BOLSA CHICA STATE BEACH RV CAMPING

Huntington Beach is one of the rare tourist destinations that o ers recreational vehicle (RV) camping right along the sand. Check out these three campgrounds that o er utility hookups and other amenities to make your camp life simple and fun.

“You look out your window mornings and see Catalina across the blue water and breathe in that great salt-sea air,” says Tom Valdez of South Dakota, who has been RV living at Bolsa Chica State Beach for more years than he can remember. “Then late in the day you’re grilling dinner in the firepits and watching the clearest, most beautiful sunset o the sea.”

The state campground has 57 spots that stay filled year-round, and you often need to reserve space months in advance to get in. A high percentage of campers bring surfboards, as well as bikes to ride the popular multi-purpose trail that runs from Seal Beach to Newport Beach. While you can find license plates from almost any state, “the majority of our guests live within 15 miles of here,” says Valdez, a volunteer host. “This is their chance to make the beach a part of their Southern California living.”

SUNSET VISTA RV PARK

The city’s RV park, with 46 available spots, is positioned just south of the Huntington Beach Pier and allows for a unique visitor experience. You have the ocean and great surfing at your front door. Just as appealing, your backyard is downtown Huntington Beach, where you can walk to bars, restaurants, surf stores, and boutique shops. Directly behind the RVers is the Pacific City retail center, loaded with shopping and family dining. Open from October to May.

If the beach sites are filled, but you still want a beach vacation, try the Waterfront RV Park. With 90 spots, it’s only minutes away from a day at the beach and o ers 30-day stays. It also has its own pool, a clubhouse, and laundry facilities.
