FROM THE HEAD OF SCHOOL
Dear Parent,
There are few parental decisions as consequential as choosing a school for one’s child 17,000 hours of a student’s life by the time they are 18 will be spent at school Who will share these hours with your student? What will be their priorities, values, and goals for your child? What will they model for your sons and daughters? A wise educational philosopher declared years ago that “our students will practice what we practice and preach what we preach.” Teachers and coaches modeling the life of a disciple of Jesus will be as formative in the life of your student as the content of our lessons in Bible, History, Mathematics, Science and English. Will these teachers and coaches support and reinforce what you are teaching and modeling at home?
the life they will live after they leave your care and that of our ’s experience will include great successes and heartbreaking and the joy of new discoveries, and above all, vital peer and adult ild through these times of tribulation and celebration? What will munity seeking to reflect the Kingdom of God, which Jesus seeking to reflect the kingdom of the world with its declaration o desires regardless of the wisdom and counsel of Scripture?
Our mission is to educate students in the light of God’s Word to equip them for a lifetime of learning, leadership, service, and worship ” To this end, LCS offers a unique educational value that provides students with a Christ-centered community dedicated to shepherding the hearts and sharpening the minds of our students through challenging academics, robust community life, engaging fine arts, and competitive athletics. Our commitment is to equip our students to be a faithful presence of the Gospel as doctors, politicians, business men and women, teachers, lawyers, builders and developers, engineers and electricians, and husbands and fathers, wives and mothers.
Parents today have more options than ever as they seek the best school for their children. We invite your careful consideration of what LCS has to offer your family. If we have a shared vision for the growth and development of your student, let’s partner!! We place a strong emphasis on our partnership with families and the parent-school communication necessary to support this partnership. You may contact Mrs. Julie Rice, Director of Enrollment, for a tour of our facilities and a personal conversation that may help you make the best schooling decision for your child. Thank you for your interest in Lakeland Christian School. We look forward to getting to know your family.
In His Grace,
Bryant Black Head of School
“Lakeland Christian most certainly provides a strong education that is definitely preparing our children for college. More importantly, LCS provides that strong education in the Light of God's Word. The teachers, administration and staff don't just say they have a love for God and His Word...they live it! They truly love and care for our children in ALL their needs: spiritual, emotional, physical and of course educational."
The mission of Lakeland Christian School is to educate students in the light of God's Word to equip them for a lifetime of learning, leadership, service and worship.
We believe that the mission of Lakeland Christian School requires a partnership with our school families. We believe that the home, the school and the church must work in partnership as we educate children in the light of God's Word.
Students are encouraged to place their faith in Christ as their personal Savior and to interpret all of life from a biblical perspective. This conveys an understanding that a relationship with God is established by God's grace through a personal faith in the work of Christ on the cross. The gospel shapes our relationship with God, our fellow man and the world in which we live.
parent partnership
Shared Goals | School & Home Partnership | Cooperative Spirit Academic Record | Disciplinary Record | K4, K5 & First Grade
Our admissions standards reflect our commitment to serve as a partner with the home and the local church in the Christian education of our students. We believe that LCS is most effective when working with families who share the spiritual and academic goals of the school.
We are a covenant model Christian school. As such, LCS partners with Christian parents in the education and training of their children. Fundamentally, this partnership requires that at least one parent be a professing believer in Jesus Christ as his or her Savior and Lord. The theology, the set of beliefs undergirding this covenant partnership, informs all aspects of school life, including student admission and retention policies. We expect every student and family to exhibit a cooperative spirit by adhering to the policies and procedures outlined in the Family Handbook
We consider each applicant's academic record to ensure that the student is sufficiently prepared for the instructional program at LCS, and we take into consideration each applicant's behavioral record. Finally, students must meet age and maturity standards of the school as they prepare to enter K4, K5 and first grade.
core value: wisdom through learning
Wisdom through learning means interacting with the world in light of God’s Word with intellectual humility, worship, wonder, and awe. Students learn to ask questions and are able to connect their learning to practical application in life.
This learning is facilitated by our faculty who have professional expertise and are committed to continually growing in their fields. They focus on creating opportunities for students to build character and learn resilience through innovative teaching strategies that promote the 21st century learning skills of collaboration, communication, critical thinking, and creativity.
Wisdom requires cultural intelligence, as well as life and social skills. And this isn‘t just to serve students during their time at Lakeland Christian, but for a lifetime.
core value: spiritual cultivation
Spiritual growth is best achieved when students are able to understand and apply the Word of God to every area of life as they are conformed to the image of Christ. Students are exposed to the full scope of God’s Word, being taught to understand the Scriptures and apply the Word of God to every area of their lives.
Students are given the opportunity to worship and pray together, as well as serve others in the community
Our faculty leverage moments of conflict, disappointment, and discipline to shepherd the hearts of students. The goal is to foster a heart of service, make disciples, and develop leaders.
Core value: Christ-Centered Community
A Christ-centered community is characterized by a culture of grace and truth that promotes humility and confidence by holding each other accountable in love. Students are taught to value people in the way God has made them, and to serve and care for one another in unity.
This community delights in and celebrates diversity as an expression of the image of God and the body of Christ which is the church There is a focus on protecting the physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being of others.
Community is also facilitated through learning across grade levels, as well as by partnering with families in the education process.
“We
chose and continue to choose Lakeland Christian for teaching students in the Light of God's Word, the academics, the sports, the teachers and the family that LCS has become to us."

Middle School (Grades 6-8)
Middle School Academics
More than an in-between, middle school is the time when our students learn to build friendships, develop grit when faced with adversity, and discover the gifts our Father in heaven has given each child for service and worship in His Kingdom. These years matter. It’s a time when they’ll seek independence, be challenged to maturity, and be stretched to handle bigger responsibilities. The curriculum prepares students for the rigors of high school academics Math, science, language arts, social studies, and Bible are taught at each level. All students in grades 6-12 receive a school-issued Chromebook to enhance this program.
Beginning in sixth grade, students start exploring electives through the wheel classes (keyboarding, performing arts, art and Intro to RISE). Seventh and eighth grade students may take electives including PE, band, choir, Spanish, computers, living skills, yearbook, agriculture, art, and robotics Students may participate in a variety of sports, the piano, vocal and instrumental music program, entrepreneurship, and middle school clubs on campus.
Teachers at LCS work diligently to build strong relationships with our middle schoolers. Inside and outside the classroom, they explore every child’s unique learning style and interests to create a dynamic academic experience Through our advisory program, teachers encourage students to take ownership of their learning and develop leadership skills by providing academic and social emotional support, while fostering a sense of community.
High School (Grades
9-12)
High School Academics
Our academic program is designed to challenge students of varying needs and abilities. It is designed to prepare them for college, career, and God's sovereign calling. Each of our courses start with state and national standards, however, as an independent Christian school, our teachers have the opportunity to shape the curriculum to foster a biblical worldview in each student. From those standards and our biblical worldview integration, faculty work backward to design units that develop enduring understandings and help students answer essential questions. Ultimately, students are prepared to perform tasks and convey knowledge that meet curricular transfer goals. The process prepares students to learn, lead, serve, and worship for a lifetime in their communities and the world with Biblical purpose
Community Life
Lakeland Christian School’s athletic program offers opportunities for participation in a wide range of sports for both boys and girls. A complete vocal and instrumental music program is also provided. A unique piano program offers private lessons for students in second through twelfth grade. A keyboard lab is also utilized by students. Other extracurricular activities offer leadership opportunities through The National Honor Society, Math, English, Music, Science, Law and Foreign Language Honor Societies, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, school publications, drama, Mock Trial Team, Robotics, and on-campus clubs. The seniors have the opportunity to bond as a class at their three-day fall retreat and culminate their high school experience with a six-day class mission trip right before commencement.

Special Programs
(Grades 1-12)
Lakeland Christian School understands that students have different academic needs and often learn at different paces. Mild learning disabilities and/or attentional issues can be discouraging for students. Through the Special Programs (SP) Department, LCS seeks to provide support in first through twelfth grades for students who have mild disabilities and are mainstreamed into the rigorous academic curriculum in the general classroom. These services are not included in tuition and require additional fees
Lower School
There are multiple levels of ESE support for students in elementary school that range from consultative services to daily academic support. Certified ESE teachers work with students in first through fifth grade with instruction being offered in the areas of math and reading
Upper School
Students in grades six through twelve are mainstreamed into regular classrooms where subjects are taught at a college preparatory level except for middle school basic classes and high school core classes in math and English. The SP faculty determine the amount of support each student needs in order to progress academically, socially, and emotionally. ESE certified teachers use a whole child approach to learning with an emphasis on skill remediation.
I’m very grateful that my kids are at a Christian school where they can worship in chapel, study God’s Word in Bible classes, and connect with their peers through Bible studies. It’s a joy to see their faith being nurtured daily in such meaningful ways!

SPIRITUAL LIFE & DISCIPLESHIP
Lower School Spiritual Development
At LCS, spiritual growth is at the heart of our mission. Our Bible curriculum, “Building on the Rock,” instills a biblical worldview focused on key Christian beliefs: salvation, the Bible, Jesus, and God. Lessons include age-appropriate instruction, scripture memorization, and activities that help students apply biblical truths, equipping them to live out their faith and share it with others.
Worship and discipleship are integral to our community. Weekly chapel services feature worship led by second and fifth graders, along with messages from local pastors, LCS staff, and students. Special services for Veterans Day, Christmas, and Easter highlight student talents and foster a vibrant spiritual experience.
Our students’ faith is further nurtured during grade-level praise and worship times and through and servant-hearted initiatives, like fourth-grade Candy Cane sale supporting Parker Street Ministries and the Operation Christmas Child shoebox drive by Samaritan’s Purse.
Teachers also participate in weekly Bible studies and devotions, praying for students and sending prayer cards as reminders of God’s love. By fostering a Christ-centered community, LCS equips students and staff to glorify God, grow in faith, and lead with purpose and servant hearts.
Upper School spiritual development
At LCS, spiritual life is the foundation of everything we do. Each week, our students and faculty come together in chapel for worship, prayer, and an inspiring message, fostering a vibrant sense of faith and community. Discipleship is cultivated through meaningful mentoring relationships and opportunities for spiritual growth, encouraging students to live out their faith with intention and purpose.
Bible studies provide a deeper dive into God’s Word, helping students connect Scripture to their daily lives. Our praise band brings energy and heart to chapel and special events, offering students a powerful way to express their faith through music. In Bible classes, students engage with Scripture in ways that shape their worldview and deepen their relationship with God.
This holistic approach to spiritual formation equips our students to grow in faith, build Christ-like character, and prepare to lead as servant-hearted individuals in the world.
“My boys love Jesus and have such a strong biblical knowledge. LCS teaches that and supports their growth in Christ. At the same time, they offer academics that meet your child where they are. The teachers know their stuff, and the academic opportunities are so strong. They also have so many activities to participate in: art, music, PE, musicals, choir, band, flag football, football games, basketball games, field trips, class Olympics, mock trial teams, robotics team...something for everyone."
FINE ARTS

Visual Arts
The visual arts testify to the glory of God without words to each other and to the lost world; therefore, every act of creation has the potential to be an act of worship and a voice of witness. In the LCS Visual Arts Department, we embrace our creative nature and so endeavor to equip students with the foundational skills necessary to communicate ideas visually and to the glory of the Creator.
Lower School
In Elementary Art, we explore the elements of art, famous artists from history and their techniques, and how we can use those techniques to awaken the God given creativity inside each one of us. We practice, plan, and experiment, and sometimes even fail. We learn to respect and enjoy the process, as this is often more important than a “final product.” All of these things are part of the creative process and help us realize that there are no shortcuts in art much like there are no shortcuts in life.
Upper School
Sixth grade students take one quarter of art. For students in grades 7-12, art is an optional elective. Students may take the following art courses:
Art I and II Art III - Honors
