THE GREATEST FLOWER SHOW ON EARTH

After being put on pause last year, the 133rd Rose Parade will make its long-awaited return.

BY SARA SMOLA

Since 1890, the Tournament of Roses (tournamentof roses.com) has produced what has become affectionately known as “America’s New Year Celebration,” bringing the traditions of the Rose Parade and Rose Bowl Game to Pasadena and the nation.

On January 1, 2022, oral oats, spirited marching bands, and high-stepping equestrian units will make their way along the 5.5-mile route, starting at Orange Grove Boulevard before continuing on to Colorado Boulevard. The parade’s theme of “Dream. Believe. Achieve.” celebrates education’s ability to open doors, open minds, and change lives.

For those seeking a more immersive viewing experience, a $20 ticket to Floatfest (January 1-2) will get you into a twomile showcase of the oats following their parade appearance. At Sierra Madre and Washington Boulevards, attendees can take a closer look at the workmanship that went into each oat entry and learn more about the design and building process from Tournament volunteers on hand. Comfortable walking shoes and early arrival are recommended.
