SHOW SYNOPSIS / WHAT TO EXPECT The play takes place in modern-day Manhattan. It starts on a normal work day for a group of aspiring writers who are growing tired of the monotony of their desk jobs. Dean stumbles in hungover from a party at the home of someone else who works in the office, Gloria, the night prior. As the day goes on, everyone goes about their business, though tensions are high with a dispute over who should be allowed to write a story on a deceased singer, and Gloria begins to act stranger than usual. In a sudden shift in tone, Gloria shoots and kills many workers, including Miles and Ani, leaving Dean, Kendra, Nan, and Lorin alive. The story then follows the fallout of each character's life as they try to cope with the stress of witnessing the events and feud over who deserves a book deal based on the events of the shooting.

Throughout the show shooting, gun violence, and emotional distress is discussed at regular intervals. The actors slam the phone headsets down occasionally.

At the start of the show, the lights will dim, and the photocopier will make loud noises.

The actors talk about someone dying by overdose. The actors sing a song loudly.

The actors shout at one another, having an argument. This happens a couple of times. The actor playing Lorin will come on stage and shout over them.

Screaming will be heard from offstage. Two people dressed in white suits will enter the auditorium and spray fake blood on the white board and the windows. The sound of gunshots will be heard.

Gloria enters the stage. Using their hands in the shape of a gun the actor playing gloria shoots Miles and Ani. The actors playing those characters will pretend to die.

The actor playing Gloria will then use her hands in a gunshape to indicate that she is shooting herself. The lights will go out.

INTERVAL (The interval is 20 minutes long. During the interval the stage will change and the fake blood will be cleared away.)

The lights will dim, and the setting is now a Starbucks coffee shop.

During this scene, the actor playing Shawn will talk a bit about racism. The actor playing Dean will talk about depression and trauma, with regards to the shooting.

The actors playing Kendra and Dean talk about the shooting in detail. They get into a big argument. The actor playing Dean pretends to slap Kendra.

Shortly after the actors playing Nan and Sahsa enter the space, Dean will return. He has a panic attack. Nan and Sasha discuss the shooting in detail.

There is a blackout, during which the actors will change the scene on stage to look like another office space. It is the office of a film company.

The actor playing Lorin will put their headphones on towards the end of the scene. The actor playing Rashaad will shout a series of names at him. The lights will go out and music will play.
