The Zaha Hadid Collection for Lacoste is a unique collaboration fusing heritage and elegance with dramatic modernity

The collaboration began with a digitized interpretation of the iconic crocodile logo. Zaha Hadid’s research team then used this as a basis to explore a series of surfaces with repeated patterns.

The Lacoste legend was born in 1933, when René Lacoste revolutionised men’s fashion by creating the classic Lacoste 12.12 polo shirt. 75 years on, and the Lacoste name has become synonymous with relaxed elegance and style. The crocodile logo incarnates today the elegance of the champion, René Lacoste, and adorns a range of apparel, footwear and lifestyle collections.

Zaha Hadid was awarded the Pritzker Architecture Prize (considered to be the Nobel Prize of architecture) in 2004. Each of her dynamic and innovative projects builds on over 30 years of revolutionary experimentation and research in the interrelated fields of urbanism, architecture and design. Hadid’s work constantly tests the boundaries of architecture and design. Hadid’s interest is in the rigorous interface between architecture, landscape and geology as the practice integrates natural topography and human-made systems that lead to experimentation with cutting-edge technologies. Such a project often results in unexpected and dynamic architectural forms moulded by the realities of site and building requirements.
