Veterans Day programs honor military

Veterans Day is observed to honor those who have served in the U.S. armed forces. Celebrated on Nov. 11 each year (the anniversary of the end of World War I), several events are held this month to recognize those how have served.

The annual Veterans Day Parade will be held at Nov. 5 at 1 p.m. along Osage Beach Parkway. Sponsored by Osage Beach Elks Lodge #2517 and the City of Osage Beach, the parade starts from the City Hall and ends at Elks Lodge where free hot dogs and drinks will be served.

Anyone is welcome to decorate their car/ float and join in the parade to support and thank Veterans for their service. Decorate with red, white and blue and enter parade or wave your flag from the side of the road during the parade.

At the Camden County Museum on Nov. 11, Veteran’s war letters will be shared during a presentation at 7 p.m. Free admission and refreshments.

Also on Nov. 11, the American Legion Post 24 in Sunrise Beach will be offering a breakfast from 8-10:30 a.m., followed by a ceremony at 11 a.m. All Veterans and family invited free of charge, donations requested but not required.
