIP option, two choices were available: the Gold Circle, on the left side of the stage and the VIP Platinum Circle, located on the right side, which gave you the access to 6 glasses of champagne, oysters and access to the VIP toilets and bars. I will not mention the VIP Platinum GrandStand, which was located further, so not so close to the stage and the VIP Arena reserved for groups of 8 people with a view on the side of the stage. 24 www.kylie-world.com

Several stages were present in the park: the main stage, on which Kylie performed, and seven other tents that also offered different shows all day long. On the same stage as our Australian: Alice Chater, Zak Abel, Rrina Sawayama, Bjorn Again, Fleur East, Clean Bandit (with as special guest Marina - and for those who not know this, Kirsten Joy, who did the chorus for Kylie during a leg of the « Golden Tour » and who is touring with the English band now) and finally a surprise act, which was none other than Emeli Sandé.

Focus • Brighton Pride Kylie started her concert as planned at 8:45 pm, with a setlist totally similar to what we had before and a full version of the concert (with « Get Outta My Way », « What Do I Have To Do » and « Never Too Late »). Note, however, the fact that the singer interpreted « Your Disco Needs You », a track highly appreciated by the LGBT community that she had teased on her social networks a few days before, by posting the French part of the song (with a mistake!) so that everyone had time to rehearse. And maybe Kylie should have rehearsed it a bit more too because she missed out the lyrics at one point! There were many costume changes: during the first act, it was the same jumpsuit as for the other dates but this time it was purple/blue. For the second act, the dress was created by Jean-Paul Gaultier. In the third act, the jumpsuit was pink, then Kylie was dressed in a blue dress, the same she had in pink on the previous concerts. She finished the show with a rainbow dress in honor of the gay pride of the brand Kitty Joseph. Note that Jean-Paul Gaultier was a partner of the event and has always supported the LGBT community. Among the best moments of the show, during « Especially For You » and the wedding scene, there were no heterosexual couples, but homosexual couples constituted by the dancers, a great moment during this pride. Let’s note once again the presence, as for the Lytham Festival, of people speaking the sign language, which ensures the accessibility of the festival to everyone - it is so rare that we have to specify it! Several rumors appeared on the internet with the possibility of the appearance of a new guest following her performance at Glastonbury - some rumors spoke of Nick Cave, others of Robbie Williams - but Kylie didn’t need a guest to make the show facing a crowd of 55,000 people. The singer didn’t hesitate to have fun with the camera of the person who made the little souvenir film posted on her social networks. When the night fell, Kylie closed the show with « Spinning Around » and the evening ended with fireworks. The singer conquered the audience of Brighton and one thing is certain, it will not be easy for next year’s headliner to give such a great show! 26 www.kylie-world.com

Reviews #15 - BRIGHTON PRIDE https://www.thesun.co.uk/ By Carl Greenwood KYLIE Minogue stormed the stage at Brighton Pride last night, delighting thousands of fans at the festival. The 55,000-strong sell-out crowd rejoiced when the Australian singer’s dance troupe portrayed a gay wedding while she performed « Especially For You » at the south coast festival. The hit is synonymous with the famed 1987 wedding scene in television soap « Neighbours » when Kylie’s character Charlene married Scott, played by Jason Donovan. The 51-year-old’s rendition of the song on Saturday night followed its topical reprisal in the soap last year when a gay wedding took place for the first time on Ramsay Street, marking the historic news of Australia’s legalisation of same-sex marriage.

The biggest event in the British LGBTQ calendar is upon us, as this weekend will see hundreds of thousands descend on Brighton for the city’s annual Pride event. Widely regarded as one of the biggest and best queer celebrations in the country, this year bosses faced the unenviable task of trying to top the 2018 event, which saw Britney actual Spears headline. However, they have pulled out all the stops to secure one of the biggest gay icons ever – Ms Kylie Minogue. La Minogue takes to the stage in Preston Park on Saturday night in what promises to be a pure pop extravaganza – and if you’re anything like us, there’s some serious stages of emotion we’ll all go through in the lead up to and during the event... You’ve spent the last seven days trying to carve some abs so you can take your top off.

But having failed to, you’re left with a real dilemma of what to wear ?

You decide to go as your favourite Kylie, but with so many eras to choose from, you don’t know where to begin.

You don’t have the time or indeed budget for something from the « Showgirl » era.

And knowing every basic Kylie fan will come as « Can’tGet-You-Out-Of-My-Head » Kylie, that option is out the window too.

After deciding on the perfect outfit, you are officially excited.

And you think about how seeing Kylie at a Pride event will be a poignant moment for the entire LGBTQ community.

Hence you have no time for that one killjoy friend who proclaims they’re « not that much of a Kylie fan ».

As the day rolls round, you’re looking hot and feeling fierce and you strut into Preston Park like…

You immediately spy at least 20 people in your vicinity who you fancy and feel like a kid in a sweet shop.

Did someone say shots?

You get right into the Abba tribute act who are one of Kylie’s warm up acts also on the bill.

But when someone suggests going to see what’s on at the dance tent when you’ve spent the last two hours reserving a prime spot for Kylie, you’re like...

After you’ve tolerated Clean Bandit’s set, it’s now time for MS KYLIE MINOGUE herself. As she takes to the stage, you’re like…

When « Loco-Motion » kicks in, you find yourself doing a big gay conga.

By the time « Spinning Around » comes on, you don’t think you could possibly having a better time.

But then she plays « Your Disco Needs You »

After a glittering triumph of a set, Kylie leaves the stage…

For you though, the night is still young and the decision is made to head out into town.

It proves fruitful when you arrive at the club and spot that proper hottie who you’ve not been able to get out of your head all day.

You already see yourself as the gay Kylie and Jason.

Come 3am, you are ready to go home and lie down.

But then you remember you have a mammoth journey home and need some words of hope and optimism as you head to the train station.

And while no-one will probably top Kylie, you can’t wait to do it all again next year.

Barcelona, July 6th Here we are, back to the Tour Diaries for the second part of the Kylie Summer, which took me directly to Barcelona (one concert a week is really the best way to enjoy the tour!). The idea was to take advantage of the fact that Kylie was in Barcelona to go to Spain for a weekend with my friends. I convinced Melanie and Sasha in about 2 minutes to join me for this show and we all went to Spain on the Friday morning, the day before Kylie’s performance. After 7 hours of train (LOL) we arrived in Barcelona and went directly to McDonalds (I basically ate Mc Donalds all the time during the tour) because I was starting to get hungry and everyone knows that I am really in a bad mood when I’m hungry. Then we looked for our hotel which was next to the train station (perfect for us !) and once we did the check-in we went straight to the swimming pool on the hotel rooftop. After a quick swim, we decided to go to the festival venue, having accesses for Friday and Saturday. It was really good to check the stage before Kylie’s concert and to see if we had to queue in early or not. After 45 minutes in the underground (and thank God the trains are air-conditioned in Barcelona, but unluckily not the corridors - so at one point we almost fainted) we arrived at the festival which was next to the sea (WOOOWWWW). We got our wristbands and we went straight to the main stage where Kylie was going to perform and where the band Bastille was performing at that time. We were surprised to see that it was quite easy to sneak in and get closer to the stage, and to see that after the show most people left to go to another concert. We decided to come back the next day at the opening of the doors at 6pm. This would make us wait 5 hours before Kylie came on stage, which would be more than enough under 30 degrees.

We spent our Saturday visiting the city, we went to the swimming pool where

« Slow » had been filmed (you have to go if you’re in Barcelona and if you’re a real Kylie fan) and we took the cable car next to the pool in Montjuic thinking that it would

take us back to town: but we just ended up at the castle. In itself, it was pretty cool because

the view was really nice, but the cable car was

too much for me, it moved a lot and I’m really

scared of that kind of thing, one reason is be-

#tourists

The cable car, after the drama

cause it really moves a lot (plus the fact that it went super fast at first, I wasn’t ready for that) and the second reason is because I was afraid to get stuck in it. Sasha and Melanie spent their time making fun of me and filming me, I hope nobody will ever see the video!

Spanish people <3

Then we went back to the hotel to get ready before heading to the festival where I met a lot of fans. We had an advantage over them, we already had our wristbands (as we came the day before) so we had a dedicated line. In the end, we were the first in the line and we just had the security to go by while the others had to get their wristbands first. The thing I didn’t mention before was that the distance to the stage was about 200 or 300 meters: you had to pass by the security, run, go through a barrier where you scan your wristband (with the risk that the wristband does not work), run again, cross the food stands, go all the way to the left and run once again to the stage. In short it was The Olympic Games! Melanie and Sasha only had small bags so I pushed them first to the safety check and I kept the bottles of water with me just in case, so that they could run for it and keep me a spot. The doors opened, Melanie and Sasha passed the security without any problem and ran for their lives. And of course the drama was for me, because that day the security people had decided to remove the tops from the bottles, something that they hadn’t done the day before. The guy took ALL his time, so when I started running, I couldn’t see my friends anymore. And have you ever tried running with two bottles of water, which are full and without any lids on them?... Yes, well I almost fell down 2 or 3 times, and the bottles arrived half empty. I didn’t see many people in front of me, and it made me feel better but when going left to go to the main stage, I saw that the front row was almost full. Luckily Melanie was already at the barrier keeping me a spot. I stopped running at that time (well, almost) and gave Mel the water because she was dying and was in a bad state (she has breathing problems so I can tell you that it was a real performance for her!). The day before we had noticed that there was a camera on the left, so we knew we wanted to be in the middle right to avoid having it in front of us, and it was a success! I was really happy that we were front row because it was the only Kylie concert that my friends were going to attend and for Melanie it was the first time she was going to see Kylie

so close during a show. We kept a spot for Steven and his friends who were behind us because they had to get their wristbands and we all ended up in a very good spot. The first act was Years And Years (same as in Belgium!) who came on stage at 8pm. We began to feel raindrops and black clouds were above us, we hoped for a long time that they would leave… But no : at the end of the third Years And Years’ song or so, a storm started. How amazing: it was 30 degrees all day so no one took rain clothes ... It was like that for about 10 minutes, so we decided to let ourselves be soaked hoping it would calm down for Kylie. As I always lie down against the barrier for my back, my bum was absolutely soaked... You can see the state of my shorts on the pic. But honestly it made all the boys behind me laugh a lot (they we lovely by the way !). After the Years And Years act, the crowd got closer to see Kylie, and we saw that the people behind us had brought a speaker with them. They played Kylie tracks for the whole hour of waiting which made the time go super fast. To be honest the audience was REALLY great: kind, nice, nobody was pushing, everyone was singing, the atmosphere was amazing. Actually for me it was the best audience of any Kylie concert I had been to since the beginning of the summer tour. Kylie arrived on stage at 11 pm, the heat was back and the dark clouds had left: I even

did the concert in a swimsuit because it was so hot. The show was crazy, the atmosphere too. The little girl called Laia who got the rose from the Kylie said something to the

singer in her ear which really moved her. This moment was also one of the best moments of the summer tour. Of course, after the concert we rolled ourselves on the floor in the confetti with Melanie, and we put loads of confetti in our pockets, before going to see Parov Stellar who performed right after Kylie. Then we went back to the hotel, with a

lot of memories in our heads (spanning the security gates that did not open, what a sporty day!).

We visited the city again the next day and went to

the beach, before flying back home. We were stuck at the

airport because there was a violent thunderstorm above us (thank God we didn’t get it the night before at the Kylie concert cause it could have been canceled because of that) - and Melanie who is

scared of taking planes had an incredible

time in my arms crying because of the turbulence and still hates me for making her fly back home...

Manchester, July 11th After Barcelona, I went back to Paris for 3 days to go back to work, before flying to Manchester on July 11th. I arrived at 8:30 am at the airport where Jodie was waiting for me. She was back from her holiday in Florida and had taken a night flight to be on time for the concert (so basically she hadn’t slept at all so the day was going to be a bit long for her!). We then took a train to Manchester and then a taxi (with the suitcases, it was easier), to get to the venue where there were two entrances, which wasn’t very convenient. We didn’t really know which way we had to go but we stayed where we were, because local people were saying it was shorter to get to the stage from where we where than from the other side. The other advantage was that the place had a hotel with a bar / restaurant and some kind of sheltered picnic tables that were useful to stay dry in case it would rain (and it did). During the morning we could have drinks, breakfast and even have lunch at midday at the concert venue, and that was really perfect (it was the best wait I experienced during the whole Kylie Summer!!) and the toilets were also really close by, and if you know me well, you’ll know that it’s important to me. The day went by really quickly and we could easily hear when Kylie rehearsed because she was just below us and we even met her whole team. A few minutes before the opening of the doors, a heavy rain fell on us (yes it’s great to be in England in summer), some of us ending up with tickets that were completely soaked. The doors did indeed open at 6pm and we had to go downstairs to get to the stage. The stairs were completely wet, so I guess you can imagine the tragedies that could happen there. Thank God, I managed not to fall and ended up at the front row. To be honest, I think the people on the other side (and apparently there were a few) had come inside before us. People were already pushing when we had just arrived at the barrier, so it was impossible to sit (AWESOME ! 3 HOURS TO WAIT STANDING - I think that’s where my back started to suffer and ended up blocked, that’s the hard tour life). Contrary to all expectations, these three hours went very fast thanks to the opening act, Sonic Yootha, the DJs of the « Golden» Tour ». The concert took place in the middle of the city, and the locals next door could see it from their balcony (lucky!) as well as the passengers on the trains that went by. This gave a very warm and family-like atmosphere to the show and foreshadowed a great atmosphere. Kylie came on stage on time as usual and was on fire ! She was particularly happy, playing with the camera of the person filming the videos, having fun on the mirrors with her dancers, taking a vinyl in the crowd and giving it a kiss, and saying hello to the passing trains.

Jodie when she tried to strangle me because I sang like shit

Then we went for a night out with the girls in local bars and went for a karaoke which, I must say, was pretty incredible knowing our voices (LOL). We congratulated Jodie who as usual, has ensured the show, to the delight of the ears of the people that were still present.

Lytham, July 12th After this fantastic karaoke and spending the night in Manchester, we headed to the Lytham Festival which was an hour and a half away from Manchester. And what’s better than the simplest and cheapest way to get there, i.e. the bus... Once we arrived in Blackpool, we took a taxi to the hotel, where the check-in was not yet open so we left our luggage at reception and headed straight to the festival. It was already noon, the doors were opening at 5pm for VIP tickets and 6pm for the regular ones. We went to take our numbers in the VIP queue (which was composed of 3 people next to the road at this time) before going to see our friends who were in the regular section and where the queue was already a little bigger. This festival was in the middle of nowhere, near the sea, and you know the weather in England... Even if we had sunshine, it was quite cold and there was a lot of wind.

The afternoon went fairly quickly, I made a return trip to the hotel to check-in - we were meant to have a single room with a double bed and actually ended up with a big room with four beds in it (if I’d had known, I would have shared the room with others friends to split the costs). We were staying in Blackpool next to an amusement park that looked like a ghost park coming straight out of a horror movie and our room was next to a big rollercoaster, which was making a crazy noise… Just wonderful! When I came back to the festival venue, the queue was much longer than before. I went to the box office to get my ticket and then went back to my number in the queue. A few minutes before the doors opened, Nicole still didn’t have her ticket because she had bought it from a person who was meant to arrive ‘in 2 minutes’ since maybe 2 hours. When the doors opened, Nicole still didn’t have her ticket so I got in to keep her a spot. It was rather quiet, no one ran and we all managed to get to the front row easily. Most people went straight to the bar and food stalls, so our space was not too busy. The advantage we had is that if we weren’t happy with your VIP section, we had the right to go to the regular section where people wouldn’t arrive before 6pm and basically end up front row easily. Since a drama happened later, I want to say that I didn’t see anyone in the VIP doing that. Now let’s talk about the disaster: at 5.45pm I saw people running to the regular area, something I don’t really get since the doors were meant to open at 6pm. About ten people arrived, then it stopped and a few minutes later, a crowd arrived. Until the end of the concert, I didn’t really know what had happened and it was explained to me that there were different lines to get in, about seven, and that one of them (obviously the one where all my friends were, otherwise it wouldn’t be funny) had a problem because the machine meant to scan tickets didn’t work. All these people were penalized and even if they were there before everyone, they got in later than other people that arrived at 3pm or 4pm. And that’s how the show is ruined for you before it even starts... At around 6:30 pm, a group of dancers called « Ill abilities » came to perform and it was really impressive. Kylie even posted a photo with them on her social medias. Then Ana Matronic did a DJ set during around 45 minutes, before an act that I was really looking forward to seeing: Sophie Ellis Bextor. While I was waiting with two t-shirts, a sweater and a jacket on (and I was still cold), she came on stage in a transparent yellow mini dress that flew in the wind, and I don’t know how she managed not to catch a cold (but then again maybe she did on the next day)! Her gig was really great, she interacted a lot with the audience and made many reminders that Kylie was going to be there on stage soon and that she was the Queen of Pop (YASSSSS QUEEN).

Kylie then came on stage and as usual, she was great. The audience was mainly composed of people around 40-50 years old who are not necessarily fans of her but who know her songs. Due to the wind, the « Y » letter that is always displayed on stage fell, despite the efforts of a dancer to try to catch it... At least, it made Kylie laugh! When the confetti were thrown, they also went straight behind the stage... We could not roll ourselves in it at this concert! A firework was also fired at the end, fireworks that I didn’t see because it was behind the stage and we were at the front row… Too bad! We took some food to eat after the concert (a disgusting hot dog with a sausage that was as huge as the bread (which was cold) and so it was literally impossible to eat without getting food all over our clothes) then a fan called Pierre-Yves kindly gave us a lift back to our hotel - and Gosh it is so complicated to drive in the other direction and on the other side of the road, I’ll never go to England by car or I’m pretty sure I’ll have an accident at the first roundabout!

Edinburgh, July 14th After a day of rest (which was good and ended up being a sleep-travel-visitday), the last Kylie Summer concert for me had arrived. It was the first Edinburgh date. I went to visit the city the day before and I was able to go to the place of the concert without any difficulty: indeed, it was necessary to cross a kind of court when you wanted to visit the castle and this court was none other than where Kylie was going to sing. It was therefore impossible to close the place if they wanted the visits to keep on going. I was shocked by the size of the stage, which was REALLY small, unlike on the photos of the event I had seen on the internet. On Sunday morning, I picked-up my friend Anita at the airport and we checked-in at the hotel next door

because we had a flight at 7am the next day so it was better to stay nearby. A cookie was given to us (yummy!) and we went back to visit the city together because Anita loves castles. It has to be said, Edinburgh is beautiful and I was the first to be surprised. If you are looking for somewhere to go for a weekend, I really recommend it. We ate next to the castle before going back for a walk and going to the hotel to get ready for the show. The advantage of this day was that we didn’t need to queue, tickets were all seated and all had a number on them, and we had... second row seating tickets which was pretty amazing, Anita found them a week or two before the concert and we took them straight away, it was too good to miss. So I sold my previous ticket on Viagogo to a Swedish girl, who didn’t answer me during the days before but called me at 4.30pm on the day of the show to ask me if we could meet in front of the castle at 7.30pm. Kirstie had picked-up our tickets with Anita but her grandmother’s name was on them and a check had to be made at the entrance with the corresponding ID card. At the last minute I managed, via Ticketmaster, to get the tickets under my name that I had to then go and get at the box office (WHAT A MESS!). Anyway, we got ready and left the hotel around 7pm and from then on, the harassment started. The Swedish girl who spoke almost no English called me to know where I was, I spent 5 minutes explaining to her that I was in the tram and that I would be there around 7.30pm as we had agreed but the only sentence that she was repeating was: WHEEERE ARRRE YOUUUUUU YOU SAID YOU’D BE THERE AT 7.30 !!!! This was just the first call, I had about 5 or 6 of them before I even arrived at the concert venue: it was hell. I went to the box office to get the correct tickets, which in the end were useless because no one asked for any identity card, no one looked where we should be placed and even better: NO ONE SCANNED THE TICKETS. So you could get in with a fake ticket, I’ve never seen that before but well, why not. Kylie came on stage a little early, after the opening act by Nina Nesbitt, a native of Edinburgh. In the crowd, we could see Paul, her lover (and oh damn HE IS SO HOT !!!) to whom she sang « The One ». When she arrived on stage, only three of the five mirrors were present due to the fact that the stage was too small. The singer really enjoyed performing in such a historic place, especially since the sun was setting over the city and it was particularly beautiful. After the show, I met Pierre-Yves with whom we went for a drink and we ate, then we went back to the hotel. The awakening was a bit complicated the next day, as was the fact of going back to work, I was totally and utterly depressed during several days (aahhh the return to the normal life...).

And now, how about going to Dubai ?

I

t was one of the highlights of the summer: Kylie Minogue’s secret gig for Magic FM, which took place in London’s Omeara, in front of around 200 people on July 26th. Unfortunately, we weren’t able to attend this one (the fact of living in France probably didn’t help!) - but many fans told us how it was and gave us all the details, which enables us to tell you a bit of what this very very private event was like.

Focus • Magic FM concert The announcement of this very special event was made a few days before the Manchester concert, around July 10th. If we didn’t really have any details on how to win tickets, we knew that Kylie was going to give a private concert with Magic FM (they had interviewed her a few days before and that’s when it was announced) and that it would be only for a few privileged fans. We had no idea of the venue’s location nor capacity, however, we learned during the Manchester concert that it was going to be really small. The singer was supposed to perform during Magic FM’s Christmas concert at the end of november, but she had to cancel because of a throat infection - so I wonder if this private concert was a kind of « compensation » for the radio station because of that previous cancelation... Let’s go back to our main topic... After the announcement made by the radio, we had to find out how to win tickets. I think we all filled-out the form that was online (if I remember well, the question was « Who did Kylie duet with for the single « Kids » ? », so that was kind of complex... no I’m just kidding) then they organized competitions via the radio, through different games. Most tickets could be won during the morning show, around noon and once in the afternoon. Participants had to play games, and for example had to find the title of song after the radio presenters had read out some lyrics, or finding a song after hearing a really weird mix of it just before. And I think that you’ll agree if you tried to call like us, we now know by heart the « I’m sorry, all our lines are busy. Please try again later » : let’s admit it, it drove us all crazy !!! For those of you who didn’t win, I think we can pretty much confirm that if you tried calling with a foreign number, you had absolutely zero chance of getting through from the very start (oh and my phone bill keeps reminding me I tried for nothing), and that there were no actual « rules »: some were directly in contact with the reception of the radio and then went live, others went through reception but someone else was chosen, some even called like 30 minutes before and then some called in less than 5 minutes before going on air... It was really random. 44 www.kylie-world.com

Laeti, Summer 2K19

On the day of the concert, all the fans went in front of the venue they had received information about a few hours before by e-mail, and they couldn’t share the information on social medias. After the show just started (or not even), the information was however available, because some people identified Kylie as being at the Omeara on Instagram. The venue where Kylie performed has a capacity of 320 people, it’s located in the Southwark district, near the London Bridge and hosts small live events and private concerts. It is a room that is in the basement and remember that on that day, it was super mega hot, so can you just imagine the heat there was in the place? (but we’re not going to say « poor you » to the people who were lucky enough to attend right ?). The concert began around 8:30pm with about 200 people in the room, 50% of which were Magic FM contest winners and the other half being from the radio and guests from music industry. The singer was introduced by radio host Harriett Scott, who recalled the incredible statistics of Kylie’s career. Then Kylie arrived on stage, in a white dress with fringes and heels, and she began the show by singing « Love At First Sight », just like during the summer concerts. Due to the fact that the stage was VERY VERY small, there were only two people on the guitar, one on the keyboard, one on the drums and her two backing vocalists. Kylie had her name just behind her, with her new logo in fluorescent colors. The whole room started singing with her and after the first track, Kylie took a little time to breathe and thank the audience for being there, as well as Magic FM for the event, and reminded that it would be nice not to film and not take pictures so that everyone could really appreciate this moment (the photos and videos were prohibited by Magic FM). If everyone seemed to agree with this, some - of course - did not follow the rules and received a reminder from Kylie herself! Among the surprises of the evening in this setlist, we note the performance of « A Lifetime To Repair », one of the tracks that received the most success live during the « Golden Tour » and was very appreciated during this private concert with the fans who had rehearsed the « 6, 5, 4, 3, TOO MANY TIMES... ». 45 www.kylie-world.com

Laeti, Summer 2K19

Focus • Magic FM concert Another surprise was the track « I Believe In You », from the album « Ultimate Kylie », one of her best-of albums released in 2004. After « Can’t Get You Out Of My Head », there was no need to ask the audience to sing or dance anymore, and while it was already hot inside the venue, the atmosphere made things even hotter! The singer kept on going with « Especially For You » and « The Loco-Motion », where she asked everyone to dance and brought on stage our friends Kirstie and Jodie who perfectly ensured the Loco movements and who probably had the best night of their life! (and it’s well deserved). Kylie also missed the beginning of the song so she had to re-do it ! The concert ended with « All The Lovers », « Dancing » and « Spinning Around », where some golden confettis were shot (well not that many since the room was very small and it was better if they didn’t want to hurt anyone). Kylie was delighted by the crowd’s reactions and I think I can say the audience thought that Kylie was brilliant too! She did a concert of a little over an hour mixing her « Kylie Summer » tour tracks with some tracks that only real fans know. At the venue, there was a photo booth, Kylie went in there to get some pics done saying it was totally worth visiting (she posted them on Insta) and of course many people that attended the concert went to get pics done, it’s a great way for these privileged fans to keep a lifetime memory of this concert !

Jo So myself and my friend Anika had been trying all week to get tickets for the gig. I was working everyday to pay off the weekend I had off from Edinburgh castle gig. So I could only phone at lunch times on days my boss let me. But we had no luck, Anika was ringing so much and we nearly gave up hope. On the Sunday I was sick from work (genuinely); since I was off I thought I may as well ring in the lunch time slot one time and I got through!! We were over the moon! We couldn’t believe our luck. Then as I was chatting to Anika about travel etc; I heard on the radio my friend Sophie who we had met at the castle gig and helped us meet Kylie was the next winner! I was already so grateful to be going but to go with two great Kylie friends was out of this world. I am still astounded by our luck. The highlight for me was it was so intimate everyone was so close to Kylie. The room was electric and filled with so much love and positivity. It was great just to be with friends! Kylie seemed so relaxed and eased. She was extremely funny and the rapport audience was fantastic too. I got to chat to her in the audience about the gold glitter that a few people were covered in. It was an out of body experience. I am forever grateful to be part of it!

Sarah I was one of the lucky Lovers who won a pair of tickets to the secret gig in London. I noticed on my Twitter feed that Heat FM were doing the competition as well as Magic and I thought I would give that a try also. All I had to do was text « Kylie » to their competition number and I was lucky enough to be picked. I had a really emotional call from Jordan at Heat FM and I found myself crying on air. I’ve never won anything before and this was amazing... A dream come true for any Kylie fan! The opening of the show to me was the most memorable. I’ve never met Kylie even after 24 concerts I was completely in shock as to how intimate it was and I was that overwhelmed when she came on the stage I burst into tears. It is a memory I will treasure forever!

Focus • Magic FM concert

Emily Watched the interview with Harriet Scott and Ronan Keating the day after it had aired and from then on pretty much listened to Magic all day every day in order to not miss the tweet. There was only one time that I didn’t call and that was because I wasn’t 100% sure that I knew the answer and didn’t want that to be the time I got through and got it wrong haha. Turns out I did know the answer! After a while, I looked at my call history and noticed that they announced the competition at exactly the same time every day. So I switched to listening on my laptop and called 20 mins before they even announced it! I was so used to hearing that guy saying : « All lines are busy at the moment, please call back later » that when someone actually answered I jumped! I was in a lecture at the time and I ran out of there as fast as I could and spoke to someone on the other end first, telling them my answer, my name, how old I was, my bank information (jk) then I was on hold for another 5 mins. I was finally put through to Nick Snaith and did the same with him! I did my work phone voice so I sounded so chill, but most definitely was not chill! Also, on the radio when they say, let’s check with Kylie and she says, « I’ll see you at the gig ». I never heard when I was on the line so brief moment of confusion until Nick said I was going! After that I gave the guy more information and was told that I’d receive an email later that evening. I was originally going to take my mum, but she told me take my friend instead as he would probably enjoy it more. I’m glad I did as that room was sweltering and she would have hated the heat! The day finally came around and I left my house at 9am to pick my friend up for 10, and we drove to London. I got stuck in the worst traffic I’ve ever been in and didn’t get to the venue until 6:00! By that time there was a pretty long queue so I knew I wasn’t going to have the best view. I ended up being right underneath one of the cameras. We finally get in and as I mentioned before, it was WARM in that room. The day after the hottest day of the year, in an old building with no air-con wasn’t

the best decision. We wait for a lil while, for the room to fill up, Harriet Scott walked right past me and she looked amazing! Her dress was absolutely gorgeous!! The show started at 8:30ish and when Kylie came on that was probably the first time I’ve ever gotten emotional at a concert. It all came into realisation how incredibly lucky I was to be there and how much I loved the woman that was stood in front of me. The show was incredible! Still cannot believe that she brought Jodie and Kirstie up during « The LocoMotion » ! Also absolutely loved how she accidentally came in early during « The Loco-Motion » and had to restart haha. Even though it was a relatively short set and I was sweatyyyy after it, definitely one of the best nights of my life! I had introduced my best mate to the goddess that is Kylie Minogue (who now is looking forward to when she tours again so he can see her again) and I had been a part of such an incredible intimate gig. Truly a once-in-a-lifetime night! The irony in it being though, that was the most intimate gig I had ever been to, but also happened to be the furthest away from her I had ever been haha! An incredible night in the presence of an incredible woman. I cannot wait for many more shows of hers in the (hopefully not so far) future.

magic fm JULY 26th, 2019 UK Before her secret gig in London’s Omeara venue on July 26th, 2019, Kylie was interviewed by Magic FM’s Olivia Marks. Kylie Minogue, it’s a pleasure to meet you. Thank you. This is a dream come true for me because I am such a big fan of yours. Oh thank you. My first concert was your concert. First ever gig I went to. It was ? Which one? It was the Showgirl tour. Oh my gosh, amazing! I know, but I used to drive my parents mad, like honestly everything at home was always Kylie, Kylie, Kylie. Oh my gosh, it’s so cute. So it’s great to meet you. Thank you! But it must be amazing for you when you get to meet fans all over the world that have shared this incredible journey with you. Yeah, I think that’s the most rewarding part of it really. I mean there’s all these stories that happened, you’ve just shared a story with me which I otherwise would have no idea about, I could pass you in the street and not know, so I love hearing those stories. Work is work and sometimes it’s demanding and challenging, and I keep saying « That’s it I’m gonna retire » but that’s probably not gonna happen. So work is the work, those challenges are fun to me but when it gets to that little bit further and touches people and becomes a part of your story, that’s when it’s beyond me and it’s such a beautiful thing.

Do you ever find people telling you really personal stories, almost their life stories because your songs have reminded them of a certain time in their lives? Yeah maybe not super personal (laughs) but it might be I was their first wedding dance song, or… Actually maybe you’re right, they will kind of spill information that they haven’t realized they have spilt but actually I can’t think of anything that was too wildly personal. Nothing anyone needs to worry about. Obviously you’ve achieved so much over the years, but is there anything that you’re still longing to do? There’s tons of things, and I’ve been asked that question since the beginning, or you know since I first had some success. And even back then I would say « Oh there’s so much I wanna do » and the answer is the same. I’ve never been a great planner. I admire people who kind of go « In a year I’m gonna do this, 5 years, 10 years, this is where I see myself ». I’m a bit more… You just go with the flow. I pretty much go with the flow yeah, I mean I definitely have my goals but there’s so many different parts to my career and my life, that there’s plenty I still want to do. I don’t really plan ahead but I do look to the future, that’s the point I wanted to make. I don’t really spent too much time reflecting and going « I’ve done that, 49 www.kylie-world.com

that, that and that, which means I don’t need to do any more ». My brain would think, what’s that thing there ?… That’s the next achievement, you know I wanna conquer that, or just you know get that done. I think it’s just my curious nature, I always wanna know what’s just around the corner, what’s the thing that I can’t see? And that keeps propelling me I think. I mean it’s exciting isn’t it? I was gonna say though, because it does seem like you are always looking ahead and you wanna get stuck in the next big thing… Yeah. But when you take a moment to look back, what’s the biggest change that you’ve noticed within yourself? Because you’ve been sleeping in the spotlight from such a young age… I definitely know a lot more about my craft, about what I’m doing and I think back to just starting out, I mean everything was new, when literally every step you take is new, I mean that’s being young I suppose, no matter what your career is. In some ways I feel like the same girl that I was when I started out. And you know yourself more as you grow, you learn things about yourself. Yeah I definitely feel more comfortable in myself and as I said, knowing about what I’m doing, knowing about techniques, Isa, Summer 2K19

Focus • Magic FM concert knowing ways of getting myself out of trouble. I mean I used to, you know we’re here on this stage, years and years ago I just would have, I wouldn’t have been with a band, I certainly wouldn’t have the setlist I have and all of that experience to build on and those memories to share with the audience. Yeah you’ve been doing so much over the summer. Yeah it’s a good time! Do you enjoy every minute of it ? Hmmm (thinks for a long time) maybe not (laughs). Did I speak too soon ? Well it’s meant to look like that but I’m sure any performer would agree, there’s tons of anxiety, there’s tons of pressure, there’s tons of sleepless nights, or many sleepless nights, there’s a lot that happens in the engine room that would be too boring for me to even take you through. Those are the times that make it all work, and I am very happy at the moment, I’m loving the team I’ve got, and this particular point in my life is a good one. But it would be unfair and it would be untrue to say « We’re just so happy all the time » because you’ve got to do the work to get there. Do you find that you put more pressure on yourself now than when you were younger? You’re hitting me with good questions. More pressure, probably about the same. I always wanna do my best and I guess that bar keeps changing so I don’t think anyone puts more pressure on me than I do. That’s tough, give yourself a break! I know, I tell myself that as well, but then the other side « but but …». That’s just my nature. I’m making myself sound like I’m really not fun. I am ! But the work side is intriguing let’s say.

What’s it like for you to look back at old performances and old music videos? Oh well which ones? Some I might go running from the room and pretend that was never me, and that it has to be an impostor. I have so many embarrassing moments, which is sometimes something I try to remember when I’m really nervous about something, I kind of think « Wait, if you actually took stock of all things that are kind of blurry in the distance now (then you can do this)… ». So yeah… There’s some great highlights for sure and I guess there’s the ones I try and put in the foreground. Do your family know how to use these embarrassing moments against you? Like my family would just play them on repeat. Yeah, my dad will be like « Oh yes that was when Kylie did the… ». And I was sixteen, and I’m like « Dad no ! » Yes they’re very good at using those moments. Hmm obviously this is a very tough industry to crack and everyone loves you so much. What’s the best piece of advice that someone’s given you? I don’t know if it’s the best piece of advice but it’s just come to mind. When I was younger and just became famous and understanding what it is to be in the public eye and those pressures, and it’s not like my friend from school can help me with... You know I felt quite alone some of those times and I remember my dad saying « Darling you can always just say no, you don’t have to say yes to everything, I know you’re eager to do all this but you can say no ». And it took me years and years and years for that to sink in. So it’s not the best piece of advice because a lot of the things I’ve said yes to were the best things ever. I would say in general to trust your instinct. 50 www.kylie-world.com

Have you ever said no to anything though that you kind of wished you’d said yes to? Yeah (laughs) ! I’m not gonna expand on it, but yeah there’s plenty of things. It’s been 30 plus years of making music and I do now very much appreciate that you have to feel the fear and do it anyway and that something happens when you get on that stage. And I guess that was from starting in TV at an early age as well. The red light’s on then do it. You can’t waste time, you can’t waste other people’s time, cut, move on to the next thing… If you don’t have any regrets or anything I think that’s boring isn’t it ? You need interesting stories. Well, Sinatra said it best : « Regrets, I’ve got a few but not enough to mention ». Absolutely. I mean if you play it safe all the time I don’t think you’d get very far. Yeah definitely I agree with that. Hmm so I’ve heard that you are a huge Gaga fan. Well yeah. And I couldn’t not bring it up, because I am a die hard little monster. You are a little monster! I just got back from Vegas seeing her. How was the show ? It was amazing. D’you wanna go ? Cause I’d happily take you. Yeah I’d love to see her. What is it that you love about her? Have you met her ? I’ve met Gaga once at one of her birthday parties, I didn’t know her but yes I have but not really. But she’s one of the many female artists who I admire. But the way she can command a stage and she does what she wants is really amazing and she wouldn’t be able to do that without the artists who came before her. It’s really, you have to pay your respects constantly, you know, everything comes from something else. Isa, Summer 2K19

Could we see a collaboration in the future then ? Please say yes ! Please ! (laughs) Hey it takes two to tango, let’s see. Fingers crossed. Listen it’s been an absolute pleasure chatting to you. I can not wait to watch you perform after. Normally I end in-

terviews by shaking hands but are you a hugger? Yes! (They hug). So lovely to meet you. Thank you so much. Thank you ! OK let me ask you a question, which song are you looking forward to most tonight? « Especially For You ». I love that 51 www.kylie-world.com

song. She’s in luck. But « Can’t Get You Out Of My Head » is the song that made me fall in love with you. Oh my god. Tonight’s gonna be emotional. I know, tell me about it! Isa, Summer 2K19

KYLIE was seen with JULIEN MACDONALDS

n July 18th, Kylie was walking in the streets of London with her assistant and the singer ending up meeting a friend, the fashion designer Julien Macdonald. Followed as often by the paparazzi, they took the opportunity to immortalize the moment. The singer, dressed simply and with the minimum of makeup to let her face natural, talked for a few minutes with him and seemed very interested with the content that the designer was carrying with him. Their relationship goes back in years, in 2000 the singer was already wearing one of his creations at the MTV Europe Music Awards in Stockholm.

K KYLIE in a music video for the brigton pride

Y

ou’ve probably seen it on social medias: the famous video by 201 Dance Company which was a teasing for the Brighton Pride. The troupe had already done a similar stuff last year to tease the performance of the Britney Spears and it is with the same team that they produced a choreography for the track « New York City », with almost the same team : Ben Mark for video production, Andrea Walker for the choreography and Monique Matthew as lead dancer. Kylie filmed her appearance in front of a green background so that it can be embedded into the music video. If you have not seen it yet, the video is still available on YouTube!

ylie Minogue, Lewis Capaldi and Billie Eilish donated clothes they brought to Glastonbury to encourage fans to avoid throwaway fashion and to buy second hand products. If you read our focus on the Glastonbury released at the end of January in the Kylie Times, you probably know that the festival gives a real importance to environmental problems. And the stars present have committed this year to help launch the Oxfam campaign that recommends buying second-hand clothes and launches a challenge in September which is to not to buy new clothes for a month. Many artists donated clothes they had worn during the festival, for example Kylie gave the sun visor « Kylie » which is currently on sale in her online store. In a press release, it is said that every year, 11 million clothes end up in the landfill. « Throwaway fashion is putting increasing pressure on our planet and its people. Keeping prices low means garment workers around the world tend not to be paid a living wage, making it impossible for them to work their way out of poverty ». Artists’ clothing are available to win or buy at Oxfam’s online store until September. 52 www.kylie-world.com

C STEP BACK IN TIME number one in the UK

O

n July 5th, it was made official that Kylie had scored her seventh Number 1 album in the UK with her Greatest Hits collection « Step Back In Time ». Metro wrote the following: « Kylie Minogue proves once again that she is still a force to be reckoned with, as she has secured her seventh number one UK album. The Australian singer’s latest greatest hits album, « Step Back In Time: The Definitive Collection », has reached number one, knocking Lewis Capaldi’s album, « Divinely Uninspired to a Hellish Extent », off the top spot. Other new chart entries this week include The Black Keys’ « Let’s Rock », which hit number three, and Chris Brown’s « Indigo », at number nine ». For information, Kylie joins the likes of Coldplay, Elton John, Barbara Streisand and Take That on seven number one records, and the only female artist to have more than seven number one records in the UK is Madonna, who holds 12. Kylie’s team posted a video online to show her reaction to the news. Basically, they had organized a « tunnel of love » as they usually did after the summer shows. In the video we can see the team prepare themselves, and behind a door Kylie’s voice saying « I’m very nervous ». The team starts singing « This is the tunnel of love, this is the tunnel of love (at this point Christian Vermaak opens the door to Kylie and they continue singing), this is the tunnel of love because YOU’RE NUMBER ONE! ». Kylie then screams « Oh My God » and sings then danses along with them. You can tell she is thrilled by the news. At the end of the video she shows us her ‘award’ and says thank you before holding it up in the air and screaming « Whoooo ». On the same day, Kylie posted two pics of her with her award on Instagram, and wrote :

harlotte Tilbury, a make-up artist and creative director, unveiled a new line of lipsticks named after inspiring women and the collection launched on June 20th. These inspiring women include JK Rowling, Amal Clooney, Jennifer Aniston, Sofia Vergara and Kylie Minogue. The singer also spoke about this on her Instagram story saying that she was proud to participate in this project, which aims to find benefits for Women For Women International, a charity working to help female survivors of war rebuild their lives and regain social and economic autonomy. The beauty company is hoping to raise £1 million for Women for Women International through its sales. This will help bring its year-long training programme to other parts of the world and give more women access to the charity’s resources. Charlotte Tilbury said : « I have bottled the beauty DNA of 11 iconic, world-changing people to create new shades in homage to their inspiring beauty and lives, and the difference we can make together! ». The Hot Lips 2 collection comes with a refillable package, a first for an English brand, with refills available for each shade on the Charlotte Tilbury website.

kylie minogue in « the block »

W

e talked about it in our last issue, it was announced that Kylie Minogue would make an appearance in the renovation program «The Block». The episode was shot when Kylie was on tour in Australia, and we see the presenter Scott Cam say to Mark, one of the participants, that one of his friends would be happy to meet him and Mitch. And of course it was Kylie. It was during the Melbourne concert that they had the chance to spend some time with her. When Kylie saw them arrive with their sequined clothes and very well dressed, she said she was going to change because she was underdressed. After taking some pictures, she said her uncle was a cameraman on the TV show. The sequence (very short, like 1 minute) is available on social networks and on YouTube.

This is the first time on record that an artist has ever topped all three of these charts consecutively, furthermore doing so with a Greatest Hits album. This is Kylie’s sixth number one album on the ARIA charts, having previously taken the top spot with her albums « Light years », « Fever », « X », « Kiss Me Once » and « Golden ». Several artists have given pairs of shoes that will go on sale between November 1st and 11th, including Kate Moss, Sharon Osbourne, Chris Martin, Lewis Hamilton or Kylie. Our Kylie offers a pair of Jimmy Choo heels. a documentary about dolly parton

A

documentary about Dolly Parton is being prepared by the BBC, to learn more about who Dolly is behind all the sparkles. If you’re wondering what this has to do with Kylie, it’s because the Australian singer will share some anecdotes in it about the country-star, who inspired her for her «Golden» album, and who is one of her idols. This documentary is expected to show the 50th anniversary celebrations of her first performance at Grand Ole Opry, Nashville, her hometown, as well as her performance as a headliner at the Glastonbury’s « Legends Slot » in 2014. No precise release date is known for the moment but the film will air on BBC Two as part of a season of programmes about country music across the BBC.

tove lo and kylie really don’t like u

ow for big news that should delight pop fans. The Swedish singer Tove Lo recently unveiled the tracklist of her album entitled «Sunshine Kitty» that will be released on September 20th and we noticed the presence of Kylie Minogue as her duet partner on the track «Really Don’t Like U». This song is already described as a pop anthem by the fans of the two singers before they have even heard it... and the wait it almost over as it was announced that the track should be out by the end of the week... It seems there is a good chance that the track will be released as a single, because rumor has it that Tove filmed the music video in Prague at 4am, after one of her concerts the city. She also announced it during her show but we don’t know if Kylie was there with her or not... Tove Lo, who has been going back and forth between Sweden and Australia for more than three years for this album confided in the press about her collaboration with our favorite Australian, recalling that she had met her during a charity gala in Hong Kong. After finding the courage to greet her, it’s Kylie who told her it would be fun if they were doing something together. Tove Lo tells us : « I kind of froze: are you kidding me? We started, like, talking and emailing. It was so f---ing weird ». Due to the two artists’ super busy schedules, it was impossible for them to record together in the studio, so Tove Lo sent the song to Kylie, which she thought was made for her. She says : « It’s about the feeling you have when you’re at a party and your ex walks in with their new girl or guy, and you put all your hate on this new person that has nothing to do with it. You can dance to it but it has some melancholy to it... I’m so excited by it, it’s really a big moment for me ».

uring this summer, a new picture of Kylie that was unknown to us was published on the social medias of the singer. Taken by Christian Vermaak, her makeup artist and one who now is doing a lot of her photos for social medias when she is not on stage, this picture shows the singer in a dress with black ruffles, a bandana around the arm and roses near her face. The picture was taken in Australia during the Golden Tour. This is not without reminding us that we still have not heard the track «A Rose Is A Rose» ...

the 10 sexiest on-stage costumes of all time

T

he internet site of Australian « Happy Mag TV » and « Dangerfield », an Australian fashion label blending vintage vibes and street style, got together to write an article (with pictures) about the 10 sexiest on-stage costumes of all time, and (of course) Kylie is in it! They state that sex and music have almost always walked hand-in-hand. From presumptuous dancing to saucy lyrical content and even the racy outfits of musicians, one thing has always been for sure: sex sells. For years, Artists have been channelling their inner sexual deviant through daring, rule-breaking fashion choices, so we’ve compiled ten of the most iconic sexy stage costumes for your viewing pleasure. The list is in chronological order. • Mick Jagger’s embellished unitard, 1973 • Freddie Mercury’s harlequin catsuit, 1977 • Tina Turner’s embellished naked dress, 1982 • Madonna’s Icons bra bodice by Jean-Paul Gaultier, 1990 • Prince’s assless pantsuit, 1991 • Cher’s embellished biker bodysuit, 1992 • Britney Spears carrying an albino python, 2001 • Kylie Minogue’s barely-there silver two-piece, 2002 • Rihanna’s bondage-inspired bodysuit, 2011 • Beyonce’s mesh bodysuit and caged corset, 2014 Regarding Kylie’s costume, they said : « Kylie Minogue is the ultimate showgirl, she’s been killing it on stage in show-stopping get-ups for decades, from feathery headpieces to fluffy bodices and fishnets, the princess of pop knows how to make a sexy statement. One of her sexiest looks was for her world tour in 2002, when she went full hot robot, sporting a skimpy metallic twinset paired with thigh-high silver boots and futuristic arm cuffs ».

And what would be better than to sing «The Loco-Motion» with her team? This video has been everywhere around the Kylie bubble, enough to ensure a good promotion of her best-of. If you have not seen it, it is available everywhere on the internet and on the social medias of the singer!

foundation project

ylie recently retweeted the message from the Wyndham Academy and their Foundation Stage program, specifically made for children aged from 3 to 4. The goal of this class is for every child to find a place to grow and to learn to understand the world alongside other students and to reach a specific goal at the end of the year. At Wyndham Academy each class has an inspiring artist to teach them these things, and for the first year they have John Lennon, taught by Mrs. Winfield and Kylie, taught by Mr. Christie. The Kylie Minogue class was named after her speech at Glastonbury and is a class where children are invited to reach a dream together and achieve it. They discovered the evolution of music by listening to Kylie via Spotify and YouTube, ways they know, but also listening to a vinyl on a turntable! They each filled-in a little sheet with their name, their age and a small sentence. Even at 27 yearsold, I’d be happy to be in this class!

kylie on the cover of mujer hoy

n August 24th, 2019, Spanish Magazine MUJER HOY published an article about Kylie, containing the same text and interview as the one that was in The Sunday Times’ Style Magazine issued in May 2019. To summarize, it talks about Kylie’s Glastonbury appearance that was yet to come, her successes and her love life. Kylie mentions she regrets lying to herself when talking about Josh, that she’s feeling good with Paul Solomons, she also talks about insecurity that she feels at times, about the fact she’s not partying as much as before at her age, about her breast cancer and the Golden Tour. If you haven’t read the Sunday Times’s Style magazine, you can check out our May issue of The Kylie Times

Then come Michael Jackson with 44 tracks and our Kylie, with 34 of her singles having reached the top 10 of the country, making her one of three women to have had more than 30 songs in this top 10 (with Madonna and Rihanna)! ow unfortunately, we move on to some sad news: the death of actor Rutger Hauer on July 19th, at the age of 75 years-old. If he appeared in over a hundred films, Rutger Hauer also appeared in one of Kylie’s music videos : « On A Night Like This », where he plays her husband. No one on the set knew he was going to appear - not even the singer. She said:

best-selling cassettes

e have known it for some time now, cassettes are making a massive comeback thank to different artists and we’ve seen this with Kylie who’s released many cassettes in just over a year, with all possible reissues and many colors for her Greatest Hits (a good way to ruin people who are collecting them). Official Charts revealed that the tapes have sold extremely well this year and sales have even increased by 112% compared to last year in England. There were 36,000 tapes sold in total, with the band The 1975 at the first place, then Catfish & Bottlemen, followed by Madonna. Kylie is in fourth place with her best-of album « Step Back In Time ».

ylie posted some photos of herself (well, of her hand) and Biffco (who produced a lot big hits for her) on social media, where we can see she’s in a studio holding microphone and the caption says « Days Like These... ». Is the singer already working on new songs for a new album? Apparently, some people saw Lady Gaga in the studio at the same time, so they think it was the perfect time for the two artists to duet together... We can’t wait to know more !

Kylie Minogue tips Lady Gaga for Glasto’s Legend’s slot Kylie Minogue believes Lady Gaga is due a turn at Glastonbury’s Sunday afternoon Legend’s slot after she herself ticked the gig of her bucket list this weekend. LIST.CO.UK Kylie Minogue thinks Lady Gaga should play the Legend’s slot at Glastonbury. The « I Should Be So Lucky » hitmaker finally got to play The Pyramid stage at the Worthy Farm extravaganza this weekend, over 10 years after a cancer diagnosis stopped her from performing, and now she has tipped more female stars, including the « Shallow » hitmaker, to play the prestigious spot reserved for icons at the festival. Kylie – who followed in the footsteps of the likes of Lionel Richie, Dolly Parton, Dame Shirley Bassey and Elo’s Jeff Lynne – told the Daily Star newspaper’s Wired column : « I think Lady Gaga is a natural and gives everything to everything she does, I’m sure she would be great ». And gushing over her idols, Madonna, Whitney Houston and Cyndi Lauper, she added:

in the late 1980s. Kylie admitted that whilst her acting past, including her most famous role in Aussie soap « Neighbours » as mechanic Charlene Robinson – whom she played from 1986 to 1988 – has turned out to have a positive impact on her music career, it used to « wind [her] up » when people didn’t take her seriously because so many global stars before her, including country legend Dolly, have achieved both success on screen and behind the microphone. She explained: « I’m enjoying music more than ever. I totally am. I think starting as a young actor and getting into music I felt like I never heard the end of it for a while. It’s, « You’re not a singer you’re an actress ». It’s true I didn’t have the experience and hadn’t earned my stripes back then ». She added:

« l don’t know Madonna like that but she will always be one of my inspirations. I was 14 dancing around to her and Whitney Houston and Cyndi Lauper and a lot of the romantic bands from the UK in my suburban teenage bedroom ». The 51-year-old star’s early work was largely penned by Stock Aitken Waterman, the songwriting and production company of Mick Stock, Matt Aitken and Pete Waterman, who together launched the « Slow » singer’s pop career

« It did wind me up that if you look at some of the best performers of all time they did all sorts of things. A lot of great female performers particularly, you’ve got Bette Midler, Cher, Dolly Parton – God bless Dolly she learned everybody’s lines when she did « 9 to 5 » – that’s how much she knew about acting, she thought she had to know everything ».

Kylie Minogue: How our obsession is driving her success Thirty-three years ago. That’s when Kylie Minogue first entered my life - and that of millions of teenagers - in the Australian soap Neighbours. It’s hard to believe it’s that long ago. By Simon Browning - BBC.COM

I watched her marry Scott Robinson (Jason Donovan) in 1988, alongside 20 million others. I dread to think how many times I watched it on VHS. But looking back, it was early evidence that I, alongside the British public, had already taken Kylie to my heart and that she had real marketing appeal. More than three decades later, public affection for our adopted « pop princess » shows no sign of wavering after Sunday’s storming set on Glastonbury’s Pyramid Stage. After appearing on stage to a blaze of Pride colours and mirrors - even Kylie seemed overwhelmed by the size of the crowd that had come to watch. « I’ve never seen a crowd like it. Ever. Everybody loves Kylie. You could feel it », BBC Music presenter Lauren Laverne said after Kylie came off stage. It’s exactly how I felt when I met Kylie last year when I was working at BBC Breakfast. She was as nice in real life as she appears on stage: kind, accepting and smiling. But it takes more than niceness to achieve a music career that spans 30 years, an incredible feat when pop music can be transient and fleeting for many musicians. To date, there have been : • seven UK number one singles,

• six number one albums, • 34 UK top 10 singles.

But Mr Forde says these tunes were not just « throw-away pop songs », but the start of a new performance era. « It began a very clever, well thought out progression and the start of huge shows that were and still are an incredible spectacle ». For a majority of artists now, these shows are the main money-spinner out of everything they do. People come to these shows and pay good money for their tickets, to see a performer - and that’s what you get with Kylie. I should know, it’s the reason I keep going back. I think I’m at 12 shows now. « LAs much art is involved in writing songs as there is in performing them. Kylie might not write them all. But a great performer can take a great song somewhere else. People buy into that. And they buy into her », adds Mr Forde. Being a pop star is also about looking good, something that Ms Elvin acknowledges Kylie has done - and continues to do very well. But Ms Elvin says it is Kylie’s professional approach to work which has really made her stand out. « Kylie understands she is the pop person there to do her bit. She understands it’s business. There are no big pop star dramas ». There are no reliable statistics, but being a pop star has obviously brought Kylie substantial riches. From Gold Hot Pants To Glastonbury... 10 Times Kylie Minogue Redefined Pop Music After over 30 years of bothering charts around the world, Kylie Minogue is one of those rare things: a pop star with longevity. By Matt Bagwell - HUFFINGTONPOST.CO.UK

Key to her ongoing success is her constant reinvention, which has helped her clock up 50 UK Top 40 singles, bag multiple awards from Brits to Grammys, sell out tours across the globe and earn National Treasure status in the process. Not bad considering she’s not even a Brit. But when it comes to her musical output, Kylie often doesn’t get the credit she really deserves. Her triumphant Glastonbury set - in front of a record crowd - was testament to how much love there is for the 51-year-old star. But it also illustrated just how many pop bangers she’s gifted us over the years - and how she’s pushed pop’s boundaries - which is why she’s still topping charts three decades since her first hit. Here’s 10 times Kylie reinvented herself - and redefined the pop genre.

Kylie Minogue Cannot Block Eyewear Company from « Kylie » Trademark, Says EUIPO Appeals Board THEFASHIONLAW.COM

To love Kylie Minogue is to love yourself, public cheesiness and joie de vivre How I fell in love with the Australian pop princess. By Jonno Revanche - THEGUARDIAN.COM

One of Kanye West’s most notable interview moments of the last few years is when he describes what it means to « be a fan of Kanye West ». According to him to admire someone of his size is to in turn to value your own creative worth, because his vision, his self-belief and influence are so enormous, you begin to internalise those things and learn to believe in yourself by proxy. As the quote goes, to be a fan of Kanye West is to be a fan of yourself. Fun concept!

ney to super fandom reveals, interestingly, that it almost directly correlated with my tentative realisation and acceptance of queerness. As I began to accept the parts of my personality that had previously been unexpressed – a girlishness, an outlandishness, a hesitant then completely enthusiastic relationship to aesthetics, to sincerity and whole-heartedness, an appreciation of oiled up muscle queens in jock-straps – my understanding of Kylie began to grow also. Will Ferrell returns as Anchorman’s Ron Burgundy and feuds with Shawn Mendes and Kylie Minogue By Megan C. Hills - STANDARD.CO.UK

Comedian Will Ferrell had a busy Thursday night, as he reprised his iconic role as Anchorman’s Ron Burgundy and appeared on several late night talk shows. The fictional bumbling newscaster performed a set of « exclusive » stand up sets, revealed he only carries around « crisp thousand dollar bills » and delved into his fictional feuds with singers Kylie Minogue, Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello. Ferrell - or rather, Burgundy - appeared on The Conan O’Brien Show, Jimmy Kimmel Live!, The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon and The Late Late Show with James Corden. The rapid-fire press tour was part of an effort to promote the second season of Ferrell’s podcast « The Ron Burgundy Podcast », which sees the star interview guests and « reveal recipes » according to the fictional San Diego newscaster.

« covered in cuts », however it had a happy ending. He said, « We’re lying next to each other [in hospital] like, « What the hell happened? »... And we’re good friends now ». When asked what his favourite Kylie Minogue songs were, Ferrell responded with « Take Me To The River », « Hot Air Balloon For Two » and « Sydney Nights ». Kylie Minogue has never released any songs with those titles. Minogue wasn’t the only person that Burgundy had fictional beef with, as he also called out pop singer Shawn Mendes. Burgundy was furious at Mendes, who is believed to be dating his Senorita collaborator Camila Cabello, for stealing his music and his falsetto singing style. One of Burgundy’s biggest gripes with Mendes was over the song « If I Can’t Have You », which some have speculated is about Cabello.

While on his former Saturday Night Live co-star « I wrote that song about Camila Cabello Jimmy Fallon’s show, he revealed that one of his inbecause she broke my heart. Fans claim stars Nicole Kidman and Kylie Minogue have « never been pictured together ». While it’s possible the pair have appeared in a photo together at some stage, fans and online searches have been unable to unearth it. By Joe Scek - DAILYMAIL.CO.UK

Kylie, 51 and Nicole, 52 have been in show business together for more than three decades, and share a film credit in Baz Lurhman’s Moulin Rouge. The two Australian icons rose through the ranks domestically in their respective fields before going on to achieve international super-stardom in singing and acting. And despite their similar career timelines, oddly, many fans believe they have never seen Kylie and Nicole publicly pictured together. Fans first noticed online way back in 2008 when one person wrote: « Nicole Kidman and Kylie Minogue, never the two shall meet ». The tweet came after the two stars were alleged to have attended the same event but were not seen in a photo together. And in the eleven years since the initial tweet, it appears the two women still have not been pictured together. The talk resurfaced again recently after an inquisitive fan posed the same question, asking: « Why are there no pictures of Kylie Minogue and Nicole Kidman together ». Meanwhile, another fan seemed to be rather riled up about the alleged division, writing in all caps: « THERE. ARE. NO. PHOTOS. OF. NICOLE. KIDMAN. AND. KYLIE. MINOGUE. TOGETHER ».

One fan noted that that the two stars were often at the same event but always « with separate photographs » adding that they were « never [seen] together ». « [They have both been at] plenty of [the same] premieres, fundraising events, award shows and parties, Both names come up in many articles each recapping a single events », they wrote. Hilariously fans thought they had debunked the theory after they found an image of Nicole handing an award to another blonde haired beauty believed to be Kylie. However it was revealed that the woman in question was not Kylie — who was also in attendance at the event but was in fact actress Sharon Stone. The apparent lack of photo of two of Australia’s biggest exports in one frame has many fans scratching their heads. A representative for Nicole Kidman told Daily Mail Australia of the chatter: « This is nonsense. Where does this silly stuff come from? ». Daily Mail Australia has also reached out to representatives for Kylie Minogue for comment.

Both stars were active during the early 1980s with Kylie first appearing on The Henderson’s in 1983 and Nicole making her debut the same year in BMX Bandits. But it wasn’t until the mid-late 80s that the two The online speculation has sparked a movement women had their big breaks. online with fans demanding answers. Does a Pride event need Kylie or Ariana Grande? Pride events have become big business, with big name pop stars and big ticket prices to match. But does that distract from their original purpose as inclusive events for the LGBT community? By Adrian Bradley - BBC.COM

Manchester Pride this weekend is the final largescale event of the UK's long Pride season - with the bank holiday weekend usually attracting visitors from around the country. This year it's going to be different. there's a new site for the main stage - Mayfield - and a new name, Manchester Pride Live. And it's got big name headliners - with Ariana Grande making an emotional return to the city for the first time since her One Love concert held in the aftermath of the suicide bomb attack at her 2017 Manchester Arena show. Pride festivals have changed dramatically since the first march in the UK in 1972. Then, about 1,000 people took part in a rally to Trafalgar Square. Manchester's festival started in 1985 and by 1991 had become Manchester Mardi Gras - eventually becoming a major fixture for the city. But as it grew it got more expensive to put on and in 2003 it was controversially decided to close off Manchester's gay village and sell tickets to pay for the event. And the big names this year come with a big price tag: £70 for the whole weekend (£15 just for Manchester's gay village) and if you want to go VIP it can be up to £275. Last year a ticket for the whole weekend would have cost just £28. Manchester pride isn't alone. Tickets for Brighton Pride, which was headlined by Kylie Minogue went up to £42.50 for day tickets, and cost more if you wanted to go to the bars in Brighton's St James Street area. Regan, a social media manager from London, says he's spending at least £400 on the weekend. « The hotel is probably the worst part because it's a necessity and yet you're only there to sleep and shower, but everyone puts their prices up ». For Regan, the line up was the big attraction: « I’ve not been to Manchester Pride for about four or five years now. Brighton Pride’s artists are always amazing but this year the line-up didn’t appeal in the same way, and then when Ariana Grande was confirmed for Manchester, it was a no-brainer for me to switch ». 74 www.kylie-world.com

Kylie in the press • July and August Not everyone is convinced. Keir, a postgraduate student at Manchester University has planned a weekend in Portugal instead. « We've been going to Manchester Pride for the past few years and always bought the early bird tickets for the full weekend. We decided not to go this year because of the massive price hike ». Helen, who works at a primary school has also been put off by the cost « We did London which is free but the cost put us off Manchester this year ». And she's unimpressed with what the big names do to Pride festivals. « We were offered £25 Brighton tickets this year but declined as it's not what it used to be - an inclusive free for everyone to celebrate Pride. It's basically people travelling for a cheap concert with Britney or Kylie ». However, Mark, a voiceover artist from Oxford, doesn't feel the same way: « At Brighton watching Kylie we were next to one gay family and one straight family who had huge amounts of respect for Pride and what it meant. That's why they're good events... the big pop act brought them all together in a way that wouldn't have happened if she wasn't there ». Many tell me they are choosing to go to events without the big names. But these festivals can feel a pressure to compete. Pride in Hull is one of the UK's largest free pride festivals, with more than 60,000 taking part this year. « Audience expectations are getting higher and higher », says Matt Walton, chair of Pride in Hull. « If you haven't got a line-up filled with big names, people are really critical. It's great that the major Prides can put on these great shows for their audiences, but people need to be realistic, we can't all afford international artists ».

to start looking at different models, but we'll always strive to make sure there is a free way to enjoy Pride in Hull ». Manchester Pride says while they don't think there's a demand that acts get bigger and bigger each year, there is a demand for recognisable names. « We ask attendees what they want from their festival and every year they tell us that they'd like international acts to perform as a part of the celebrations », says Mark Fletcher, Manchester Pride's CEO. « Whilst I personally don't think that it is important to have big name acts in order to celebrate LGBT+ life, it's important to recognise that big acts helps us to amplify our campaign for LGBT+ equality. Allies are essential, and as allies big name acts draw lots of attention which helps to support the modern LGBT+ pride movement ». Jonathan, a case-worker from Bristol, agrees: « Having Sophie Ellis-Bextor and Mel C at Bristol Pride was amazing. It felt like our city and region mattered, that our pride celebration could have the energising (free) march, donation only entry, and have these big acts come and celebrate with us ». Mark points out that much of Manchester Pride is free, including the parade and the candlelit vigil, and that this year they have introduced a free event for young LGBT+ people called « Youth Pride MCR ». They also make some free tickets available for Gay Village Party and Manchester Pride Live for LGBT+ people in financial hardship. Despite the costs, demand is definitely high. More than 170,000 people are expected to attend at some point over the weekend and tickets have already sold out for Sunday, when Ariana Grande tops the bill.

Pride in Hull costs around £100,000 to put on, and most of the money goes on the performers. Matt says the costs are going up: « A lot of people assume that we get preferential rates or even that performers do it for free because we're a charity or because they want to support Pride. I don't begrudge artists charging because it's their livelihood and if they perform for free they aren't earning, but it does feel like fees are getting higher ». As a free festival Hull relies on donations and sponsors to make the event happen. « In an ideal world it would remain free », says Matt. « However, it feels less and less sustainable and our donations are going down each year. Interviews • Magic Radio

magic radio JULY 9TH, 2019 UK On July 9th, Kylie was on Magic Radio’s « Magic Breakfast » show with Ronan Keating and Harriet Scott to talk about a secret gig that she was to perform on July 26th, the incredible Glastonbury performance, and her new album. HS: Well this is very exciting isn’t it? RK: Very very exciting. Who have we got in the room ? Kylie Minogue ! How are you ? KM: Hi I’m good how are you two ? RK: We are fantastic, we’re excited to have you back. Thank you so much for coming in. KM: Yeah, good to see you again. RK: Yeah good to see you too. So thank you firstly, on behalf of all the team at Magic, you’re gonna do this special secret gig for us in London. KM: Yes I know. A secret gig how exciting! HS: So secret we can’t say where it is. RK: We don’t know where it is! KM: Do any of us know where we’re going? (laughs) HS: So we were saying to the team « we need to know where it is », and they were like « guys there aren’t many tickets, we’re not absolutely sure that you can even come ». KM: The one thing I do know is it’s very exclusive. RK: It’s gonna be on the 26th of July, the only place you can get tickets is right here on Magic. Now, it’s so exclusive they won’t even give us tickets. Not only for ourselves… KM: Can I go? (laughs) RK: Yeah you’re the only person going! First time tickets will be given away is this afternoon, so it’s exciting. HS: If we do a really good interview, Kylie might put us on her guest list. KM: I don’t think I’ve got plus-ones. RK: Oh come on. KM: It’s just me, that’s it so far. HS: When you came on the show, not too long ago, shortly before Christ-

mas, I’m seeing you again today and there’s a post-glastonbury glow isn’t there? KM: Call it a glow, I don’t know. I still haven’t processed it, it’s so much to try and absorb, but it was incredible. HS: It was a great entrance and I was watching it on the TV, I wasn’t there this year - she says when I’ve never been (laughs) - so I was watching it on TV and the stage set turned didn’t it ? And you had the dancers revealing themselves first and then there was you at the end. And I had a tear. RK: It was emotional, it really was emotional, for many different reasons. HS: And you looked emotional. KM: I was, I mean when you’re nervous about something, Ronan you’ll know this as a performer, you stop breathing, you get a dry mouth, I was kind of like really trying to keep it together. HS: Talk us through how, first for a start, were there many conversations about how to arrive on stage, and also how does that feel when, you know, you’re in position and about to go? KM: Well they kind of cover up the gaps between the peryactoys (sorry Lovers I have no idea how you write that, just guessing) - that’s your new word for

the day - peryactoy is something on stage that can do multiple things so we had five of those structures. So I was able to make my way to my little peryactoy, so yeah it was quite unique in that I had, you know, I don’t know how many seconds it is before I turn, but it was just me in there, I just shut my eyes and I was just trying to talk myself up or down I don’t know which 76 www.kylie-world.com

way, but just like « ok it just got real » and « let’s do it ». RK: The welcome that you got from the audience was phenomenal, it was so beautiful. KM: It was extraordinary, and that actual turnaround had become a meme now, I never knew I would become one but it has. I called my friend the day after and he said « Hi » and I just said « OH.MY.GOD » like there’s no words. So we talked about that little meme and I said « I saw it and I don’t know whose face that was, I don’t recognize that expression » and he said « I thought the same thing, I’ve known you for 20 years… » and that’s how « other » it is that I don’t know, I almost don’t recognize who that person was, there’s so much in that one moment of the turn around and having that sight. HS: It was phenomenal. RK: But it’s lovely, after the amount of time that you’ve been doing it, and all the different stages that you’ve stood on globally, that you still get that excitement and the adrenaline going through you like that. I mean it’s Glastonbury, but it’s another stage, and you’re a pro at it, so that shows how special it still is for you, and that’s why this album that you’ve released is so important to everybody that loves pop music. KM: Thank you yeah, it was tricky getting… I had 75 minutes, I was really aware of time and I can be chatty Jean on stage, it’s just like they (my team) have to get the hook out (pretends to be fishing) « Come on Minogue ». But to try and get as much of that history Isa, Summer 2K19

in the set as possible, was quite tricky. HS: Also Glastonbury, and maybe this is the reason why I haven’t been, it’s known to be massively ‘poppy’ is it? But you brought Kylie to Glastonbury and you did it your way. KM: I don’t think I could have done it any other way. I felt reassured as much as possible beforehand that everyone was talking about that particular slot being just like « you just got to deliver the songs », it’s not the time to be doing new stuff or experimental stuff, just deliver the hits as best as you can and people are there to celebrate, so that was good. RK: How does Kylie Minogue do Glastonbury ? Did you embrace the Glastonbury (atmosphere) ? KM: To be honest I didn’t get out amongst it, I’ve yet to experience Glastonbury as a long week-end experience. I saw a bit of Miley afterwards, she was great, god she’s so rock’n’roll ! She’s amazing. HS: Yeah she’s fearless. KM: So another time I’ll… but just by chance when I arrived, one of the first people that happened to be there was Michael Eavis and I’d not met Michael nor Emily before. I got a big hug from Michael, I felt like that was like a farmer’s solid hug, a real good embrace so that was a really nice welcome. RK: Now you are here to talk about our special secret show, but also you’ve a brand new album out, not only a brand new album out, it’s the number one album in the country! KM: Oh my god yeah it’s true ! You’re right thanks! HS: That’s how it should be. RK: Congratulations. « Kylie Step Back In Time The Definitive Collection », we have it here, it’s beautiful, it’s like a book to start with. KM: Yeah we really went to town with the design, as I was mentioning to you before, literally we were hands on riffling through archive boxes trying to find old images, I mean the first page in that, which is a cassette, is my first « Locomotion » cassette, I just stumbled across it somewhere and there it is. RK: Look at that, 1987, Mushroom Records, « Locomotion », it’s brilliant that you still have these photos

as well, because it’s a celebration for you, but also all of your audience that have followed you, for them too. KM: Yeah that’s what’s been so touching and emotional about this album is that - and I’ve tried to say it without being too cheesy but I don’t know if I’ve managed - because it is what I feel, I say « they’re not my songs, they’re our songs » and there’s 31 years of history and we’ve been through all sorts of stuff in that amount of time. HS: Look at this one, you in a car « Tears on My Pillow ». RK: I remember that song so well. HS: I know people must ask you this all the time… KM: Oh oh what’s the question gonna be? HS: It’s a really boring question, but I’d love to know if you have a favorite song. Because for me if I go back to the eighties, like « Hand On Your Heart », songs like that and then early nineties, « Better The Devil You Know », those songs are just incredible, and then jump to… God what’s it called?… KM: « Confide in Me » ? HS: God this is ridiculous (she still doesn’t remember the song title), you know the one of you in the cargo pants and the heels? KM: Oh ! « Love At First Sight ». HS: One of my favorite songs in the world, how embarrassing I’d forgotten the name. Yeah all of that… KM: Yeah it takes you back to what you were wearing at that time, did you or did you not have a perm, who were you dating, were you in a relationship, out of a relationship, were you at school, college, I mean I love it that people can look at pages or listen to a song and it takes them back. RK: I was at Barbara Streisand’s concert on Sunday at Hyde park, it was unbelievable. KM: I missed it ! I missed Celine and I missed Barbara, I was devastated. RK: I was delighted, you’d be crazy to miss it to be honest. If you had an opportunity to go you’d be crazy not to (talking to and about Harriet).

HS: He always says this. I went big on Stevie Wonder and Lionel, I had a big saturday night. 77 www.kylie-world.com

KM: OK, you overdid it Harriet. HS: I don’t know my own limits. RK: She’s at that age she can’t pack it up for two nights in a row. KM: Yes I know the feeling. RK: I was sitting there watching her, and I knew that we were catching up later in the week and I just thought, you know you’re at a stage now - no where near an age of what Barbara is - but you’ve done everything that you could imagine in the music business, I mean you can do no wrong, you’re Kylie Minogue, you’re at that stage now where you’re a legacy artist. KM: Thank you, I really appreciate that. But I still have the desire and passion to do more. I mean I could be performing for the next 20 years the show that I have now which is the Greatest Hits show but I don’t want to. I really want to still be progressive and hopefully have celebrations in the future for a different music. What it will be, I’ve got a little idea, I’ve got a demo I like, but we’ll see. HS: I like the country leaning Kylie we had a little bit on « Golden », I came to see your « Golden Tour » at the O2, it was fabulous, it was absolutely brilliant. I loved it. And I love « Shelby 69 ». KM: Oh thank you ! It’s almost that, it’s « Shelby 68 ». HS: Is it « Shelby 68 » ? (Ronan makes fun of Harriet, and laughs out loud)

KM: Harriet’s on fire this morning everybody! RK: Oh you are good Harriet. Two a day! (laughs)

KM: It was for my dad. HS: I know ‘cause I know the story RK: Is it about a car? KM: It is. My dad has been a motor head, car enthusiast is probably the nice way to say, and he spent some of his teenage years in California, thus one of his favorite cars is the Mustang and he’s kind of bought and sold them over the years, he’s that guy polishing with a toothbrush, don’t look don’t touch, and his favorite car is Shelby 68, and I would call it a Mustang. He would say « Darling it’s not a Mustang it’s a Shelby ». And so I write the song « Shelby 68 », I was like ‘Dad I’ve written a song I’ll send you the demo, it might not make the album, I don’t know », it turned out that it did. And Isa, Summer 2K19

Interviews • Magic Radio then he said to me « you do know that the car people call it a 68 Shelby » and I said well « it’s too late » (laughs), « it all rimes, it all makes sense I can’t change it now, so for me it’s Shelby 68 ». RK: What does Kylie Minogue listen to at the moment, what kind of music? KM: Nothing actually. I do find that I listen to nothing. Or - and this is probably the worse thing to say on a radio station - but I just like a bit of silence when it’s this busy and I get home, or put the TV on, a bit of comfort TV. HS: On your number one album, there is a brilliant new song, I love it, it’s so upbeat, it’s already going to be a classic, I’m going to get this title right. KM: Yeah come on Harriet ! HS: This is Kylie’s brand new single, it’s « New York City » ! (Ronan and Kylie go Yeahhhh!) * PLAYS NEW YORK CITY *

RK: So 26th of July, a secret venue, it’s gonna be a very very special gig, thank you so much for firstly doing it for us, it’s gonna be amazing. KM: I can’t wait. HS: When you have a gig like that, what can we expect from it? I can’t even remember those words that you used, the plinths that were on the stage at Glastonbury, I’m guessing they don’t follow you? KM: I think the peryactoys will not fit in this secret venue. Me, my band, tunes, singalong, I think we’re gonna have a great time. We’re not going acoustic, although we might throw a little bit of that in there, I think it’s gonna be a pumping little gig. RK: And to see an artist like yourself in a small intimate venue like that, as you know it’s a very different performance that you give. KM: I love them, you can really chat with the audience and interact with them it’s super fun. RK: And they can be scary too. HS: I was gonna say, because when you’re on stage on Glastonbury, I wonder if you don’t get more nervous with a smaller group? KM: I think I used to get nervous with smaller numbers, but just the change in my understanding of performers…,

like years and years ago, I used to be terrified when they’d say « now you’re gonna need to do some chat here », I used to kind of freeze and now I love to chat. I wasn’t that confident with live singing so I’d be more interested in dancing and now I’m like « How much dancing do I have to do? » So it really changes, and yeah I love both of them for different reasons. HS: When you’re looking at Glastonbury, did you see all the people dressed up like in the « Can’t Get You Out Of My Head » video costume and everything? KM: I saw quite a lot of hooded white jumpsuits, I was really pleased, I think second to last song I did see the broom hat with a wig of curls on top of it, it’s almost like « Where’s Wally », I wanted to, and I’ve not been able to do it yet but just kind of see some shots of the audience and pause it and have a good look at everyone. I did see a lot of them, there was a really good big sign, someone had put « I Should Be So Mucky ». There were some amazing looks yeah. HS: And obviously all the sweeter to perform there, we didn’t mention this earlier, but I know that you’ve touched on it on stage you were supposed to be there is 2005 but your body told you differently but you fought back. KM: Yeah I did and it’s so vivid the memory of being in Australia of watching that and seeing it all happening, and everything was quite surreal at that point in time which is why I asked Chris Martin if he would come and sing « Can’t Get You Out Of My Head » with me just to « buckle the buckle », wrap that up. So yeah I knew I had to mention it, I just really had to turn away from the audience and try to not to go to the ugly cry. Mainly because I was concerned about the time, not so much about the look but I thought If I go there, it’s going to be really hard to come back. RK: Well we were very lucky to have you here. Thank you so much Kylie for coming. KM: Thank you for all your support since last time I saw you guys and I’ll see you at the secret gig. 78 www.kylie-world.com

HS: There you go we’re in! RK: And Congratulations on your number one album Kylie! KM: Thank you ! *** After that Ronan, Harriet and Kylie played a fun game called « The Wheel Of Kylie ». Basically, Ronan had to turn big wheel (like the Wheel of Fortune) on which were written many Kylie song titles (instead of sums of money). Harriet had a box in her hand in which there were many different tickets with one word on each of them. Kylie had to pick one ticket, then Harriet had to sing the melody of one of Kylie’s songs to that word in the box, and Kylie had to guess the song title. Kylie had to turn her back to the wheel of course, to not see the song titles. First paper that was picked was « Dance », Ronan span the wheel and the song was spinning around. Harriet started singing « Dance, da da da da dance », Kylie found it immediately. Second word was « Sausage », the song was « I Should Be So Lucky ». Kylie was pretending not to recognize the song because it was really funny. Third word was « Summer », and the song was « Especially For You ». Harriet and Ronan sang it as a duet, it was so funny. Kylie said she really liked this game, and even requested another word as a bonus. The word was « Minogue », and the song was « Kids ». Kylie even started singing with Harriet on this one, and stood up to dance with her. ***

Isa, Summer 2K19

heat radio JULY 10th, 2019 UK Kylie was interviewed by Jordan Lee from Heat Radio on the July 10th and the interview was uploaded on the radio’s official Youtube page on July 22nd. OH MY KYLIE! It’s Kylie Minogue, how are you ? Good, how are you ? I’m very good. You’re like a Bona fide hashtag legend now, you’re above legend. Well I don’t really comprehend what’s happening but it feels like something’s changed yeah. I still have to do the dishes, and the humdrum carries on (laughs).

How was that moment at Glastonbury then? Being able to shout « Glastonburyyyy ». I don’t know quite how to express what it was like… It was amazing, it was terrifying, it was « other » is the best way you can describe it. I mean just to take the energy of that place alone is a lot to understand and deal with, but it was amazing and I can’t quite believe that just happened to me. Are you on a bit of a comedown now? It’s been quite strange yeah. I mean that was on the Sunday, Monday was a day off and I was like one of those toys that first you have to wind-up and then it just goes in one direction, hits a wall, and then… I mean if you’d asked me what my name was I’d probably have struggled to answer the question. And then, you know, I’m on the road so I had more gigs to do. I think that’s probably quite good, it would have been very strange to have all that lead up to Glastonbury and then nothing, so I’m still on the road now… That’s exciting, you’ve got a busy summer. It’s kind of busy yeah. One day in particular I’m very excited about. Hmm …I can imagine… Well I’m gues-

sing … What are you guessing ? I’m guessing a bit of Pride in Brighton? Oh yes she knows! That’s gonna be, well I’m already calling it a moment. Well I think it will be, because that’s our last gig of the summer, which is more or less the Greatest Hits show that we’ve been doing but of course it will be a little bit different, we’ll give it just a little tweak. Any sneak previews you can give me or?… Zero. On the theme of pride, we’ve just had London pride as well and prides happening all over summer. How important is it for you to have that connection with the LGBT community? I’ve always had it. When I’m asked about it I find it quite difficult to answer because it’s just very normal to me. I was embraced by the community very early on and it was a mutual adoration, just an understanding… I don’t quite know why I was adopted in the way I was but it’s been a beautiful relationship ever since. I couldn’t even tell you how many Pride events I’ve done but they’re always celebratory. I think people always make sure not to forget the importance of why it started… And to be with light minded people is always a great thing. Oh beautiful, I’m getting emotional. But let’s talk about the new album. So you’ve got « Step Back In Time », it’s like a Greatest Hits but it’s also like a bit of a Kylie Minogue « starter pack ». Oh you’re right, no one’s ever said that!… (laughs) So an alien’s landed, or a young person that just has no idea what the history is or who I am… Yeah you’re right it’s a starter pack! 79 www.kylie-world.com

I became a Kylie Minogue fan because of your X album. Did you? I was obsessed with it !! So you came in 2007? 2007 yeah ! Right ‘cause the tour was in 2008. I mean like the track about nudity * Kylie starts singing « play it on your Speakerphone » at the same time *

I love all of them! My mum was so concerned when I became really sassy after that album. She was like « what’s going on ? » So that’s the thing, it kind of becomes this entry point, even though a lot of people will love it for spanning the decades but also for new people as well. Yeah I mean everyone’s different, and with the summer shows that we’re doing, which is as we just mentioned basically a Greatest Hits show, I was aware of this - well I’m always aware of it when I look out at the audience - I think « There’s someone who has been there since day 1 », « There’s someone who probably came in around « X » », or « There’s someone who’s just got on board from « Golden » », like age-wise is a good starting point, it doesn’t necessarily mean that that’s it, like some people are raised on it, but yeah, people have different albums or access points that mean more to them than to someone else, it all differs. So what else would be in a Kylie Minogue starter pack? If we add the album, like what else would you add, snacks, favorite outfit, anything like that? Favourite outfit … Something comfortable (laughs). I’ve spent a lot of my life Isa, Summer 2K19

Interviews • Heat Radio

in uncomfortable things. It’s the aim of the game you’ve got to look good but also, yeah, you’ve got to be comfortable if you’re in it. I’m a gemini, absolutely I am in that bracket. Part of me loves the glamour or the harder edge and there’s a part of me that’s just a hippy, that just wears something that’s muslim and basically a foot from your body in every direction, like a tent. Breathable yeah. Hmm. What else could be in the starter pack? I think you’d have to have a couple of maybe fan cards, like postcards from back in the day when people would write to the fan club… Oh yes !

… And they would join up and they’d get once a month or however often it was, a little kind of postcard set and a letter from me. Oh that would be so cute ! Oh my god. We should bring back the snail mail. Let’s do it! Come on, you can run my fan… Or you know you can lick all the stamps (laughs). Oh that’s the worst bit. We’ll get someone else to do that. Yeah someone else will do it. Is there someone now specifically in music right now that you would love to duet with? Tons of people! 80 www.kylie-world.com

Maybe like people wouldn’t think? So many people! I mean there’s so much music happening, it’s festival time so you just go « look at that list of artists » and I love collaborating with whoever the artist is, it could be someone that’s on a kind of pop level like me, or someone completely different, I just don’t know. I’m mentioned before that I’m a huge Gaga fan. I just think she’s the real deal, she’s amazing. But I could equally say that about so many other artists. It’s a tricky question. Sorry Kylie ! Thank you so much. Thank you !
