What first sparked your love for music? Was there a defining moment when you knew this was the path for you?

I can’t explain it, I have just always felt like this was what I was meant to do. There wasn’t one specific moment, but I do remember watching Katy Perry on her California Dreams tour and thinking - somehow I need to do that !!
Your sound is so unique—who were your biggest musical influences growing up?
Thank you!! I went through different phases - I loved indie rock bands like Two Door Cinema Club, White Lies, The Wombats etc then I loved EDM but Pop has always been a constant. I love the big icons of the 2010s, the Max Martin esque world of pop, vocally I love Gwen Stefani and MARINA and performance wise Lady Gaga & Freddie Mercury.
As an artist, what’s been the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far in your career?
You can’t plan for everything, as much as I enjoy making lists and goals, so many cool and unexpected things happened that I never dreamed of. You just have to make art you’re proud of and promote it the best way you can, the rest is out of your control!
Born to Run has such a cinematic and empowering feel—what was the inspiration behind the song and video?
Thanks! It’s a lot about my ambitions as an artist and wanting to make it in the music industry, and how that affects my relationships and means sometimes I run from things that are good for me. We kept the video simple but seeing as the song is about empowerment we had me running around central in let’s say minimal clothing in the freezing cold, which required a lot of confidence lol.
The visuals in Born to Run are stunning. How involved were you in shaping the creative vision for the video?
Thank you - I worked with the director Callaway Breeze who is the best babe ever and such a talented and fun energy on set. She had the idea of keeping it really simple and focused on me, visiting lots of different locations in London, but then thought it would be nice to have a base location so it’s as if I’m leaving home. Luckily my friend Nick let us use his newly designed house which is sooo gorgeous! I’m forever grateful for my friends around me who help me make these ideas come to life.
If you could have any filmmaker direct one of your future music videos, who would it be and why?
Baz Luhrmann - my favourite films are Moulin Rouge & Great Gatsby and I just love his incredible style - it oozes with theatre, pizazz and magic and it would be a dream to work with him.
I also love Bardia Zeinali - that collab would be amazing.
Your new single Rose & Jack is such an intriguing title—what’s the story behind the song?
It’s about the struggle of hiding your feelings for someone, the pain of not being able to openly celebrate your love and the frustration of keeping it in the shadows. Love is the best thing ever!!! So it sucks when a situation means you can’t share that with the world. We specifically reference Rose & Jack in Titanic and the moments they are so happily dancing together, free, in love, without judgment, as an ideal of what we wish it could be like.
Thematically, does Wonderlust explore new territory for you, or does it build on the themes of your past music?
It builds on themes of my past music and is an honest dive into the whirlwind of my imagination; the endless ‘what ifs’, toying over what could’ve been or yet, still could be. It’s about craving more than what’s in front of you—a love that’s deeper, a passion that’s stronger, a world beyond the ordinary. Every song is a peak into my daydreams, exploring the highs and lows, twists and turns of my inner thoughts.
If Wonderlust had a movie-style tagline, what would it be?
WONDERLUST - dare to dream. Lol!
What track on the EP means the most to you personally, and why?
Rose & Jack - because it’s incredibly honest - the most honest - and real to my life and a situation I’ve gone through personally. I’m really proud of it.
What does a typical songwriting session look like for you? Do you start with lyrics, melodies, or something else?
This changes every session depending on the mood, who I’m working with etc but typically we have a title or concept and shape the song around that, starting with melody then lyrics.
Performing live can be an emotional experience—what’s been your most memorable gig so far?
Performing at The Hundred last year in a stadium of 25,000 people - it felt like what I imagine the main stage at a festival to feel like and it felt so cool, it gave me a taste of what I want to do forever!
If you could create your dream collaboration with any artist, living or dead, who would it be?
Ooo so hard - I think it would have to be Lady Gaga. She’s just unreal and I find her commitment to her craft so inspiring, she’s never wavered from who she is and I would love to see her work.
If your life was a musical, what would the title be?
Wow depends on what time of my life but right now it would be something like…. Living in the Upside Down
What’s one thing fans might be surprised to learn about you?
Emm i’ll spill a few - I used to do Irish dancing, I love marmite and I HATE coriander!
Thanks for the chat Lo
