I’m Elaine, mummy to Conor,12 & Méabh,5.

From a young age I always wanted to work with children so it’s no surprise that’s the path I went down and I am now the manager in the setting I’ve worked in for almost 16 years.

In 2015 I was offered an opportunity to increase my income.

Depite having an extremely supportive family, I was riddled with ‘single parent’ shame. I wanted more for Conor, more for myself and I was told that this opportunity would give me that.

I listened to people who had been in the business 10+ years and how their lives had changed. I was in awe!! But a little voice at the back of my head kept shouting ‘it’s okay for them’ , ‘that’s not for people like you’ and I gave up!

Fast forward 8 years….. The shame had lessened, probably due to life events & understanding ‘self worth’ (that’s a story for another day).

In 2023, I connected with a community of solo parents, but what I didn’t know was how my life would change ‘FOREVER’

I met a lady who I recognised from 2015, she has created an amazing business through this company in the last 8 years. She has travelled for FREE , to destinations she never thought possible as a solo parent.

Over the next few weeks I couldn’t stop thinking about how she (like me) was just an ordinary person with an ordinary life trying to provide the best future for her children and so I went along to an event & listened to 6 ladies who had all been in there when I first joined in 2015. All from different backgrounds, all with different reasons, which proves this opportunity has something for EVERYONE!

What interested me the most was how they had all built their businesses in and around family life and now this is their full time income. I thought ‘maybe I could make this work for my family’ and so we began our FOREVER journey once again!!

Fast forward to today, I still work in Childcare however, thanks to the success I have had in just 8 months I have been able to reduce my full time hours so I can spend more time at home being mum!!

I want a better future for my children, a better future for me!

Being a SOLO parent, I need to be secure in the fact that my children will ALWAYS be more than okay.

So when I am asked ‘What matters most’ ?

The answer is simple… My little team!!
