For more than 150 years, Cobb County has maintained close ties with America’s military might. Today, residents and visiting military personnel, both active and retired, continue to play a vital role in Cobb County’s economy, investing millions of dollars annually.

Dobbins Air Reserve Base is headquarters to a multitude of military and law enforcement organizations, Lockheed Martin and Air Force Plant #6. Dobbins is home to the 94th Airlift Wing, the Georgia Department of Defense, the 22nd Air Force Reserve Headquarters, units of the Air National Guard and Army National Guard, Army, Navy, Marine Corps and Air Force Reserve organizations, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

Lockheed Martin’s presence at Dobbins represents a key national defense advantage because it can quickly and efficiently ramp up aircraft production if the United States is called to engage in a military surge requiring additional aircraft. Dobbins’ 10,000-foot runway, fuel flow capabilities and new control towers are key national defense and emergency response assets, along with Lockheed’s support, engineering and maintenance facilities that have supplemented responses to national and regional crises.
