Exemption - refer to C/VM1 & C/AS1 4.3 (a) small areas of non conforming product within a fire cell with a total aggregate surface area of not more than 5.0m2 Disclaimer: NZBC clauses reference are current at time of publication and are intended as a guide only. If the building is mixed use, a combination of retail on ground floor and accommodation above, and there is more than one Risk Group, the fire safety requirements will depend on whether the risk groups occupy the same fire cell or whether the floor is divided by fire separation into different fire cells. Where fire separations are not needed between different risk groups on the same floor, the fire safety systems for the fire cell will be those of the primary risk group. Where firecells containing the same risk group occur at different levels in the same building, the fire safety systems having the most onerous requirements are applied to all firecells of that risk group. This risk group includes spaces being used for personal services such as hairdressers, dentists and doctors unless the occupant is incapacitated in some way.

Laminate as a Wall Lining Laminates are hard-wearing, low maintenance and immensely practical while still retaining aesthetic integrity, making them perfect for partitioning and wall linings. To obtain maximum dimensional stability, laminate sheets need to be pressed on a suitable, quality substrate, such as MDF and Particleboard before adhering to the wall. Note: They are not suitable for wet areas. For wet area application please use Seratone® Aqua.

ABS Edge • Thick and thin looks can be achieved. We recommend the minimum of 25mm thickness. • Overhang up to 250mm with 25mm profile ABS edgetape is available to match selected colours, over 80% of the range. Only 1mm thick, ABS edgetape blends with the benchtop disguising the black line edge, creating a seamless look of uninterrupted lines, mimicking the contemporary look often found on more expensive wood, stones, granites and quartz surfaces. Finishing your countertop with matching or contrasting ABS edgetape gives you a beautiful square edge without compromising on the overall look. ABS edgetape for benchtops can be specified by colour and in some cases, finish.

Waterfall A waterfall profile is made by clashing the benchtop edge with a piece of the same laminate to create a more modern and stylish detail at the end of the bench. The waterfall profile adds interest and dimension giving an overall sleek and minimal look for any kitchen design.

Laminex Formica® Laminate

Laminex™ ABS edgetape is available in 53mm width and 1mm thickness. These can be supplied as either unglued or pre-glued.

85 Square Edge Square edge profile is made by clashing the benchtop edge with a piece of the same laminate to create a true square edge. A traditional laminate look. Depending on the laminate colour, a dark line may be visible.

Rolled Edge Laminex™ laminate can be rolled along the length of the laminate to a minimum radius of 8mm for solid colours and 6mm for stones, abstract patterns and woodgrains. The tighter radius for stone patterns allows for a similar look and finish to a stone benchtop. It is cost effective and extremely hardwearing with good chip and impact resistance. It is also ideal for environments where pointed edges need to be avoided.

Melteca® Wall Lining Applicable to Melteca® Standard, Jumbo, and FR Ranges When fixing through the face of the panel, mechanical fastenings shall be a minimum 30x6mm screw for 12mm panels and 40x6mm for 18mm panels at 300mm centres along the top and bottom edges. Holes through the Melteca® panel shall be oversized to accommodate the screw fixing passing through the panel without chipping the surface.

Adhesives Pu adhesives such as Sika Nailbond Premium shall be used in continuous beads on the face of the supporting framework or at 400mm centres when fixing is over continuous lining.

Preparation of Surfaces Substrates (timber, steel or existing linings) must be free from dust and loose material. Any painted surface must be sanded to provide a key for the adhesive. Steel surfaces should be abraded with a Scotch-brite pad, followed by an application of Sika Cleaner 205 or similar. Product Overview

The surface of the Melteca® panel shall be cleaned using Sika Cleaner 205 in the areas where the adhesive will be applied (in line with the framing or at 400mm centres if fixing over existing linings)

Edge Screws If edge fixing is required, it is important not to fix edge screws closer than 25mm from the corner of the board. Framework Setout When fixing directly to a framed wall, allow for the stud, rafter, beams etc, to accommodate a minimum 2mm expansion gap at panel edges especially where large areas or long walls are to be covered. Installation on Wall Laminam® 3+ and Laminam® 5+ can be installed as both indoor and outdoor tilings. Laminam® 3+ is always recommended for areas containing “L”-shaped cuts or frequent drilling. Irrespective of the type of substrate, check the flatness of the substrate using a 2m rod, rested on the screed in all directions. The permitted tolerance is 3mm. It is always advisable to use the Easy Frame when installing the Laminam® 3+ 1000x3000mm size. When selecting a size for indoor applications take into account the possibility of movement that the rooms to be covered pose. In the case of outdoor coverings, it is recommended to use the size 1000x3000mm only for limited heights and only when the conditions of the site allow the installer to obtain the best results.

Specification Considerations Floor Application Laminam® 3+ and Laminam®5 are designed to be installed on any newly-built or pre-existing building substrate, provided that this substrate possesses suitable mechanical strength and finishing for the installation.

Flatness For all types of substrate flatness must be checked with a 2m-long rod, rested on the screed in all directions. The permitted tolerance is 3mm. If the substrate is not flat along the majority of the surface to be installed, level the entire area using suitable products. If the base is not flat only in certain areas, correct this by removing or scraping away excess parts and filling any holes using the same adhesive as the subsequent installation.

Specification Considerations Cuts Details and specifications How the log is cut or sliced will greatly influence the appearance of your Timber Veneer. Crown cut

Quarter cut Quarter cut is produced when a log is cut into quarters, it is then sliced with the blade perpendicular to the growth rings. This produces a very linear grain pattern.

Product Overview

Crown or Flat cut Veneer is one of the most popular cuts. Produced when a half log is placed flat against the slicer with the blade parallel to the length of the log. This produces a rich, characterful look with ‘cathedral’ peaks.

Rotary cut

Laminex™ Timber Veneer

Rotary cut is produced when a log is turned against the blade, following the annual growth rings and the veneer is peeled off the outer circumference of the log. This produces a bold variegated grain as seen in plywood sheets.

111 Veneer Grade The next thing to be decided is the grade of veneer required for each side of the substrate. This decision can be made based on the usage of the veneer. All sheets require veneer on both sides of the panel to avoid any bowing, but the grade of veneer for both sides depends on design aesthetics. Face grade - where it will be seen, premium veneer. Backing grade - where it might not be seen and is used to balance the substrate. F2S Face two sides Two premium veneer panels on both sides. Ideal when both sides of the veneer are visible. This has face grade veneers of the same species on both sides of the substrate. It would be specified where a panel is seen from both sides such as open shelving. Usually applied to room dividers and shelving units centralised in rooms.

1F1B One face, one back Ideal for cabinetry. This has a face grade veneer on one side and on the reverse side a veneer of the same species of a backing grade which allows for natural blemishes (possible mismatching and minor faults but do not impair the integrity of the veneer). A common use would be on cabinet doors.

1FAB One face, any back Ideal for wall panelling. This panel has a face grade veneer of the selected species on the face and on the reverse side a backing grade of any species serving as a balancer to minimise any movement of the substrate. Laminex™ Timber Veneer

112 Grain Direction It is normal practice to specify dimensions of veneered panels ‘length by width by thickness’. The first nominated dimension specifies the direction the veneer grain runs eg. 2400mm x1200mm the veneer length is 2400mm long and can be referred to as long grain. 1200mm x 2400mm has the grain running parallel to the 1200mm length, this is referred to as cross grain. Wall Lining To use Timber Veneer as a wall lining please consult with your joiner or builder for the best fixing options. Timber Veneer is a unique and natural product. Cost savings can be made by using any backing grade veneer where it won’t be visible e.g. wall panelling.

Each standard size slab is 3050mm x 1440mm, each slab requires trimming, this will bring it back to approximately 3030mm x 1420mm of workable space. Decors with veins require vein matching considerations, for example Empira White™ and decors with linear patterns require style matching, for example Primordia™. Concrete matte finish brings an authentic industrial patina and compared to the polished finish on other Caesarstone® designs, the smooth concrete matte finish doesn’t disguise marks as easily, meaning more regular cleaning may be required. Rough finish has a smooth front edge and in some cases due to the bold design and textural patterns there may be some variations at the seam. Fresh Concrete™ and Raw Concrete™ may include random pigments dispersed throughout the slab.
