Winter blues got you down? It can be hard to find something to do at Lake of the Ozarks in the winter. But we’ve got plenty of ideas to do to get you out of the house.

LOZ Golf simulator.

The Regalia Hotel & Conference Center is hosting several entertaining evenings in coming weeks. On Friday nights, cult classic movies are being shown starting at 6:30 p.m. at Foxxy Roxy Sports Bar. Watch favorites including “The Rocky Horror Picture Show” on Jan. 21, “Clockwork Orange” on Jan. 28, and “Donny Darko” on Feb. 4. Free children’s movies are shown on Saturdays starting at 10 a.m. See “Sing Making a Microphone” on Jan. 22 and “Christopher Robins Making A Honeypot” on Jan. 29.

On Wednesdays Xtreme Bar Bingo is held at 6:30 p.m. Big prizes are awarded with no cover charge.

It’s Country Night at La Roca Dance Studio in Osage Beach on the fourth Friday of the month. The evening begins with a dance lesson with Country Steppers at 7:30 p.m. followed by Country music all night. Cost is $10 per person and includes snack pizzas from PaPPo’s.

Jolly Mon Indoor Water Park is open Fridays-Sundays during the winter. You can swim no matter what the weather brings! There is 600 feet of water slides, an activity pool, oversized whirlpool, lazy river and lots of fun water activities for kids of all ages.

Cost is $25 for non-hotel guests with kids ages 2 and under free.

Many Lake area golf pro shops have golf simulators that can test your swing and keep you playing golf during the off-season. At LOZ Golf Lounge in Osage Beach (next to

Wicked Wilie’s), you can play several famous golf courses from around the world. Book a time to play a few games with your golf buddies. There are also leagues and memberships available.

There are three caves in the Lake area to explore, each offering a unique experience. Jacob’s Cave (located between Versailles and Gravois Mills) is open from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. in the fall and winter. Cost is $25 for adults, $15 for children ages 5-12 and free for children under the age of four. It is handicapped accessible.

Just outside of Camdenton, Bridal Cave is open daily at 9 a.m. Admission is $22 for children ages 13 and older, $11 for children ages 5-12 and free for children under 4.

Stark Caverns is located outside of Eldon. A variety of cave tours are available. The one-hour tour is $22 for adults, $11 for children 5-12 and free for children.

Call any of these caves to make a reservation or to verify hours.

There’s nothing better on a cold day than a relaxing cup of coffee or warming up with a locally-made spirit. Ozark Distillery and Brewery serves up whiskey, moonshine and a variety of beers crafted at the facility off of Hwy. KK.

Lake of the Ozarks Brewing Company serves up a dozen- or-so craft beer by the glass or growler.

Wine lovers can check out Shawnee Bluff Winery when it opens back up in early February. Seven Springs Winery is a great spot all year.

If you prefer the non-alcohol variety, check out the many local coffee shops offering something different.

Bowling is a great indoor activity and there are a few bowling alleys in the area. Eldon Lanes, Westside Lanes in Laurie and Bowlmor Lanes II in Osage Beach have a variety of leagues and special events to make it a fun evening. If you are bringing the family, call to make sure a lane is open!

At Lake Escape on the Bagnell Dam Strip, call to book one of the four rooms that will test your skills as you try to escape by following clues. Cost is $29.99 per person with a group rate available.
