Your time at LEH is about so much more than the brilliant and inspiring education you’ll receive in the classrooms; it’s about throwing yourself into everything the School has to offer.
And it has a lot to offer! As part of our mission to encourage pupils to be bold, resilient, and engaged, our extra-curricular provision is quite deliberately wide-ranging, demanding, enriching and invigorating. We hope that there is a club, society, or activity to cater for every taste, including rewarding pursuits which allow you to contribute to the wider life of the school, the local community and well beyond.
From Astrophysics to Mandarin; from building robots to saving the planet; from fencing to Minecraft; from cappella ensembles to RAF cadets; and from Monologue Mondays to ethical
hacking, there is truly something for everyone. The only challenge is choosing what to do.

We want every student to contribute positively to their House through active participation in House events, which aim to promote our ethos of mutual respect, encouragement, and support.
We hope this guide will help you make the most of the exciting and wide-ranging opportunities on offer; choose sensibly and don’t overload yourself – remember it’s important to balance your chosen activities with your out of school commitments and your academic work.

Recent projects include creating a lap timer for a slot car racing game and making a smart table lamp.
Warhammer Club is where you can engage in thrilling battles and immerse yourself in the intricate craft of model building. Whether you’re a seasoned strategist or a novice, join us for an exciting journey of assembling, painting, and commanding your own armies.
Would you like to be an RAF cadet? Does the thought of taking part in Parades, learning how to fly, learning Leadership tools, visiting RAF bases and trying out adventurous activities excite you? The LEH CCF aims to provide a disciplined organisation that allows pupils to develop powers of leadership by means of training to promote the qualities of responsibility, self-reliance, resourcefulness, endurance and perseverance. It’s also a great deal of fun. Students from Hampton School and Hampton High are also members of LEH CCF.
You can work towards Bronze, Silver and Gold awards whilst at LEH. Everyone gains different things from the scheme, but there are some common benefits such as self-belief, self-confidence, independence of thought and action, and a sense of responsibility, which really shine through in pupils who have undertaken any of the awards. LEH runs one of the largest Duke of Edinburgh programmes in London. Develop new skills, engage in service and volunteering, work as part of a team and really challenge yourself on expedition.
At LEH, rowing is more than just a sport. Open to all skill levels, it’s an opportunity to build character, resilience, and lifelong friendships. The LEH Boat Club is one of the most prestigious and successful girls rowing teams in the country, with a history of winning back-to-back National Championships and racing at Henley Royal Regatta. Help the most vulnerable people around the world affected by disasters by mapping the areas which then helps first responders and NGOs deliver aid and assistance.
Each year, disasters around the world kill nearly 100,000 and affect or displace 200 million people. Many of the places where these disasters occur are literally ‘missing’ from open and accessible maps and first responders lack the information to make valuable decisions regarding relief efforts. Missing Maps is an open, collaborative project in which you can help to map areas where humanitarian organisations are trying to meet the needs of people who live at risk of disasters and crises. Missing maps is a great online option for completing your DofE volunteering section.
We concentrate largely on the musical theatre genre and incorporate the work we do on gaining flexibility and strength into our varied dance routines. This activity provides an excellent insight into what is required for the joint annual LEH/Hampton School musical.
Window to the Stars is a club that explores the evolution of stars using professional software that has been made available by Surrey University. We are using Raspberry Pi computers to undertake a project entitled: “How different could stellar hydrogen burning rates be before life becomes unviable on Earth?” This is funded by the Royal Society and pupils participating in this project are exhibiting at a number of student conferences.
Astronomy Club will follow the Edexcel Astronomy Specification. Students will receive textbooks with associated documentation, and useful astronomical tools. We will progress through this well-established course exploring the history of astronomy, making observations, and learning about the Earth, the Moon, the solar system, the galaxy and the wider universe. We will also be connecting to a wider community of astronomers and astrophysicists around the world. Students that commit to completing the whole course (approximately two years), will also be supported in taking the GCSE Astronomy exam.
(CLASSICS SOCIETY)
Our Classics society is open to all years and is held jointly with Hampton School. We meet every week and explore themes or topics from the ancient world, read plays and discuss or debate issues. With the support of UC Berkeley and the Nobel Prize Foundation we will develop a toolkit of cognitive strategies for real-world issues. We will establish a strategic approach through which those with different opinions can find a shared view of reality and thereby arrive at collective solutions. By learning to view the world scientifically students will develop the skills in reasoning and collaboration necessary to deal with the challenges of the 21st century.
PSYCHOLOGY PLUS
In Psychology Plus you get the chance to choose topics of interest outside of the curriculum and have specialist talks and discussion. This will develop your thinking, discussion and understanding around the subject going far beyond the A level specification.

Lower Sixth students act as mentors and learning buddies, supporting and encouraging in each session.
Tea Society provides an opportunity for Sixth Form students to enjoy a wide variety of teas from around the world, and discuss the health and social aspects of tea. Each week has a theme.
