Gulf Harbour Marina Explore Florida’s Intracoastal Waterway.

Set on what used to be a 500-acre gladiolus flower farm on the banks of the Caloosahatchee River, Gulf Harbour Yacht & Country Club boasts some of the best real estate on the Intracoastal Waterway.

Founded in 1995, Gulf Harbour Yacht & Country Club was soon developed to include a marina, adjoining condominium association for each of its 186 slips, the Country Club, and eventually 23 different neighborhoods that range in price from $175,000 to multi-million dollar properties.

Along with its posh surroundings and country club’s private golf, tennis and fitness center, Gulf Harbour Marina’s prime attraction is its location and access to incredible dayboating or cruising adventures.

“Located on the Intracoastal Waterway, you can cruise for hundreds of miles in protected waters to dozens of destinations with marinas, hundreds of anchorages [with] day trips to the beaches, restaurants and resorts,” says Greg Callaway, founder of Gulf Properties, LLC, which exclusively sells real estate and boat slips in the Gulf Harbour community.

Callaway’s family cruises the waterways extensively on their 44-foot Tollycraft powerboat. “Gulf Harbour Marina is only about five miles to the Gulf of Mexico and the barrier islands of Fort Myers Beach and Sanibel-Captiva,” he adds. “Or, if an extended cruise is on your charts, head straight south to Key West and the Florida Keys or across the state on the Intracoastal to the East Coast and the Bahamas.”

While the country club is private, the marina is open to transient boats, and offers concrete floating docks, a diesel and gas fuel dock, and is staffed seven days a week. Its 186 deep-water slips can accommodate boats up to 97 feet in length.

Ranked the No. 1 place to retire by U.S. News and World Report, it’s easy to see why Fort Myers — and Gulf Harbour, in particular — is such a relaxing and delightful paradise to explore. ★
