It’s been another successful year of w to remove barriers for students. In 20 2024, Lakehead University’s Achieve Program delivered impactful program 380 active participants from 40 diffe schools in and around Thunder Bay increase of 25% from last year
This year's highlights include a signif milestone: the recruitment of three p staff mentors who are also Achievem Program alumni. It is a remarkable tu point to have former students who ha benefited from the Program to now contribute to their delivery

Lakehead held the second annual Indigenous Cultural Celebration, summer camp, student speaker series, high school conference, and our 6th annual Career & Undergraduate Exploration Day A new initiative was launched called “After School With the Thunderwolves,” which focuses on reaching participants in grade 9 and above

The Achievement Program hosted a three-day conference for high school students Fifteen students participated in the conference that focused on team building and leadership activities, True Colours Personality quiz and discussion, goal setting, resume and interviewing, career pathway exploration, and participation in the Lakehead orientation at Lake Tamblyn.
Students were provided with breakfast and lunch each day along with access to transportation if needed The number of high school participants continues to grow, helping more students develop key skills that will equip them to succeed in high scho and beyond.
Indigenous Cultural Celebration Night

Program students and their families attended the 2024 Indigenous Cultural Celebration Night, which included complimentary tickets to see Lakehead’s men’s hockey team facing off against Wilfrid Laurier University The event celebrated the Achievement Program families as well as Indigenous culture, and was a great way to connect and celebrate the families, bring them to campus events in a fun and exciting atmosphere, and showcase the Program to members of the community

The Achievement Program staff team visit all of the Program’s students in 40 different schools to bring lunch and hands-on activities programming that’s key to building long-term connections with the students. This year’s programming focused on:

At this annual event designed to help students decide which degree or career pathway they might wish to pursue, students participated in Undergraduate Recruitment, visited Athletics for some recreational activities, and had a financial literacy session with the Early Outreach Coordinator. Speed networking sessions gave students a taste of many different areas of study in a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere
