Issue : How to Create an Industrial Park that Respresents South City’s Image and Culture?
Industrial park seems to be on the same image as a town for machines, a living space nightmare, and heavy duty vehicle. There is an inhumane perception that an industry focused city are not meant for people, community and even family.
At the same time, there is a warm and festive atmosphere that is already synonimous with South City with it’s stalls, shopping streets, and more.
Concept : Common Courtyard
The idea is how do we treat the entire masterplan as a courtyard, where people would gather at the center, rest the side, and progam for productivities at the outer side. The existing parcels and festivities of South City are focused on the main boulevard, then wrapped by apartments and retail podiums on the outer layer. Each of apartments parcel have their own green courtyard and connected with each other via pedestrian ways and bridges.
The industrial area are placed on the north and south of the masterplan, with their own courtyard for the employees and the communities to gather, socialize and rest. The whole programs are connected by monorails and outer ring road.
The site is located in Pinghu Area, Longgang District. Longguang itself sits at the north side of Shenzen City. Eventhough it doesn't have direct access to the harbor or to Hong Kong, the train that leads inland and to the harbor transit at Pinghu District thus makes the site a hotspot for people, logistics and culture.
Issue : How could we reimagine learning activities that coexist with nature?
The spectrum of how humans absorb information is wide. This is always a challenge for campuses, as a space for students to maximize their learning activities. No one can predict what learning activities will be like in the future. At the same time, there is a challenge of climate change, where the built environment might not be the same as it is in the present.
When in the next 10-20 years the main challenge for the space around us is how can we preserve the surrounding environment as best as possible, how can the teaching and learning process be integrated with this preservation?
Concept : Normalizing Nature
We observed that learning on campus are not a confined and seclude activities, but a highly mobile and communal one. We focus the design on the transitional and temporary spaces like pedestrian, in between the buildings, and voids. We intensify vegetation into this space to integrate nature into the students learning habits and preserve the existing nature.
Farmland crops are used for consumption on campus and traded. Sewage waste from each building is collected to become a vertilizer.
Cross Ventilation Strategy
The long side of the mass is made parallel to the direction of the wind and the facade uses vertical louvers.
Sun Shading Strategy
Floors and roofs are given overhangs and trees. They are brought closer to the walls to create shading in the rooms below.

Issue : Seclution
The location is a 2 separated site in the middle of a private dwellings, near beach, gated neighborhood. It seesm that every house has their own leasure facilities such as swimming pool, mini-parks, and such. Then we ask, why the site matter? Why people even want to go to out of their house?
Concept : Catalyzing Context
Lignano Paserella (skywalk) is a new eco landmark within Lignano Sabbiadoro that provide seamless connectivity from Bibione – Passo Barca – Lungomare Ricardo Riva –Unicef Park – to the rest of Lignano district. This creates integrated vibrant waterfront experience bringing people from the City and Pinewood Forest back to Golden Sand Beach, Middle Sea and Tagliamento River that is assets to the region. A series of programs and streetscape revitalization is proposed to enhance slow traffic between the two sites, to improve walkability and at the same time maximize view and access to the beach area.

Issue : What is Thinking?
This project was a series of questioning of a typology. The question started by asking “what is an office?”, then followed by “what it does?” “how an office concept started?” “why it’s called an office?” “and so on until we arrived at the answer that office is a space for mental work or thinking. Then the next question is ”what is thinking?” and then “how does architecture accommodate that?”.
Concept : Superposition
Turns out thinking and being productive has a paradoxical state, where the concept of “flow” where a person in a state of constant concentration is contradicting with “emotional stimulation” which creates excitement and makes a person enjoy the process of thinking itself. So we propose a superposition of the two to fulfill each other downside and create a new layout of thinking space.
The search for an optimized layout for thinking start by categorizing an existing typical layout and combining them into several permutations. By marrying a contradicting types, the new layout would either get the best of each other or the worse of them. As such, from every matrix, the permutations are evaluated first before finally getting superimposed.
Sarinah is one of the most prominent cultural heritage sites in Jakarta. It is the first shopping mall in Indonesia and an expression of anticolonialism. Sarinah’s design tried to fight against colonial design language at the time and became one of the experiments by Indonesian architects on finding the nation’s own unique style. Sarinah’s design was always renovated along with the nation’s political shifts, until finally returning to its original design language in 2022.
As Sarinah brought back to its original intention, what would the new extension tower of Sarinah become? How should it respect the past but also elevate it’s value for the future?
Concept : Reinterpretation of Elements
Sky Thamrin Sarinah propose an idea that Sarinah and Indonesian Design Languange could be simplified into elements like weaves, woods, and communality. As it turns out, Sarinah has always been a place to gather, transit and for people to express themself either on an event or just casual shopping. This elements are then incorporated into every aspect of the design, from the users flow, ergonomics, programs and languange.
