Macedon Ranges Newsletter Term 2 2011 Network News: 7th June, 2011 Dear Colleagues, Welcome to the Conference to those who are able to attend. We have a few matters to discuss and those are listed below. Leaders in the Making: The first meeting of this group will be held tomorrow night ­ Wednesday, 8th June at the Victoria Hotel in Woodend. The meeting will be a get­to­know, workshop and Ron Lake will speak on his journey as a leader. Phillip Holmes­Smith: As part of the ‘Leaders in the Making Program’ we (Goldfields and our Network) have booked Phillip Holmes Smith for Monday, 29th August to present for the day. The day will be for the participants of the Program but also for approximately 12 Principals in each of the Networks. The day will be held at the Regional Office and there will be no charge for participants. School visits: For Term 3 I have 3 volunteers – Riddells Creek, Redesdale Mia Mia and Gisborne SC (which I would rather ‘hold’ until Term 4). The visits will be on Monday, August 8.

Secondary Project: Both Secondary Colleges have finalised their Project Plans and the first Reporting session will be on Wednesday, 15th June. Cluster meetings: The Cluster meetings for this term are as follows: Cluster A – 16/6 – 12:00 at Zarby’s, Woodend. Cluster B ­21/6 ­ 8:00­10:00 at Kaddy’s, Kyneton. Cluster C ­ 22/6 – 8:00­10:00 at Macedon PS. Secondary Cluster –17/6 – 8:00­10:00 at Gisborne SC. Executive meeting – 13/5 ­ 8:30­10:30 at Colenso, Woodend Principal vacancies: New Gisborne has provisionally appointed Jonathan Lowe as Principal commencing in Term 3. Kyneton SC are currently completing the process with the School Council meeting to hopefully endorse the successful candidate on Thursday, June 9. Instructional Round: This will be held at Lancefield Primary on Thursday, June 23rd. Anne Cunniff will be assisting me with this. Ron’s offer: We will be discussing this further in this meeting.


Macedon Ranges Newsletter Term 2 2011 – page 2 2011­2012 Principal Plans: I will share mine (along with the Network AIP) once I it is approved by Julie Baker. We will discuss in this meeting the focus from a Region perspective. Wannik Absence Data: This is a reminder that schools who have Koorie students need to forward attendance data on the 7t h of each month to me and I then forward it to Rick Simms. CCLLEN offer: Boyd Maplestone, who is responsible for the CCLLEN has made an offer to the Executive to attend a meeting at the Shire Offices in Kyneton on Tuesday, June 28from 2:00­4:00 to formulate a ‘Macedon Ranges Parent Engagement Committee’. He would also like a parent representative and a School Councillor. Teacher Professional Leave: There is a meeting regarding Teacher Professional Leave (TPL) to be held on Tuesday, June 21 at Kyneton PS from 4:00­5:00. Kind regards, Sue.
