STRAWBERRY FROSÉ

Please give this one a go. We were really pleasantly surprised by how good this cocktail tastes - it’s rosé wine, blended with fresh, luscious, succulent strawberries, sugar, and lemon juice, then popped in the freezer for a few hours.

Rosé wine may seem an unusual base for a cocktail - but it works. We believed that the Frosé cocktail market had passed its peak but this version certainly warrants a revisit. We’re not normally big fans of rosé-habitually avoiding those overly sweet Californian pinks. Nor do we usually enjoy drinks which involve enough crushed ice to sink the Titanic! Slush Puppies? No thanks! However, this cocktail is perfect for sipping on a summer’s afternoon, and it would appear we are Frosé converts. cocktail which requires a little bit of preparation, and a few hours waiting time, but it’s well worth it, and before long you’ll be relaxing in the garden, Strawberry Frosé in hand. Cheers!

Ingredients

- Lidl’s Californian Zinfandel Rosé (£4.48 for 750ml bottle) - Strawberries - 1 Lemon - 2 tbsp Caster Sugar - Mint leaves to serve

Method

1. Blend the rosé with the strawberries, lemon juice and sugar. 2. Place into a tray and then into the freezer. 3. Allow to freeze for at least three hours, or overnight. 4. Once frozen, blend again, serve in glasses and top with fresh mint leaves.

This rum based cocktail, a refreshingly bright hybrid of a Pimm’s style summer cup and a tropical mojito, transports you to either an exotic beach holiday, or a summer garden party. The choice is yours. It’s a minty, fresh, fruity cocktail which can easily be adapted to suit your personal preferences. Add less sugar if you don’t have a sweet tooth, or use different fruits or berries to make a bespoke creation. Cucumber anyone? Why not? More mint? Absolutely! Perhaps this drink requires a little more effort to make than most, but as any mixologist will tell you, creating the perfect cocktail is a time-consuming labour of love. In fact, if you’re currently in lockdown, your household will immediately be transported to their favourite bar - and you will have turned into a cocktail god!

Ingredients

- 70ml Liberté White Rum (£10.99 for 700ml bottle) - 100ml Freeway Soda water - 2 peaches - 2 passion fruit - 1 lime - 2 tbsp Caster sugar - 3 sprigs of mint - Large handful of ice

Method

1. Slice the peaches into segments, holding back 4 to garnish. Add the rest to a blender with the sugar and juice of half the lime. Blitz until smooth. 2. Dice the remaining half lime and add to the base of the glasses along with 3 small mint leaves per glass. Use a muddler to gently crush these. 3. Place the ice in a clean tea towel, fold or wrap to enclose the ice and bash. Fill the glasses halfway with the crushed ice. 4. Add the blender contents to the glasses along with the rum and the flesh of half a passion fruit in each, then stir. 5. Top each glass with soda and add a little extra crushed ice if needed. 6. Garnish by slicing the remaining passion fruit
