Hip Hop
Hip-hop is a dance style usually danced to hip-hop music, having evolved from the hip-hop culture. Youth Programs Youth Zone
There are a variety of exciting recreational and social activities for preteens ages 10-12yrs and teens ages 13-18yrs at Youth Zone, with gym activities, sports equipment, pool tables, foosball tables, ping-pong tables, card and board games, and a gaming system, TV and DVD players for special nights. Youth are welcome to attend and no registration is required. Youth Zone is a safe place to hang out with frequent special events including- theme nights, ice cream, games tournaments, and more! Aquatic Information Aquatic Information
Four-lane, 25-metre pool heated at 28°C (82-83°F) Features: diving board • slides • rope swing • aquatic lift • basketball hoops • removable stairs • climbing wall • water run-ways. Therapy pool accessible by ramp; heated at 34°C (94°F) and has a shallow end depth of zero sloping to four feet (aquatic wheelchairs are available for moving from change rooms into therapy pool.) Whirlpool is a combination of turbulent air & 40°C (104°F) water pumped into the pool. The Sauna is a hot, dry, relaxing area kept at an average of 55°C (131°F). **Children under 7 years must be accompanied in water and within arm’s reach of parent or person 19 years plus. (2 children/1 adult)**
Aquatic Fitness Benefits Water Resistance - Using the resistance of water in exercise is like exercising with weights or machines on land but safer. Buoyancy - Approximately 90% of your body weight is buoyant; you are bearing only 10% of your weight when exercising in chest deep water, which reduces stress on your joints and muscles. Social - Social connections have proven health benefits. Stress Relief - The soothing comfort of the water aids alleviates mental and emotional stresses. Fun - The aquatic environment and facility atmosphere make it a great place to laugh & have fun while doing something great for your mind and body. Cooling Effect - With continuous movement in cool water your body won’t overheat. Therapeutic - Exercise in water safely enables and assists you in the recovery from injury, surgery and illness. It also helps to combat the aging process and has amazing mental therapeutic value. There are many aquatic fitness aids to maximize the effect of exercise, including removable stairs and an aquatic lift into the main pool, aquatic wheelchairs to help navigate the ramp into the therapy teach pool. There are also massaging jets available in the therapy pool.

Aquatic Courses Red Cross Aquadults... Are you tired of just dipping your toes into the water? Or going to the beach, lake or pool and having your friends or child swim circles
around you? Open up a new water world for yourself. Whether you are a ‘scared stiff’ beginner or quite comfortable in the water but need a little bit of help to improve technique allowing for greater efficiency and stamina, these classes are for you.

CPR’C’ Recertification

All levels of swimmers welcome. Workouts are based on structured swim progressions with a focus on stroke technique and efficiency. Distances are based on personal skill and ability. Participate in an interactive learning environment. Candidates will learn techniques in First Aid and CPR. Aquatic and Fitness Class Intensity Levels
The intensity levels are used as a guideline. Each individual may choose to work at their own pace. Warm up is an important component of your workout - please show up on time for your classes. Restorative - restorative fitness, no impact. May require medical clearance. Perhaps the use of a mobility aid, health issues to consider
Adaptive Fitness A program for clients with arthritis and other mobility limiations. Take advantage of our qualified, experienced staff that have the expertise to personalize your workout by accommodating individual needs.
Gentle - beginner level, very low impact, low cardio intensity, rehabilitative fitness, some classes may require medical clearance. Perhaps the use of a mobility aid, health issues to consider.

Participants combine cardiovascular work, deep-water running, jogging, bicycling and cross-country skiing movements. Class focuses on muscular strength motions that work the body’s major muscle groups as well as motions that work the core and balance. A buoyancy belt is required to create and maintain proper balance and posture.

Drop in Fitness Classes... The fitness programs below are included in any drop in pass or memberships purchased. Cardio Circuit A drop-in ‘do-it-all’ high intensity circuit class that will get your heart pumping while strengthening and toning. Participants visit a variety of stations using different fitness equipment. All stations can be modified to be more or less difficult. This class has a spontaneous, unchoregraphed style that appeals to everybody. This is a high intensity class and people with mobility issues or injuries should speak to a fitness trainer before participating.

Fitness Lite 1 & 2 This class is low impact and fun! Easy on the joints with slower, fluid movements. Easy 10 minute warm-up, followed by 20 minutes of joint friendly cardio, 20 minutes of strength training, and 10 minutes of stretching. Retro Cardio Come in for a full body workout based on traditional aerobic format. Warm up, choreographed cardio, followed by a segment of strength training using dumbbells, fit tubes, medicine balls and your own bodyweight! A well deserved relaxation/stretch completes the mind body connection. Yoga - Fitness This class is a wonderful way to stretch and strengthen, blending Hatha Yoga postures in a Vinyasa Flow style of class. This class is suitable for all fitness levels. Bring your own yoga mat, blocks and straps if you have them. Saturday Spin ** This 45 minute non-registered class will teach you the basics of indoor cycling. Registration & Admission Information Registration
Full payment is required at time of registration. Payment is accepted by cheque, credit card, debit card, or cash. All registrations are processed on a first-come, first-served basis. Register early to avoid cancellation or disappointment.

Cancellations
Programs are subject to cancellation due to insufficient registration. If this occurs, a full refund will be issued. In the event that a program or an individual class is cancelled, every attempt will be made to have the class or program rescheduled.
Refunds
Refunds may be given for withdrawals prior to the start of the program unless a refund/withdrawal deadline is noted. Prorated refunds may be given once the program begins. If more than half the program has elapsed, no refund or credit will be offered.
Co-sponsored Programs
No credit or refund shall be granted after the program start date.
Leisure Access Program
Parks, Recreation & Culture is committed to providing accessible & affordable recreation programs. Families living within Town boundaries with a combined family income at or below the Statistics Canada Low Income Threshold are eligible to apply for the Leisure Access Program. Fitness Centre and Aquatic Passes
10x and 30x Passes - Punch passes are transferable and do not expire. Monthly Passes - Monthly passes are non-transferable and non-refundable. No ‘holds’ permitted for 1 month passes. 3 and 6 month passes can be placed on ‘hold’ for a minimum of two week one time per pass. 12 month passes can be placed on ‘hold’ for a minimum of two weeks two times per pass. ALL PASSES CAN BE USED IN BOTH THE POOL AND FITNESS CENTRE, AS WELL AS ANY DROP-IN FITNESS CLASSES
