Importance of Meditation summarized in three steps by Lama Surya Das Meditation is a conscious effort to change how the mind works. Meditation helps us to control our mind and thoughts and turn off our mind when we do not need it anymore. Meditation is essential to feel well and live a Happy Life. Here are my favorite mediation steps summarized by Lama Surya Das and how I have adopted these in my full and busy life. A meditation sitting can generally be thought of as having three steps: Step One– Arriving and Centering: Find a peaceful place and balance your body and begin relaxing and holding less closely to your thoughts. Try to become more attentive, aware, and mindful of your breathing Step Two–Growing and Focusing: Focus more strongly on your inhalation and exhalation. Try to let the scattered views that pop into your head vanish into your breathing. With every view interruptions try to change on the simplicity of just breathing; remaining free and untangled. Step Three–Let go and allowing: As you clam and breathe, you start to arrive unselfconsciously in the present moment- the sacred now. You become sensitized, open and calm; you are experiencing the calm and joy of meditation–being aware of what is, just as it is. Just being, without judgments opinions. Don’t be too tough on yourself if it takes time to refocus, practice make perfect! Importance of Meditation 1. Meditation is vital for every person.
