LOS ALAMOS’ SIGNATURE EVENT Los Alamos ScienceFest features a week of interactive activities, creative competitions, dynamic speakers, community tours, exhibits and educational-flavored social gatherings to engage individuals, families and youth in science. Youth activities throughout the festival will encourage interest in science, technology, engineering, and math. Festival producer Los Alamos MainStreet is partnering with community businesses and organizations to present events throughout the county from Sept 5 – 13, culminating in ExpoDay at Los Alamos’ Ashley Pond. ExpoDay is a family-fun day where attendees can visit tents with non-stop interactive science demonstrations, kids activity area, music, food, beverages and performances.

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE 2015 FESTIVAL Los Alamos ScienceFest, once known as the Next Big Idea Festival, is expanding in 2015. Previously a single day-long festival with a stand alone STEM Student Day, this new event will be bigger and better than ever. Programming is expanding so to draw larger crowds, more out of town visitors, and greater exposure for your organization. Here is a series of highlights for the upcoming festival. Plans for the event are still in process so as we come closer and closer to festival week plans may morph and change as necessary. • Multiple organizations and groups are planning events throughout the festival week that will appeal to kids, teenagers, young adults, adults and entire families. Interactive and insightful activities and discussions will take place in varying locations throughout the county of Los Alamos. Activities with themes ranging from family fun, deep conversation, community tours and scientific art will ensure there is something for everybody to do. • A concert will draw the crowd downtown the night of Friday, July 17, coinciding with previously mentioned programming and kicking off ExpoDay on Saturday. • ExpoDay, Saturday, July 18th, at Ashley Pond in downtown Los Alamos is the festival’s culminating event with more than 60 exhibitors and organization providing interactive, hand-on activities showcasing science, technology, engineering and math throughout New Mexico.
