HOME BY NICO
A FEW CONFESSIONS BEFORE I delve into this review, I have always wanted to dine at Six by Nico though pre Covid I never got round to it and I have no excuse and two, fine dining is not typically my forte, let’s see if their Home offering can convert me!
In or out of lockdown we all have different loves and culinary skills, I personally love to cook though like many am constantly cooking the same dishes in rotation, when I seen Home by Nico while scrolling through social media, I was immediately drawn to it, let’s hear about the concept.
“Nico and his team have travelled the globe to bring you the very best in world cuisine. Home by Nico menus deliver a restaurant experience that gives you a taste of culinary delights from around the world in the comfort of your own home. With Home by Nico being such a success, we decided to bring our concept back even bigger than ever. Now delivering U.K. wide, we are exploring 12 new cities and preparing 12 exciting menus, each lasting for a month. Expect your home dining experience to be rich in culture and filled with explosive flavours.
Transporting you to the delights of a new location every month, indulge yourself in an unpredictable array of dishes inspired by the culture and iconic tastes, smells and flavours
of each destination. Ensuring comfort is at the forefront of your experience, each monthly menu is cooked by our chefs and to be plated and enjoyed at home”.
We collected our box rather than delivery, I must admit we were semi concerned with safety measures though any trepidations were expelled, having arrived at arrived the allotted time, I wasn’t sure what to expect though there was no waiting or queuing, all staff were masked following guidelines and there was a sanitising station – 10 points for being on the ball. I was in and out hassle free within minutes and eagerly on route home to get unboxing and planning.
With this box Nico transports us to beautiful Barcelona, on opening I was immediately impressed at how precise everything was and so well thought out, the Menu card had a step-by-step guide to follow for cooking that even a complete novice couldn’t get wrong, on the card there was a clear list of all ingredients and allergens which is perfect for anyone who can’t eat certain things though equally good for anyone who may want to recreate the dishes at the later date. And each item in the box was clearly labelled. On the Menu was Catalan Bread, Jamon Bombas, Pork Belly for Main, sides where Patatas Bravas, Sobrasada & Chickpea Estofada and a beautiful Crema Catalana dessert. I can’t fault the menu at all, everything was a match made in heaven which made for a perfect experience, portion size was perfect, more than enough for 2 and nothing was comprised in terms of quality and being off the vino my house made reassured me that wine which were not expecting was beautiful, like the food it didn’t last too long lol.
I had so much fun, cooking and eating, you’ll see by the pics though plating up is not my strong suit though I did give it a whirl lol
Six by Nico Belfast are gearing up to reopen the Belfast restaurant soon so focus will change to that shortly, keep an eye on our social media for updates.
Thank you so much for allowing us to review, it was such a pleasure and like so many we cannot wait to enjoy the full experience in the restaurant, as soon as you announce the reopening, I shall be booking a table
