n this issue, you will see some incredible highlights of this past year including more than $5.4 million in non-HOPE scholarship dollars for the class of 2018. Such success by our graduates has become a yearly bragging point for our students, their parents, and the fine faculty here. Such a return on investment in education becomes more important as each year the

acceptance rates drop at competitive universities and the tuition and costs rise. Speaking as a parent of a college-age Lakeview Academy graduate, I can attest to the rigor of his Lakeview education. Our teachers prepared him for his Advanced Placement exams so well that he received a full year of college credit, all while enjoying the full Lakeview Academy experience. This annual report showcases the full experience of a Lakeview Academy education, which doesn’t just include a traditional strong curriculum. It includes opportunities for enrichment and teachers who nurture and expect excellence. We have a winning combination that results in continued success at every level. We see it when our youngest students perform in front of large audiences. We see it when our Fine Arts program continues to dominate state competitions. We see it when our student athletes break school records and more than 10% of our graduates go on to play sports at the collegiate level. We see it when our students are recognized for displaying teamwork, unselfishness, commitment and resilience. We see it when our students embrace our expanding technology programs and take pride in participating on our robotics and coding teams, which are holding their own at area competitions against schools with much larger enrollments. I’m also proud to report that each year our debt decreases and our endowment increases, which is a clear testament to the financial stewardship of our finance office and Board of Trustees. But, it’s not just what we are doing that makes our school so great. It’s also you! We end our annual report with a public thank you to all of you who so generously give of your time, treasure and talent to ensure we have the best programs and faculty for our students. We can do so much more in so many areas because of our Annual Fund, so thank you again to those of you who make Lakeview a priority in your annual giving. I look forward to our continued growth in many areas as we partner to ensure the future will be bright for Lakeview Academy graduates: a return on investment for you, the community and country.

From online classrooms and interactive boards to collaborative projects and AP Computer Science, technology is an essential part of the daily academic life at Lakeview. Based on the International Standards for Technology Education (ISTE), our integrated technology curriculum focuses on the skills and tools necessary for students to thrive in the digital age. The program is further enhanced with current software applications, hardware and support, empowering our faculty and students to use technology to think critically, design creatively and communicate globally in and out of the classroom.

To say that we were busy this fall would be an understatement. The college counselor told the class that “options are a good thing,” and they took her seriously. Together, 364 applications were submitted. Not including the HOPE or Zell Miller Scholarships, the Class of 2018 was offered $5,424,635 million in non-HOPE scholarships.

ALUMNI SPOTLIGHT

WILLIAM STAUTBERG '14 MENSWEAR DESIGNER

Winner of Pitti Tutorship Award

William Stautberg, a 2014 graduate of Lakeview Academy, is making a name for himself in the fashion industry. After graduation he went on to attend Parsons School of Design in New York, a renowned institute for the fashion world, and he recently won the Pitti Tutorship Reward for his spring-summer menswear collection. An academic judging panel composed of members from the Parsons School selected three designers as finalists and Pitti Tutorship Director, Riccardo Vannetti, chose William as the winner of the award. Vannetti states he chose William for the award “for the originality of his collection, for the incisive vision of an innovative style of menswear and for the uniqueness of the elements that match sartorial garments with ‘athleisure.’” William plans to graduate with a BFA in fashion design and looks forward to focusing on design team work or knitwear production and is excited to learn about the technicalities and possibilities of his industry.
