Feëverhale meer werklik as dienslewering
Die Groter Tzaneen Munisipaliteit (GTM) het onlangs drie nuwe voertuie aangeskaf om dienslewering ‘n hupstoot te gee. Maar dit wil eerder blyk asof die dorp stellig oppad is na ‘n hoësorgeenheid teen die pas van agteruitgang wat plaasvind.
Menige inwoners van hierdie dorp, veral oud-inwoners, sal getuig dat hierdie dorp drasties agteruitgegaan het wat die gebrek aan dienslewering en instanthouding van infrastruktuur aanbetref. Veral in die laaste dekade.

Skeptiese inwoners, veral op die GTM se Facebook tydlyn, het tydens hul aankondiging van die nuwe diensleweringvoertuie hul misnoë oor die munisipaliteit se flou dienslewering gelewer. En met alle reg.
Dis net nog ‘n bewys van die GTM se mislukkings om dienslewering toe te pas, is die lamppaal in Voortrekkerlaan, feitlyk skuins oorkant die Lifestyle inkopiesentrum, wat met plante, tot bo by die kop wat die gloeilamp huisves, oorgroei is. Snaaks genoeg, die gloeilamp werk wel.
Hierdie plante het nie oornag gegroei nie, maar het stelselmatig oor etlike maande hul weg na bo gegroei. Wat weereens net ‘n bewys is van die GTM se onbevoegdheid om dienslewering effektief toe te pas. En tog word daar van die belastingbetaler verwag om daarvoor op te dok.
Waarom daar navrae gerig moet word as iets nie in plek is soos wat dit moet wees nie, gaan die verstand te bowe. Dit is dan die munisipale amptenare wat daarvoor aangestel is se plig om toe te sien dat dienste effektief gelewer word, en nie deur die media, opposisie partye, burgerregtegroepe of die publiek aangemaan word nie.
Snaaks dat nie ‘n enkele van die munispale amptenare, wanneer hul in hul spogmotors gaan inkopies doen, of enige een van die opposisie partye se raadslede, al reeds die oorgroeide lamppaal opgemerk het nie wat soos ‘n middelvinger in die gesigte van Tzaneen se inwoners en belastingbetalers uitstaan.
Die GTM het na afloop van die nuwe voertuie wat in ontvangs geneem is, aangekondig dat dit nie die laaste aankoop van nuwe vlootvoertuie is nie, maar dat daar in die nabye toekoms selfs meer voertuie aangeskaf gaan word om dienslewering te verbeter.
Wel, die GTM is seker van mening dat baie van die dorp se inwoners ook in feëverhale glo.
