ACTIVE PURSUITS
Naturally, Rose Bowl Stadium is the true heart of the city’s active pursuits. Anyone who enjoys swimming laps must plan a swim at the impressive Rose Bowl Aquatics Center (360 N. Arroyo Blvd.; rosebowlaquatics. com). The center’s two outdoor Olympic-sized pools are a thing of beauty, and lap swim sessions are open to the public daily. The scenic 3.3-mile Arroyo Seco Rose Bowl Loop is a popular route for walkers, runners and bikers— cycling outfitters like Pasadena Cyclery (1670 E. Walnut St.; pasadenacyclery.com) and VELO Pasadena (2562 E. Colorado Blvd.; velopasadena.com) can cover your bike rental needs. Brookside Golf Course (1133 Rosemont Ave.; brooksidegc. com) features two 18-hole championship courses where you can tee-o while enjoying San Gabriel Mountain views. iTennis manages the open-to-the-public tennis courts at the Rose Bowl Tennis Center (360 N. For a decadent full-service spa, look no further than the awardwinning Chuan Spa (1401 S. Oak Knoll Ave.; chuanspa.com) at The Langham Huntington, Pasadena, best known for its traditional Chinese medicine-inspired signature body treatments and facials. Burke Williams (39 Mills Pl.; burkewilliamsspa.com/ pasadena-massage) day spa also o ers massages, facials and nailcare services, plus whirlpool tubs, saunas, steam rooms and cool misting rooms—a luxurious experience at relatively a ordable prices. The Salt Studio (1380 E. Walnut St.; saltstudiopasadena. com) wellness spa is another great option for a spa day or a peaceful session in their salt cave room. Halotherapy is an ancient remedy for respiratory conditions—breathing the pure salt air is good for your lungs, skin, immunity and state of mind, and is said to reduce inflammation.
