The Care That Children Deserve

El municipio de Santa Eulària des Riu tiene interiorizado desde hace años que su desarrollo ha de tener como eje principal el cuidado de su infancia. Obtener el sello de Unicef como Ciudad Amiga de la Infancia y estar trabajando ya con el cuarto Plan de Infancia y Juventud da una idea de lo que significa para el municipio.

Somos una comunidad que respeta a sus mayores, entiende sus raíces y se siente orgullosa de sus orígenes. De la misma forma, en nuestras políticas públicas y de forma transversal procuramos el cuidado que la infancia se merece y la hacemos partícipe de nuestro crecimiento. Somos, sin duda, una sociedad sana y feliz.

Al final, como resultado del trabajo y la implicación de todos, hay un pueblo que se siente orgulloso de su tipo de vida, de su tierra, que respeta de dónde proviene.

A los hijos de Las Dalias les debe ocurrir lo mismo. Provienen de orígenes diversos, de culturas distintas pero con un mismo estilo de vida, lo que los convierte en una gran familia que se siente unida y orgullosa de su identidad y de la comunidad que son. Y, de la misma forma, su sentimiento de pertenencia a Las Dalias va íntimamente ligado a Sant Carles de Peralta cuya tradición y valores son los de aquella Eivissa auténtica y rural, en donde los tiempos y ritmos de la vida eran otros y que, de forma nostálgica, podemos decir que los convierte en únicos.

The municipality of Santa Eulària des Riu firmly believes that its own development hinges on the care of its children. Our receipt of the UNICEF seal as a Child-Friendly City, paired with the fact that we are already working on our 4th Childhood and Youth Plan, is clearly indicative of what this means for the municipality.

We are a community with a respect for our elders, an understanding of our roots and a sense of pride in our origins. In the same way, through our public policies and across the board, we provide children with the care they deserve and we have made them an active part of our growth. We are, undeniably, a healthy and happy society.

At the end of the day, everyone’s work and involvement has made for a town that is proud of its way of life and its land. A town that honours its origins.

The same thing must apply to the children of Las Dalias. They come from different origins, from different cultures, yet they share a lifestyle. This makes them all part of a large family that feel close and proud of their identity and the community they form. And, to the same extent, their feeling of belonging to Las Dalias is inextricably connected to Sant Carles de Peralta, whose tradition and values echo those of the authentic, rural Eivissa of the past. A place where time and the pace of life were different, and which, through the prism of life today, makes them nostalgically unique.
