KYMBERLY WARE 211 E Patterson Avenue, Columbus OH 43210 (614) 827 5799 ware.317@osu.edu During my time as an undergraduate landscape architecture student, I have had the opportunity to work on projects of various scales and land uses. From reimagining farm ecologies to designing fish habitats, these design projects have deepened my appreciation for this multifaceted field. The following portfolio is a selection of work throughout my time in the BSLA program that encompasses past studio projects, work that is currently in progress, and some visual communication projects from my jobs and internships.

Austin House is located in the historic, usonianinspired neighborhood of Rush Creek Village. Set in the lowlands of one of the forested ravines carved out by the unassuming Rush Run, this design brings the experience of Austin House closer to its natural water feature.

30 Autumn 2016 // Representation Seminar Columbus, Ohio

A handrawing exercise of one of Columbus’s ravines revealed the ways in which vegetation density, elevation and sunlight dictated the how spaces within the ravine are defined. Sketches and photos of the site were layered with an AutoCAD plan at differing scales to give the drawing contrast, texture and identity.

32 Autumn 2016 // Representation Seminar Columbus, Ohio

The Cedar Bog Nature Preserve in eastern Ohio was exists because of very specific climatic conditions that are a result of ancient glacial movements across the reigon. Currently, it is on the precipice of losing a large portion of its vegetation due to climate change. During a hand drawing study with Roland Gustavson, several sketches of specific species found at the site as well as edge conditions were produced.

34 WORK IN PROGESS Spring 2019 // Studio Western High Plains Ecoreigon

Prior to colonial settlement and intensive agricultural, infratructural and hydrological practices, the High Plains ecoregion was an area of great ecological diversity. With the vision of rewilding the plains along migratory flway routes, this project will project 50 years into the future to propose what the plains can become. The final proposal will result in a travelling exhibition with a modular 15’ representation of the plains in 2075.

36 WORK IN PROGESS Spring 2019 // History + Theory Boston, Massachusetts Much of the area surrounding the Fens as it exists today used to be a salt marsh fed by the Muddy River and Stony Brook, and drained into the Charles River. Olmsted’s vision for the fens design was to evoke native coastal marshlands. This project will examine the textural difference between this former landscape typology and what actually exists today through weaving studies.

SPRING 2018

38 Spring 2018 // Graphic Production Seminar The Albrecht Collection of Historical Architecture is a special collections library at Ohio State that has curated dozens of historical architectural documents and folios for students to peruse. Using the Center for Urban Pedagogy as a precedent, I created this guide to help decode the process of archival research for design students.

In the Spring of 2018, city and regional planning instructor Amber Woodburn commissioned a 2.5 mile drone survey of the 5th avenue corridor in Columbus, OH. After the digital library completed the flight, I stitched together the images to create a 90’ print to be displayed in the main space for planning students to map inconsistencies in infrastructure.

44 Summer 2018 // Metro Parks Work

The Prairie Oaks Metro Park in Columbus was interested in rethinking their park bulletins. During my time there as an intern, I designed 13 large magnetic bulletins that would allow for park management to easily attach rotating announcements, while more long term information was printed onto the material.

46 Spring 2018 // Digital Library Work

In the Spring of 2018, I was asked to help with branding/logos for the Association of Graduate and Professional Administrator (AGPA) summer conference at OSU. Their theme for that year was breaking barriers. I created a logo and banner to be used on their website and email headings.
