Graduation

THE ONE that’s here for you every step of the way

Every journey to university is different. We know that the Covid-19 pandemic has made everything feel more complicated and added extra stress to everyone's life, especially students and young people. We are here to try and reduce the impact and stress this might have on your journey to higher education.

No matter what support you need to make the most of your university experience, we are here for you.

With the current circumstances, I am astounded by the support that the staff have given the students in aiding us in our studies. The amount of effort put into online learning has really been appreciated.

Wellbeing support

We have an experienced team of Wellbeing staff who can offer you confidential support and advice for various concerns or difficulties. From helping you with practical everyday matters, through to talking about your mental wellbeing with a counsellor or mental health practitioner, we are here to listen. The team can offer support in person, over the phone or on a video call. We also offer weekly Mindfulness sessions, which are open to all students.

If you have a disability or long term condition, the Disability Advice Team is here to help you access university services, live independently and make the most of student life. We can offer advice if you have previously had adjustments made for you in examinations, or experienced any barriers to learning. Specialist tutoring and mentoring is available to support students receiving the Disabled Students Allowance (DSA).

Faith support

All faiths and belief systems are recognised and respected at York St John University. We are proud to offer multiple spaces around the campus which are used for worship, meditation or reflection. The campus has a chapel, Muslim prayer room, quiet space and peace garden. We celebrate a variety of religious festivals on campus, and the Chaplaincy Team includes Faith Advisors who between them represent most of the major world religions. They are here to support and encourage you, engage in dialogue and promote understanding.

When I was choosing where to come to university, it was important to me to find somewhere with a good student support system. I also wanted to join a smaller course with academic staff who know students on a personal basis. York St John offered me both of these things. When I visited I knew it was the place for me. It was in a beautiful, friendly city and both the staff and students all looked happy to be there.
