(iii) Understanding AIESEC AIESEC’s Overriding Mission Peace and fulfilment of humankind’s potential a. Peace • In today’s world, the first part of our mission of peace will be achieved through the enhancement of cultural awareness and understanding facilitated through AIESEC’s international exchange opportunities, including both short-term overseas volunteering and long-term professional internship placements in a foreign country. • Through the deep cultural immersion and integration of diverse languages, cultures, norms and customs that our exchange participants experience, this will help break down cultural barriers and lead to an increased appreciation and understanding of other cultures. b. Fulfilment of humankind’s potential • The second part of our mission translates into developing the leadership potential of youth through active engagement in international professional internships and global community development programs. • We believe that giving youth the opportunity to make a positive societal impact on developing communities, through programs such as English and cultural awareness education, will also foster personal, cultural, and professional development. • What makes AIESEC unique – students are continually challenged to step up and become youth leaders. As a youth run organisation, we offer a wide variety of leadership roles and international opportunities for young people, creating a powerful youth-driven experience.
