Tech Alpharetta (previously the Board. Karen Cashion is CEO of the Alpharetta Technology Tech Alpharetta. Commission), the first organization of its kind in Georgia, was established in 2012 by the City of Alpharetta and is an independent 501(c ) (6) nonprofit organization today. The organization, whose mission is to help grow technology and innovation in Alpharetta, includes a strategic advisory board of Alpharetta’s leading technology companies, and the Tech Alpharetta Innovation Center, a flourishing tech startup incubator that’s home to more than 50 tech startups. Tech Alpharetta also hosts a monthly series of tech thought leadership events for area tech executives. Tech Alpharetta’s startup incubator provides educational programs, mentoring, tech meetups, and investor connections for its more than fifty startup company members. Startup verticals include cyber security, data analytics, manufacturing software, energy, biotech, healthcare IT and medical device, fintech, and many more. Tech Alpharetta’s most recent graduate companies include Oval Edge, which developed a comprehensive data cataloguing and governance software tool, and Maptician, a cloud-based workplace management software startup. Ryan Hollenbeck (Senior Vice President of Global Marketing at Verint) is the Chairman of Tech Alpharetta’s Board, and Felipe Smolka (Executive Vice President, Transformation at LeasePlan USA) is Vice Chairman of Maptician’s co-founder and CEO, Nick Eurek, noted “Tech Alpharetta’s Innovation Center was integral to Maptician’s progress in developing its software, validating market needs and making business connections. There’s no question that Tech Alpharetta’s startup programs significantly contributed to our growth and success and that the time we spent as a tenant member of the Innovation Center helped us to gain momentum and was extremely impactful for us.” Tech Alpharetta launched its popular Women’s Forum program in 2019 to support and connect local female executives in STEM careers. In addition, the organization has recently launched its new Industry Interface Program, whose goal is to encourage collaboration by connecting enterprise companies with its startups. Tech Alpharetta is also supporting STEM education through its partnership with the Innovation Academy, the new Fulton County STEM charter high school scheduled to open in Alpharetta in fall of 2021.
