UCLA Health is where discovery leads to world-class care. Among the world’s most comprehensive academic health systems, UCLA Health’s mission is to provide stateof-the-art patient care, support pioneering research, and train top medical professionals. It includes four hospitals on two campuses— Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center, UCLA Mattel Children’s Hospital and the UCLA Resnick Neuropsychiatric Hospital in the Westwood area of Los Angeles, and UCLA Santa Monica Medical Center—and more than 250 community clinics across Southern California. UCLA Health also includes the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA.

Innovations and Breakthroughs

UCLA Health has long been a leader in innovative health care delivery. Early research at UCLA was integral to the development of imaging systems such as CT scans and PET scans. UCLA faculty developed the tissuematching test that makes organ transplants possible, as well as a breakthrough treatment for brain aneurysms. Our scientists have developed new, life-saving targeted treatments for cancers such as breast cancer and melanoma, as well as the first FDA-approved CAR-T cell therapy. Since 2003 alone, research conducted at UCLA has resulted in 21 new U.S. Food and Drug Administration-approved cancer treatments. The leading-edge research on our campus has been awarded the top prizes in medicine, including the Nobel Prize and the National Medal of Science.

Honors and Accomplishments

UCLA Health hospitals are ranked in the country’s top 5 by U.S. News & World Report, and for 33 consecutive years have appeared on the national honor roll of only 20 hospitals providing the highest-quality care. UCLA Health hospitals also rank as one of the best in the world by Newsweek.Center’s Magnet Recognition, the highest honor for excellence in nursing.
