Acoustical Consulting Overview

acoustical consulting LaBella has provided architectural acoustics and environmental noise consulting services for 25 years. Our engineers analyze interior spaces to optimize room acoustics, addressing issues such as speech intelligibility, privacy, sound isolation, reverberation, and the enhancement of music. Our projects often consider issues caused by mechanical and electrical equipment. LaBella also offers analysis of outdoor noise impacts, using measurement and modeling tools. We identify the source, and provide mitigation strategies to achieve regulatory compliance. Our clients rely on our expertise to provide creative and budget friendly solutions to meet the needs of various facility types.

Acoustical characteristics of occupied areas should enhance the use of the space. Each type of occupancy has its own acoustical requirements. LaBella works with owners and architects to establish acoustical goals for buildings. We then select the proper acoustical materials and treatments to meet those goals and to satisfy the owner’s aesthetic and budgetary requirements. Through the use of specialized monitoring equipment and acoustical modeling tools, LaBella can predict and compare the effectiveness of different noise reduction treatments and strategies to provide the most cost-effective solutions.

Environmental

Environmental acoustics consulting includes noise impact analyses for new facilities, permit applications, legal cases and community noise complaints. LaBella uses CadnaA acoustical analysis software for calculation, presentation, assessment and prediction of environmental noise. We can predict environmental noise levels from multiple sources, while accounting for all common attenuation factors, such as topography, barriers, buildings and atmospheric attenuation.

Gymnasiums Proper acoustical materials control excessive noise levels and echo in gymnasiums. Announcements can be heard clearly, and gyms can be used for non-athletic purposes where sound clarity is essential.

Hospitality Environments Poor acoustics in restaurants, hotels, and retail can create excessive noise levels, hinder speech intelligibility and create an unpleasant atmosphere for customers.

Conference Rooms Good conference room acoustics can make the difference between a successful conference call and an unintelligible one. Rooms should be designed for clear, audible discourse and preserve privacy from adjacent spaces.

Music Rooms The correct selection of acoustic treatment is critical to control high sound levels and to produce good “blend, so that each musician can hear the whole ensemble.

HVAC Noise and Vibration HVAC systems create noise-quiet soothing white noise or objectionable hiss, rumble and vibration. Objectionable noise can interfere with occupant use, comfort and productivity. LaBella can review HVAC design to head off problems before a system is built, or we can develop the most costeffective solution to solve existing noise problems of a poorly designed system.

Environmental Noise Analysis LaBella performs exterior noise assessments, monitoring, and compliance verification for a wide range of facilities, including power plants, substations, and gas compression and industrial facilities.
