FOREWORD BY THE FEI PRESIDENT
On behalf of the Fédération Equestre Internationale, welcome to Oslo for the first out of 14 qualifiers making up the Longines FEI Jumping World Cup™ Western European League 2023/2024. In the coming days, we will be witnessing the thrilling action that comes with Jumping, as athletes aim for precious FEI World Cup™ points, in the hope of being part of the Final in Riyadh (KSA), 16-20 April 2024.
The FEI Jumping World Cup™ is a series with tremendous history and prestige created in 1978, which then extended to the disciplines of Dressage (since 1985) and Driving (since 2001). The concept is simple, a global series where athletes compete at multiple events in order to earn their place at the final alongside the world’s best athletes and a shot at the ultimate indoor trophy in each of the disciplines.
The format of the FEI World Cup™ series guarantees edge of your seat competitions while showcasing the fantastic bond between horse and human; the trust, communication, hard work and patience involved. It is this bond which enables impressive feats of athleticism to be achieved and the core around which the whole FEI community revolves.
This new season will once again be filled with fantastic sporting moments, and I would like to thank Longines most sincerely for their ongoing support, which continues to be significant in securing the growth and success of Equestrianism. Together, we are advancing the legacy of this tremendous series whose appeal continues to stretch into new territories, attracting many new fans along the way.
My gratitude also goes to Morten Gjerdrum Aasen and his team along with all the officials, supporters and volunteers for their hard work and dedication. Without your enthusiasm and expertise, our sport would not be able to thrive as it does. Lastly, I would like to pay tribute to all horse-owners and breeders, who with their skill and support, have truly contributed to lifting the profile of FEI Jumping all around the world.
I wish all athletes and their invaluable support teams, the very best of luck, and to all the fans, I hope you enjoy every minute our sport has to offer!
