The rise of immigration lately has received a significant amount of backlash and has started an upbringing of nativism. People have started to become skeptical of the immigrants and are questioning the immigrant’s values. This skepticism has started an uprising of Klu Klux Klan action. There have also been laws passed to limit the immigration of foreigners. The consequences of this rise in nativism is ruining our country’s image. Views on Immigration change with time. It seems that when people enjoy social and economic stability, they turn a blind eye towards immigration. Americans become racist and prejudice against immigrants and blame them for problems like economic problems, increased crime, and unemployment. Americans living in the 1920s struggled with attitudes of racism and discrimination towards innocent immigrants. Despite many nativist beliefs Immigrants made America more open to change and less globally isolated. Behold! There have been multiple laws passed to limit immigration of future Americans! The first law passed was the Emergency Immigration Act of 1921, which is supposed to limit immigration temporarily until it can be studied more closely. The next law passed was the National Origins Act. This law severely limited the number of Asians that entered the country. This is a problem because it is making us Americans look prejudiced against Asians! The law extremely limited the number of annual immigrants to 164,000! These laws are making our country look bad because America is supposed to welcome immigrants with open arms. These laws are an obstacle in the progress of our American society! When large numbers of immigrants started to come over to the U.S. the Klan has become more active. They have grown dramatically in size and have an estimate of 4 million members. As they are growing they have started to put down more immigrants and terrify them. There have been more cross burnings and lynching. These Klansmen are terrorizing American citizens all because they can't handle change. The Klan is nothing but a drag on the innovation of Uncle Sam. This increase in nativism is having huge consequences on our country. America was meant to welcome immigrants from anywhere in the world, but nativism is pushing away our future Americans. Not only is nativism costing us money, but it is also costing us respect from other country's. We need to live up to America’s expectations!

Who

Who are the immigrants coming to the U.S in the 1920’s , and are their values good or bad ? By: Dorsa

Save America! Every second 1,000s of new immigrants are entering into America. Many which are carriers of insolence, disease, and part of mafia gangs. The existence of these new immigrants are hurting us native Americans who have shaped America throughout the past years. This is our land and our land only, no one deserves to be here except us nativist. Every second more and more people from all over the world are flooding into America, Europeans, Jews, Italians, Russians, and greeks. These immigrants settled in cities of the east with their minority backgrounds. The most popular place for immigrants to settle in is Harlem. Harlem is now mostly filled with all immigrants, which is a surprise to all. This later led to the 1920s Harlem Renaissance. Until the 1920s, the United States seemed to welcome immigrants into the country to help develop its growing potential; however, this policy changed when the immigrant population dramatically increased in 1920 as more and more children, men, and women came overseas. Another way to judge immigrants in the 20s includes the view of job opportunities open to them. Immigrants often took jobs at the bottom of the wage scale, doing meaningless work. Employers often hired them last and fired them first. Many immigrants could find no jobs. Americans saw these newcomers as a threat to their livelihood because they normally took the jobs that Americans did not want to do. With immigration also came violence. Fear developed from white nativist. White nativists greatly feared minorities and started to single them out. This created great tension amongst people and citizens. As days went by immigrants felt more threaten as racial groups such as the KKK arose. Series of acts were also put in place to limit the immigrants and make their lives horrible. The alien and sedition act and the quota law are great examples. In result, immigrants were scared and threatened and many pretended to be a model citizen to escape racism, religious and cultural prosecutions. Some of the most restrictive immigration laws in u.s history have been passed recently, which were designed to reduce immigration which had soared from; late 19th century, they also reflected the growing mistrust of foreigners and the threat that they thought to pose u.s. Society. The 1920s was an era of huge demographic, racial, cultural, and religious charge, which lead to anxiety and tension, however immigrant weren't all that bad as to they made America less isolated and opened to new ideas.

Is the new Immigration Quota Law (1921) good or bad for America? By Ziad Hasabrabu We are having a huge epidemic America! There is a disease currently spreading around our nation called immigrant-phobia. This disease has started limiting the number of immigrants that enter our country. Our lawmakers have started passing laws to prevent our soon-to-be citizens from entering the country. These laws being passed are bad for America. These lawmakers goals are to minimize the amount of immigrants entering our country. They denounce the entire meaning of a country of immigrants. There are multiple laws that have recently been passed. The law that has started this epidemic was the Emergency Immigration Act of 1921. This law was intended temporary limit the number of immigrants coming to America until Congress studied immigration more closely. But later on, another act was passed that severely limited immigration from other countries. This act is called the National Origins Act. This act has caused the recent immigration of Asians to decrease significantly. It has also placed the annual limit of immigrants to 164,000. There has been a law passed in some states called the Alien Land Law. This law has been mainly targeting Japanese Americans by preventing them from buying land. California was the first state to pass this law. Idaho Arizona, Montana, Oregon, and New Mexico have passed similar laws also. These laws are bad because less immigrants are being able to enter the country and certain groups of immigrants have become the target of discrimination because of how their rights are being taken from them. Each day, America has started becoming a shadow of what it should be!

There are many reasons that have caused these laws to have been passed that do not justify these lawmakers’ actions. One reason is that Nativists have started fearing that immigrants will never become one hundred percent American. Nativists have been blaming the immigrants for the recent urban overcrowding. Thanks to the rise in Nativism, employers are supporting immigration restriction which is holding back the immigrants already in the U.S. After WW1, our immigrants have been blamed for taking all the jobs. This caused the Chinese Exclusion act to be passed. This act is banning Chinese laborers from entering the country or attaining jobs. Another way immigrants are being kept out of work is by employers enforcing literacy tests. This is not a great idea because immigrants have been benefitting America. For example, Mexican immigrants have been doing practically all of the agricultural work for America recently. This is great because agriculture is a large part of the economy in states like Texas, Arizona, and Southern California. Mexicans have integrated into American culture as first-class laborers. We should stop these immigration laws from being passed! These laws are bad for our country. The immigrants that have been coming in have been helping our country's’ economy. Passing these laws will hurt the United States’ reputation. These laws are only hurting America.

They fear them

How has the fear of new immigrants inspired the rise of the power of the KKK? By Antonio Citizens of America, we have a growing problem. The Klu Klux Klan is growing rapidly, they are getting new members everyday. There are new cross burners, lynchers, and Catholic haters every day. And it's all because they can handle anyone that's not their same skin color or religion. The klan is a very big problem for America. The Klu Klux Klan is an organization of people who believe in white supremacy, which is the belief that white people are superior to those of all races. Anti-semitism, the hatred of Jews. And anti-Catholicism, the hatred of Catholics. The klan is a group of terrible people and justice should be brought against all of them.they were formed after the civil war but in the past few years they have gained lots of power. Apparently they have similar robes to the original klan. They hate African americans, and many more groups of people. Like Catholics, Jews, Radicals, and foreigners. Klans men are beating African americans and lynching them. We must stop the KKK and arrest all members for their crimes. The KKK are afraid of immigrants because they don't want their white supremacy to vanish. The KKK fear Jews and Catholics because of their rising social position. When the KKK put down immigrants it's because they fear them. All immigrants should join together to protest the KKK. The klan is a big problem for america and we must stop it. We must support the immigrants of America and fight against the klan. Overall if we do not stop the klan they will leave immigrants terrified and a bad reputation for America.
