The benefits of a regular yoga practice are endless – here are a few key reasons to practice yoga: • Improves flexibility • Increase strength • Improve posture and core • Prevent cartilage and joint breakdown • Protects your spine • Maintain bone health • Increase blood flow through the entire body • Increase heart rate • Enhance your focus and concentration • Decrease blood pressures • Improve your balance • Strengthen nervous system and immune function • Releases tension and stress • Deeper more restful sleep • Promote self-care and positive self-esteem • Strengthen relationship bonds • Eases pain • Release tension & stress Which style of yoga is most effective and safest for you? Hatha yoga is typically slower and more gentle on the body where postures and poses are held for approximately 2 minutes allowing students time to connect the mind and the body to each posture. This style of practice is easiest to adapt for injuries and conditions. Vinyasa/Flow yoga is about pairing breath with movement to flow from one pose to the next. There are some poses that are held for a few cycles of breath. Poses and postures are adaptable but it is advised to discuss with the instructor or an FJCC trainer prior to attending class. Yin yoga is a slow, deep stretch that can be quite challenging. The emphasis is stretching the connective tissues of the hips, pelvis and lower spine. Poses are held for long durations, between 3-5-10 minutes. Still not sure which is best suited for you or you have more questions regarding our yoga program please contact 250-245.6414 ext. 6237.
