Using a Dictionary: Definitions 1

Some words have more than one meaning. In the dictionary, the different meanings will be numbered.

You’ll find dictionary definitions in a box over each set of sentences. Write the number of the definition that matches the word’s use in each sentence. Use the first item as an example.

naughty 1: behaving badly 2: not nice or proper

disturb 1: to break up the peace and quiet 2: to make worried or upset 3: to put into disorder
