Coronavirus It is a virus which cause middle east respiratory syndrome ( MERS coV) . (1)
What is the Source and how the virus transmits ? • The source of virus almost animal and it can be transmitted to human. It's related to bats and transmits to camels at a time before . (1) • The virus can transmit from one to another specially in close contact . (1)
Transmission
Symptoms • The infection is vary between asymptomatic and mild to severe acute respiratory disease and death .(1) • Atypical situation virus of disease is fever, cough and shortness of breath.(1) • Gastrointestinal symptoms including diarrhea. Breathing difficulties 3-7 days from onset of symptoms Sudden onset of high fever (>38°C) & dry cough
Chills and shivering & muscle aches
How to diagnose? • Real-time reverse-transcription polymerase chain reaction (rtPCR) :to detect presence of virus for active infection.(2) • Sample: nasopharyngeal swab.(2) • Serology test : the presence of antibodies to MERS-CoV indicates that a person had the virus before. (2)
What is the treatment ? There is no treatment or vaccine available. There is only supportive medicines depending on the patient condition. (1)
How to prevent ? • All hygiene measures should be used to avoid transmission of the virus. (1) • camel products should pasteurized or cooked before eating. (1)
