Cancellations Cancellations or changes to scheduled drop-in visits will be accepted up until 24 hours before the scheduled session. Refunds or appointment changes will not be made within 24hrs.

Programs are subject to cancellation due to insufficient registration or changes in facility operation. If this occurs, a full refund will be issued. Smart Moves (birth-12months)

Come and have lots of fun with your infant while becoming informed about physical activities that you can do at home to enhance your child’s learning potential. Some topics and developmental activities that will be covered include the vestibular (balance) system, proprioception (awareness of body in space), mid-line movements, and vision. Each class will include fun songs and rhymes, baby yoga, and tummy time games that are developmentally appropriate and strengthen your baby’s physical, cognitive, social and emotional foundations for early learning. Youth Programs General Interest Red Cross Babysitter Training (11-16yrs)

The Canadian Red Cross Babysitting course covers everything from managing difficult behaviors to essential content on leadership and professional conduct as a babysitter. Babysitting promises to deepen and enhance the responsibility that older youth feel when caring for younger children. This updated curriculum, complete with new science, also provides improved learning when it comes to giving the appropriate care in the event of an emergency. Red Cross Stay Safe! (9-13yrs)

Real-world scenarios often call on children to respond to challenges. Drop-in (Registered) Aquatic Visits Early Bird/Noon Length Swim

Kick start your day with some early morning laps or get your kilometer of lengths in at lunch. To allow for physical distancing, there will be four lanes; casual, slow, medium and fast with three patrons per lane. Staggered starts will ensure 2m between swimmers. Overtaking is not permitted - please pick the lane most appropriate for your swim speed.

Leisure Swim

If you need the warmth of the Therapy Teach Pool to loosen up your muscles, decrease the gravity on your joints, to work on pre or post-surgery exercises or just to get in some unassisted walking with the support of the water then the Ladysmith Leisure Swim is for you. Please note: if you require assistance to and from the change room or in and out of the pool, you will be required to have an aid with you to assist you. Your aid will need to be registered in the same session you are attending. Please register by phone.

Parent and Tot Swim

Do you have a tiny human who needs to burn off energy in the morning? We have just the thing to make that happen while having fun in the pool! The Parent & Tot swim is geared towards children not yet school aged and their caregiver. Space is limited so register early!

Grab your swimsuit and sign up for a session of fun at the pool. The diving board, climbing wall and slides are available. Due to COVID-19 protocols, the hot tub, sauna, and spray features in the therapy teach pool will be unavailable. Children 7yrs+ can attend unaccompanied, children under 7yrs must be accompanied by an adult 19yrs+ (2 children/1 adult).

These invigorating, impact-free classes work and tone all muscle groups. Participants combine cardiovascular work, deep-water running, jogging, bicycling and cross-country skiing movements. Class focuses on muscular strength motions that work the body’s major muscle groups as well as motions that work the core and improve balance. Our Aquatic Fitness Programs are scheduled MONTHLY, allowing you to register for a smaller period (average 3-4 classes). Rules and regulations surrounding COVID-19 do not allow for drop-in participation at this time. Registration allows instructors to properly prepare for class sizes, and allows the team to communicate to participants any changes to programming or additional safety measures that may arise. Please note, at this time, all participants must: • Pre-register for sessions. No dropins will be permitted. • Agree to the Assumption of Risk Waiver at the time of registration. • Pre-screen for health at home and do not attend if you are feeling unwell, even slightly, and/or if anyone in your household is ill. • Hand sanitize when you enter/exit. • Bring your own water bottle and towel. We also suggest bringing minimal personal items. • Refrain from visiting after class.

Swimming Lessons Ladysmith Parks, Recreation and Culture is very excited to offer swimming lessons this spring. Due to Provincial Health protocols and guidelines, swimming lessons look a bit different this season. Some of these changes are: • ALL PRE-SCHOOL LEVELS AND SWIM KIDS LEVELS 1-4 ARE PARENTED. Because our instructors are not to have direct contact with children in the class, having an adult in the water with each child in these younger levels allows the instructor to effectively teach the class. • Smaller class sizes than usual to allow for physical distancing. • Class sets are shorter than usual allowing for more class options and more children to attend. • No progress cards or badges will be issued. Swimmers receive an orientation to water and the pool area and work on floats, glides and kicking. Swimmers build their endurance by working on the 5m front swim.

Basic Orientation

Youth Training Program

Are you new to fitness or new to our facility? Our basic orientation is the perfect program to get you started and comfortable in this new environment. During this one hour session you will learn: • how to use our cardio equipment • safe technique and set-up of our strength training machines • effective stretches for your body • how to read your basic total body exercise program

Youth ages 13-15 are welcome to use the Fitness Centre upon completion of the Youth Training Program. The program requirements are as follows: Step 1: Complete the Par-Q+ and Code of Conduct forms. Step 3: Strength Training with Machines - program includes: • Youth to demonstrate a few exercies from their body weight program to ensure Youth has comprehended, adapted and is practicing safe exercise technique. • Introduction to the strength training machines. • Safe stretches. ABSOLUTELY NO FREE WEIGHTS, DUMBBELLS, PLATES OR BARBELLS ARE PERMITTED UNTIL YOUTH IS 16 YEARS. CABLES ARE LIMITED.

Yoga is a wonderful way to stretch and relax the body. This class blends Hatha yoga poses in a Vinyasa Flow style.
