Complicated Woman - Released 25th April

Prepare to be captivated by this remarkable album that solidifies her as one of the most entrancing artists in today’s music scene! This eagerly awaited sequel to the acclaimed “Prioritise Pleasure” bursts with vibrant energy, celebrating empowerment, identity, and the beautiful complexities of modern womanhood.

Right from the opening notes of “I Do And I Don’t Care,” you’ll find yourself swept into a bold sonic adventure filled with infectious pop melodies and poignant lyrics. The standout single, “Focus Is Power,” is a rousing anthem for self-determination, featuring uplifting choruses that linger in your mind and are supported by an exhilarating choir of predominantly female voices. It’s a song that radiates joy and inspires!

Taylor’s unique ‘Trojan Horse’ style shines through, intertwining meaningful messages with catchy hooks, making deep themes relatable for everyone. This album also showcases stellar collaborations with artists like Nadine Shah and Moonchild Sanelly, creating a rich blend of experiences and emotions. The combination of personal narratives and collective voices fosters a deep sense of connection, beautifully capturing Taylor’s vision of solidarity among women.

Every track is a carefully crafted gem, revealing layers of complexity and emotion. From the introspective “Mother” to the empowering anthem “Cheers To Me,” featuring that unforgettable line, “the worst idea I ever had was you!”, this album promises an exhilarating and heartwarming journey. Don’t miss the a cappella highlight “What Now,” where stunning harmonies meet lush church organ chords.

Having evolved from her indie roots with Slow Club, Self Esteem has emerged as a true force in pop music. With “A Complicated Woman,” she shines a light on the beauty of taking control of your narrative amid life’s chaos. This album is an experience you won’t want to pass up!

In 1997, I was preparing for my GCSEs, and this song was everywhere. It has remained a favorite on my playlists ever since. Recently, they have once again topped my lists after a lovely interview with Sharleen.

PLEASE FORGIVE ME

The Keys, the chords and the melody instantly recognisable ever now 20 years later, he is playing to a sold out Custom House Square this summer, I predict the full audience will sing back for this song at the gig.

I WAS MADE FOR LOVIN’ YOU FT HOUSE GOSPEL CHOIR

A disco track reminiscent of Studio 54 featuring the incredible House Gospel Choir on vocals; I dare you not to sing along.

KATY PERRY SMALL TALK

Although it isn’t one of her biggest singles, I loved the thought-provoking break-up and friendship lyrics instantly. She knows how to put on a show, and I can’t wait for my nieces to experience it with me later this year.
